Hi, I'm 41, and 4w 4d pregnant. Trying not to get too excited yet as I know it's high risk.
Any other 40+ people out there? How are you getting on?

Ah tiny that’s brilliant news for you xxx

sparklyglitterball · 16/05/2018 13:57

That's great news tiny! You must be so happy 😁. Was a reason for the raised NT measurement ever identified? A friend had this at her 12 week scan, she had a cvs which has ruled out the major syndromes, but she's still waiting for results on other chromosomal abnormalities and a cardiac scan. I guess it can just be one of those things. Anyway, enjoy your post positive scan vibes! It's such a nice feeling Smile

TinyTerror1 · 16/05/2018 14:46

Thanks donna and sparkly 😊

no, no reason ever identified for the high NT. I had the CVS and all came back clear. It was only slightly high, 3.9mm, but it was a really nerve-wracking few weeks and even after the chromosomal abnormalities are ruled out there's still the risk of heart issues so very relieved today 😊

JoJoyorker · 16/05/2018 20:33

Tiny that is great news! What a relief 😀

TinyTerror1 · 17/05/2018 13:36

Thanks JoJo Smile how did your NIPT go? When do you get the results?

heateallthebuns · 17/05/2018 14:19

Hi everyone, ok if I join? I'm 5 weeks I think. I did a test yesterday with a very dark line. I'm 42 and already have twins age 7 and a 5 year old. I'm not sure on dates because we weren't really trying. It's all a bit unreal still. I just went in mothercare and it seems like there's lots of new stuff that I didn't use!

Donnabillox · 17/05/2018 14:40

Hi heateallthebuns congratulations xxx

mittensofsteel · 17/05/2018 15:47

Hello there

@Cleozeta - I’m so sorry for your loss, miscarriage is awful and the futility really hits after 40. Flowers

May I join the thread too?

Currently 6 weeks 4 days.

I’m 42 and miscarried twins last November at 7 weeks and 8 weeks - hideous slow process witnessed on weekly scans.

Absolutely terrified and have booked a scan next Friday at the EPU. I could have gone earlier but I genuinely don’t want the long drawn out process again if it’s not looking good.

I’m so sorry - I don’t sound very positive! Still, it’s lovely to be pregnant again, that felt like an enormous hurdle in itself.

JoJoyorker · 17/05/2018 19:37

Tiny I had the NIPT on Monday. I should hopefully have the results tomorrow or it could be Monday which would mean a really long weekend :( 12 week scan next Wednesday. I had to do loads of heavy lifting at work this week and I've had terrible back ache since. I'm paranoid something has gone wrong.

Hi and congratulations to you heat and mittens. Sorry to hear you've had a tough time mittens. I hope your scan goes well next week

JoJoyorker · 19/05/2018 19:51

I had my NIPT results back and all low risk which was such a relief. Tonight I have started bleeding 😞 I'm absolutely terrified. I rang the EPU but they said I would need to ring out of hours doctor and get referred but they still wouldn't scan until Monday. I'll just have to see what happens I think.

Cleozeta · 19/05/2018 20:16

Oh no jojo I hope all ok. Did you have a scan with your NIPT test? If you did and it was all on track and looking good, chances are it's all fine.
When it comes to heavy lifting, midwife told me it would not harm baby but is more likely to cause you issues as your ligaments will be looser so more likely for injury. Please try not to worry. I totally understand the stress and panic, but chances are its all fine. You have come so far. Fingers, toes, and everything else crossed for you.

I'm going in for medical management on Tuesday. Blurgh

Oh Cleo I'm sorry you are having to go through that. I was hoping it would have happened naturally for you.
The last couple of days I've had backache which has been exactly the same as the backache I get before AF. It was on the right side and goes down my leg. I haven't had the pain today but then this bleeding 😩 yes I had the scan Monday and that was all fine.

Cleozeta · 19/05/2018 20:47

If you had a good scan at 10 weeks, chances of it going wrong after that are so low! Please try not to worry (easier said than done I know), the bleeding could be anything, and the backache could be ligaments or many other things. We are fragile in pregnancy and many strange things can happen that don't necessarily mean anything bad. But my question is - why does nature always do these things at the flipping weekend???
You'll be fine, keep busy, keep distracted. Monday will soon come around and you can be reassured.

Thank you so much Cleo I appreciate your reply. Yes I know it's always a weekend and you feel hopeless. I will try to keep busy and distracted, it's just so terrifying.

TinyTerror1 · 19/05/2018 22:16

Oh Jojo how scary for you. I hope everything is ok. Bleeding is very common, I think something like 1 in 3 successful pregnancies have some bleeding. But I know it's such a worry. Just a few days until your 12-week scan, really hoping it's all ok for you xxx

sparklyglitterball · 20/05/2018 21:19

Hope the bleeding has settled jo jo. How are you feeling? It's rubbish having to wait to get reassurance 😔. It's so true though that it's really unlikely to be anything sinister given your recent scan. Best of luck tomorrow. Cleo, hope things go as well as can be expected. Will be thinking of you.

Cleozeta · 21/05/2018 11:29

Sparkly - thank you. Very nervous about tomorrow but keen to get things finished up so I can move on.

Jojo - Hows it going? I hope you have your reassurance now

It's so strange as I woke up Sunday and it just stopped and I've had nothing since. There were two lots of red bleeds on Saturday night and then spotting the rest of the night and then it just disappeared. So I'm waiting until the scan on Wednesday now. It would have been difficult to sort childcare today so as there hasn't been anymore I didn't see much point in seeing anyone. Thank you both. I hope it goes okay for you this week Cleo and I will be thinking of you.

Baubletrouble43 · 21/05/2018 13:19

Congratulations! I had my twins a week after my 42nd birthday. You do know fraternal twins are more likely amongst us over 40 mums don't you? I'll never forget that 12 week scan... or DPs face!! No issues here aside from twin related ones. Enjoy x

Baubletrouble43 · 21/05/2018 13:21

Just read your update; hope all goes well. I didn't bleed but I have more than one friend who did and all turned out well xxx

Cleozeta · 21/05/2018 14:03

Glad to hear its stopped jojo. What a worry! Good luck on Wedsnesday.

Congrats on your twins bauble, bet that was a surprise! Smile

How did your scan go jojo?

OP posts:
JoJoyorker · 23/05/2018 18:57

It went well thank you Cleo. No signs of what caused the bleeding. Due date has been brought forward by over a week which was surprising but all ok. How are you? I hope things are as well as they can be.

Cleozeta · 23/05/2018 19:55

Great news! So pleased for you. You can relax now and enjoy your pregnancy. And tell people, how exciting!!
