Currently 36weeks and I am so hot I just don't know what to do with myself.

Anyone else feeling this way to?

DH has just heroically driven to Argos to purchase an electric fan, its now blowing on me as I lie on the sofa. It is bliss Smile

Nelly5678 · 18/06/2017 16:23

Try being 41 weeks

Ohb0llocks · 18/06/2017 16:25

I'm at the BBQ, sat in the shade. 2 burgers deep

needsomesunshineandwine · 18/06/2017 16:28

Only 24 weeks and I'm miserable, spent most of my weekend in bed in my underwear. Really need to get some maternity clothes. Dreading summer coming 😩

EssentialHummus · 18/06/2017 16:30

need I'm finding kaftans the best option at 28 weeks - Amazon for cheapies. Anything with actual trousers is unpleasant.

kel1234 · 18/06/2017 16:38

Ah I remember 2 years ago (when I was pregnant) feeling the same. I was due end of August, and I remember August especially being so hot (I longed for a nice cold alcoholic drink in the sunshine),

SelfObsessionHoney · 18/06/2017 16:44

I've got the fan off the woman in the bed opposite who's been discharged.
It's AMAZING.

AnnaL82 · 18/06/2017 16:57

36+3, back to give birth in my hot home country and dying.

Orangeseed · 18/06/2017 21:13

30 weeks, almost crying with frustration, currently laying in front of fan, almost pass out with any physical exertion. I have a full week of work to look forward to surrounded by sweaty teenagers (classroom temp above 40 not unheard of) and two late meetings, no fan. I have no idea how I will cope!

And felt liked punching my dh when he told me he knows how I feel (no he doesn't!) and gave me the wonderful advice of "turning up the air con".......hmmmm yeah because all schools have air con!

Hekabe · 18/06/2017 23:04

37 weeks. I'm boiling. I can't bear the touch of my own skin- which is really hard seeing as my legs and feet have expanded like balloons (genuinely think I've inherited someone else's legs) or, I've gotten really fat. In the legs. Can you tell I'm grumpy?

maudismyfavouritepony · 18/06/2017 23:19

Cold gel pillows from the fridge,

like this

cold sports towels in the fridge, fans blowing over frozen water bottles, cold packs for picnics on hand.....

Southwaite · 19/06/2017 00:08

36 weeks here.

The heat is torture. The mood is grim and tense in Southwaite Manor.

If my husband and I are still together come the due date, it'll be a miracle.

Uhtred · 19/06/2017 07:32

28 weeks here and I slept so badly last night was so hot and sweaty! It wouldn't be so bad but I have two under 4 and them climbing all over me and my youngest wanting to be carried in this heat is making me want to go and shut myself in a fridge alone! I can't face putting any clothes on today either, can I do the school run in just my granny knickers?!

Hekabe · 19/06/2017 09:54

I would say yes you can. I have a loose shirt and bikini on thus far. Can't bear anything else yet.

Effy1990 · 19/06/2017 10:18

I'm 36 weeks, don't cope well in hot weather anyway, and water gives me indigestion. I just want to cry I am so warm and this is just my 1st day on maternity leave, wish I was at work where there is aircon!

jclayclay · 19/06/2017 13:25

Hello, I'm 21 weeks - has anyone got any tips for getting through a working day with no AC and a commute in a car with no AC? Thank you. :)

Trytowin · 19/06/2017 13:38

Frozen bottles of water ( leave air gap so no exploding in freezer), wetting skin encourages temp down as it dries. Fan on is refreshing even if not cooled. I'm 24 +5 and suffering in an office that pretends to have air con but really doesn't. I have the pregnancy bonus of a fan but losing the will. No sleep, irritating colleagues, fan doing very little and rage. Want a cold shower and sleep.

DontBeBlueBeARainbow · 19/06/2017 13:49

29 weeks and 35-40 degrees where I am... 5 weeks of this till I come back to the UK where hopefully whatever the weather will be cooler than this!

The trip on the bus with the toddler in the pushchair today was just awful, sweat dripping down my face (and legs).

Arghhhhh

Spindelina · 19/06/2017 13:51

37 weeks. Have taken refuge from my office in the lab downstairs. Just heading back there now after going out for ice cream lunch.

SelfObsessionHoney · 19/06/2017 14:34

37 weeks. Still being induced in hospital from Saturday and have reached the superb dilation of 1 cm. awesome times.

wondering23 · 19/06/2017 14:47

35+5. Roasting in Cornwall. Chronic hayfever so can't sleep/breath either.

Tried to go to the beach yesterday to cool off in the sea - couldn't even walk across the sand it was that bloody hot.

Sat at work in a tent-like Sainsburys' sun dress I had to pick up on my way in this morning. Next to me is skinny-Minnie work colleague in beautiful summer frock and wedges. Lovely girl but looks too good to spend time with at the moment.

DH and I left the 40+ degree sauna (air conditioned paradise, I now realise) of Dubai a month ago to come back to my London home and give birth here... part of the rationale was that it would be better weather for me to walk in the park every day and stay active during my last stretch of pregnancy...

How wrong we were!!!!!

I'm melting. Currently 34+3. Sitting with my feet in a bowl of ice cold water and with a Nexcare ice pack draped around my neck. As well as the excellent earlier suggestions of Calippos, I'm also thoroughly enjoying Twister lollies.

DH can't sleep without AC regardless of the outside temperature, so when we arrived here we went to Currys and bought a portable air conditioning unit (£199 by Logik for anyone who's interested). I thought he was being ridiculous at the time - who needs AC in their house in England?! - and kept calling him the Princess and the Pea, but now I am so utterly grateful for this AC unit it is literally the most wonderful thing in my world right now.

ChoudeBruxelles · 19/06/2017 18:52

I've just made ds a cold tent. Double duvet cover, two fans (1 would be if its powerful) freezer blocks. Place freezer blocks just inside the duvet cover, point the fans into the cover and crawl in. Or get in and then get someone else to turn the fans on.

It seems odd but actually gets quite cool

vickifaith · 19/06/2017 19:11

I cannot cope!!! This heat is unreal.. And our house is mainly glass (glass floor to ceiling in most rooms including bedroom) which means it's like a green house... I'm lying naked with two fans and a wet flannel on me... Thanks for the previous recommendation of air con - if anyone else has any model they would like to recommend I will be buying one this week! X
