Currently 36weeks and I am so hot I just don't know what to do with myself.

Anyone else feeling this way to?

Ugh, I was there 4 years ago, OP -- DS was born during a heatwave. I'm not a sunworshipper anyway so was utterly demented for those last few weeks.

Here's what worked for me:

  1. Bucket of ice and water next to the bed. Dunk feet whenever they become unbearable at night - leave them in until your bones are aching with cold which might cool you down enough to fall asleep afterwards.
  1. I filled a cold bath (on mat leave from 36 weeks) at the beginning of each day and just dipped into it whenever I felt hot and bothered. Regular tepid showers are good too -- I found a good scrub with a loufah or one of those scrunchy things helps with the feeling of general grubbiness that is almost worse than being broiled alive in your own skin!
  1. Wash your hair, towel off the excess and leave it to air dry.
  1. Ice lollies. So many ice lollies.

Good luck! Flowers

39+2. Furious at the weather. Manic 2yo. And man flu. I ain't happy

vickifaith · 17/06/2017 19:34

32 weeks pregnant m....Husband on stag do... Two kids to look after...ear infection...anemia...and 28 degree heat....FML.

coursedarlin · 17/06/2017 19:46

I'm 35+5 and sitting here with my feet in a bucket of cold water as I can't be bothered to get up the stairs for a cold shower. I'm irritable and snappy and been for a trip to IKEA with no air conditioning and a stroppy 3 year old. My DD was born in may and I thought I was hot then but this is on another level I actually feel like I'm going to pass out half the time or kill someone the other half!

OkyDoke · 17/06/2017 19:48

30 weeks with UTI and thrush. Am dying. And husband bought curry for dinner. Genuinely want to cry. I feel so sorry for us all!

UnbornMortificado · 17/06/2017 20:06

26 weeks, I'm fed up. Wouldn't care usually love the sun.

Squeakymoo · 17/06/2017 20:26

I found wetting flannels or muslins and freezing them then laying them on legs or chest cooled me down a bit

ChoudeBruxelles · 17/06/2017 20:27

Wet a towel and sit with it on you in front of a fan

ChristmasSeacow · 17/06/2017 20:40

Another one due here. I am being induced on Tuesday if I haven't popped by then. I haven't been enjoying the heat at all but the last 24 hours I have really been suffering - I woke up several Times in the night literally gasping for air because I felt there was no oxygen in the room. Urgh.

I am hoping the delivery suite has aircon but I am not confident Hmm

And my feet are gigantic and barely fit into Crocs, and definitely nothing else fits. I am so over it now!

allthatnonsense · 17/06/2017 20:44

Water spray mist is your best friend.

Carry in your bag. You want to be cool and damp.

Blink1982 · 17/06/2017 21:35

35wks. It's shit. I find having my feet in the paddling pool helps but because the suns on me it makes the patchy skin colouring I've got this preggoness even more obvious.

Polly99 · 17/06/2017 21:39

I feel for you. My DD turned 11 yesterday and it was like this every bloody day in the weeks before (and after) she was born. I used to hang out of the bathroom window gasping for breath at night, my feet swelled every time I stood up and the only clothes that fit and weren't boiling were flip flops, my DHs boxer shorts and this awful vest top I had. I looked a state and felt one too! I'd advise lying on the kitchen floor sucking ice cubes for as long as possible.

Urglewurgle · 17/06/2017 22:36

27 weeks and been shopping in town today... Vile!

Sat in the car with the blower on and windows down and maxi dress pulled up to my waist.

Came home and sat in the garden with the hose pipe on my feet. Was amazing.

SelfObsessionHoney · 17/06/2017 22:48

I've been admitted onto the hottest antenatal ward in the world. It's truly awful. There are no fans and I have a jug of lukewarm water to keep me going. It's fucking hideous here.

SmileInAWhile · 18/06/2017 09:32

@SelfObsessionHoney, how are you doing today? Lukewarm water in this heat is horrific, can anyone bring you some ice cold bottles in a cool bag?

chelle85 · 18/06/2017 10:04

If one more person says to me 'I bet your hot...it's going to be a long summer for you' I may give birth to this baby in prison.

I do not know how I am going to get dressed for work tomorrow. The weekend has involves sitting naked in front of a fan

amymel2016 · 18/06/2017 10:16

39 weeks here, I don't know which is worse, being heavily pregnant in this weather or giving birth in it Confused fortunately I've bought 3 battery powered fans for the hospital so I'm putting all of those to the test today!

Woolly17 · 18/06/2017 10:38

Feeling all the pain here
38+2 and we bought a paddling pool for me to sit in. I'm just waiting for the sun to move round so it's in the shade.
I'm basically surviving on ice lollies, iced drinks, ice and ice cream. I can't drink enough water to stay hydrated.

TheLegendOfBeans · 18/06/2017 10:40

This. 20000000%

Emeraude · 18/06/2017 10:44

Calippos are such a lifesaver.

31+6 and very grumpy here. What can we do at work? I was sat there at times last week not really thinking about anything other than not throwing up. And it's going to be worse every day this week!

EssentialHummus · 18/06/2017 10:55

28 weeks here and went to two BBQs yesterday. Never. Again.

I'm skipping today's Big Lunch (very reluctantly) and staying in the living room in a kaftan. Can't freeze water fast enough.

SelfObsessionHoney · 18/06/2017 11:20

@smileinawhile
Better today thanks. Though my induction is going very, very slowly. DP came by this morning before he went to work which cheered me up and my mum is coming at visiting this afternoon. It's just very warm and very boring!

Ohb0llocks · 18/06/2017 11:30

I'm at McDonald's getting a frozen strawberry lemonade.

Ohb0llocks · 18/06/2017 11:30

I'm going to a BBQ today and plan to stay inside and sulk

watchingitallagain · 18/06/2017 12:01

33 weeks here. Also sat sulking. My feet, legs, basically my body is swollen. (Don't worry, it's not preeclampsia- I've got low blood pressure).

I've said it before. I'm a human barometer.
