I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk

If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is
brilliant:
024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy#!scenario

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Awww bendy baby!

Daffodil I HATE the "you look well" thing, I get this a lot at the moment. I mean yes I look better than I did a few months ago and I'm not vomiting on their shoes but that doesn't mean there's been a miracle cure. Hope you're just having a short relapse and feel better soon

Melleebacca · 26/05/2017 18:58

Flap - I'm glad you caved, although surprises are nice, with HG the bonding during pregnancy is so difficult that sometimes you need to know just to help it feel like it's going to work out. Cute little ball baby!

Lemon - congrats on your scan too. The scan days have a little bit of glow on them. With growth scans (if you need them) they measure less but the facial images get gradually less creepy.

Lucinda - DD has still spent lots of nights sprawled in bed with us. Bit easier now she's in a big girl bed, hubby went and climbed in with her at 2am when she was grizzling. They both sleep well in close proximity to others, whereas I need space and no one breathing on my face.

Holly - hope the glucose testing is going well and glad to hear you've been signed off. A week is do-able, just plan to have nothing else on so you get lots of rest. Also, take your time with the nursery, just one thing a day will cheer you up and also not wear you out too much.

Haich - hope everything works out with the bank and you can start nursery planning soon!

I really should start getting our nursery reorganized soon, but still behind on laundry from house guests and a toddler who getting food everywhere at the moment.

Supposedly it's my birthday today. But I'm mostly trying to ignore it. Can't eat cake or any of my favorite foods so is it really a birthday?

Waves to all

pippanippa · 26/05/2017 19:00

Lovely to hear scans all went well!

Ah, the 'you look well'. My mum surpassed herself recently. One day she commented on how thin I looked, the very next day she piped up with 'oh, you've got quite a belly on you now haven't you, must be feeling better.' All via Skype...Hmm.

The only thing which annoys me more is when people say 'please do let me know if there's anything I could ever do to help' when they really mean 'I'd love a mini-break (but only when it's convenient to me and inconvenient for you). If you can just provide accommodation, cook and clean for me. Ooh and I'd love to go out to that restaurant whilst we're visiting, you're looking better today, would you like to join us? - No? Really? Oh ok then well your DH will come with us won't he, we wouldn't want to go alone, you can stay home alone and sort something for dinner from the empty fridge, look after the toddler and clean up the mess we made from today, you don't mind do you?'.

Sorry - letting off a bit of steam from visitor induced tension here!

pippanippa · 26/05/2017 19:03

Oh, cross post, happy birthday Mellee. If you can stomach the thought of it I'd go for the cake. I had a little bit of chocolate cake last week and it tasted the same on the way up as down, so was very palatable!

Make sure you have a good birthday celebration once all this is over (I have committed to always buy myself a treat on DD's birthday as a present to myself for enduring pregnancy).

Melleebacca · 26/05/2017 19:14

Pippa - that is an absolutely perfect summary of houseguests. Except mine was a bachelor who just wanted the free accomodation.
Today I have my dad visiting and his 3 teenagers. The cleaning before the arrival wore me out yesterday, and you just know they're going to use every cup and plate in the house so will be doing dishes for hours after they leave.
I like the present idea on DDs birthday, didn't really get anything last year, but plan to get a nice eternity band with both kids names on it this year (helps DD is born labour weekend here and there's lots of sales!). As birthday is a round number, we are planning a joint celebration next year, when my toyboy hubby reaches the same milestone.

FlapAttack88 · 26/05/2017 19:21

Saw this and thought of us after our scans today lemon!

Hello all :) will catch up with this thread once I am settled in my insomniac cave and the little one asleep. Hope you've had a good as possible day

FlapAttack88 · 26/05/2017 19:22

Happy birthday Mellee!!...you will have to have a delayed cake once baby out!! A really amazing one to make up for the delay! Xxx

Hollyhop17 · 26/05/2017 19:30

Happy birthday Mellee! So sorry you dont feel like eating anything. I second cake, doesnt take too awful on the way back up. My birthday in January was a non event as well, planning to make up for it next year!

So pleased everyone's scans went well. Lots of us having boys too!

The testing is going ok thanks. I am remembering not to drink anything other than water for an hour after meals, I am convinced that is what caught me out last time and pleased to report all readings within normal limits so far.

I HATE the 'you look well' thing. I massively think it is a passive agressive way of saying 'see you're not that ill really'. Super winds me up when people say it. I got it quite a bit when I went back to work, I wish they had witnessed even one of my epic throwing up sessions in the loos...

There has been more of a breeze today so the nausea has been a bit better. Sorry to those suffering in the heat and suffering in general. Hugs.

Daffodil397 · 26/05/2017 19:54

Ooh good I feel better with knowing others are gritting teeth when the you look well comments come in!!
When I was in work last week I had my male colleague chirpily explain to me that he has all the same pregnancy symptoms as women, nausea, tiredness etc etc. I guess he was dealing with being in an office with quite a few expectant mothers but really he didn't know how lucky he was that I was feeling too knackered to smack him round the head with something heavy-AS IF!!!!!!
Mellee- a very happy birthday and I do sympathise with the distinct lack of feeling anything celebratory because you feel rough. You need to write yourself an iou for a birthday celebration with lots of cake when this is all over!
I have been rather obsessively researching contraception and sterilisation methods today. This pregnancy is definitely the last one!
Wishing you all as settled an evening as possible :-) xxx

Daffodil397 · 26/05/2017 19:55

Ps we're having a boy too!

LucindaE · 26/05/2017 20:35

Lemondrop and FlapAttack Lovely to see scan photos.
Daffodil What an annoying colleague! He what?! (and other such loutish remarks!) and Pippasnippa Oh dear, what selfish guests.
Mellebacca Happy Birthday. Have some cheap ice cream or a lolly (or did you say that you can't eat sweet things? If so, sorry; that's annoying of me!)
Hollyhop Silly Mother Hen meant weeks and didn't says so.
I do so agree about the 'you look well' comments being annoying.
Apologies to anyone rudely ignored.

I prefer the outrageous, utterly clueless comments that completely lack sensitivity (such as the chap who reckons he's got all pregnancy symptoms), to the sometimes passive aggressive "you look well", "have you tried..." etc, because at least when you moan about it later you don't get the "oh so and so was just trying to be kind/helpful", which is nearly as bad as the original comment.

NonStopDisco · 26/05/2017 20:55

Oh! And happy birthday Mellee 🍰🍸 for when you can celebrate in the style which you deserve!

OnNaturesCourse · 26/05/2017 21:50

Happy Birthday!

I just got a little cheer on from baby... He or she moved and I felt it! So early so it's extra special, little popping bubbles 💞 I had to come on here and ask if it was actually baby lol. Xx

fourcorneredcircle · 26/05/2017 22:05

wanders in

So erm, yes, hello. Sorry I've been away so long Blush

These last few weeks at work it's been enough to just get through the day but now I am done. 38 + 3 and I'm sure you can all imagine the sort of temperature my classroom has been hitting over the last few days.

Nothing exciting or new to report re: HG. Still doing first thing bile running every day. Still throwing up at random. Oh, the food aversions are back (although that could just be because no one really fancies food in this heat!).

Now... I just wait for baby I suppose!

Melleebacca · 26/05/2017 22:24

Thanks for all the birthday wishes all. To top things off, it looks like I'm coming down with a cold. Oh well.

Daffodil - the only men I know who get pregnancy symptoms are those going through chemo, so perhaps suggest that he gets checked out by the GP.

Flap - I had 2 cakes just for me last year to make up for the 2015 one that I missed. I let hubby have a sliver of each, but that was it. 😂

Melleebacca · 26/05/2017 22:30

Lucinda - can't do sweets, red meat and some veges. Going to have a greasy fatty burger for dinner, hoping it stays put as last time I bought it back up.

Four - you're so close!!! You can do it. I like to know my induction date so i can count down to that and not my due date. No disappointment then! DD came at 39+6, so I'm hopeful number 2 will want to be early too.

Daffodil - I've googled all sterilization methods, and even got a gynae who will tie my tubes for me despite being underage, I just will need to go through the system in my home town (which is rampant with teen pregnancies), rather than the city I live in (where people have kids at more normal ages). Also, hubby will get the snip while he's on paternity leave. 😂

Lemondrop99 · 26/05/2017 22:33

Omg.... Flap just gingered me!!!

Happy birthday Mellee. Double cake next year to make up for it!

waves to four. Not long to go!!!

Natures, it's awesome, isn't it? I've only been feeling movement for about 10 days and still finding it very novel. I didn't know what it was at first, but it's so unique that I guessed it couldn't be anything else.

Felt fine most of the day but had a wave of nausea hit this evening so dinner was a promethazine. Off to bed now as an early start and longish car journey for our ferry to IOW.

NonStopDisco · 26/05/2017 22:35

OnNature ooh that's exciting! I hope it is baby moving, I'm a few days in front of you and can't wait for movements!

circle well done you for going so long! Hope baby arrives soon!

mrsb87 · 27/05/2017 07:10

Morning all, well I thought I'd managed to avoid this due to starting Ondansatron early. The past couple of days have been getting worse and worse :-( my nausea has gone crazy, to the point all u can do is just sit there as doing much else makes me want to vom. I'm now having regular bile runs and eating is a veeeeery tentative thing. How on earth am I supposed to look after my 2yr old and prepare nutritious meals for him?! Feeling a bit sorry for myself today.
Is flossy still here? I know we have similar dates so was wondering how you were doing?

Melleebacca · 27/05/2017 07:54

MrsB - see what you can buy that's healthy. Here we can buy puréed sachets of fruit, veges and yoghurt. DD had them a lot. And hubby would prepare fruit and nuts in little boxes in the morning so I only had to open containers for her.

I've had the worst day that I've had in probably 2 months. A tiny piece of barely sweet cake, and a house of guests all day, and constipation had led me to be nauseous all day long.

FlapAttack88 · 27/05/2017 08:17

holly glad you have 2 weeks off work.. as horribke as that is that you are so unwell you need it :(

mustang that was me asking about toddler. Hats off to you ! I remember my little one was soo attached to me when bf and when teething wanted to all the time... you're a hero. Hope things are ok and glad you have the cyclizine to try too

haich hope you have managed to get some rest. When I wasnt signed off I was just working, vomiting and sleeping and that was my whole life. Its not that much better now to be fair but at least I can nap! Hope you're ok.

Waves to everyone else .. i need to read your posts again as i have suxh poor memory at thr moment haha! Sorry to hear some of you having an especially rough time especially with the weather

and four who is so close!!! HanG in there! Hope you all have a good a day as possible.

Its my little boy's 3rd bday party today with lots of our family and friends coming toom. Having it at a soft play thing at least. Not seen lots of these people for so long and so I am a bit nervous . I am sure I will come back later with lots of outrageous / thoughtless comments I have had from them. My be I should set up a bingo grid. A 3 by 3 one... I can include

  1. Ginger?
  2. Hg.. so just bad morning sickness really
  3. But you look well.. and surely the sickness is better now you're 20 weeks
  4. At least you have a head start of shifting baby weight
  5. Lucky you being signed off work
  6. Ah yore having another boy. . Are you disappointed. Will you have a 3rd now?
  7. Medication isn't safe.. you should.stop it

Hmm I need two more ?!?!

I will try not to punch anyone . I am looking forward to it and thinking positively it will be lovely to see people . Some.I haven't seen for months though and include people who have been offended and a bit put out by my disappearance from life. I want to try and act normal and not tall about how tough its actually been as i wqnt tonficus on birthday but then I also worry they wI'll be even more offended I haven't managed to accept cinema invite/visit newborns as muxh as I wanted to/been working for a month etc etc.

So maybe I will take a rennie and a cherry powerade and put our Halloween planning into action . Bring on the foamy red sick show!!

Melleebacca · 27/05/2017 08:30
  1. I had bad sickness too, threw up once a day for a few weeks
  2. Have you tried crackers?
FlapAttack88 · 27/05/2017 08:41

Oh number 8 😂😂😂
