Spotting - 5+4 weeks (TMI alert!)

I'm around 5 +4 weeks pregnant and last night started to get some brown spotting. It's kind of similar to EWCM but brown. I did get the same around the time I would have gotten my period (assumed it was implantation after the BFP) but now this a couple of weeks later.

I've had two miscarriages back to back so I'm really nervous this is the start of another one. I have a call into the GP to see if I can get a referral to the EPU.

Have any of you had the same thing? & did you manage to get a referral to the EPU?

I'm terrified that they'll fob me off and tell me to wait & see....

Hi wombletor, thank you for replying! I keep just imaging I'm gointo go there in a few weeks and still have a scan that's showing I'm around 4 weeks. My midwife wasn't happy with the sonographer for saying all these things because of the panic it has put me in. I'm hoping you are right and all is okay! Thanks again. Are mild period like pins normal? They're easing off now but the past two weeks I've had really mild aches at the bottom of my tummy and a headache today so that's set me off on a worry as they said headaches can be a cause of miscarriage. 2 years ago I lost my niece when she was 7 weeks old and my sister has suffered 2 MC since then so I just worry so much and it's awful being in this limbo and having to wait to know if your baby is going to be okay! How are you? Hope things work out for you and all is okay xx

Wombletor · 14/11/2016 15:34

Hi

KTM, period like stretch pains are normal, its only concerning if you have bleeding. Try not to worry. x

Celizabe, how are you? I hope you are OK.x

I am OK thanks, I have a scan tomorrow morning which will hopefully conclude things for me. I am prepared and ready to move on :-(

jpeg28 · 14/11/2016 15:57

How are you all?

Ktm period pains are completely normal... also I agree with Womble you could just be 4 weeks and that would be completely normal. Even at 5 weeks for me they only saw a sac. You're not bleeding or in real extreme pain so for now, don't worry!! I had a private scan at 7 weeks and it really put my mind at ease as I saw a tiny heartbeat flicker even though I was actually bleeding at the time.

Womble I've been thinking of you, I really hope that tomorrow is good news. If it's not, then I hope so much that you get your BFP again really soon and go on to have a healthy pregnancy. I think that's so out of order what your friends were saying. It's up to you whether you want more children whatever the risks.

Ktm16 · 14/11/2016 16:47

Thank you womble, fingers crossed. I hope all goes well tomorrow and you get good news. We're all here for you xx

Jpeg28 thank you for replying to my post, yeah I'm hoping that you're right. I did a clear blue test again today and the cross came straight up within seconds but took longer on other cheaper tests. I'll see what the midwife says next Tuesday. Thank you so much for replying though it's awful having nobody around me that has much knowledge of these things. I hope you are well too jpeg28 x

jpeg28 · 14/11/2016 17:38

Ktm that's a good sign that the cross is coming up straight away. Your midwife will hopefully put your mind at ease. Sometimes you can get cheap private scans on groupon too!

Ktm16 · 14/11/2016 17:48

Yeah jpeg28 I thought that but I keep putting doubt into my own mind because of that woman that scanned me! My midwife wasn't happy with how she said all that to me (I know she was explains risks) so I'm scared of goig for an private scan again now! I know it sounds silly and don't get me wrong I'm still very inexperienced as I'm only 22 I'm still learning. I work in a care home so I worry about working there too with it being a demanding job. I just need to try and relax I know it's just so hard x

Wombletor · 15/11/2016 11:17

Hi jpeg28

Surprisingly my scan revealed a normal heartbeat and growth although I measure a week behind. I had a million questions about embryonic bradycardia being an indicator of demise but the Dr said all embryos are bradycarfic initially and at my last scan the heart may have just started beating. They were very positive but I just can't embrace it. We are remaining cautious and neutral and I'm going back next Tuesday.

KTM how are you? I hope you aren't worrying yourself too much. Your midwife sounds nice listen to her. X

BertieBotts · 15/11/2016 11:21

Great news, hope everything is OK and spotting has not restarted.

It's so nerve wracking in the first few weeks but at least you know it's not ectopic.

Good luck everyone x

Ktm16 · 15/11/2016 13:06

Oh womble I'm so happy for you! Your little beans heart is strong, stay cautious but try to stay positive! :) I'm trying not to worry myself at all, just scared of over doing it at this time in pregnancy with 12 hour shifts! :/ but I'm trying to be posative also. It's so great having you lovely ladies to unload worries on and listen to your worries too xx

Wombletor · 15/11/2016 13:11

Hi KTM
Thanks x
I'm glad you're not worrying so much. Are you taking a pregnancy multi vit? Make sure you are. Don't worry, working your shifts won't cause a MC. Just make sure you eat well, stay hydrated and get some early nights. Xx

Ktm16 · 15/11/2016 13:37

I have just started spotting bright red 😔 Got to go the doctors at 4:20 x

celizabe · 15/11/2016 13:42

Hi All,

Just catching up on all the posts. I've been trying to stay away from Mumsnet in the lead up to my scan tomorrow... didn't mean to go AWOL!

Just trying to keep my head clear and keep my fingers crossed.

Womble, I'm so thrilled for you! That's fantastic news on your scan. I can completely understand you being cautious, I would be too; but we've got to take the good news where we can! Sorry to have been away from your news for few days, thank you for checking in x

Ktm, at my scan on the 7th Nov, according to my LMP I should have been 6 +1 but the scan picked up a gestational sac, yolk sac but no foetal pole. I obviously got freaked out but then checked to see what the measurements mean. Apparently, you take the mean gestational sac diameter and add this to 4 weeks. So for me, the diameter was 10.7 so I was really only 5+3 or 5+4 at the scan when you wouldn't expect to see a pole or hear a heartbeat. Do you have your measurements so you could work it out like that? It might set your mind at ease?

Hope everyone is feeling okay today x

Thank you ladies, trying not to get upset but it's hard. I'll keep you all updates. Thank you xx

Hulaballoo · 15/11/2016 14:43

Hope it all goes well KTM, with my last pregnancy I bled bright red at 9 weeks, and quite a lot, really thought I mc, but went to the hospital and was scanned, they had no idea where the bleed came from but all was fine. It can be a random thing sometimes. I hope your little bean is sticky for you. Xx

Ktm16 · 15/11/2016 15:03

Thank you hullaballoo, hearing your story makes me hopeful! I have an appointment at the epau now tomorrow at half past 10. Thank you I hope my little bean is sticky too! Really does mean so much having all this support! Xx

celizabe · 15/11/2016 15:46

Hi Ktm, I hope everything goes well for and that your appointment tomorrow with EPU brings good news x
