Today I've been admitted to hospital and told my baby will need to be delivered in next 24 hours due to poor growth and almost no waters. Baby is only measuring at 1lb 2oz with a less than 50% chance of survival. My husband and I are devastated and terrified. Has anyone been in a similar situation?

Titchy and LPNM hope Bea and your DS are both getting stronger

Have you been able to do kanga cuddles yet TitchyPanda? (If not, then wear or take with your a shirt that buttons up down the front, like a man's shirt and ask about doing kanga cuddles)

RTKangaMummy · 29/10/2016 05:36

Sorry misread your name LBNM

Titchy I've been away for a few days but was watching this thread with everything crossed. How is Bea? Flowers

Titchypanda · 30/10/2016 10:55

Hi All, it's been a tough week this week. Bea has been fighting an infection, so ventilation has been difficult and she's been stable some days and less so on others. She's currently on high flow oscillation which seems to be more stable than her previous ventilation. She's on 5ml an hour feeds. We've not been able to hold her in kangaroo care as she's on oscillation. She will need to be off that and stable a few days before we're allowed to. She currently weighs 700g and is 18 days old.

I know a 24w 1lb 3oz birth, long time in scbu with several complications, I won't list here as it's not my story. He was so delicate and tiny, he's 15 now and a strapping lad.

Much love to everyone on this thread.

titchy sending you all good vibes - I will continue to think of Bea. She sounds like a real little fighter.

Sending you thoughts and wishes!

"And though she be but little, she is fierce" definately comes to mind! Your little bea is amazing!

Hang in there mama Flowers

Mermaid36 · 31/10/2016 07:40

titchy huge hugs to you and Mr Titchy, and gentle comfort holding to Bea. My little twin (birth weight 650g) was on the oscillator for a couple of weeks. It was the only type of ventilation that worked for her and the thing that helped her pull through basically. We used to call her our Wobbly Baby.

We've all got our fingers crossed for Bea here in the Mermaid household x

Titchypanda · 01/11/2016 09:16

Thanks for all your kind words. They are trying to sedate her in order for her to rest as she is a real wriggler, so the ventilator can't work properly if she's continuously moving. She's on new antibiotics and they are testing everything for infection. Morale on the unit is low at moment as sadly a baby died yesterday and all the families and staff are devastated for the family. We are all trying to be positive and hopeful for our babies, but it really hits you when these things happen.

Sending best wishes Titchy xx

Mermaid36 · 01/11/2016 11:38

Oh Titchy! I wish I could come and give you big hugs! It's so bloody difficult, isn't it. Such a crap experience to go through.

Our Wobbly Baby used to burn through sedatives like sweets. She was on morphine and double doses of pancuronium and was still wiggly!

saffronwblue · 01/11/2016 19:36

Oh titchy what a tough time and place for you all. Hope Bea has a good day tomorrow.

Mooey89 · 01/11/2016 19:53

RTKangaMummy · 04/11/2016 15:55

Sending you all {{{cyberhugs}}} xxx

Mermaid36 · 09/11/2016 19:12

Hope you, MrTitchy and Bea are all doing well xx

RasperryInAMelon · 12/11/2016 07:11

How's little Bea doing Titchy?

sweetchilli77 · 12/11/2016 08:58

My baby was born at 27 weeks, not as tiny as your LO but still. She was 1lb 13. She was also ventilated and sedated etc and at one point declined in health.

The staff on the NICU was absolutely amazing and my little girl flourished. She was discharged on oxygen after being in NICU for over a 100 days and was almost term when she came home.

Its a very worrying time what your going through and i really understand. it sounds as though she is a good little fighter.

Bliss organisation are a brilliant charity also who helped me a lot through all of this.I will keep looking on this thread and i send you all my love. Make sure your also resting as i know how draining it can be at hospital every day x

RTKangaMummy · 13/11/2016 00:20

Hope Bea is growing stronger each day
