Stretch Mark Survey

Hello, I've seen many threads discussing stretch marks and the creams and lotions people use. Since I was wondering whether to bother spending my Christmas Space NK vouchers on BioOil or similar; Mr TDOC kindly helped me design an internet survey.
I'm not doing this for any purposes other than my own selfish ones!
When I have enough responses, I'll collate the data and post it here, so we can all see the results.
The survey is aimed at people who have been pregnant, whether you used any stretch mark creams or not. It's only 4 questions and will take about 90 seconds to complete.
Take the survey here

Done - have to agree - spend the vouchers on something else!

Seansgirl · 12/12/2006 12:25

done!

squidgeymiller · 12/12/2006 12:27

done - spend it on something nice, imo none of the "special creams" work anyway!

done - have to say not sure if the creams work, but it was nice to massage them on to my tummy, and they smelt good!

Done, I dont think the creams make a difference it all depends on skin type. However its always lovely to pamper ourselves especailly when pregnant

I didn't put this in the survey but a dermatologist told me that no over the counter cream could prevent stretch marks as the skin is damaged from below not above. He said the best thing you can do for stretch marks is eat plenty of protein, as these provide the building blocks for collagen & keep well hydrated.
Apparently, the paler & more freckley the skin the less collagen it is likely to contain & the more likely you are to get stretch marks.

Tinker · 12/12/2006 13:34

Pale skin - no stretch marks.

taylormama · 12/12/2006 13:45

have completed the survey and BTW spend your vouchers on something ridiculously indulgent not bio-oil!

twelvedaysofchristmas · 12/12/2006 13:45

Brilliant, we're really getting somewhere. Will do some prelim results tonight when I'm at home. Provided I don't fall asleep in cumpled pregant heap on the sofa again!

Thanks to all who have done the survey so far.

Very few stretch marks for me - but lots of wrinkles!

Done.

I too was told stretch marks depended on skin type. Didn't get any but I think this was luck.

Don't waste your vouchers on creams - these companies know what buttons to press to make us paranoid enough to give them our hard earned cash.
