Stretch Mark Survey

Hello, I've seen many threads discussing stretch marks and the creams and lotions people use. Since I was wondering whether to bother spending my Christmas Space NK vouchers on BioOil or similar; Mr TDOC kindly helped me design an internet survey.
I'm not doing this for any purposes other than my own selfish ones!
When I have enough responses, I'll collate the data and post it here, so we can all see the results.
The survey is aimed at people who have been pregnant, whether you used any stretch mark creams or not. It's only 4 questions and will take about 90 seconds to complete.
Take the survey here

have done it babes!! looking forward to the results!!

buy something wonderfully decadent with the vouchers....creams make not a jot of difference as it is the collagen in the skin , not the surface of the skin that is being stretched.....xxx

Agree with those who say save your money but....

I had some Cocoa Butter stuff and while it probably didn't make any difference to not getting stretch marks it was still lovely to massage in etc

jenwa · 12/12/2006 21:36

I like the bio oil, I sometimes put afew drops in the bath as its easier to rub in whilst you are lying there and I tend to forget to put it on once I have got out (especailly as its getting colder now and all I want to do is put on my PJ's!)

Loreal cream was also good and smelt nice.

At the end of the day though it is down to the skin and beneath the layers. You need to massage the skin everyday to get visable results from the creams and I dont ever think the stretch marks will ever go but hopefully will fade.
I was told that fake tan was also a good cover up! A friend recommended it. Never seem to get round to pampering myself anymore though (hence putting oils in bath as quicker!)

Preliminary Results!

There have been 227 responses so far, so thank you everyone.

A whopping 47.6% of us already had some stretch marks before our pregnancies, including those from adolescence.

59% of us have used some sort of stretch mark cream in pregnancy.

Only 36.6% of total respondents got no stretch marks during pregnancy.
Of those women who did not have any stretch marks before pregnancy, 49.1% had none after pregnancy, whether they used creams or not.
Of those women who did not have any stretch marks to begin with, and who did not use any preparation at all, 52% still had none after pregnancy and 28% had just one or two here and there. So this seems to fit with the thinking that, "some people just don't get stretch marks". Again, these results are preliminary (and I'm teaching myself to use the survey database as I go along...) so we'll revisit them as more results come in.

Because the use of each product is widely split, the actual numbers for each product usage are small, so it would be too unscientific to break the survey down too much at the moment. I'll leave it open for another while to see if we get more responses. Plus, I will go through the "other product" responses and see if they can be banded together into "oils", "creams" and so on to give a broader picture.

I'm hoping to be able to see if any of the products seem to have a particular "success rate." (Because that's what we're really after )

I grant you, I am not a statistician or a particularly good survey maker, so you'll forgive me for my unscientific results I hope!
