Excellent news Dot, hope it's all going well!

Example of foreplay in the Fennel household:
Him: "Do you need some more cervix-banging?"
Her: "I suppose we shouldn't let those prostaglandins go to waste."

Who said romance dies when you have children?

I'm impressed at your stamina, Fennel

motherinferior · 08/04/2004 08:55

Personally I think that's much more impressive than Taking Control of Labour (which, let's face it, is a LOT easier to talk about when you're not faced with it!)

MrsDoolittle · 08/04/2004 10:30

OMG Where have I been to miss all this excitement!!!! Dot is having her baby!! Oh the very best of luck to her Am concentrating on those vibes now.. Thinking about this really gets me scared because I may not be far behind her. Although, she did seem quite excited.
Maybe in sympathy but I was dreaming that dh was driving very fast (bizarre cos he never does) and it was making me feel really sick and making my bump really ache. Well it woke me up at 6.15 and I was still feeling sick and my tummy was rock hard. This lasted for a good few hours, which is why I am late logging on. I couldn't let dh touch my bump as he left this morning it hurt so much. Anyway, it has eased off now.
I refuse to get excited though as I am wising up to these little tricks my body keeps playing on me!!! Still hurts though.

Hi all - MOAN TIME!!

Still here and no baby in sight... I had brilliant contractions coming every 8 - 10 minutes - really strong (pressing that boost button like a mad thing!) and then at 2.30am they stopped.... Waited for a bit - I was still up - but then went to bed 'cos I was knackered, and slept until 7am, and since I've been up have only had about half a dozen in the last 4 hours - this is rubbish!

So it looks like I'll be going in at 3pm today to be induced after all...

Why would my contractions stop all of a sudden? Why, why, why???????! Am thinking 'come out baby' thoughts but they're not working...

Anyway, I suppose once I'm in hospital this afternoon they're not going to let me come home without a baby..!

motherinferior · 08/04/2004 11:03

NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!

Blu · 08/04/2004 11:08

Nipple Stimulation!

Fennel · 08/04/2004 11:08

Dot, oh dear.

better get down to some nipple-twiddling then.

Am going against my better judgement and getting involved in heated debates on other threads. I should really know better and just leave these threads alone, will regret it I know. the stress of waiting for labour is getting to me. Which is worse, staying pregnant, or going into labour? BOTH are grim prospects.

OP posts:
dot1 · 08/04/2004 11:17

Fennel - which threads are you getting heated on? I need a distraction!

I think personally it's worse to stay pregnant AND in labour at the same flipping time...!! I was so happy when the contractions were coming - even though they were really painful, it was great watching the clock knowing that the next one was coming soon and I was being v. positive - you know, each contraction = nearer to baby being born. Now I'm just miserable and feeling knackered and kind of generally ill...

Still, at least one of my worst fears - of them having to break my waters with the crochet hook thing - has gone!

MrsDoolittle · 08/04/2004 11:20

Hey Guys, I am feeling rubbish this morning too. I am going to lurk too - can't focus on anything else today

MrsDoolittle · 08/04/2004 11:21

Dot I am so sorry

handlemecarefully · 08/04/2004 11:24

Dot,

Very best of luck for later this afternoon. Can't wait for it all to happen for you

dot1 · 08/04/2004 11:29

Hi Mrs D - hopefully feeling rubbish is a good sign! By the time I'm out of hospital I want to see more of these flipping babies being born..!

Right, I'd really better go and do something - supposed to be keeping mobile - not that that seems to work, but it's worth a wander into the kitchen (to make a coffee and seek out dolly mixtures) and then into the lounge (to settle down in front of the telly)..!

Tinker · 08/04/2004 11:30

Oh it's got to be today Dot. It's my daughter's birthday and she too as due on 31 March.

MrsDoolittle · 08/04/2004 11:34

I am going to sign off now too. I need to focus on something else. Has anyone seen the thread about being broody? Don't read it ladies. I was warned and I couldn't stop myself.
I found Fennel having a grand time on another thread over there but I can't be arsed to get involved in anything.
Sending you good vibes dot!

Fennel · 08/04/2004 11:35

Dot, going for a walk etc is supposed to help. I'm sure you don't feel like it though.

Am getting over-involved in the civil partnerships for gay couples/cohabiting/marriage arguments.

am worried that if I go overdue I will lose all caution and start posting on private v state education and Gina Ford!

OP posts:
hewlettsdaughter · 08/04/2004 11:38

Oh Dot, sorry things have quietened down for you temporarily. And MrsD, hope you feel more positive soon! Am off to find which threads Fennel has been contributing to....

Fennel · 08/04/2004 11:39

Where is Lesley? is she popping her sprog or just lying in?!

still waiting to see where some of the others who used to post here are. Bluecow, Metrobaby and others - maybe there are lots of April babies but it's just the bored frustrated still waiting ones of us who keep posting here.

OP posts:
hewlettsdaughter · 08/04/2004 11:39

Go for it, Fennel!

dolbear · 08/04/2004 13:26

oooo dot , thats completely PANTS
positive vibes heading to u and Mrs D ( sounding like scarey earth mothyer type )
have tried sitting up , but that gives me that odd heartburn thing ( on the right ) odd but eh oh
maybe the baby has moved the heart to the wrong side??? ha ha
trivia news , our loo is now leaking and I have to fill the systen everytime I want to flush it !
timing , bloomin great !

peppergirl · 08/04/2004 14:03

dot,

hope i catch you b4 u go to hospital, best of luck and all that, i'm very jealous, you'll have your babe by tonight, i'm sure of it. go girl !!!

Pineapple and curry combo v bad idea, i was up all night with stomach cramps - not baby pushing ones either, feel thoroughly miserable at the prospect of potentially another fortnight of limbo and mad at myself for being so miserable - does that make sense ?

emmagee · 08/04/2004 14:10

Dot, hope things are moving now, it's such a bugger that it all stopped. You could try some acupressure, there are specific points which should be avoided during pregancy but can be useful to get things going. Have a look at this site acupressure When I had acupuncture to help get things moving with baby no.2 they used the points on my hands, knees and inside ankle. I see that on the link above it does have a recommendation for when waters have broken but things slow down. Also, I know flopping on the sofa feels appealing, but try to keep as unpright as possible because gravity and the baby's head pushing onto your cervix will make contractions far more effective. If you get tired then try standing about half a metre away from a wall, facing it, then lean with your arms stretched up the wall and circle your hips, this should also help when the pains come back.

MrsDoolittle · 08/04/2004 14:23

Hiya everyone,
I have been too uncomfortable to write much on this today. I am also awre that I need to keep moving, so have been busy hoovering. Also decided to make another carrot cake, I am sure I must be contracting or something because there is definately something very odd and distracting going on.
Btw Fennel, my carrot cake recipe uses oil but I found olive oil tasted too oily in the last one (if that makes sense) so I tried almond oil in this one (expensive). What do you do?
I ought to walk the dog really but after my activity this morning I can't find the energy.
I must keep moving though.
I guess you must be on your way to hospital now Dot - Goodluck .
How about you dolbear? And aren't you due to peppergirl? And emmagee. I am going to lean against a wall I think!!

peppergirl · 08/04/2004 14:46

mrs D,

I'm due on saturday. My DS was a week early so i've been falsely hoping for a week or so now. When is everyone else due ? are you all over 40 weeks ? i read somewhere that in france they measure a pregnancy as 41 weeks - so hardly anyone is overdue !

hewlettsdaughter · 08/04/2004 14:49

I'm just 38 weeks. Haven't been on maternity leave long and not frustrated yet, but feel for those of you who are!
