Lesley76 · 29/03/2004 23:43

Oh good Dolbear, i thought it was just me not in labour. Pains in pelvis sound horrid - is it SPD or whatever its called?

Mrs D - I thought the prostaglandins were meant to soften or ripen the cervix? Also i THOUGHT YOUR DH WAS AT THE RUGBY ALLL WEEKEND? !!!!! Hmmmm you bad girl what have you been up to???

How are you Fennel & Lucy?

Lesley76 · 30/03/2004 08:13

Good morning campers - how are we all today? Any more babies arrived during the night? Mrs D, Lucy, Fennel - what's happening with you?

LucyJones · 30/03/2004 08:21

Hi Lesley - had braxton hicks in the night but nothing like contractions. Due date today but I think it will be a very uneventful day! Tried the pineapple and curry - dh not that interested in sex at the moment - can't say I'm surprised!! Have started on the raspberry leaf tea - how much should i be drinking does anyone know? Good luck Mrs Doolittle with your contractions

handlemecarefully · 30/03/2004 08:33

Congratulations Udar on the birth of your little girl :0

handlemecarefully · 30/03/2004 08:34

or even

MrsDoolittle · 30/03/2004 08:34

Morning Ladies,
Contractions got me up this morning, but nothing exciting in that. It's been like this for almost a week now. How booorrring!
As for dh, well England lost (he's a Kiwi, he didn't want them to win) and Ireland won! So he was feeling very pleased with himself. As for me - I wanted the baby out!!!
I can feel another day making numerous trips to the toilet coming. My cervix MUST be doing something though, puuuurleeeeaase, it aches.

Lesley76 · 30/03/2004 09:00

Lucy - whatdaya mean, your Dh isn't that interetsted in sex at the moment!!!! As if a 9 months pregnant woman isn't irresistable?? As if any of US are interested in sex (or curry or pineapple or raspberry leaf tea) !!! Tell the man to pull himself together and do his husbandly duty- this isn't about what you feel like!! Hands up everyone who feels like going through labour in the next few days - SEE!!!! If you let him get away with this stuff now, where will it all end? Will he wait til he feels like it to change a nappy or do a night feed? If he wanted to do what he was interested in or felt like he should have stayed single!!

MrsDoolittle · 30/03/2004 09:10

Here Here Lesley!!

motherinferior · 30/03/2004 09:21

Ooooh, good luck everyone.

Lesley, I remember trying to work out whether I was in labour or not with dd1. DP and I solemnly concluded that I couldn't be, because what I felt was the same as escalating BH. We were wrong

Fennel · 30/03/2004 09:25

morning all. should have posted last night cos I was really happy yesterday but have slept badly and am VERY grumpy this morning. so far, have argued twice with DP (once in bed, once to his office ansafone while he was still on the way to work so he'll arrive to be argued at), shouted at dds (who woke me up too early) and am about to sack the cleaner (yes, very sensible to sack the cleaner at 38 weeks pregnant but she's not very good at cleaning, though a nice person, and it's bugging me).

can't say I'm start-stopping, nothing since friday .
My dp is so desperate for sex I should send him out for relief, but I just can't be bothered. don't feel like curry either. in normal non-pregnant life I like curry and sex but not now.

can you tell I'm in a bad mood?

OP posts:
MrsDoolittle · 30/03/2004 10:10

Sorry to hear you are grumpy this morning Fennel. I haven't been able to eat curry since I got pregnant, infact, I haven't been able to meat hardly! Did you get grumpy with your last pregnancy? Or is just the waiting that makes us grumpy?

Fennel · 30/03/2004 10:18

I think the waiting is just hard work. am very tired today. also have heartburn, like several others it seems. I was very grumpy when I went a week overdue with dd1.

am hoping for someone like Dot1 to post with baby announcement to cheer us all up.

OP posts:
MrsDoolittle · 30/03/2004 10:28

Yeah, I know what you mean. I Don't do heartburn!! I feel to heavy to go out and too bored to stay in!!

LucyJones · 30/03/2004 12:40

lol lesley Bit fed up today too. Midwive told me to phone her today if haven't got an appointment for check up at hospital. She phoned back and said it was today at 2pm! So phoned dh at work and he is on his way home as no transport and hospital quite a walk away. then post arrives (at 11.30am - usually comes b4 dh leaves for work) and appt is in fact on Thursday at 2pm (checked with hospital and midwive had told me wrong day) but of course dh already left work. Sorry ranting away but annoyed at midwive for telling me wrong day and late postmen

emmagee · 30/03/2004 13:12

I have decided that if after a week of on/off etc, it hasn't started then I should just go back to assuming it will be late and stop living in a state of anxiety/excitement! So have been out in my potting shed, then trying to fix cistern because now that our boiler has finally been fixed, the loo has broken - started making a weird noise at 4am, overflow pouring out gallons of water etc etc. Having tried to fix it for half and hour I had to wake DH with the words 'honey wake up, I'm not having the baby don't panic'. Poor man had only been asleep for 2 hours after working v.late. My plumbing skills are very limited but I just can't afford a plumber to do what seems like a simple job - unfortunately new part doesn't come with IKEA style 33 step instructions, infact it doesn't come with any! Any plumbers amongst you all? Then a nap I think, since today I have no children until 3 and then I have take them swimming, for which I need my energy!! Lesley is the sun shining where you are? if so find a sheltered spot and just sit out in it and enjoy.

MrsDoolittle · 30/03/2004 13:25

I share your philosophy emmagee. So I have gone around checking that everything is set for when baby arrives - following in the footsteps of last week. Hoovered, cleaned, washed and swept - now am thinking I might venture outside for a coffee with a friend. I need to try and forget I am expecting a baby AT ANY MOMENT!!!! and reading seems impossible. Any other suggestions? Weather is dull here.

emmagee · 30/03/2004 17:42

I wish I could hoover (and believe me that's a very rare thing!), the house is DISGUSTING!!! but with very bad pubic pain and sacro-iliac, it totally does me in. Swimming with the kids wasn't too bad today - usually it's such a battle to get them out that I end up a screaming banshee. DH home soon and tomorrow I think a trip to Mothercare for changing mat and nursing bras....and then? Also I do have midwife appointment tomorrow and am considering asking her to examine me to see if ANYTHING has been going on, but she's a bit of a cold fish, so I'll play it by ear - perhaps a little sweep might get things moving? (can't quite believe I am volunteering for an internal!)

dot1 · 30/03/2004 17:55

CONGRATULATIONS UDAR!!!!!!! Hope you're OK - dp had an emergency caesarean and it can all be a bit of a shock - but lovely you've got your dd - let us know how you are as soon as you can!

I'm still here! Just not been able to log on for a while. Still getting painful 'contractions' on and off - definitely getting more painful, but still not regular... Getting VERY fed up, but glad baby didn't come today as it's dp's birthday so her day is still special to her! Due date = tomorrow though, so I may well be posting lots of as the day goes on and there's no sign of baby!

dot1 · 30/03/2004 17:56

PS - isn't it amazing to have the first March graduate - I've gone all emotional!!

dolbear · 30/03/2004 21:01

actualy had a nice day today , sun was shinning and managed 2 hrs in town pottering , done all the washing , no ironing ha ha
even did a bit of gardening dh has packed and re packed the bags three times so far
no pains ( except back , neck and shoulders ) no nothing
does anyone else think it as macabre that we are all sitting around waiting for pain ?
I am so tired od bein frightened , i am not used to it , i just want it over so i can say that I can do it , I can not stand the mothers that I know laughing at my fear in my face any more
sorry to rant , but i am sick of it, the oh u have no idea , just u wait etc
rahhhhhh

Fennel · 30/03/2004 21:11

hi Dolbear

Ignore the smug new mothers. I just got really irritated by a load of them today at aquanatal class, and I am a 3rd timer but still find them patronising. One today has just had her first by home birth and told me it was because she "didn't like hospitals". stupid cow does she think we all went for ventouses, emergency caesarians etc because we fancied it?

It is scary waiting to go into labour, cos even if you've done it before you have no idea how it will be this time. it's so much down to luck.

Metrobaby · 30/03/2004 21:25

Congratulations Udar ! What lovely news.

I haven't been able to log onto Mumsnet for ages recently as I was really busy at work last week and this is the first week of my ML. I reckon my list of to-do things must be the same as HMC's ! I have 3 weeks to go and frantically getting all the last minute stuff for my hospital bag (half packed currently), and doing shed loads of washing of bedding and baby clothes.

I have come down with a cold and painful sore throat too so feeling rather miserable at the mo.

MrsDoolittle · 30/03/2004 22:33

Hi dolbear and dot1, we were wondering where you were? Have you all checked out the Sunday Times thread - fascinating!
I have to be honest and say that I am in fact feeling better than I have since last weeks drama. Feels like baby has really settled in. In fact it could be hammering the tacks in to put the pictures up by the feel of things today.
No contractions, no tightening, no cervical pain - nothing. As you pointed out dolbear I wondered if there was something slightly morbid in the fact that we are all waiting for pain.
Have cleaned and tidied everywhere in between phonecalls asking if anything is 'happening' yet.
So have decided to resign myself to the fact that if I am lucky baby will come on Saturday (EDD) or will be late! (Now lucky??? Is that the right word?)

laurakim · 31/03/2004 08:23

Hi there,

I am having a caesar on the 28 April

Its my second baby, no 1 will be 2 in June

Fennel · 31/03/2004 08:33

Hi Laurakim

Was your first baby caesarian too?

Like Mrs D I am feeling ok today and seems my baby has settled back into the womb totally too. no signs of imminent labout at all. which is easier than the false alarms and hopes of last week.
