Hi everyone, 1st baby so NO IDEA what to expect. I've had a few contractions which were 15mins apart then they stopped. No other symptoms. Anyone willing to wait with me?

Still no real progress here, a few painful tightenings each night that are then gone by morning.
Seems like there are a few women popping over on the Dec antenatal thread though.

Girls...I can't believe it's true but I am now the proud mummy of a very handsome and very hairy little monkey man SmileSmile Born at 6.30 this evening and weighing in at 7lb5oz! I'm madly in love and in complete shock!

Mogz · 05/12/2013 04:00

Aww Janie that is such super news, well done you, and hello to your little one Smile

CitygirlbytheC · 05/12/2013 07:45

Janie - how wonderful! Congratulations!

QuietNinjaTardis · 05/12/2013 07:55

Congratulations janie that's fab!
Think things maybe starting to happen for me. Had my bloody show this. Morning and some painful braxton hicks but not sire if I'm in labour yet. So I'm probably not! Will see how it goes.

Alexandra6 · 05/12/2013 09:52

Yay janey huge congrats! Ah enjoy newborn cuddles Smile

ninja hope that your show is followed quickly by labour, sounds positive!

I'm now creeping closer to 42 weeks and my induction date (Monday). Planning long walk today and going to pick up my bouncy ball I've ordered as I want to try everything! Starting to wish I hadn't declined a sweep but I really didn't trust the midwife I saw at my last app, she seemed totally incompetent. Think it's too late for me to try it now as no more appointments until induction (eek)

2Labradors · 05/12/2013 10:18

janie congratulations, well done!

quiet how are things going? Fingers crossed for you.

6 days overdue today, and I've officially never been this pregnant, my other 2 DC had arrived by now

Blondie276 · 05/12/2013 11:03

Janie congrats- fab news!
6 days overdue now and feel like crap today. No energy, boiling hot, and uncomfortable down there so gp app booked in for 12. Just to add to my already miserable state my DH has the flu and is resigned to bed. Great.
Boiler is packed up this morning and I'm beginning to think some one upstairs really is punishing me for something! Grrrrrrrrrr!!!

QuietNinjaTardis · 05/12/2013 11:26

Well had midwife appointment this morning and she said about checking me and if nothing happening she could do a sweep. Well I was 4-5cm already! Contractions have been regular since firs thing this morning but was a bit unsure cos my braxton hicks have been regular. These haven't stopped though. Coming quite quickly so not sure when I need to call the birth centre again?

Alexandra6 · 05/12/2013 11:35

Ooh that's exciting quietninja - am I allowed to be a bit jealous Grin Don't they say the contractions have to be strong and a certain amount of time between each one before being admitted (keep forgetting so I'd need to google!)

Wonder if I'm dilating too without knowing it as have been having these cramps braxton hicks lots for over a week (lots of them quite intense) and feel period pain type feelings. Really hope so!

QuietNinjaTardis · 05/12/2013 11:56

They're coming every 2-3 min and definitely more intense now pain wise. Have just phoned and the midwife has left it up to me whether we go in now or not! Dh just sorting car seat and my mum kindly getting me some lunch so think we will go after that as with ds I dilated from 4-10cm in an hour so don't want to leave it too long. Still not as excruciating as I remember the contractions being with ds but. Guess that will come later Grin at least I'm nearly done as very fed up of being pregnant.

Alexandra6 · 05/12/2013 12:12

Wow it does sound like you're well on the way! Good luck! Wish I could get to that point - only three and a half days to get there on my own before they induce me Shock

QuietNinjaTardis · 05/12/2013 12:13

Thank you! Good luck to you too whether you go in to labour naturally or are induced. Will update when it's al done x

Mogz · 05/12/2013 12:31

Good luck ninja, very jealous that you'll have baby snuggles by the end of the day!
I'm feeling quite sick today but no noticeable contractions, 3 days over now and 4 days until my sweep, seems like forever.

Popscene88 · 05/12/2013 16:49

Congratulations to janie and good luck ninja

I keep getting cramps in the evening/night but then nothing. I'm getting so fed up now. I feel like just giving up and slobbing on the sofa instead of trying anything as it hasn't worked.

QuietNinjaTardis · 06/12/2013 11:39

Well after not dilating at all yesterday and being sent home at 5pm, I went to bed and contracted every half hour until half one and then went rapidly to every 15 min and then every 5 min. Got to birth centre at 3.15 and once checks were done on me and water pool filled I got in and started pushing straight away and after 20 min my baby girl was here. All a bit quick and hurt a bit but screaming like a banshee got me thru it Grin
Fingers crossed for you all that your babies are here soon too. Will be watching thread x

Alexandra6 · 06/12/2013 11:58

Ah lovely news quietninja Grin Glad things kicked off properly and you got to meet your little girl! Now I'm so overdue I keep feeling like it will never happen and then I remember either way I'll be meeting the baby next week, induction or not!

Just more crampy contraction type feelings here this morning. Dtd this morning, had some pineapple and going to try being active today!

Mogz · 06/12/2013 14:05

Yay Ninja well done Smile welcome to the world littleninja!
Alexandra I'm also feeling like this is never going to happen, I'm 40+4 today and sooooo fed up. Far too much pain in my hips to be able to walk anywhere let alone DTD, so I'm stuck with eating curried everything and wishful thinking!

Alexandra6 · 06/12/2013 14:17

Sorry you're in pain mogz, makes it much harder dealing with the overdue thing I bet. Does that mean the baby is quite engaged/far down though if your hips are hurting so much, so labour could be close?? (trying to find a positive!)

We've just got to tell ourselves that every day the chances of going into labour go up. I'm now trying not to get my hopes up as my crampy contraction type feelings are stronger at the moment so I'm wondering if it might actually progress into anything?!

Mogz · 06/12/2013 14:28

Luckily baby is well down, but the pain is also from SPD which I've had for most of the third trimester. It's been a rotten pregnancy and I just want it over with so my body can start to recover.
Will keep my fingers crossed that all your bouncing does the trick!

QuietNinjaTardis · 06/12/2013 15:23

Fingers crossed for both of you that your babies are here soon.

Popscene88 · 06/12/2013 18:00

Fingers crossed for you both.

I'm sorry to come on here and moan but have just been for a second sweep with a different midwife. She claimed that my usual midwife had not been able to perform a sweep and I wasn't dilated. When I and the student midwife that had also been at the appointment explained that she had said she could feel the head and I was 1.5cm dilated she basically shrugged it off and went into a very patronising explanation of how dilation etc worked.

I'm now totally confused and fed up. After my appointment on Tuesday I felt positive, and i've also been having quite regular period-style pains today, so thought that would be the start of something but this woman has now confused me!

Anyone else had similar experiences before?

Mogz · 06/12/2013 18:13

Aww Pop that sounds a bit naff. Hopefully things will step up for you now though and baby will get moving.
I've got my first sweep on Monday, so no prior experience, sorry.
Have you been given a date for induction if things don't happen by themselves?

Blondie276 · 07/12/2013 14:18

Any news from anyone?
HAd mw round to attempt sweep but she couldn't do it as cervix still closed :( not a happy bunny! So looks like not much will be happening until thurs when induction booked in.
Feeling rather emotional today and very teary-'no idea what my hormones are playing at but obviously not concentrating on the right thing!
Hope there are some positive signs out there for you ladies!

Mogz · 07/12/2013 15:06

Absolutely nothing here. I really didn't think I'd get to 6 days late, feeling quite despondent.
