Oh blimey girls you have all scared me now! Had mw today as am 40+2 and have booked sweep for Saturday but now you have all scared he living day lights out of me!
Is it really that bad?????

Mogz · 02/12/2013 17:52

Everyone's different Blondie, there will be plenty of horror stories and plenty of people to tell you it's fine. I've mine booked for Monday next week, I figure I won't know how it is unless I have it done, and I've got a good relationship with my MW and we've talked about the circumstances that will dictate if she does or doesn't go ahead with it.

JanieLovesLuckySocks · 02/12/2013 19:50

i really didn't mean to create sweep fear - sorry. for me, i just wasn't expecting it to be so uncomfortable and was quite shocked. not everyone finds it as awful though. i would just advise maybe taking a paracetamol before hand...and bring a pad as you can start to lose your plug, or in my case bleed. if it comes to it, i hope to god being induced isn't as horrid an experience! and it only lasts about a minute, if that. sorry again, i really didn't mean to panic you xx

Blondie276 · 02/12/2013 20:04

That's ok- I am just so fustrated and in quite a lot of discomfort due to spd in almost willing to try anything and although was aware it was an uncomfortable procedure, wasn't aware it was that bad lol!
Still willing to give it a go though- I've tried all home
Remedies !! Haha. Hope we all get babies soon!!

BlackholesAndRevelations · 02/12/2013 20:53

Fwiw the sweeps I had with dd didn't hurt but also didn't work!

I am suffering from SPD too and think if a violent sweep will help move things along, I'll be first in line! Wink

Monkeyandanimal- we are both bonkers! Grin

Monkeyandanimal · 03/12/2013 06:27

Yeah, i've heard the sweep can be painless, like a smear test; my sister had one last week and said it was fine, easier than a smear.....it didn't work and she was still induced....but i think if you are at the point where you will try anything then go for it and don't worry too much. Just not for me.

Oh look, it's morning again; another day overdue. Goddammit!

everythinghippie29 · 03/12/2013 06:37

Due on Friday with my first but nothing going on yet! Doh!

Desperate to start naturally...and soon! Good luck to all you ladies in waiting! Grin

Alexandra6 · 03/12/2013 07:30

monkey totally sympathise with the "oh no another morning overdue" feeling! I woke up at half 3 and couldn't get back to sleep thinking about it all and wanting it to happen! Have my midwife app now.

JanieLovesLuckySocks · 03/12/2013 08:16

Oh monkey I get the morning doom too...I'm now 10 days overdue and counting...

CitygirlbytheC · 03/12/2013 08:21

I'm 40 + 2 today and having a sweep this afternoon. Bit nervous so taking hubby with me to hold my hand. Also getting sick of 'baby?' texts and trying motto send sarcastic replies!

CitygirlbytheC · 03/12/2013 08:24

Not to*

Popscene88 · 03/12/2013 10:20

Ditto citygirl my DP texts me every few hours "anything?" I typed out a very sarcastic reply yesterday "Oh yes I forgot to tell you, I went into labour and had her a few hours ago" but managed not to send it!

BrianButterfield · 03/12/2013 10:31

I was due yesterday - so uncomfortable now and have really suffered with reflux this pregnancy so I don't even want to eat or drink as I feel attacked by acid every time I do, even with ranitidine and antacids. Have a toddler at home so can't do nothing, though have stuck cbeebies on which I never normally do in the day. Still end up washing, ironing, cooking etc - easy to say not to do it but I can't face it all being piled up after baby comes!

2Labradors · 03/12/2013 10:57

I was due on 29th Nov & still waiting.

This is my 3rd DC, I went past my due date both previous pregnancies and I went into labour after my sweep both times. I have a sweep on Friday and cannot wait Grin I really don't mind it at all, feels strange but not painful.

I've had Braxton hicks every night, they wake me up so I'm exhausted by the morning, and we've tried EVERYTHING to start me off but nothing. If I don't go before, I'm hoping the sweep does it again on Friday.

QuietNinjaTardis · 03/12/2013 14:00

I'm in two minds about having a sweep too. My midwife said she could do one at my next appointment which is thurs. have had some mucousy discharge (sorry tmi) but don't know if its part of my plug or just more discharge. Ds was 3 days early and I do not have the patience for this at all. Im only one day overdue!
I'm also getting texts from friends asking if there's any sign. No there bloody isn't, now bugger off.

Blondie276 · 03/12/2013 16:29

Sorry to be a ray of unhappiness but needed a good moan- I am seriously fed up now and with no sign of anything happening this century I'm bloody miserable today!
I'm tired , emotional, uncomfortable and in bloody pain all the time :( everyday I seem to be getting new aches and pains just to add insult to the inevitable pregnancy grief!
I know that's how we are all feeling so positive vibes to you all I just needed a rant!

Mogz · 03/12/2013 16:41

Aww Blondie rant away if you need to, all this waiting and not knowing and having aches and pains and feeling heavy and tired is very hard.
I'm getting moments of having a very tight bump but no pain further than very mild cramps coupled with feeling like I need to throw up, don't really fancy many more days of this so hopefully it'll kick in properly soon.

Blondie276 · 03/12/2013 16:45

Thanks mogz ! I'm 40+3 now and feel like I'm going to be pregnant forever!
I've had absolutely no signs or twinges at all so not particularly positive! Sure baby will come when she is ready though- as fustrating as that is!!
Cup of hot chocolate to cheer me up I think :)

CitygirlbytheC · 03/12/2013 16:53

Well I had my sweep and it was fine, just uncomfortable. She said I was 1.5cm dilated. She could feel baby's head though she said it needs to get lower down before anything will kick off so I'm going to bounce on my ball as much as I can tonight. Here's hoping!

Popscene88 · 03/12/2013 17:44

Snap citygirl I had mine today, 1.5 cm dilated and could feel the head. It really didn't hurt or was as bad as I thought.

Bouncing away now. Have another sweep booked for Friday if this doesnt work but the mw was fairly confident...lets keep our fingers crossed!

Sending everyone lots of baby waves haha.

Scatt84 · 03/12/2013 17:52

I'm due on Friday and have a sweep booked for that day as baby is measuring massive but I'm in 2 minds weather to have it as with my DD it just left me bleeding and in a lot of pain, didn't work. I also have SPD and a hernia, just want to meet this little person now. Good luck to everyone else.

CitygirlbytheC · 03/12/2013 19:12

Bouncing on my ball for a hour straight has given me a sore pelvis! flops onto sofa

QuietNinjaTardis · 04/12/2013 09:11

I'm with you all on the tired and heavy and aches and pains. Just. Want. Her. Out. Now.

EmB1715 · 04/12/2013 13:25

Due date tomorrow. Urgh SPD has ramped up today. Whinge.

CitygirlbytheC · 04/12/2013 13:32
