Finally got round to phoning docs so have my booking in on 13th oct when I'll be 9 weeks Smile

BlueCrane · 26/09/2011 15:42

Afternoon all...can I join please? I'm 31 and will be 5weeks tomorrow with DC1, had an MMC in May (found at 12w scan) but feeling much more positive this time around! Been feeling soooo tired and full of wind/constipated and now have strange eye twitch going on in my left eye...think it might be the tiredness! Hoping to get a letter this week with appointment for an early scan at 8weeks. Telling parents at the weekend which will be nice Smile DH was determined to wait until 12 weeks before we told anyone last time but I think we're both a bit more relaxed about it this time around!

WidgetWB · 26/09/2011 16:12

Welcome BlueCrane. Congratulations, and although not sure what an MMC is, I hope you are ok now, and it sounds like you are positive which is good. I get twitches in my eye non pregnant, its tiredness! Was thinking everyone on here was working hard - I have had a very non productive day.

ohsol · 26/09/2011 16:35

I have my first appt with the mw today. We went through all the family history, I was given tons of material to read and booked my 12 week scan for early November... still doesn't feel too real though. Might be the lack of symptoms, unsure.

ohsol · 26/09/2011 16:54

I meant that I HAD my first appt today obviously.
Not all with it today :S

BlueCrane · 26/09/2011 16:56

Thanks for the welcome widget MMC= missed miscarriage...ie it all went pear shaped at 5-6 weeks but with no miscarriage symptoms I was unaware anything was wrong until the 12w scan Sad hence I can get a scan at 8w this time to check bean is progressing Smile I've had a reasonably productive day but counting the minutes until I can go home and put my pj's on!!

ohsol I've heard booking appointments can take forever going through everything...didn't have one last time as it was scheduled for the afternoon after the scan and there wasn't much point then unfortunately! Hoping I'll get an earlier appointment this time though! Friends have said that until you actually see something on the scan it is difficult for it to feel real - is this DC1 for you?

ohsol · 26/09/2011 17:12

BlueCrane, First PG for me. And, yes, the appt took 1.5 hrs. I had a blood test and the rest was mainly mw writing the notes.

WidgetWB · 26/09/2011 17:33

so tired and lethargic. Can't cope with wingeing children. EUGHHHHHHH!!!!! And got Pre School AGM which I have to go to tonight!!

Nellabutterfly · 26/09/2011 18:43

Hello! Room for one more? Found out yesterday, due on 27th May and I'm a little... overwhelmed... it doesn't seem real yet! I'm 32 and this is my first... I love that there's places like this on the 'net where I can come and chat to people who are going through similar things - or who've been there and done that!

CODwidow · 26/09/2011 19:03

Agghh!! I keep switching from total calm where I think everythings great to panicking that I'll go for my scan and they'll give us bad news Sad I just feel so symptomless, sometimes I wish we could have windows in our belly Grin

Na7asha · 26/09/2011 20:11

Hey gang
Am worried but probably paranoid.. I just don't feel pg any longer. I have 1 boob bigger than the other and it's painful. Thought I was getting morning sickness but it seems to have gone. I'm 39 and this is my first... am only 6 weeks but am scared. Not heard from the doctors re booking in apt or scan when so many of you seem to have done. Think am going to phone and see what's going on.

Am probably going mad, wish I had obvious physical symptoms so I'd be reassured.

CODwidow · 26/09/2011 20:27

I also don't feel pg at all and this is my 5th but I feel so different this time normally I feel awful by now but this time apart from tiredness I feel normal. If alls fine then great and I'm very grateful but I can't help thinking the worst. I wish could afford to blow £100 on a private scan (but then I'd only worry again til 12 weeks)

Na7asha · 26/09/2011 20:31

£100, I can't afford that. Have just been searching forums and found lots of mums with similar experiences where it has all ended well. It seems no pregnancy is the same, we'll just have to be patient. I've only known a week and it feels like a lifetime. Is an age to get to 12 weeks :(

CODwidow · 26/09/2011 20:35

I'm sure everything's fine, we'll be laughing about this when we reach 12weeks and see our scans and then again at our 20week scan! Grin

Na7asha · 26/09/2011 20:43

Deal - we'll compare notes at 12 weeks :)

CODwidow · 26/09/2011 20:49

Deal Grin

PopEsMummy · 26/09/2011 20:51

I'd forgotten how terrifying early pregnancy can be! And exhausting - not just the pregnancy tiredness, but the over-analysing every twitch, twinge, ache and niggle. Grin Can't wait to get to 12 weeks so I can relax a little bit!

Picked up the pregnancy pack from the surgery today. I had to get it before I go for the booking appointment on wednesday. It looks like there are a few new scans and tests since I had dd (and that was only 20 months ago), wondering if they'll offer all of them everywhere...Hmm I was very pleased to see that there wasn't a pee sample pot in it, no doubt I'll get one on wednesday, and it'll be mine until I give birth (I don't know about everyone else, but here once they've tested the sample they rinse out the pot and give you it back!).

MarKettle · 26/09/2011 21:05

Na7asha, I'll be 6 weeks this week and I also haven't got a booking in appointment. I phoned last week and they told me I'd be booked in at 8-10 weeks but they won't even give me a date until I'm 8 weeks as they don't want to "waste" appointments. How sensitively put Hmm. So I have to wait a fortnight to phone back and arrange it! I haven't got the classic symptoms yet, I'm just tired.

PopEsMummy, they did the pee pot thing at my old surgery! No doubt they'll have the same policy here as they're so keen on not wasting anything

CODwidow · 26/09/2011 21:05

Yep same here, you end up with a manky pot by the end that you don't even want to touch let alone Passover to the midwife! Lol I think I may accidentally forget mine every 6 weeks or so! Funny how you forget those little things id totally forgot how you become an expert at aiming whilst peeing! Wink
I have to pick up my pack this week to fill in before my appt in a couple of weeks so maybe I'll see any new changes they've made in the 3 years since I did it before.

I do remember 9 yrs ago with my first scan, photos were £2, I was shocked with my last ds they'd gone up to £10!!

PopEsMummy · 26/09/2011 21:51

£10!! They don't even cost ink to print them out Angry. I think we're spoiled up here, didn't pay for pics last time (and I don't think they charge now) and hospital parking is free.

My sister had her pot handed back to her full when she was pregnant - they'd just stuck the stick in it and gave it back, yuk!

Dozeyland · 26/09/2011 22:10

I am feeling SO tired! All I want to do is kip! 6 weeks today (I think!) Got
Booking in appt on 17th.

Anyone else having bloating? I think I'm eating high fibre or lots of carbs that are
Filling me up! Peppermint tea is in need I think. :s

For a slim size 8, bloating is so uncomfortable.. More fluids needed?

OP posts:
CODwidow · 26/09/2011 22:21

£10 for 2!! But I've always been lucky and been handed a few more but I think it's awful as they know your going to pay!!

Little9 · 26/09/2011 22:47

dozeyland got my midwife appt on 17th too. So looking forward to the pee pot! Photos are £5 here for one.

BlueCrane · 27/09/2011 07:52

Morning all! 5 weeks today Smile just had my bran flakes and prunes to ahem keep things moving Blush

Think my DH will actually retch at the thought of me keeping a used pee pot for the whole 9 months...guess I better get practising that aim Wink and think of a suitable place to store it between uses!!

dozey I am so so bloated and since I put on a load of weight with my MC (well...half a stone but still enough!!) in the summer I have resorted to mat trousers for work already...sick of the agony I end up in with my trousers digging into my tum by the end of the day and the trapped wind!! Just a bit tricky trying to conceal the silly elastic bits at the side...there's not many girls in my office but those that are there are pretty eagle eyed so will spot super quick!!

I had a letter from the hospital at the weekend which seemed to suggest I'd have a phonecall or letter by tomorrow to give me early scan date or booking app or something, so will wait and see!

Wommer · 27/09/2011 08:58

Yup bloating and wind.... sooooooo much wind!
Am 6 weeks today and have my booking apt next weds.
Had never realised how stressful the first 12 weeks are... This is horrible, every little niggle as someone said earlier can't wait for 9th nov when it will be 12 weeks.
Cant believe what a difference a week makes - this time last week had just found out and was TOTALLY petrified and shocked (in theory we were ttc but this was LITERALLY the first time with no protection - sorry if tmi! - and I'd only just come of the pill so was expecting nothing for at least a couple of months) so was feeling like a rabbit in the headlights to say the least...
Now am loving it and can't wait to get a bump and then baby and worried about everything that could be bad news.... How thongs change lol!
Anyway.... That's a bit of a rambling one.

  • have a good day all!
