Wondering if anyone else is having a baby in Oxford this year (2011)? I am due in the summer and would love to meet other mothers-to-be who live around.

Thanks for that, Crumble , Mr Boots will definitely approve of being sent to the pub!

Natrap · 19/04/2011 21:31

Dear all, hope you won't mind if I join you. I'm due on 5th July (29 weeks today) and am in Osney. Natrap xxx

Jer79 · 20/04/2011 10:38

Hi Natrap, great having you on here too. You and I are pretty close together, less than two weeks apart. Do you know the baby's gender or are you keeping it as a surprise? Hope to meet you at the next Meet-up on May 6th.

Definitely going to check out Jojo Maman Bebe, Toomuch - Oxford is just so bad for maternity clothes - for maternity most things to be honest. I need a nice dress and there's no choice anywhere really.

Loving all this sunshine. I'm 31 weeks and starting to feel like I'm lugging a sack of potatoes. But everytime she moves I don't care about the weight, it just feels so nice.

For anyone who is central or south based, I went for a pregnancy massage at Eau de Vie on Cowley Road last night as a treat - was with a lady called Bella.

V.nice and relaxing; I recommend it :)

jobrien1980 · 23/04/2011 16:49

Hi everyone,
I'm living in Kidlington and am eight to nine weeks along, with a due date of 27 November. Seems so far away...

marthamay · 25/04/2011 19:48

Hey jobrien - It does feel like a long, long time in the future doesn't it! Me too.

Jer79 · 28/04/2011 06:13

Big welcome Jobrien, and really nice having you back Marthamay.

Next Meet-up

Friday May 6th, 10.30am, Summertown Wine Cafe, South Parade, Summertown, North Oxford - There's a ramp for prams and a baby-changing room on the same floor as the cafe and such comfy chairs, so it's pretty baby/pregnancy friendly. See you soon!

Hi All

Just want to confirm if you are all still meeting on Friday. I have my 6 week checkup at 9:20 and hopefully they wont run late but then need to take the bus into Summertown. I shouldnt be too late if I come. Can you just make sure that there is a space for a buggy.

Cant wait to finally meet

BeetleBaby · 04/05/2011 12:47

Hi Eva,

I'll be there with Sam Smile don't worry about being late I think it's fair to say our meeting times are on the 'ish' side!

owlbooty · 04/05/2011 13:00

I'm planning on being there too - am very much looking forward to meeting some of the new arrivals!

We'll commandeer a big corner with plenty of buggy space :)

Jer79 · 04/05/2011 15:47

Hi,

I'll be there too - very excited that we'll get to meet two lovely new babies. See you all soon!

(Details below are just a bump.)

Hi... I know this is a tad precipitous as I am currently waiting on a BFP, but I'm also Oxfordshire based and dying to meet some locals - shall I just check in after Saturday if I get the BFP I'm hoping for?

I am hoping to go into the Wallingford MLW as I've heard such fabulous things about it - just have to pray nowt goes wrong as I don;t much fancy the 25 min twisty turny road trip to JR whilst in labour! I know, I know - getting ahead of myself. See you all on Saturday (maybe).

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 04/05/2011 17:52

That should be Wallingford MWLU, obviously Sorry - can't focus atm

Jer79 · 04/05/2011 18:04

Ooooh, how exciting - I hope very much that you get the nice blue lines you want! Wallingford is really amazing apparently, a virtual spa compared to the big hospitals from what I've heard.

If you come to hang out, come on Friday at 10.30am in Summertown, we'll be the handful in the corner with bibs and bumps and pushchairs.

OP posts:
MakesCakesWhenStressed · 04/05/2011 18:40

lol - I may well do that. I'll see if I can skive off work! :-) Is there a postcode for that place? I'm heavily reliant on my prat nav still (only moved here a few months ago)

CaringForPod · 04/05/2011 18:58

Hello everyone,

Just logging in quickly to let you know that baby Matthew was born at the JR delivery suite on Sunday night (10.29pm). It was the complete opposite of what I had hoped for, birth wise, as my waters broke with meconium in and had to be induced as my contractions weren't starting naturally. Since I was attached to the drip and couldn't move around to try many positions I had an epidural, which I had wanted to avoid. I had hoped to use The Spires and have a water birth, but being induced meant that was out.

However, the midwives that were with me throughout the day (Sam and Ita), were AMAZING. I really can't praise them enough.

I don't think we'll make it Friday - still adjusting to life with a small person and getting into a routine. However, one of these days I will venture out!

Jer79 · 05/05/2011 05:59

CaringForPod CONGRATULATIONS!! Thanks so much for telling us, and also for the details of your birth story - I love hearing in detail like that as it does really help understand what might be ahead for those of us yet to have our babies, and just as comparison for those who have done it. I hope you are feeling well - you sound great, not even tired! We'd absolutely love to meet Matthew when you are ready to come out to play. It's such a good name too.

So, so happy for you. I imagine there will be plenty of newborn stories to share with TMT, Eva, Bubba, Itmar and Beetle when we all get together.

Rest up and good luck with all the newness!

Hope you all enjoy tomorrow.

Unfortunately can't make it again as have a Dr's appointment at the same time. Also not convinced that the Wine Cafe is going to be a very relaxing place to be with my toddler!

Hope to meet you all one day!

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 06/05/2011 07:04

Hey - think I probably won't come today - the tests are being very indecisive and until I know one way or t'other I think I'm going to hang out with my cats and try and get some work done. Hope to meet you all some other time

Hi ladies, enjoy your meet up today!

I just got a BFP this morning!!! But my EDD is actually Jan 15th 2012 - can I still join the list? pretty please?

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 06/05/2011 11:34

Maybe you and me should start a 2012 list ghost?

ghosteditor · 06/05/2011 12:52

That's a great idea cakes but I wonder if we might be a bit lonely to begin with?! Maybe give it a few more weeks Grin good luck with your BFP!

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 06/05/2011 12:58

OK. I'll give it a few more weeks. Tell me, are you getting weird stabby cramps, or am I just trying to symptom-spot period pains into pregnancy signs?

Whereabouts in Oxfordshire are you?

toomuchteaching · 06/05/2011 15:42

Just wanted to say that it was so lovely today, great to meet some new people and see old faces, either uber-bumped or minus bumps and plus gorgeous babies! If it hadn't been for J needing a walk to drop off (and me wanting to go to JJMMBB) I could've stayed all afternoon!

Really looking forward to next one, enjoy the weekend all.
