Well, my worst fears have started to emerge. I had a very small amount of brown blood about the size of 2p pence. I have very mild twinges where it has implanted as this area was tender from my m/c 4/5 months ago. I am sseing the Doc at 9.40 but he is not very good. We have no EPU and I don't have a midwife. This is not the time my P was due either. I am so worried this will happen again. Any advice would be so appreciated. Mears, Leese etc.. are you around ?????

Quackers, just back from holiday and very sorry to hear your news Big hugs to you ((()))

Hi, I'm new here. I has a horrid scare last night after sex, rush of hot bright red blood. It tailed off overnight and my instinct was to lie still and wait, though I spoke to the hospital, who told me to go to A&E if the bleeding got worse. I called the early Pregnancy Assessemnt Unit at 8.30 and they couldn't fit me in until 3pm. After five previous miscarriages, I was prepared for the worst, but to my relief and amazement it looks absolutely fine, great heartbeat, upper end of scale for dates, good position, etc,and was even waving its buds!! They said such a bleed (due to cervical erosion) is not uncommon in early pregnancy, and I am also taking aspirin (for tendency for blood to clot) which apparently predisposes to bleeding. I'm very sorry about the sad story below (Quackers) but, please, don't give up hope. I'm just 44 and had my boys at 35 and 37 (which I didn't think was too elderly then) so now in theory have everything against me, but I feel fit and positive. Please keep fingers crossed for me, or prayers, or good vibes, Many thanks and hope to hear from others, especially old ladies like me!

Brill news - thanks for your words of encouragement - looks like I have my reason though. I seem to be producing too much LH - going to get it tested though to confirm. Bummer. Good luck chuck - be thinking of you 'you old dear'!!!!

Esma, in my first pg, I bled after sex @ week 8. It turned out to be a blessing really as the doc did a swab and diagnosed StrepB. Had this bleeding not occured, my son's birth could have been a big risk. This time I have told dh NO SEX, absolutely none for the first 3 months. Then maybe, or maybe not.

bunny2 · 22/08/2003 18:40

Sorry, typo, Esme.

hewlettsdaughter · 22/08/2003 19:36

Esme1, thanks for sharing this. I'm really glad everything was ok - wish you all the best!

Quackers,

What's LH ? Is that the hormone that's produced during pregnancy ?

I think one of my friends has this problem...if it's the same. She needs to have hormone treatment whilst trying and during pregnancy. Is it the same thing?
She's waiting till after her wedding next year to try again.

If it is, might mention mumsnet to her so that she can dip in and out.

quackers · 23/08/2003 10:23

It shows you're about to ov. I'm told not to panick just yet as hormones are still all pg ones, only 2 wks after m/c. It's fainter today but was SO strong. Persona says don't test until 2 natural periods so, I'll wait and see. Yes tell your friend to come online!

Hi, and thanks for replying to me on this thread - no word from the other where I admitted my age... Quackers, re LH, have you checked some good US medical sites. I did re FSH, which was a bit high for me, and there are ways of lowering the hormone levels. Re bleeds, thanks for advice, what is Strep B, maybe I have it, as I have bled 4/6 times after sex (less when trying not to go too deep). We have now given up sex until it settles down. Seeing doctor for booking in tomorrow so will ask her re Strep. Keep well, all

Esme, there is a thread here on Group B strep. If you read the thred you will see it is something we should all know about but, strangley, it doesnt attract much attention from the Gov or Press. IT is an infection carried by, I believe, up to 30% of women in their vaginal/cervical region. it can be passed to a baby during labour and can cause many complications, some of them fatal. You can be tested by a swab and there is also a test you can have privately for £18 which is meant to be more accurate. I was diasgnosed and had iv antibiotics through labour. My baby son was also given a 5 day course intraveneously as soon as he was born. I didnt like him having antibiotics so young but perhaps it saved his life. Ther thread has much bewtter info than I can give so I will try and do a link to it.

hopeful link here.
