Oh Poppy, that must be so awful having to wait to m/c, I hope it happens soon for you.You sound quite positive though in your post.Take care.

DebInAustria · 09/07/2010 22:24

I'm back on my diet, when I went out this evening in my new dress a woman that I know thought I was pregnant - great eh???I explained no it's just too much chocolate, she went on to say how slim I was in the winter...will be leaving it a while before I go back to eat in her restaurant!!And then I'll have salad

DomesticGoddessInTraining · 09/07/2010 22:36

Sorry to hear you're having to play the waiting game Poppy. It's a horrible stage. Been thinking of you this week and glad you're doing 'ok'.

Have just flicked over to the news. Wtf is Paul (sp?) doing there?!?

Thank you for all of the birthday wishes for B, and happy belated birthday to S and C Goddess and Biscuits. We were away at my mum's last week, I tried to get online, but the connection there was useless.

All quite strange in the North East with the manhunt going on. We usually head into the Northumberland coast when we're there, but not this time. All v shocking to see places I know so well on international news. I have to say, some of the local reporting was dreadful/hilarious. Not a good idea to have the jolly morning radio djs trying to cover a serious story! Imagine Alan Partridge.

Apart from that we had a lovely time, and B enjoyed himself.

There are so many rude/tactless/thoughtless people around. One of my friends is pg atm, and I'd forgotten how being pg seems to make you fair game. My mum was the queen of the rude thoughtless you're fat comment, until I had a stern word with her a little while ago. I can practically see her biting her tongue now, but at least she doesn't say anything (most of the time).

DomesticGoddessInTraining · 10/07/2010 10:50

Our DVD player is about to give up the ghost (officially Not A Good Thing with S in the house) so I was going to replace it with a blu-ray thingy, but have now discovered that we need an HD tv for that (which we were going to buy later in the year anyway), so now plan to persuade DH that it's a good idea to replace them both now.

Don't know much about HD or blu ray really so have started a thread here to hopefully get some ideas of things to look out for to save research time!

Welcome back Bugger, at the Alan Partridge ref. Was the thomas cake a big hit? How did you make the face btw - very impressive!

Domestic thanks for thinking of me and couldn't agree more about gascoigne -WTF?

Deb also think your restaurant owner friend could do with some tact lessons(and I never got why it was ok to comment about someones size when pregnant when
You wouldn't at any other time!!).

Uncomfortably hot here.. Re m/c am ok but I do want it to hurry up- posted elsewhere but got no advice on anyone who has had a m/c that slowEd down then happened(friend said she was told to keep
Active to move things along).

No words of advice re DVD as have oldschool
One here buy I feel your pain at consequences I it is not working.

DebInAustria · 10/07/2010 22:10

Bugger, glad you had a good time in the NE.

Goddess, can't help you re the blu ray or HD, but I hope you get it sorted soon for S's sake (and yours!!)

Poppy - very hot here too but at least in the mountains it is cooler at night.Got badly burnt today though and I don't even sunbathe.

DomesticGoddessInTraining · 11/07/2010 07:56

Am so far failing to persuade DH that we need a new tv and blu ray player, but have had lots of useful info on my thread, so shall keep on at him. Though, we went to a bbq yest and I had too much to drink so I don't know if he's speaking to me at all .

No advice on m/c Poppy. I think mine took about a week to get going properly, then I had one really bad day. The day before it really started I went to a wedding (much to the of our family, but I wanted a distraction) and there was lots of dancing so I guess that could have started things off.

Can you all stop complaining about the hot weather, or at least send some of it to me? It was miserable here yesterday.

How Is head dgt? Weather less baking today sp maybe it's coming your way??

Know what you mean about getting mean about getting on with it when m/c as keep getting comments from
Few who know about it at work- would rather be doing someThing.

DomesticGoddessInTraining · 11/07/2010 09:20

Head is a bit sore. Two cups of tea have helped, may need another one. Am hoping the fact I've got up with S and let DH have a lie in will win me some brownie points

With comments etc from others, I think you just have to do what suits you best. I'm really glad I went to that wedding - I had a great time and for 8 hours or so, I pretty much forgot about what was happening to me.

Just popping in to tell Poppy to go see 'The Hedgehog' if you haven't already. Wonderful, wonderful film!

Not typing anymore as I am in a complete rage due to some of the sanctimonious, judgemental, unbelievable crap spouting poisonous posters on MN. And it wasn't even an AIBU thread. Arrrrgggghhhh. Why do I ever go anywhere other than this thread?

Actually speaking of judgemental crap, Dewin, did your PILs ever take I to the zoo?

DomesticGoddessInTraining · 11/07/2010 13:18

Come on now Penguin, you know we'll all want to go and have a nosy. Where's the link?

Have just taken S to JL to spend his birthday money and typically he slept through! So we just had to pick for him. One gruffalo trunki and some brio bits now heading home in the boot of the car!

OP posts:
DebInAustria · 11/07/2010 13:51

goddess - don't worry there are years and years ahead of you for the trials of shopping with your child spending their birthday money.

DebInAustria · 11/07/2010 13:54

link please penguin

poppy34 · 11/07/2010 13:54

Ohh penguin will.. And am with you on some of shit that gets posted. Also get ignored when genuine requests for help (eg mine on what next re m/c so am bing self Intrrested but I was appalled that there are unanswered threads in miscarriage).

But the judgemental bollocks or repetitive shit (any thread about who to invite to your fucking wedding should be in room 101). And go check out thread on "is my 3 year old horrid "- may have been cleaned up but involved use of c word about another poster !!!).

poppy34 · 11/07/2010 21:06

Shameless hijack- ah get over to tdf thread as going quiet there.

This world cup final is an hour and a half of my life and counting I can't get back..

abdnhiker · 11/07/2010 21:45

Fraser got the gruffalo trunki for his birthday too and loves it...

Have been very bored during world cup and relieved that DH finally gave up and said we could turn it off... I wish I liked football, I love ice hockey and really followed the sport in Canada, but I just can't get interested in football...

off to tdf thread...

ktpie · 12/07/2010 10:24

Back from our week at the ILs, managed to get on OK with MIL when we spent 2 days together, just me and her, was glad when DH and FIL were back though, any longer and we would probably have had a row.
Trying to type this while feeding H so will keep it brief.

PiggyPenguin · 12/07/2010 19:21

its a bit tumble-weedy on here at the moment isn't it?

Shouldn't really be posting as meant to be packing for move - so far today I have baked muffins/cleaned all the bathrooms/mopped all the floors rather than pack. I'm sure the urge will take me sooner or later...

DomesticGoddessInTraining · 12/07/2010 20:10

It is quiet. Surely Eddie must have finished unpacking now!

Lol at doing anything but packing Sybil Nothing like leaving it to the last minute to focus your mind. Which reminds me, I really should start work on my next assignment very soon...

Glad to hear that Fraser liked his trunki too Abdn - S loved sitting on his today.

What's the tdf thread?

DoNotFeedMeBiscuits · 12/07/2010 20:34

back from hols. marking spot as have to now spend the evening making up the next three months on call rota. Fun.

poppy34 · 12/07/2010 21:14

its over on aibu dgit - thanks for bumping my other thread (didnt get chance to ring hospital as dd very shouty today but will tomorrow).

You are right its quiet - maybe its cos they have as little to say as I do. Nice day at home, no developments re m/c so not much to say -back to wine and tdf highlights.

there has been some absolute lunacy on other threasds - at least 2 pullled in last day.

DebInAustria · 12/07/2010 21:45

I'm here but like Poppy says, not much to add. We've had a big thunderstorm here which our guests from Dubai loved, taking photos of each other in the rain!

abdnhiker · 13/07/2010 07:53

tdf is tour de france - for those of us obsessed

not much to add here but thought I should drop in and say I'm around...

neenz · 13/07/2010 09:06

Had a lovely weekend in Manchester with Dh and no kids , had a mum to be package at the spa, not usually my cup of tea but it was heavenly (back massage, leg and foot massage, oils on tummy and a facial). Did a bit of shopping and had a couple of really nice meals (and a few glasses champagne - well it was my birthday). Usually I pine for the kids when I am away from them for more than 24hrs but this time I didn't miss them at all I am quite to say. But they were angels for their grandparents and have been very good since we came back.

Spider, well done for telling your MIL straight that she was being rude. I agree she knew exactly what she was doing but wouldn't have expected you to pull her up on it.

Abdn, have you tried putting the tap on when F is on the potty, or making a 'ssssss' noise to try to 'prompt' him? I read it in a book once!

Poppy, hope things are moving along OK for you. When I had my mc I just drank wine solidly for at least a week - a wedding would have been a great distraction.

ktpie, glad you survived the ILs!

I was Bad Mummy yesterday - T fell into the shed and now has a big graze on his chin, and then E fell down the stairs - because she had wellies on that were too big for her . The shed thing was just an accident but I did feel really silly about letting E wear those wellies. It was a pretty bad fall I think (I wasn't watching her ), she cried out, I heard a bang bang bang, thought 'oh no she's falling down the stairs', she cried out again and then there was more bang bang bang and there she was at the bottom of the stairs . She was out playing in the garden within a few minutes and she doesn't even seem to have a bruise or scratch so all's well that ends well, but I felt terrible thinking what if she'd broken her neck . They are pretty bouncy at this age tho aren't they.

I am at the MW today to be tested for glucose again. I am pretty chilled about it now - having read up on it it seems that even if I 'fail' today and have to go for a GTT it is very unlikely I will fail the GTT. 36wks pg on Friday .
