Spider, how about

DC1 - 2.3
DC2 - 2.3
DC3 - 2wks

Grin Altho I think twins and a newborn is easier in some ways than three under three of different ages.

Eddie hope you get your unplanned third if that's what you want!

Deb hope the sale goes through as planned. It is frustrating that the kids can't start school here in Sept but hopefully they will adapt fine when they do move. I moved at 8yo from Australia, that was mid-year (jan). It was fine, it was hard to adjust but that was just because English schools were so different to Australian ones. I got the piss taken out of me a lot! But it was character building.

Daniel has put on 12oz in the last week, big fatty Smile. It's a bit weird having a baby who piles on the weight cos the DTs were always so slow to gain. Nice though. He is still pretty settled but the tiredness has been catching up with me. need to go to bed earlier but keep staying up to watch BB Blush. He feeds at about 11, 2 and 5 so not so bad and he slept in his moses basket last night cos I felt too exhausted to have him in bed with me. He did pretty well, took 30mins or so to settle after each feed but then slept a couple of hours each time and DH gave me a lie - in which was very nice of him as it is his birthday today so I should have given him a lie-in. Mum babysat the DTs while we went out for lunch, Daniel slept the whole time so it was very very nice Smile.

Still feeling like death - thanks for all the sympathy Wink. Had another day in bed today unable to do anything. Our cleanier has come back from her 6 week school holiday trip to Croatia so the house is spotless today - lovely.

I wonder how dewin got on - hope she did well!

TheBuggerofSuburbia · 25/08/2010 21:15

Hello all, had a busy couple of weeks here, and I had my weekend away, so haven't been able to keep up. Just skim read, and getting this back on my threads. Waaaaaave to everyone!

DebInAustria · 25/08/2010 21:45

AARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bloody cars

that's better...you may remember before we went away car brakes were shot so dh went by train to Salzburg for new parts, friend never turned up when he said to fix them and went on his holiday, so he was back last Saturday, until then we could just drive to the nearest town and that was it, so he spent ages here and we found that the brake pads were the wrong ones. So dh went off on the train today again, for new brake pads, friend came to fix them on ..... they are fine but the brake disc is the wrong size!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!so will have to order new tomorrow, and we wanted to try to palm off sell the car to the buyers who are coming on Saturday. I feel so isolated , being stuck without a car, we could get the bus to the nearest town and then a train out but the bus is soooo expensive. I feel sorry for the boys as well as we can't do anything with them, and poor mil is here too.

sorry in advance if my car sob story kills the thread

SpiderWilliam · 25/08/2010 22:22

Oh dear Deb. What a headache.

It did occur to me this afternoon that Neenz and Amber are/will be in a 3 under 3 situation. So apologies for my insensitivity to you guys. Although, on reflection wasn't Neenz hoping for 3 under 2 at one stage?

Amberc · 26/08/2010 06:45

Spider don't worry I never thought it was insensitive and I'm fairly sure neenz didn't either!

SpiderWilliam · 26/08/2010 07:51

Thanks Amber.

I am feeling v cranky this morning. A bad night's sleep combined with the prospect of the PILs arriving later on today for the weekend. It's a shame actually as I fundamentally like them alot, but over the last year or so MIL has said a number of things that have really pissed me off. I conclude that I must be bad at bearing grudges. I need to get over myself especially as they are driving down from the North East to babysit overnight on Saturday so that we can go to a wedding and have our first ever night away from Peter together.

Right, better go and start cleaning (that's the other thing that is making grumpy. I object to doing all the cleaning for DH's parents when he isn't around to chip in. He has already announced that he will be home late tonight so I am in charge of feeding and entertaining everyone)

I really must get over myself!!

DebInAustria · 26/08/2010 08:08

spider ,I hope you have a lovely time at the wedding Smile

SpiderWilliam · 26/08/2010 08:52

Thanks Deb. I hope that you have a better day. Smile

Amberc · 26/08/2010 09:09

Spider at least you get a nice night away and a lay in - shame you can't have a tear up though! I'm sure you don't have to go too mad cleaning. They'll understand (I hide things in cupboards and find that as long as the carpet is hoovered and the kitchen worksurface shiny then it looks fine!!).

PenguinNZ · 26/08/2010 10:56

Going - Aarrgghh to all the broken things. Hope that your tooth isn?t causing you any actual pain.

Biscuits - Thank you for the tv recommendations, will check out Luther v soon. I did watch a few episodes of the Wire whilst still in the UK, but just couldn?t get into it. Might try again. I seem to recall that it was on pretty late which might have affected my enthusiasm. Jealous of baby ballet, sounds like so much fun!

Dewin - Really interesting point about DH slotting into a routine where he?s not actually needed. Glad the counselling is proving useful.

Rolf - If I started on the West Wing again, I?d guess it was probably for the forth time. Blush

Neenz - Which sling do you use for D?

Deb - IL?s have worked out that we probably won?t stay forever and are already making plans to live with us in the UK for a few months of the year. (We were told of these plans, not asked?.and no it will NOT be happening). DH was also told that we?d become bouncing poms, meaning people that leave NZ and then keep coming back. Luckily my IL?s know everything, so I bow to their superior knowledge. [Grimace]

Think you are being amazingly pragmatic about the house sale, really hope it works out for you!

The car situation sounds really annoying.

Amber - Get well soon!

Eddie - Glad you and DH had a wonderful time.

Spider - I didn?t think lucky woman, but it makes me laugh that Eddie did! Eddie, that really must have been some weekend away. Wink. Neenz/Amber - I thought of you both when Spider mentioned her friend.

Waves to Sybil & Bugger.

Spider - My PILs are ok too, despite my rant above, but I still get irritated at having to clean for/entertain them solo. My unvoiced moan to DH is that ?they?re your parents, not mine?. Blush If MIL says anything insensitive, handle it as well as you did last time, ?did you mean that to sound so rude?? Wink. Enjoy your night off anyway!

DH is currently looking at balance bikes. Those of you that bought them for 2nd b-days, are you finding the LO?s are playing on them? Mad question I know, but does anyone?s toddler have a scooter?

Dewin - Saw your DH?s FB comments, hope that you are enjoying a nice long sleep and wake up feeling great. Hope that the interview went well. Good news that you?ll find out so quickly.

neenz · 26/08/2010 12:01

Spider, no I didn't think it was insensitive at all. Three under 2 would have been total madness! My periods didn't start till almost a year after the DTs were born anyway so that would have been impossible (nature knows what it is doing Smile).

Deb, so sorry your car situation is getting you down. How frustrating to get so many wrong parts. I can undestand your frustration at being stuck in the house.

Penguin, it's the Premaxx babybag like this - I never got the hang of it with the DTs but D loves it. You need to use it quite young I think. The DTs have 3=wheeled scooters but mostly just push them round rather than ride them.

EddieIzzardismyhero · 26/08/2010 12:41

Not always Neenz - think I told you before about the friend of ours who had her third four days before her DTs first birthday? Three under one, now there's a challenge!! Grin

Our balance bike hardly gets touched unfortunately but I think it depends on the child.

spider, have a fab time on Saturday.

DomesticGoddessInTraining · 26/08/2010 13:44

Penguin - S loves his scooter. Unfortunately, he doesn't get anywhere near enough opportunity to play on it. It's not really brilliant round our way, our garden is too small and a trip to a decent park etc is always a car ride away and we've been a bit disorganised busy most weekends since his birthday. It's definitely a good present though. I think we'll get a balance bike next year when he's a wee bit taller.

Is anyone finding buying clothes a nightmare just now. My mean side doesn't to buy 18-24 month clothes anymore (because the weather up here means clothes that I buy to wear going into Autumn will pretty much do till Spring) but age 2-3 clothes are really big. Although S is pretty wee and skinny, he's usually in age appropriate trousers because of his cloth nappies.

DewinDoeth · 26/08/2010 14:07

Hello all,

A quick post and not a very responsive one. Still not out of the woods with illness although feeling much better (really weak, though, in a pathetic Victorian woman kind of way). Am actually getting food down for the first time since Sunday.
Job interview went ok, I thought, but waiting to hear and getting more pessimistic as time goes on. Who knows!

Thanks for all good wishes here and on facebook (and texts too), lovely people! Smile

SpiderWilliam · 26/08/2010 17:04

SpiderWilliam · 26/08/2010 17:09

Thanks for your good wishes for my weekend. I got some sleep which helped, and now PILs are here. Seemingly on best behaviour i.e. FIL commented at the front door on my size, and MIL said we aren't allowed to talk about that, remember I got into trouble last time. Hmm

Rolf · 26/08/2010 17:26

Grin Spider.

They aren't the most tactless, are they? My FiL made a comment about breast reduction surgery when DD2 was a couple of days old.

SpiderWilliam · 26/08/2010 17:55

Rolf Shock @ your FIL

PiggyPenguin · 26/08/2010 20:53

God will it ever stop raining...

The kids and I are really fed up with it now. If my 9 year old says 'but I'm boreeeeeeeeeeed' to me once more I may have to cut my own ears off. God knows how you are managing without a car Debs!

EddieIzzardismyhero · 26/08/2010 20:59

What is is with bloody inlaws and our size??? Shock

My delightful MIL suggested I needed to start watching my weight six DAYS after giving birth to M and when I was still slowly recovering from mastitis Angry.

Did you manage a witty retort? Smile

SpiderWilliam · 26/08/2010 21:46

I let it pass.

However, over dinner MIL put the ice-cream away without offering me any (a genuine mistake). I did let MIL know that after her comments last time ("aren't the MWs worried about how HUGE you are") I got my MW to weigh me and measure the bump in light of MIL's concerns. And I was normal.

Guess what, MIL denied that she had said this to me! Shock Then when I repeated to her what she had said, she backtracked and said that she had thought that I looked big for my dates but then, "she doesn't know how big pregnant women should be."

Apparently I dont look fat, just the bump is big.

EddieIzzardismyhero · 27/08/2010 12:27

Your MIL is a loon Grin!

Amberc · 27/08/2010 13:12

Spider I have met you and unless things have changed a lot since then nobody could ever describe you as fat! Ooh I wonder what on earth she would say about me - enormous bump for dates plus a bit of a chubster!

PiggyPenguin · 27/08/2010 16:33

spider she is obviously a complete loon. Everytime she mentions it comment on how the mw thinks you are perfectly sized. If you keep pulling her up on it she will stop.

I have just fallen in our garden pond Blush I have spent the last month threatening the kids to stay away from it and then I am the first to fall in. I feel a complete idiot - and I am in agony! The older two were pushing each other around to get in the best place to see the frogs hiding under the weeds and I told them off and tried to move them out of the way so they wouldn't push each other in (oh the irony) and in doing so I stood on a slippery rock and then landed with my full weigh on my arse on said rock and with my arm in the pond.

The kids were really shocked and then dd said 'mummy, you fell in the pond!' like I didn't know! My hand is really bruised and my bum is quite frankly throbbing. Still, it may have put them off standing so close to it!
