Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
maygirl · 19/02/2011 23:17

Had a lovely 1st bday thanks New. Another one growing up too fast!

Glad DS was ok, sounds terrifying. I'm always paranoid about putting hot drinks down anywhere at groups.

We had a bit of a gap too between first steps and actual toddling sockmonkey.

DS's first half term this week :)
Missed having him around, though been nice to have time with just DD, like I had with him as a baby.

sockmonkey · 21/02/2011 10:59

She finally did a bit more walking on Saturday. Had a family gathering up north, and she chose then to show off. Maybe she was just waiting to be on yorkshire soil before taking any more steps Wink

Mama5isalive · 22/02/2011 19:13

@ Maygirl- ahhhh happy belated the last one to hit 1!!!
@socks -ahhhh thats great more steps she like to perform thats good!wow injections i forgot that he was due some when he turned 1!Shockbetter make an app fast!
its gone very quiet on here at the moment - hope u all r enjoying your half term. i have just made red velvet cake with my dd16 & ds11 - now all r stalking them they need to cool before i can do frosting and filling!
still have not sorted out the sleeping but the times he wakes up are getting better!

Oh has everyone received the free books form surestart?
i went to hv she never gave me any has it stopped or does it depend on the hv?Confused

sockmonkey · 23/02/2011 08:55

We got some free books when the HV did her first visit. Are we supposed to get more?

I think the surestart books are one of the casualties of budget cuts though.

Half term going pretty well. I have had to ban the xbox as it was causing too many arguements, but I did treat the boys to Despicable Me, which they've watched 3 times since we got it on monday.

Fraochsmum · 24/02/2011 10:47

Hope Jck is healing nicely new, it must have been terrifying :( I also hope you have managed to resolve your work issues. I work for our local council, so would be quite surprised if I'm still in a job after this maternity leave Sad
Well done to your wee one sock - lovely when they perform in front of others Grin
Mama I have had quite a few books from my hv (at weaning visit eg) and lots from Bookbug/Rhymetime. There are a lot available, so maybe just ask hv where you can get hold of some. We have recently had a sort of child-communication campaign on tv in Scotland where they were giving away free books and dvd's - perhaps the Gov in England is doing the same?
Cara is very steady on her walking feet now, but still prefers climbing Wink
Hello to everyone else xxx

CantThinkofFunnyName · 24/02/2011 21:44

Hello everyone - leaving a rubbish post just to mark my place as this keeps disappearing from "Threads I'm On" Angry.

Olivia driving me a bit mad as having huge temper tantrums. Basically as soon as she is told "no" or something is taken off of her like the remote controls - she screams, throws her head back on the floor and goes for ages. Grrrrr.

She is going to be the worst of all 6 kids I can just tell.

Harumph.

OP posts:
sockmonkey · 26/02/2011 08:16

CTFN - it amazes me how someone so small can be so determined about what they want & don't want.
We are seeing the start of stuff like that, not full blown tantrums, but squeeling & screaming.

Newbeginning1 · 26/02/2011 22:42

maygirl - how are you feeling at the end of half term? Still enjoying having both DCs at home again? I can only imagine that the novelty would wear of very quickly but for those of you that are natural mothers I'm sure it's a treat for you Grin

sock - yay for walking!! How is it going now?

fraochs - how is this pg going and how far along are you now? Are you finding out the flavour at all? Sad that you don't feel confident about being able to go back to your job after maternity leave. The cuts at the moment seem really hard hitting and I just really want things to stabilise

mama5isalive - DS has got both sets of books. Our HV gave us the second lot at his 12 month review but I'm sure if you register your LO at the library then you will get them.

Ctofn - how is your household doing as i saw that illness had struck Sad DS is the same as Olivia from the sounds of it. The crocodile tears and paddies are boring me now and are just such a waste of energy. Maybe Olivia is trying to remind you not to have anymore Hmm

How is everyone else doing? How's ali?

Mama5isalive · 26/02/2011 22:57

@ctofn- u have a" tinie tempah" on your hands
@frao/new - thanks stopped off at library today and picked up a bag!
They were so helpful and so def have to start going back with my lo!
Well Isaiah is sick had done loads of dirty nappies then was told by dh for I was out he has thrown up and was being quite clingy! Feeling guilty that I was out while he was sick
I don't understand why he sick now just gone back to work while kids off on hols! Great! Hopefully it won't last long just hope he retains some fluids! Going to allow him in the bed so I can watch him closer!

Hope all is well with lo for everyone else!

Fraochsmum · 27/02/2011 09:24

Aw poor Isaiah :( hope he feels better soon Mama. Lovely to get your books and the library have been so good with you - ours is excellent too and really fawn over Cara.
20 weeks today new! Going fine so far, for a few weeks I have been getting physio because one of my hips is sitting higher than the other. The last time I started getting a bit of SPD so she did accupuncture - the 2 needles between my ankle bone and heel really hurt tho! Get my anomoly scan on Wednesday so am very nervous but excited at the same time. I don't want to know the flavour, but DH really does. Tough!
Are we competing to see who has the most unruly child? No tantrums here yet thankfully, but yesterday Cara swung her leg up and got herself on the sofa, then she went in the hallway and ate a slater!!! It was absolutely disgusting, poor DH was heaving as I picked it out in bits. Quite glad she got her immunisations this week Wink
Take care all xxx

CantThinkofFunnyName · 27/02/2011 12:21

Hi everyone .

I do indeed have a "tinie tempah" Mama!

Also - sickness has been in our household, although thankfully it hasn't hit me. DD1 was so so so ill on Friday but it finished almost 24 hours exactly after it started! Was vomitting every few minutes and a few episodes of diarrhea (oh bloody hell I can't remember how to spell that word)too. She had nothing in her at all. It went on like that til the evening when she managed to sleep for a few hours. Then it started again but with a raging fever. Fever broke at 8am yesterday morning, and miraculously she felt much better!

DH started with it Friday night too but he felt better during the day yesterday.

Olivia has had absolutely horrid stools since Thursday - explosive and like water. She's also been sick a few times. BUT she has cut one of her very back teeth!! Lord knows what's going on.

So back to Olivia. She's into climbing on to everything and of course, for safety sake, I have to say "no" and remove her from various things. She's rather taken with remote controls and grabbing things from the dining room table (which is very high but she manages it by standing on the chair legs on tiptoes)! I take said things from her, she throws herself on the floor and has a real paddy. We have this every 15 mins or so throughout the day Grrrrrrrrr

Right - taking DD1 to the cinema now for a "getting of the sickness" treat!

OP posts:
Mama5isalive · 28/02/2011 21:31

Hi Fraoch - wow time seems to be flying for u wonderful!
@ CTOFN- oh my gosh olivias back teeth already!
wots goin on with this sickness started from sat and is still here! running out of bedsheets liquid coming from both ends - ahhhhhhhhhhhhh
he is due for jabs tomo dont know if he should get them though! all this 2 weeks before we are off on hols hope he recovers well before the trip, the thought of a sick child travelling dont sound like fun!
isaiah is a top climbing artist and can work out ways of climbing on and off the sofa's and the bed also he decided to climb on a chair and pulled it down on top of him now has a cut on the bridge of his nose- ahhhh man this happened while i was at work so not to pleased with DH but it could of been on my watch so can say much!Biscuit

hope all the other bubs are all well xx

sockmonkey · 02/03/2011 12:41

Climbers are a pain eh? DS2 was/is a climber. You need to develop eyes in the back of your head. It's very stressful.
He managed to climb on a chair, tip it forward and bash his mouth, when he was about this age, resulting in a trip to A&E and a top lip that looked like something out of the Simpsons. It didn't heal properly and his lip is still slightly sticky out on one side. He climbed out of his cot into the window, he could also make it out of the cot, and into out room still wearing a growbag. Where there's a will theres a way!

Noop has 7 teeth, 4 at the top, 3 at the bottom. She's obviously not one for symetry. No back teeth yet.

(Fraoch - what's a slater?)

OOh better go... tears over something...

maygirl · 03/03/2011 22:35

DH took half term off New, and we went to relatives for some of the week, so I actually got excessive amounts of me time, including a whole day with the girls at a spa :) Spending half term on my own with the two of them & the wet weather..the novelty would have definately worn off quickly!
Only 2 bottom teeth here! And another climber.

Hope poorly babies on the mend. Think DS coming down with a cough.

Are all the bubs in forward facing car seats now? Struggling with DD, still not quite 9KG but she's tall so reaching the limits of her infant seat.

I'm facing a few weeks of chaos, new kitchen being fitted and supposed to be running a half marathon have hardly trained for Grin Entering seemed like a good idea 6 months ago to boost weight loss and fitness. Weight loss not really happened Blush

Newbeginning1 · 11/03/2011 11:13

sock - I'm glad you asked what a slater was as I just thought I was being dim

Ctofn - sounds like Olivia is a joy at the moment. Jack hasn't quite got to the point of throwing himself on the floor but jelly legs have been mastered. His favourite is to find whatever he's not meant to have (including going in the bin) and play with it. We then go through the whole stop, no business which doesn't work so I take it off him. He then looks for anything else nearby and throws it whilst pretend crying. He knows he's doing wrong so he smiles sweetly as he's doing it. Bloody children and I've only got 1!!

fraochs - wow, times flying. How did your anomaly scan go? Did you know what you were having with your 1st pg or was that one a surprise too?

maygirl - DS is in a forward facing seat and has been for ages purely because he's so big. I might be making this up but aren't there some on the Market that are suitable for under 9kg that you might be able to get? Good luck with the marathon.

Waves to everyone else, I hope you're all ok and the babies have recovered.

Fraochsmum · 13/03/2011 18:01

Oh sorry! A slater is a woodlouse, but slater is what it's called in Scotland - I only found out a few years ago what it's proper name was too Blush
The anomaly scan went well thanks - all well and v good sonographer who took lots of time over everything. We didn't find out the flavour last time either although DH wanted to find out, if there was a practical reason for knowing it would be different. It's quite funny, most people online (inc my new antenatal thread) do find out, but hardly anyone I know in RL knows! I was tempted for a fraction of a second, but I would so let it slip!
maygirl Cara has been in a front-facing seat since about 9 months.
Hope all are well xxx

quickchat · 14/03/2011 20:01

Hi everyone. It me, whenmydayoff/sneakapeak. Name changed again as I sometime take myself right out of MN when I feel im on it too much Blush.
Also I had spelled Peek wrong, lol!

Im so worried about super party. Whay has she suddenly stopped chatting, especially since she should be showing off about her new baby!

Has anyone heard? Is she on Facebook? Im not, as I also spent far too much time on that!

I was confused as to why everyone didn't know what a slater was! I thought everyone called it that. What's even worse is, I had never heard it being called a woodlouse, I thought that was something else!

Fraoch - Evan ate one at Cara's age too! I managed to get it out whole though. They must look like decent foder to a baby. I should just try and feed Olivia with them as she doesn't eat my food Angry.

The house we are building is nearly finished. I will be moving from Edinburgh Sad, to quite far down the East Coast from here. It will be all trees, deer and beaches which will be lovely in the summer but im scared I will miss all I have on my doorstep.

On a posiitve note, house is looking fab, loads more space and Evan will go to a tiny village school next year. Awww, school, can't believe it.

Im absolutely loving Olivia (15 months) at the mo. Just so cute this age (when they are not moaning).

She is getting loads of curls which is making it harder to say 'NO' to her Grin.

Her teeth are weird sock. She got the two bottom ones (as standard) but then she got the fangs (incissors) and looked like a little vampire! Now the middle top are coming in and there is literally no room for the ones inbetween, just the two big top teeth and the fangs??

I hope all the sickness is over in your house ctfn?

Sadly, that is my news, yawn!

Hope everyone is well and let me know how Super is, if anyone knows??

CantThinkofFunnyName · 17/03/2011 10:04

Hello hello.

Quickchat - did I reply to your email? I really can't remember or find any trace so if I didn't totally sorry!!

I didn't know what a slater was either. I think we call them earwigs - or is that something completely different? Confused?

House sounds wonderful Sneak/Quickchat! You'll be just fine and once Evan is at school you will have no excuse NOT to MN all day Grin

OK - on the subject of SuperParty.... I've tried emailing her too - no response. So will join in the being very worried about her. Thought she might have responded to email just to say all was fine - even if she has taken herself of MN for some reason. Hugs sent her way.

Our house has been one great big sickness bug for the past 2 weeks Sad.

New Olivia is truly being a nightmare! Of course she had a really horrid version of the sickness bug and that made her 10 times worse. When she's good, she's just adorable, but when she's bad, she's horrid.

Have her MMR jab booked for Monday Sad. Think I will need Wine!! Grin just seen the new icons!

Right - better go do some work.

OP posts:
quickchat · 17/03/2011 20:06

Hi CTFN,

That is worrying isn't it, so not like her she was a right MN'r and being busy with kids/babies isn't enough to put our Super off!

Hopefully there's just something wrong with her computer.

I put out a few 'WHERE HAS SUPERPARTY GONE' threads elsewhere but nothing so that is the more positive conclusion I have came to.

My Olivia snapped out of her bad tempered mode. It did last for aaaages. I had forgotten she had a nice side! Hopefully your Olivia will do the same once she is all better. It can drag on for what seems months.

CantThinkofFunnyName · 18/03/2011 06:41

I droppped a note on the post natal thread for Jan 2011 and asked if anyone had heard from her. We hadn't been able to contact and just wanted to known mum and baby were ok.

I had a very "helpful" reply of "does she not have 5 DCs? She's probably just really busy."

Harumph.

OP posts:
sockmonkey · 18/03/2011 15:57

Noop has discovered magicstars... i fear there may be no return for her. Little chocoholic in the making.
Hope Super is just busy... I suspect it might be the case.
Sickness still doing the rounds here. It's DS2's turn. He was miffed not to go to school for RND, so he's dressed up at home.

Mama5isalive · 18/03/2011 17:34

hi all limited internet so just a quick one - hi to all the bubs and mummys xxx
we r having a great time on hol - super hot here and the kids r constanly in the pool!!!! skin shrinking fast! wonderful thing being away no cooking and not eating as much due to the hot sun! isaiah is loving it and being spoilt rotten by all over here!1 week down another to go,not doing as much for travelling around with all the kids is a bit long! but shops are close so not stuck at all. gone very quiet on here from my last post its still here! wow we r all busy mums now and time to post is limited i guess!

CantThinkofFunnyName · 18/03/2011 19:21

Mama - I'm curious - how on earth do you manage to go away on holiday so often and where do you go? From a very jealous CTFN.

OP posts:
jesieb · 20/03/2011 14:26

Hiya ladies.

Hope you don't mind if I come and gate crash.

I'm jesie, 27, married to DH for 4.5 yrs. DS was born 16th Jan. DS is our first DC. i'm not working at the mo. took voluntary redundancy in Jan this year, but still haven't found anything new.

We had a rocky start but are experiencing a nice calm(ish) ride at the mo. G is Lactose and gluten intolerant, and has dairy and egg allergies.
There is something else bothering him too which causes a mast flair up of excema, but haven't pin pointed it yet.

G has always been a super sleeper at night, 11-12 good night from 12 weeks. and lately (including last night) we've had a few 14 hour nights - which actually quite crazy. teeth and being poorly do mess things up a bit though.

G has 8 teeth, 4 top, 4 bottom. started walking at 10 months and has about 25 words!

G is a typical boy, loves balls, cars and books. And he is a little cheeky monster.

G's latest achievements are being able to show you his feet, toes, socks, mouth, and hands. he'll beep your nose and with thanks to DH he can point out his Willy!

yesterday I bought a couple of potties. not to start training, just to have them there as in introduction to make them "normal" etc.

I hope you don't mind but it will take me a month to read back on everything LOL so I will just start from here.

sockmonkey · 22/03/2011 11:35

Welcome jessieb. He sounds like a very clever little fella. I'm very jealous of the good sleeping! Wow.
