alibobins · 30/07/2010 21:18

Had a lovely holiday just what we needed Smile

somewhathorrified · 31/07/2010 16:17

Quick post as T's awake and I feel like I'm neglecting him if I sit on internet too long.

Ctofn re gagging, Tobin manages to gag when he has nothing in his mouth, I think it's just a reaction they need to learn. They can go without oxygen for 10secs easy, so let them gag and only panic once you've counted to 10, let them learn to dislodge food themselves and only help if it's really needed.
s anyone here still co-sleeping if so what do you do about putting to baby to bed before you go up? do You just put them in your bed?

anyway got to dash have a good w/e

Newbeginning1 · 31/07/2010 20:12

super - good to hear from you. How are you getting on with your pg? Enjoy your time away.

swh - Jack and I seem to be co sleeping more often which im not happy about. Part of the reason for that is because he goes to sleep ridiculously late at the moment. When he does go off before me i'll creep downstairs and surround him with things to stop him falling out of bed but im normally that tired i fall asleep with him Blush

ali - i'm glad you had a good time. How are your DC's? I'll send you that e-mail now with the details on about the NCT party on Friday

I seem to have caught the lurgy and im feeling very sorry for myself. I hope everyone else is well and enjoying the weekend.

sockmonkey · 02/08/2010 07:55

Good morning lovely ladies!
Ali- glad you've had a good holiday. Can I confess I hate going away? I'm usually ok once I get there, but it's the packing for everyone (including DH Shock) and the mounds of washing once we get back... plus I always seem to forget something vital.

Ok... those of you on the mush... how do you get your DC to open their mouths? I've never had this problem before, but Noop just clamps shut. I've tried giving her food to hold too, but she just waves it about. I feel like some kind of demented dentist "say aaahhh, come on open up, aaahhhh, like that aaahhh" - nothing.
To be honest she's not a chewy child, she doesn't put things in her mouth (but she does like to roll over and lick the carpet)Hmm.
Any suggestions?
New - hope you feel better soon x

somewhathorrified · 02/08/2010 11:06

Thanks NEW, I think I'm jst going to give up and put the cot side on tbh, we've just moved him from the amby into his cot pushed up to the bed, but I'm not happy about him being in it open when I'm not there, If I try and block it with things I'll just get overly paranoid about him suffocating and won't relax.

Sock have you tried giving Noop the sppon with the food on (just keep hold of the end so it doesn't get rammed into the back of the throat) this works when Tobin thinks he's had enough but mummy disagrees. The other possibility is that she's not ready for solids yet, or she's not impressed with what you're offering. Sorry not mch help really

Tobin's threatening to be crawling any minute now ahhh, not baby proof enough yet! although got a babydan playpen thing coming tuesday so Tv and computer should be safe if I use it as a room divider. Not much else to say really...I have no brain, no wit and can think of nothing other than Tobin...wow how boring I must be..hehe

CantThinkofFunnyName · 05/08/2010 07:03

All very quiet here isn't it? I've been super busy all week trying to prepare for going on holiday this weekend. Today now going to be manic as finally finished all the washing and ironing at 10pm last night. This morning have to put everything away, dig out the stuff that I've ironed that still needs to be packed, finish off the packing, go on an emergency dash PSP buying mission for DS. Can you believe Thomas Cook airlines have just announced they are no longer providing entertainment on their flights due to customers preferring their own electronic devices!!! DSS has lost his PSP which was the back up plan to keep them happy on the flight. DH has drunkenly promised to go and buy one for "the house". FFS - it means I'm running around like a maniac all morning.

Ho hum. Olivia doing ok - except woke at 4.45am absolutely screaming. Teething. Teething gels, powders and calpol administered and finally went off about half an hour ago. Now I'm thinking I'd better get on with the day.

Love to all and hope babies are thriving.

Will post in a few weeks!

mama2moo · 06/08/2010 20:36

It is very quiet on here isnt it.

We weaned babymoo on Sunday. She really wasnt sure at first so she has been having carrot which she is getting the hang of! I thought she was going to love it!

She weighs 19lbs and is 69.5cm long - Thats at 6 months exactly!!

I hope you are all doing ok.

sock Babymoo was like this at the start of the week. I now give her puree just before she would have a bottle so that she is defo hungry IYSWIM. She eats loads now and has her milk about half an hour later.

Newbeginning1 · 06/08/2010 23:12

Hi everyone, I hope you're all ok.

ali enjoy your camping trip. I have to say I don't envy this trip away at all as I'm not the back to nature kind Blush

sock I wouldn't worry about food intake at this stage as it's mainly to get them used to it or at least that's what the books say. Are you eating when you offer the food? That's meant to help as the babies mimic you.

swh I know what you mean about crawling. DS is so close to it but then when he goes to move his arms he falls flat on his face but he is doing a very funny bunny hop/ commando soldier move which is getting him around.

can't enjoy your holiday, are you taking all of the kids with you? Make sure you relax please and let the others spoil you for a change.

I did my fundraiser today for the NCT and raised we managed to raise about £480 which for some reason I'm disappointed with, i think it's because I know we could have raised more but some money is better than no money. So, I'm looking forward to some mummy and Jack time to make up for being so busy.

sockmonkey · 07/08/2010 08:11

Hello All.

Sorry I haven't been on in a bit. School holidays and the boys have taken over both the PC and the laptop.
Plus I've been up to visit my sisters for a couple of days. Great fun.

Still trying to persist with the application of mush. Noop still wont open her mouth, infact she will clamp shut. I've tried all different times, but she just does not want it.
(she can't sit up unaided yet... does that mean she's not ready?)
I'm hoping to get a high chair soon-ish. Maybe that will help. I did make my own carrot butternut squash and broccoli mush, which I thought she'd had none of, just smeared around her face, but there were flecks of green in her nappy (TMI?) so she must have had some. Will maybe have a chat with HV next time we go, see what she reccomends.

DMum will need chemo & radiotherapy. They found more cancerous cells. They've said all treatment should be done by January. She will have to avoid the disease carriers children while her immune system is compromised. It will be a long time not to be able to see her, but there is still telephone, and possibly web-cam if we get one (and them too).

sockmonkey · 12/08/2010 08:52

Hello? [listens for echo]

Just wanted to say She opened her mouth!! Woooo!!!! First she licked the spoon like a cat then opened up. Hurrah!!

Newbeginning1 · 13/08/2010 08:53

sock- i'm glad that Noop opened her mouth for you. How did she do the rest of yesterday? How old is she now? I think the guidance around them sitting unaided is if you want to wean early but your HV will tell you for sure.

Sorry to hear that Mum needs further treatment as they found more cells. Are the cells in the same place or have they spread? I know January is a long way off but like you say if you're phoning each other etc at least you will be able to keep in touch.

Is there anyone else out there? Where have all my internet mummy friends gone????

alibobins · 13/08/2010 09:11

Had a busy week Jacob has had all his tests at hospital and did really well apart from went on hungar strike and woulddn't eat or drink but is much better now he's home.
e can now get around by bum shuffling it looks so so funny Grin

Dd had a check up and has got a small tear in her retina which may or may not need surgery.

I'm enjoying the summer off with the children and slightly feeling sick about going back to work 7th Sept but I've got my >> Birthday on the 4th so big big party weekend Grin

Well done noop :)

Hope everyone is okay x x

sockmonkey · 13/08/2010 10:05

It's certainly gone quiet on here hasn't it?

Jacob bum shuffling? Wow he's a clever little fella isn't he! Glad tests are over and hope you get good results for him. Hope your DD's eye is sorted soon. When will they let you know what they are doing??

Turning thirty eh? Hope you have fun. I'm trying to remember what I did for mine... I think we were skint cos the car needed repairs. I think we went to pizza hut (yes we are classy!)

Newbeginning1 · 14/08/2010 09:32

ali sorry I completely forgot that Jacob had his tests. When do you get the results and when will you know about your DD? Sorry I completely forgot to email you back, let me know if you want to meet up somewhere near you before you go back and your big celebrations.

sock how is Noop doing with food?

I had a scary moment last night with Jack. I've been trying to get him to sleep in his cot and to do that I've had to feed him through the bars which is always great fun! Last night I tried to cut out the feeding part because he has a bottle before he goes down and he got so worked up to the point he threw the whole bottle up but because he was on his back he just couldn't clear his throat I dread to think what would have happened if I wasn't there. So last night I took my bed apart whilst jack was crawling around trying to get to me. What great fun.

alibobins · 14/08/2010 09:51

Consultant on holiday so we will get an appointment when he gats back.

Dd goes back to hospital on the 31st so we should know more then.

Sock sorry to hear your Mum needs more treatment but you sound really positive.

I'm going to break the no poo rule Grin Jacob is going around 7 times a day do you think this is okay?

He is now 8 months and I ave to confess that I'm feeling slightly broody Shock

sockmonkey · 14/08/2010 20:24

Ali - I have no idea if that's normal... but you must be whizzing through the nappies... well not you but Jacob Grin

Noop taking no more than a teaspoon at most. I tried her with some fromage frais today as a bit of a change. She seemed to like the taste, but wanted to lick it off her lips rather than let me insert it. She must be needing more than I can get her to take as she's back to waking up for feeding two or three times a night.

New - Do you mean feeding by bottle through the bars? I have visions of squeezing a nork in the gap? Glad you were there for baby Jack, and hope you have better luck on getting him to sleep.

anyone heard from any of the other crew? was wondering how Lottie and Crumpette were doing especially.

somewhathorrified · 15/08/2010 10:01

HI guys

sock T's having 3-5 feeds a night still, AND he has 3 very large meals with pudding twice through the day ASWELL AS 5 boob feeds. They will take what they need to take and I've come to realise that nothing is an indicator of anything, they will do as they do.

Ali if you read the above it won't suprise you to hear that T's having anywhere between 3 and 7 poos a day. I repeat they will do as they do.

Ok so Tobin's now got 6 teeth! well no. 6 is on it's way and I feel as though the poor dude's been teething permanently for the last 3 months, he's such a hero and doesn't moan too much about it. Aslo we have lift off on the crawling, not too fast just yet but he's definitly figured it out.

Gonna run as he's asleep and I actually have a chance to do stuff...yeeppee

sockmonkey · 16/08/2010 08:11

SWH that's a biggie... crawling! Crikey, they soon getthe hang of it too.

Noop likes.... custard, but don't tell anyone Wink

somewhathorrified · 16/08/2010 10:18

Ooh grats on the custard sock. I was thinking about you yesterday and wondered if you'd tried feeding with your fingers, although not with custard obviously..maybe a bit of squished up banana or avocado.

mama2mooandbabymoo · 16/08/2010 15:52

Where is everyone?

Sounds like babies are really starting to move now! Babymoo is so close to moving forward! She has backwards and circled sorted! I put her in a baby walker last week and today she has mastered moving it! She loves it!

Waiting for my new stroller to turn up - Silver Cross Pop - Anyone got one? Im going to put a buggy board on it for dd1! Could be interesting to see if she stays on it!

Im making the most of the nice weather today. Its like winter most of the time isnt it!

Fraochsmum · 19/08/2010 20:25

Hello!
I'm so sorry, it has been so long since I was on here! I very unrealistically thought I would have all the time in the world to internet during maternity leave, but tbh that will be when I go back to work!
I hope you are all doing well and the babies are growing and progressing like you can't believe.
A brief update from me; Cara is now crawling everywhere, the day after 7 months she realised that she could move forward and hasn't looked back since. She now (32 weeks) constantly pulls herself up to a standing position and pretty much scares the heck out of me. This morning I turned round to get her towel and she was standing up holding the side of the bath when I went back round!?
She is loving her solid foods and has also weaned herself off me :( Last month she would only take from one side, then after a couple of weeks decided she didn't fancy either. Not too bothered though - had my first period in about 1 1/2 years and can start trying for #2 now!
I've been made redundant from my main job. Sad because I enjoyed it, but there was an awful lot of travel involved and I have thankfully got a good package, and still another pt job to return to.
On a sour note, have found a lump on my breast. It had been sore for a couple of days so thought I would check. The doctor couldn't really feel it and thought it might be cyst-like, but has refered me to Glasgow. Was quite scared, but feel a bit better after talking to someone who previously had similar.
Hope you are all well and will make a point of coming in regular again xxx
