Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
CantThinkofFunnyName · 20/07/2010 17:19

Hello everyone. Another quick post from me given manic days.

Ali - at our hospital they automatically did scans for all babies born prem or before 40 weeks and also for c-sec babies. Apparently they have a higher chance of hip dysplacia. I would contact the hospital if I were you to see if they can get the hip xray done at the same time.

whensmydayoff · 20/07/2010 20:55

ali 2-3 days. What a nightmare.

At least you will know they will have a good look at him and you will get peace of mind. Id definitely kick off about the x-ray. Why put a baby through an x-ray twice?

Ive decided to terminate myself from MN Sad.

I spend too long on computer and I think it eats away at too much of my day night when I should be doing other things

or translated

Im a lazy cow and MN is another excuse to sit on my bum.

I think If im out of MN the temptation is gone IYSWIM.

Problem is, I want to know how super PG goes and who she has at the end of it. I want to know that crumps is safe and well and away from that evil fckr and how ali gets on with jacob and DD. How socks mum gets on although it's looking good already.
Lots of other lovely girlies I have met on this particular thread too makes it hard but I have to get myself into gear with other stuff.

Hopefully cant, you could drop me a line on my e-mail once in a while to let me know everyone is ok and who supers #6 is!

If I ever get PG again though, I will be straight back on here looking for you all lol! Not that that's a definate anyway.

Im off to terminate my thingy on MN so I won't see any replies.
I hope you are all ok and it's been great (clearly too great) chatting to you all over the last year.

sob, Byeee

alibobins · 20/07/2010 20:57

Newbeginning1 · 20/07/2010 21:17

ali - is that at QMC? How is Jacob doing with his chicken pox?

Cant have you heard from Crumpette?

How is everyone else doing? Nobody else can leave us on this thread. Its getting a bit lonely on here Sad

superparty · 20/07/2010 21:29

Oh no wmdo please don't go................ your funny quips make my day and when I'm feeling down you always make me smile. If you check back later in the year, I will no doubt keep posting photos and of course when the lo turns up loads of pics so hope to 'speak' to you again soon, take care of you and yours, xxxxxxxxxxxxxx sob xxxxxxx

alibobins · 20/07/2010 21:58

Yep all at QMC I'll need a season ticket soon with my lot Grin

Jacob is doing alot better most of the spots are scabs now just a few soggy looking ones.
We are off on a much needed holiday on Monday so at least Jacob will be better.

CantThinkofFunnyName · 21/07/2010 13:01

WMDO - don't know why I'm posting this as you said you wouldn't see replies but Sad. I do understand though, it's time consuming being on MN and v addictive. I'll be sure to drop you emails and let you know what everyone's doing and keep trying to get you back Grin.

Ali so pleased that Jacob's spots have scabbed over in time for holiday. My older 2 both got chicken pox just before we were going to LA and Vegas for my best friend's wedding a few years ago. I can tell you it was v stressful praying that they would scab over in time for the flight!

Super - hope you're faring up OK with the pg. My kids break up tomorrow and I can't wait! No more school run for 6 weeks and just lots of time hanging out with them and nagging them to clean their rooms Grin.

New - I am in touch with Crumpette. She's doing OK. She's studying for some exams that have been moved forward and is now having to cram on top of everything else that has been going on. However, it's giving her other things to think about and she's slowly getting her things in order too, which is great stuff. I should say that her P is back living at the flat, but being ultra nice and she feels absolutely safe. However, she knows it's over but she's just getting everything sorted for that "flit in the dark" so to speak. She's feeling embarrassed that after everyone's support she has let him back in - but as I said to her, only those that have been there know just how difficult it is to deal with - particularly when you haven't got your paperwork (sorry, very practical) in order.

On the news of Crumpette, I have to say I received a parcel from her this morning absolutely full of clothes from her DD who passed away. They are all 6 months onwards and the majority are brand new with labels still on. I kid you not, the clothes are FABULOUS! Have just had lots of fun opening and separating into age groups for the wardrobe Grin.

So very very kind of her. Regardless of others being able to make it, I am definitely going to meet up with her after the 6 weeks holidays. Before then will be just too difficult to drag 3 kids across London - 2 of whom will want to chat for hours and listen to anything we might want to talk about!!

Anyway - on Olivia news. Today she did her first proper sit up from a crawl position. She has been trying for such a long time and now has perfected it . Also - I have to confess that she is definitely crawling now. It's commando for most of the time but the time for stairgates at the top of the stairs is upon me. She managed to get from her cot to outside her bedroom door in super quick time this morning. Is it wrong that I'm a little sad she is mobile so quickly? I just want to freeze her and keep her just as she is. Before I know it, she'll be off to secondary school, complete with attitude and backchat - oooh, let me see, just like DS tomorrow - eek!

Bye for now.

sockmonkey · 22/07/2010 10:06

WMDO - come back!!
CTFN - Crawling???!!! Crikey!
Ali - How's the spots doing?

My Mum is getting out of hospital today - which seems very fast! She's had no pain, everything with op went smoothly. Just waiting for test results now to see what/if further treatment is needed. She really hopes it will just be estrogen (sp?) blockers and not radio therapy. She's been going to the hair dressers every week for years. loosing her hair would be more upsettting than anything else.

Noop had a tantrum! I gave her a wooden spoon to hold while I did some baking, Daddy took it off her because "it's not a proper toy" and she screamed. I gave it back - instant quiet. Oh boy, she's not quite 6m yet and already has us trained.

Any other babies getting up in night more than usual? We've gone from sleeping through, to getting up 3 times a night again. Heat? Needing weaning now? I feel like a zombie.

Newbeginning1 · 22/07/2010 23:09

ali that's good news about Jacob. I'm Envy that you're going on holiday.

sock it sounds like your mum is making good progress. How long will it take before you have the results so they can decide on next treatment plans? I hope you're holding up ok x

can't did you have a good evening and what was the surprise?? I would really like to meet up with you and crumpette if I can get down to you guys. It's good to hear she is doing well and still going with her studies. Even though her P is back living there at least she knows that she's strong enough to make that break because she's done it before. I'm just relieved that her P is being sensible and being nice rather than goin the other way and being over controlling.

So my XP was meant to see DS today but made up some rubbish excuse about not having the car when if he was that bothered he would have got a bus over. I've laid it on the line and said I'm not having him messing DS about and that I'm cutting the Thursday visit completely and once he's back off his holiday he needs to discuss with me a plan for him to have regular access. I've said that whilst he's being unreliable I will limit the access he has to DS and then once he's shown he can stick to days and times etc I will increase it. Does that sound fair?

I hope everyone else is ok

Mama2b5 · 23/07/2010 13:17

CantThinkofFunnyName · 23/07/2010 13:59

Oh I am having such a bad day Sad.

Last night was absolutely fantastic. Gathered 30 kids in school hall. Had lots of photos taken, I split them into groups of 5 to 1 adult. Told them it was only for safety when in transport and when going to London on tube. Walked out of school towards tube.... and then they were met by 2 18 seater hummer limos. They went absolutely WILD!

Got in Limos, they mostly screamed all the way "CTFN CTFN CTFN is the BEST" Grin. Got to Planet Hollywood, had meal, got back in Limos, went to London Eye, had flight. Got back in Limos, came home. On way back, limo overheated and broke down Grin Grin - I drank a bottle of wine on my own!! Cue this morning....

Urgh. Alarm didn't go off. Had a friend's child to look after from 8am. Jumped in showed at 7:55 - head v v spinny. Came rushing downstairs, drank oodles of coffee, child arrived. Head still all over the place. Felt sick, had headache. Didn't really know where I was or what was going on Blush. Couldn't find mobile. Sick feeling even more in stomach. Know I had it at 11pm, but think I must have left in limo or dropped it on way home. Limo company say they can't find it. Cannot get another one quickly. Have no back up of all my numbers.

Computer only just working after hours of messing around this morning. Uploaded all DSs photos from last night - and computer crashed and lost them - AFTER I deleted them from his camera. FFS.

I am having SUCH a bad day.

Olivia crawling like a demon, keeps chuckling at her latest trick of crawling and then moving into sit. And has demolished a bowl of finger food of toast with marmite, toast with houmous and pieces of banana. My cleaner was not impressed however, with chunks of food left on the floor. Well, she will come at lunchtime!!!

Going off to mope.

mama2b5. Sorry you are feeling emotional.
I love how healthcare folk tell you to make the children eat more...erm how exactly? When they won't eat they won't eat. As long as you are happy and he is healthy and happy and active, that's all that matters.

CTFN - uh-oh. Does sound like a very bad day. Hopefully the karma fairy will work in your favour tomorrow and someone will brighten your day.

All these crawling babies! Noop can't even sit up unaided yet, and has only rolled over the once. She is one of the youngest though.

Mama2b5 · 23/07/2010 20:29

Ahhhhh such a wonderful nite you made the kids very happy CTOFN its a shame it peaked and then bombed for you with AWOL phone and photos gone! booooooo technology fails sometimes! hopefully others took pictures that can be shared!
Socks - babies develop at different stages i mean still BF for he refuses to take bottle i have visions of a 5 year old climbing on my lap demanded breast then helping himself
Very proud mum went to my DS leaving party and he got award for most improved pupil so i was super proud, my boy who we have only had for 2 years has just bloosomed and is such a lovely boy, who will face big school in september!( gulp)Shock its a shame his mother didnt make contact but she is like that and wont make contact until after christmas with constant fake promises and endless hard luck stories!!!!!!
CTOFN- hope things improve for you and you find phone hopefully a child picked it up last nite!
broody hat on - went to see our friends new baby and shes sooooo cute, shes called Angel! ahhhhhhhhhhhh

CantThinkofFunnyName · 24/07/2010 11:29

Well my phone was found. In the gutter and the limo ran over it! so even though I have my sim card back, it has no numbers on it and is next to useless! I must have saved all my numbers to phone rather than sim. Doh.

Got the photos back from some godforsaken place on computer.

And... I've been doing a bit of a crash diet for 2 weeks. Lost half a stone come Thursday morning. Weighed myself this morning have NOT done the diet yesterday and Thursday night. Guess what - 5lb put back on!!!!! FFS. Ridiculous.

OP posts:
sockmonkey · 24/07/2010 12:40

Oh CTFN Sad
At least you got the photos [looking for bright side emoticon]
Could you claim for phone on house insurance? Do you have accidental damage cover? I suppose it depends what kind of phone it was, and if it's worth the paying the excess. At least it wasn't stolen and no one is running up bills calling outer mongolia.
We are off to a birthday party this afternoon for a little friend who is turning three. Noop was up 3 times last night, boys up at 6.30, DH had a massive go about the state of the house and "what do I do all day?" after not getting up till 10am and leaving to have breakfast and watch a film with his workmate. (after I'd ironed his clothes for him of course) Angry Not in the mood.

sockmonkey · 24/07/2010 12:42

Oh and congrats to mama's DS. Bet you had "moist eyes" at the presentation.

Newbeginning1 · 25/07/2010 20:41

ali enjoy your holiday Smile

can't sorry about your phone but it sounds like everyone had a great time. How is Percy doing after his vet trip?

sock did you give your DH a swift slap with that comment?? I hope so. How is your mum doing?

mama2b5 very cute about the award, you must be a very proud mummy.

Well, not a lot to say from my end. We went to a christening today which was good and Jack can stand up now for about 5 seconds by himself and steady himself but he's just not interested in crawling.

What has everyone got planned for this week?

Mama2b5 · 26/07/2010 18:14

Oh yes Socks i was crying and am still so very proud of him!and yes New - very proud indeed!
CTOFN- ahhhhh man dont you just hate that all numbers on the phone ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Well its finally here yes the dreaded auntie has turned up im happy she stayed away for so long i hope i dont get the pain or wont be a happy mummy!Shock well weather has made a bit of a dip so no plans here for now! big house clean out while all kids r home! charity bags full and ready to be dropped off to the many charity shops and clothes drop off bins! for recycling and for sells! have had to order a playpen to contain isaiah he just moves way to much to be on the floor and strapped in the buggy looking sad! so hopefully it will arrive soon and i will have a happy playing safe baby!Smile

mama2moo · 27/07/2010 21:05

Hi all, sorry I have been crap again with this.

Wow, loads of crawlers! Babymoo is itching to get going but hasnt got it yet!

So, she is 6 months on Monday and after a rubbish attempt at weaning 2 weeks ago I think I will try BLW. Any tips on a good first taste? I was thinking carrot - Is it best roasted or steamed?

I hope you are all well. I will catch up v.soon Smile

CantThinkofFunnyName · 28/07/2010 08:07

On the subject of blw, Olivia has had most things now by way of purée and mash. A few days ago I tried her with toast and marmots. Also cucumber and houmous. She has gagged on every bit of finger food I have given her but loves picking up things and feeding herself. Another downside is that she is not getting anywhere near the amount of food she has as mash. I am going to try stopping the deeamfeed in a couple of weeks but am loving the summer holS so far as she sleeps until around 8.30. So any advice on this finger food lark? I am thinking that maybe she is not quite ready yet and it will come in the end. She is 7 months this week and on all foura proper crawling as of yesterday!

OP posts:
sockmonkey · 28/07/2010 08:38

Wow can't believe we have crawlers and standers!!

Gave Noop her first bit of baby rice. Day 1 was too thick... she was unimpressed
Day 2 thinner, ate a bit more, but still did not look happy about it. Was a lot happier waving the spoon around when I was done.
Got her weighed yesterday. 14lb 7.5 oz
Over a stone of bub!

CTFN - have you tried her with potatoe cakes? They are a bit like pancakes, DSs used to like them (I'm sure most supermarkets sell them)They also used to like chunks of sweet potatoe I'd cooked in the george formby forman grill.
I really need to get out the weaning guides, I really can't remember what you are allowed to give and when.

On Mum news, she's had her drain taken out (which she is very happy about) but it will still be another week or so before she will get to find out if she needs any more treatment.

CantThinkofFunnyName · 28/07/2010 13:47

I just read my post back from earlier. Attempted to post via my new iPhone (oooh, get me) and was full of typos!!

Sock - as for finger food, she'll try anything, it's not a case of not liking anything, but she puts the whole lot in her mouth and gags and I am on the edge of my seat the whole time. I find it soooo stressful.

I also have to confess to something with Olivia - and I feel so so so so awful Sad.

On Saturday, I got her some food out of the microwave (had defrosted by microwave and then heated through). Put it on highchair table whilst I picked her up, placed her in highchair and started strapping her in. Her hands flung out to the food, caught the spoon and food flew through the air and hit her in the face, just below her eye. The food was hot - and I mean scolding, not that I realised at the time - but I hadn't stirred it after coming out of microwave as it was going to sit for a bit first. She screamed instantly. Wiped food off and oh my lord, it completely burned her face. Applied lot of cold wet tissues but not at lot else we could do.

I mean it's really really burned. It looked all wet and red. Blistered overnight and then she must have caught the blister and it came off on Monday. Now in the process of blistering up again. It's really big and from a distant looks like a huge strawberry mark.

I just can't believe I did something so stupid. She looked so perfect before and now there's this horrid mark on her and it's all my fault. Bawled like a baby Saturday when it happened. I felt so terrible Sad.

So moral of the story is - learn from my mistake. Don't place hot food near your baby!!

OP posts:
Newbeginning1 · 28/07/2010 21:50

sock that's good news about your Mum and that she must be more comfortable now. How are you holding up with it all?

mama2b5 how is it going with the dreaded Aunty!

mama2moo I haven't done BLW but my sister did so in other words feel free to ignore my advice!! If you steam the carrots then they still need to be hard enough so that they don't just break if that makes sense? Maybe roasting would be a better option to start with.

can't I was thinking that I would go down the BLW route with DS as he's so independent with everything else but not with his feeding and it seems to frustrate him but as with Olivia he wouldn't get enough in his mouth. I know they say food is for experimenting until they are a year bla bla bla but I don't want him to go hungry. Maybe you should do finger foods for snacks and as extra bits on top of meals and gradually start giving the fiver food first then offer mash or purees after if that makes sense?

How is Olivia doing now? I understand your guilt but to be fair even if you're 100% on it then they still manage to find a way to cause mischief! My sister knocked my nieces head on the doorway when she was a baby and I fell down some concrete stairs with my niece I can say though my niece is absolutely fine and not at all damaged!!

Also, I feel your pain with the iPhone typing so apologies for the numerous typos on here! You should get the whatsapp app and we can have Mummy chats x

sockmonkey · 29/07/2010 08:44

ctfn I know you must feel guilty, but it was an accident. I will keep hot food away from baby though, thank you for the reminder. Hope she is soon recovered.
Lessons I have learned:

Always put the brake on the buggy when you stop (after DS1 rolled into main road traffic when I stopped to pick up my purse which had fallen out my pocket)
Babys head sticks out further than your elbow when you walk through a door way.
Dont let DC climb up on a chair which has lots of coats hanging off the back, it will tip over and your ds2child will smash their mouth end end up looking like a Simpsons character with a massive lip, which is still slightly mis-shapen 4 years later.
Always keep your door locked and take the keys out (after 18m old DS2 child got out of bed, made it past us without us knowing, opened door and went wandering the streets in his babygrow at 9pm - luckily some guy from up the street spotted him and figured as our door was wide open he must be ours) That one still makes my blood run cold to think about.

Mama2b5 · 29/07/2010 10:52

Hi all- mummies out there- WE R DOIN GOOD!
CTOFN- olivia will make a total and full recovery so learn from your mistake which we all make and just say never again!!!!!!!!
also look after your iphone maybe after use put it in your bra for extra protection from gutters and cars!!!!!
New- ahhhhh i hate my aunty P just go away now!
Socks - wonderful news about your mum it will all be well for her!
mama - i am also doin BLW and at the moment he is liking ella kitchen -sweet potatoe, pumpkin, apples and blueberries- starnge combo but he luvs it and also apple pear dessert i guess its sweet! and also bread he luvs it! and can eat half a slice why????????

so the playpen is here and at the moment he is liking it and falls asleep in there too!
have plans to take kids to see toystory oh boy this should be fun! aint gone cinema for ages and also with a baby in tow this could prove a huge mistake but will see! check in later have a good day!
