Ooh ButterpieBride's wedding today! I'm getting quite excited. It's a lovely sunny morning here in Gateshead, so long may it last. The wedding is around the corner - woo hoo, we can even walk home!

Pav and Long I have been putting off sorting out the night feeds still. I feel like I need some energy to do it. Last night was better as he only had 2 feeds, except one of them lasted an hour and ten mins! Still a lot better though as he'd fed 6 times the night before.

How was camping Long? Did M enjoy it?

Ninja Sorry to hear about your interview. It's horrible when that happens. DH had an interview like that about 6 weeks ago and hasn't applied for any jobs since (out of fear I think), but I think it's easier if you try and get back in the saddle. Obviously, that's easy for me to say!

MsYikes H sounds like DD was at that age, except I hadn't had the mega-feeder before, so I felt like that was normal, not that she wasn't interested in milk. Maybe it's a boy/girl thing. Or a Scorpio one {wink]

SirB I've been away so haven't read this for a while, but just wondered if you managed to get your benefits sorted?

Autumn: there's nothing like a chill in the air, blue skies and new stationery, is there? I still get that back-to-school excitement. Smile Oh and Tamlin if you are fed up of summer where you are, wait until autumn sets in - it's just beautiful.

Ninjacat · 28/08/2010 13:58

Alfie has decided that afternoon naps are for wimps and is currently shouting from his cot. This is the second time he has fallen asleep on me and woken the moment I put him down.
30mins peace in the afternoon is not too much to expect from a small one is it?

Butterpie have a lovely day, glad the sun is shining

Laugs have a lovely time and tell all. I'm very jealous. I loooove weddings Smile

msyikes · 28/08/2010 22:21

Scarlotti nine month rpoblems explained! That makes a lot of sense.

Laugs looking forward to the wedding report!

ButterpieBride · 29/08/2010 13:47

:D

I'm all married and that!

IT WAS ACE. I have loads of sorting out to do, but had to pop on and tell everyone that all went well :)

Pictures will be on fb and the wedding website over the next few days.

longwayaway · 29/08/2010 16:37

Honestly, how am I supposed to get distracted from my work if no one posts for hours at a stretch?? Trust you have all been out having a lovely bank holiday.
Butterpie I couldn't use the link for some reason but glad you had a great day.
Laugs, I think it's always a Scorpio thing with H!!

ButterpieBride · 30/08/2010 23:53

Try again

skorpion · 31/08/2010 10:37

Butterpie Congrats!!! Glad it went so well.

Scarlotti Thank you! I was just starting to wonder what the hell is going on here... Went cold turkey with night feed about ten days ago, lasted fine for a week and then last two nights a nightmare. She seems very tired but also in feather-light sleep and wakes and cries very often, ended up in bed with us from midnight to morning on both nights. I've gone back to feeding her as this seems to be the only thing that works. This too shall pass....

Ninja sorry to hear about the interview. Chin up, it will happen :)

Msyikes hope going back to work is OK for you.

We went to a wedding on Sat and it was the very first night I had without Lucy. It was fab actually, much better than I thought. The only times I missed her were when there were other babies around. It was so nice to just enjoy ourselves with our mates.

MsInterpret · 31/08/2010 11:58

Hi everyone, lovely to catch up on all your news.

We're just back from a ten day South Wales family reunion-North Wales wedding-more reunion-Cornwall 30th birthday camping extravaganza! Was fab, although verrrrry glad to be back in my cosy bed last night.

Congrats butterbride! Off to have a nosy at your photos now...

Sorry to hear of all the sleep regression. R has been sleeping with us in the tent and feeding ALL night, having previously given up the night feed. She had one last night at home too but I'm making allowances for mega-tiredness.

Wondering what are your LOs bedrooms like? Poor Roo has been in the corner of our open plan upstairs landing til now Blush but while we were away she got her very own wall built! So now I want to decorate. It is small but with a window which brings in lovely morning sunshine (less lovely at 5am, grrr...) and has two recesses around what used to be the chimney. Was thinking some funky patterned wallpaper for these and some nice lighting for the rest. Oh and some clothes storage is extremely necessary - her chest of drawers is constantly spewing out everything! Any inspiration

R's first settling in at nursery today so better go and do lunch then get ready for that....erk. Think I might cry Sad

scarlotti · 31/08/2010 18:45

Hi all

skorpion glad you enjoyed your wedding and babe-free time
msinterpret glad you had a good time. R's new room sounds very cute! A good option for decorating is the stick-arounds you can get. They basically stick on the wall but in a way that you can take them off again at a later date. Handy for changing baby preferences as it will save you redecorating as they grow out of something! Hope the nursery went well.

Well, I had the night from hell last night. Ioan has never been so distressed Sad He is/was teething and also has a viral respitory infection so is very wheezy. He woke almost hourly throughout the night and was screaming in pain. Went to the doc this morning but they can't give him anything. Thankfully he seems to be on the mend now, although who knows what tonight will bring. I've spent the last two nights sleeping sitting up so that he could breathe!! Haven't had to do that for months!!

OP posts:
longwayaway · 31/08/2010 19:07

scarlott Ugh - so sorry to hear about Ioan's illness. Those are the worst nights, by far.

skorpion Same thing happened to us after going cold turkey - had a lovely few nights where she slept through but now she's waking again. I still don't feed her - she'll go back to sleep after a cuddle, which is sort of nice in its own way, but I'd really like to sleep :( I notice that infant paracetamol helps, so I guess teething is our issue here.

MsInterpret How did the nursery go? Our new flat has a nice small 2nd bedroom for M, it's been so nice to put all of her things in one place. DH bought her a big fish kite from Chinatown, so that's up on one wall. My grandma gave us an embroidered baby quilt that I hung on another wall. Some world-traveling friends brought us some things from Bangladesh to hang over the crib. My mum made really cute crib bumpers (I guess they're out of fashion but I like them), and we have windchimes over the changing table to distract her during changes. I hung some of her fancy dresses up on the wall on hangers, as decoration - possible storage solution? :)

Must work on my resume - found an really really interesting job posting last night, a rare opportunity for someone with my training to work in the movie industry. Could be fun!

Fruitpastels · 31/08/2010 20:19

Butterpie You look beautiful Smile Congratulations.

Can't catch up with you all. Hope everyone is well and the sleepless babies are letting you sleep (mine isn't Sad ). Apart from the normal sleep problems, we've also had a bad couple of nights with C. He has a cold and was waking hourly last night. scarlotti, I feel your pain. I'm so tired today. But, no rest for me. Have been busy preparing for my return back to work tomorrow. Childproofing my house for a energetic 15 month old, but it needs to be done for C, when he decides to give being mobile a try! I will have 4 kids in the house, inc 2 of my own. No pre-school, no school and no groups! It will be a hectic 3 days ahead.

I wil try and catch with you all Smile

msyikes · 31/08/2010 22:35

Goodbye maternity leave!!
Longwayaway that sounds like a FANTASTIC opportunity- good luck. Windchimes really nice idea for a bedroom, wish we had some to distract H! MissI we have some bunting, a lot of photos of relatives ina kind of wire heart frame thing on the wall, a v sweet liberty fabric bird thing that hangs, a butterfly mobile, heart mobile, white furniture, red and pale blue gingham and polka dot and floral stuff. An alphabet poster I drew. H spends all her bedroom time asleep or screaming so the decore obviously works for her Hmm
Agree lovely wedding pics butterpie hope the honeymoon feeling is still with you!

msyikes · 31/08/2010 22:37

missI you will undoubtedly cry more re nursery than she will!

scarlotti · 01/09/2010 19:04

Gosh, I really must find something nice to put in Ioan's room ... he has magnolia walls with nothing on them. The only interesting thing is a valux blind that has stars on it! Blush

Fruit how did today go? Is C any better? Hope you're feeling more energetic too, nothing worse than feeling bone tired and having to work.

Ioan is on the mend luckily, went back to the childminder today and was ok, if a little clingy. He's eaten again today though and seems more like his old self.
He's reached such a lovely stage developmental wise now. He's very loving and actively seeks me out to give me cuddles and kisses. When I pick him up from the childminder, he wraps his arms around my neck and kisses my face Grin Such a lovely feeling and makes all the sleepless nights worthwhile!! He's really quite speedy on his bottom now too - so funny!

JuicyLips · 01/09/2010 22:10

Scarlotti you are right about how lovely this stage is. Annabelle is soo cuddly and kissy. Tho not sleeping as well as she has been at the mo.

Butterpie love all the pics! Gorgeous. Hope it was fab.

MsInterpret · 01/09/2010 23:06

Just a quick post to say thanks for the baby room ideas, keep em coming. Esp like the bunting idea msyikes. Oh and nursery went fine today, she played outside and was chirpy throughout and even took a bottle no probs. Cried when she saw me arriving to pick her up tho! Hmm Long visit with a meal on Friday, hopefully will go just as well Smile

Exciting job news helips, keep us posted.

Fruitpastels · 02/09/2010 07:57

Just popping in. I think we need a new thread. My head is bursting with a head cold. So not much good for anything. C is better, but very green nose, so DH is taking him to the GP this morning. Both DH and I are ill. C woke at 4am full of beans, but I think the congestion disturbed him. DH took him downstairs for an hour and came back to bed with him at 5am. DH is now off on his redundancy, has garden leave this month. I am so pleased to have him home this week. DS1 is fine atm. Topping him up with lots of vitamin c. We have his new teacher visiting this morning. I'm off work for a few hours and then back to a mad house after lunch. Frist day back was fine. I can't wait for the weekend to put my feet up though. I will try and catch up with you all at the weekend.

ursigurke · 02/09/2010 11:25

Hi ladies, sorry for being quiet lately. Paula had a cold (not too bad though, I was mainly bothered by her bad mood) and we had friends with a baby over for a weekend.
Actually it's just to say that I'm off for another holiday. We are going to the Lake District, maybe one week, maybe two weeks.

Congratulations on butterpieWIFE Wink and scarlottidaughter and anyone else with good news about nursery, job,....
And for those not feeling so great because of sleep problems, colds,... hope things will get better soon.

helips · 03/09/2010 02:47

Hi all, sorry not posted for a while, been busy busy busy! Millie is still teething and not sleeping well either. She still ends up in bed with me and dh and comfort feeds, I am too tired to try and change things. Once this next tooth comes through hopefully she will sleep better and I can work on keeping her in her own room!

Ds started his new nursery this week and he loves it. He runs in without a backwards glance, this morning I had to ask for a kiss goodbye! I have made a few new friends over here too, one girl I met on an expat forum and met up with yesterday, she is really ice and her ds is the same age as mine and goes to the same nursery. I also met a nice Australian lady at the playground and we have swapped numbers and plan to meet up in the next week or so.

Congrats butterpie on your wedding! I have checked out your photo's and you looked absolutely beautiful, what a lovely day you had!

Scarlotti well done to your brainy dd! You must be so proud! Hope Ioan is feeling better now.

Hello to everyone else, see you on the next thread soon!
