Im baaaaack!

Devon was lovely. Very warm, the kids loved the seaside.

Elizabeth didnt enjoy the travel cot though and every night was horrible! Constantly plugging her dummy and even went back to night feeds.

Have started weaning, even though I swore I was going to wait but she loves it, she seems half ready if you get me... She reaches out and grabs the spoon and puts it in her mouth and she doesnt push the food out of her mouth either. The only thing she doesnt do is sit up on her own very well, but she's almost there.

I found that table that I think GS was talking about here towards the bottom of the page it tells you what to wear under grobag depending on temperature. Lee I think it wasn't too much - 24 degrees says vest under 1 tog which is what we did here too. I think I might buy a 0.5 tog one as well for even warmer nights as we neede a second one anyway.

ABF - glad you had a lovely holiday sorry to hear about the travel cot. What foods have you tried so far, it certainly sounds like shes loving it!

GoldenSnitch · 22/05/2010 20:27

Ours only goes up to 23 degrees. Maybe because it's a Mothercare one?? Might print that chart out to use.

Catherine hates being hot which is probably why she prefers being without her grobag now. Portugal is going to be a nightmare!!

sparklycheerymummy · 22/05/2010 21:00

GoldenSnitch · 22/05/2010 22:42

Very cute. If you add it to the group pics, we'll be able to see a bigger version.

Keep meaning to add new ones of Catherine. She's so much bigger now.

Pics of Imogen would be lovely hendo

hendo77 · 22/05/2010 22:44

I've just put one up finally! They are growing so fast - I was just looking through all my pictures of her to find a nice one and can't believe how different she looks now to early on!!!

sparklycheerymummy · 22/05/2010 22:54

I have tried to add it but cos its a photo i am tagged in from my dps phone it wont let me upload it to the group. need to find the lead to get my own photos on here from my phone!!!

Klerka · 23/05/2010 07:35

Morning all,
Another 5am start for me here - I must get an early night tonight! A better night for DD though, she settled quicker - I hadn't zipped her up in her sleeping bag, just did the poppers at the top then zipped her up when I went to bed - that must have made all the difference.

Beautiful photos Hendo and Sparkly... they are all growing so fast aren't they.

Welcome home ABF - glad you had a wonderful time. I miss Devon, I spend a few years growing up there - it's glorious.

I couldn't help but upload a couple of new ones form yesterday to my profile on here. We walked to the shop then sat in the shade of a tree for a while. I tried to take an arty photo with Holly holding a buttercup... of course she tried to put it straight in her mouth! Her dad would be proud... am sure they are edible!

hendo77 · 23/05/2010 07:44

Another not to bad night here either - I really hope this is starting to be a more regular thing! My main problem is often settling her for naps and bedtime - once asleep she seems to be fine. Last night she kept flipping over then shouting to be turned back and then trying to play, despite being sooooo tired. In the end I realised I could tuck the end of her grobag under the bottom of the mattress and spread it across so it was really tight. She screamed hysterically when I did that and left her but I was strong and didn't go back and she was fast asleep in under 4 minutes!!! I hope it's the answer to bedtime settling, but I imagine she'll just work out another way to get around that tonight...

Klerka - loved the buttercup one! Everything does go in their mouths doesn't it - Imogen yesterday pulled off her uncle's glasses, then put them straight in her mouth. Not sure that was very tasty for her...

It's my birthday on Thursday Lee!!

Change it to "21withpractice"

Claire236 · 23/05/2010 15:56

Happy birthday Lee36 & GS.

Have just spent 4 hours watching dh play cricket. When I say watching I actually mean sitting about in the sun reading, watching ds1 play with other children & having a picnic. Was lovely but now have no energy for anything & ds1 wants some dinner. Trying to think of something that vaguely resembles a nutritious dinner but doesn't require much effort.

Love the new name Lee and deffo hope the sun continues to shine as you say!

Does anyone who has a baby that goes to sleep nicely want to come and get them to teach Imogen to do the same... we've had full on hysterics tonight over bedtime and she's still not properly asleep I don't think!!! That's because I wrote earlier the nights were improving... can't wait for dh to arrive home in an hour!!!

LaDiDaDi · 23/05/2010 22:51

Lovely new name Lee.

I've had a really lovely day .

We went to Warkworth Castle and then had a picnic by the river then we went on a rowing boat and then to Morwick Dairy for lovely ice creams. Then called in to see pils on the way home.

After tea I went to see my gran, she's loads better now, or at least back to her usual self. I think that she should get back to her nursing home. Her main difficulty now is mobilising independently which she used to be able to do.

Dd was still awake at 10pm and I haven't been bacck uo to check. She's just far too hot I think but at least she's lying there quietly, she was coming downstairs earlier which I think was because she new ds was with me feeding. I can only think that she's not exhausted as she went to sleep in the car. I'm shattered and will be going to bed in a minute.

hendo77 · 23/05/2010 22:57

LaDiDaDi - really good news about your gran, and of course that you had a lovely day!

BexJ78 · 23/05/2010 22:58

GS, is your birthday 27th May? If so, snap! Mine too!

Klerka · 24/05/2010 07:02

Morning all!
Seems to be a theme that I post first in the morning! I was woken by DD singing to me gently at around 5.45 - which I listened to from under the covers until about 6.10 when I got up . Not a bad night - I didn't zip her in to her sleeping bag in the end - it was just too warm.

Happy Birthday Lee - great name too! Have a lovely day - what are your plans?

Glad your Gran is better LaDiDaDi. I hope she gets back to her home soon. What a lovely day you must have had - Warkworth Castle looks stunning as does the icecream. Yum!

Just saw the weather forecast which said temps might get to 30 degrees today. I don't think we will go anywhere. We rely on the buses or walking and that's just too hot to get stuck out with a hot crying baby. I didn't make it to the local shops and back yesterday without DD getting over hot and very upset.

Did just manage to get a video of DD rolling from back to front as requested by my sister... it's been tough to get as she teases me getting nearly there and then rolling straight back, as if to say 'I'm not a performing monkey Mum!'.
