Thought I'd start a Post-Natal thread as there are so many of us now sorry about the uninspired name.
Well I am slowly realising the sleepless nights thing is no myth - VERY tired!

stinkypinky · 03/11/2010 20:39

Grrrr!

stinkypinky · 03/11/2010 20:40

Fucketyfucketyfuckety!

stinkypinky · 03/11/2010 20:40

Fuuuuuuk!

stinkypinky · 03/11/2010 20:44

Ok really. just tired and missing my babies and daytime TV. Working in a new team, and there are a few 'ishoos' it seems - not had the warmest welcome.

Billie is coping fine, still sleeping ok, but wanting a feed as soon as she sees me at the end of the day, just to say 'hello' I guess Smile

harverina · 03/11/2010 21:25

Stinky, sorry to hear work is a bit shit. There is a chance that I may go back to a new team when I start back work. Not sure how I would feel about it. Are they not being nice to you? (I sound like a child asking that but you know what I mean)

Sleep...last night Eilidh slept from 7.45pm till 6.15am! She stirred at 2am - I automatically assumed that she was awake, so I got up and nipped to the loo, by the time I had gone into her room she had fallen asleep again Grin. Felt so much better this morning after getting a decent sleep. To top things off, she had two decent naps today too - one for 2 hours and the second for one hour. I could get used to this!!

I'm impressed at the spelling princess and nicnac!

SIWM, I have looked at a couple of proper feeding chairs but not willing to spend any more than £150 - less if I can. Need some sort of comfy chair though.

Zeeky, we are exactly the same - I always feed Eilidh when she wakens in the night. Just don't know how else to settle her TBH. I wish I knew how to stop it without her having to cry as I know I will give in if she cries for too long Confused. Will just see how it goes for now.

stinkypinky · 03/11/2010 21:42

harverina hmmmm.... 'bitchy' would best describe it Grin They are clearly just jealous of me, and see me as a threatWink

I am finding it a challenge getting them to accept that I have the right to express in work hours, in privacy, and store my milk in my own fridge (all according to policy)

I love my work though, but wish I could afford to cut my hours a bit.

PrincessTweetz · 04/11/2010 08:11

It's crap being made to feel crappy at work stinky, hope things get better for you :) Well done for sticking to your guns though with the expressing at work..sounds like the 'favourtism' card is being played. I've often wondered how easy/hard it is for mum's who do go back to work , and do want to express. How do you go about expressing in work..are you given a set time or set times to start expressing, and how long are you 'allowed' to express for without raising an eyebrow. Hope things get better soon..you just need someone else to steal the limelight for a bit ;) xx
Thanks *nicnac8, I'll have to look into them, they sound fab. I did feel a tad guilty when I first wrote her name down as a dot-to-dot..instantly thought Jude would have it much easier!! Well done to Ajay to, he sounds like a clever little lad. You've got every right (and privelege) to feel as proud as you do. Isn't it really rewarding to see your little ones 'do' something that you've been siting down and 'showing' them..without that meaning to sound pushy!! x
Zeeky..I caved in last night!!! Blush It was 4.30 and I knew he was asking for milk, so got him some..not sure if it was the right thing or not, but the hour change still not adjusted too!!!! He had his dinner at 11am, then tea at 3pm yesterday, and he drank no more milk than usual, so I had a funny feeling he would be hungry..or is that me making an excuse hehe xx
We've had some sad news this end..it's always the way to make you realise how lucky you are, but today for sure I'm giving my two babies a great big hug and kisses xx

Neeko · 04/11/2010 09:07

Stinky sorry to hear that work's so stressful and you're not getting the support. I'm dreading going back next month though I'll be using forula during the day as I teach and can't see how time to express would work for me.

Princess Sorry to hear you've had bad news. Hope you're ok.

mistymoo Eek to chickenpox. Hope they heal quickly.

Harverina bet you feel great to be so rested. we had our best night ever last night. 7pm-6am with one 20 min wake up. Smile That's the first time in ages that we've not had a prolonged wake up although ahe's been having at least a 7 hour stretch of sleep everynight for 3 weeks or so. Hope you manage to find an affordable chair.

sayit Glad your DS liked the cottage pie. It's still a favourite here. H's feeding has really taken off in the past few days - hurrah!

nicnac Hope you're no longer having to do the dummy run in the night.

ilovesprouts · 04/11/2010 09:18

Bettymum · 04/11/2010 09:55

wow, lots of news to catch up on!
Alexander sleeping so I'm just packing things up that I've sold on Ebay, off to the post office when he wakes up. I too have been having broken nights, the other night A woke at 9.30, 10.30, DD at 2.30 with a wet bed and no sooner was I back in bed after that than he woke up, and then again at 6.30. I felt soooooo wretched the next day. I think it's teething, he's very dribbly. Must admit, I am still feeding in the night. He wok last night just once :) but had a huge feed, even though he's on three meals a day. I'm absolutely dreading going back to work, I can cope if I am just at home all day but the thought of my one-hour commute and being alert and concentrating all day in an open plan office is making my blood run cold. And then I've got to stay awaks for an hour's drive home again. Argh. Stinky, I am impressed with the expressing. With DD I didn't fancy trying to sit expressing at work, so I never did, but we managed with just morning and evening feeds. I did manage to wean her off the night feeds before I went back with her, but she was much smaller than A and never woke as much as he did. I think I may leave it till christmas to try and stop the night feeds, he still seems to young...Oh, talk of the devil, I hear wailing from upstairs, best go.
Stinky hope work is going better for you.

Mistymoo · 04/11/2010 13:04

Thanks for all your messages. DS is actually very content considering he is covered in spots. I think it's a blessing that he can't scratch really.

It's me that's having the problem. I'm struggling with cabin fever. There are only so many towers you can build to be knocked over and so many songs you can sing etc. I've a sore head and I'm sure it's because I've been stuck in with no hope of getting out!!!!!

Hi everyone,
sleepy Sorry to hear that your still up alot at night. I wouldn't worry too much about what your mum says. N is still very young to be making a diagnosis like that. I know people with babies the same age and they are up every 2 hours at night still. Although you probably feel like the only mum still getting up so much, you are not alone, I think that I have just been lucky with eilidh. Hope your managing to get some rest and relaxation on your own.
Neeko glad to hear you had a good nights sleep...hoping that it continues for you going back to work.
princess your right...sad news does make you realise how lucky we are. Life is so precious. Its easy to get caught up in the daily grind and forget that. Hope your Ok. Sorry you have had sad news x
I am going out tonight! Have a new dress, new shoes, new bag, new earrings, new ring, new eye lashes Wink. Now all I need is an injection of energy! Also hope I will get use out of my glam outfit over christmas as i'm never out these days.

Just going to go into a nice got bath before expressing. Have 18oz so far for tonight so hoping thats enough to let me stay out for nor than an hour!
Hope you are all well x

Zeeky · 06/11/2010 19:17

Had a lovely afternoon at the theatre seeing the Sound of Music, only to get back to my sister's to find that George had been screaming for the last few hours as had refused to sleep & was also refusing his tea. DH was in a foul mood! Within minutes of me being back, G was all smiles & gobbling down his tea! I think we have a rather spoilt mummy's boy on our hands! Bang goes any chance of me escaping for any future afternoons as DH said never again :(

The theatre was great though. Better go and rescue my sister from DS1 downstairs - I can hear his name being shouted repeatedly!!!

harverina · 06/11/2010 20:28

Zeeky hopefully your dh will change his mind! Glad you had a nice time. I am on my way out. Is it sad that I wish I was in my jammies watching x factor?! First drink will be a cocktail to get me started!

PrincessTweetz · 07/11/2010 07:20

Wow!!!!!!! I got up at 6.30 this morning with dd, and thought I don't feel very tired...then realised Jude didn't wake up during the night last night!!! Woo!! He woke at around 11.30 just before I went to bed, I gave him some milk....and zzzzzzzzzzzz. So impressed...now exactly what did we do yesterday??!! Grin
Hope you enjoyed your night out

Harverina..more than you would have enjoyed Xfactor and pjs hehe x

I watched The Ugly Truth instead of XFactor...(Mmmmmm, Gerard Butler!!!) then just before I went to bed I quickly fast forwarded to Aiden's performance..then watched it again, then went to bed Blush I sooo want his album and he hasn't even got one yet!!x

Sleepy, hope things are getting better for you..it's stressful enough moving house without having to think about making sure all Noah's needs are met before starting the tasks x I agree with Harverina.. try not to worry about what may or may not be 'wrong' with him..he's still very young. I hope you have got someone that you can have a good old rant to, and then feel better for it.x

Everything this end is really good at the min..my sister's step daughter had an operation to remove a brain tumor, and it went well..just waiting on the results of the tumor now. Fingers crossed she is over the worst, she scared a few of us xx

stinkypinky · 07/11/2010 09:00

Congratulations Jude and Princess x Grin

harverina · 07/11/2010 20:20

princess thats great that you got a good nights sleep. Well done jude! Hope tonight is just as good for you. Our night out was really good. We were home for about 1am so not too late. Lovely to spend some time out with my dh. We were up at 6am with eilidh but I managed to go to back to bed while eilidh was with her grandma. My mil is fantastic with her.
I'm tired tonight. Its hard to believe that just over a year and half ago I was out most weekends Confused...i feel so old!

Hope you are all well. Eilidh is in her bed, I have had my bath and i'm in my pj's...bliss! Smile

PrincessTweetz · 07/11/2010 22:25

You're obviously not that old Harverina..1am in the morning is sooo late for me I feel like I've pulled an all nighter if I manage it...and look like I'm taking part in a gurning contest with all the pretending-I'm-not-yawning yawns I do Grin xx Glad you had a good night, and are back to your heaven of pjs Wink
Probably way too much info lol..but I vajeezled (??) myself last night...as well as shaved my legs too!! H2b thought he'd won the lottery with all my sparkles!! (I on the other hand thought he'd taken classes, it can't be that long that I'd forgotten how good it he can be!!)
Right better go, before I reread this with a red face and dig myself a hole for the embarrassment!!! Blush xx

harverina · 08/11/2010 11:50

princess I think I would have stayed out longer if my DH had agreed! He almost ran to the bus stop...think that the thought of sleep deprivation (well more than usual!) was scaring him Smile Sounds like you had a good night last night Wink

Having a day at home today. Got alot of washing to catch up on plus I am loaded with the cold Sad...may drag myself into the shower this afternoon and take Eilidh out for a walk, although the weather is wild here!

Sorry to go back onto a topic that we discussed last week but I noticed a big drop i temperature last night. Eilidh's room was 16 degrees at 9pm and that was with the heating on. She has a vest, a baby grow, sleeping bag and sheet on at the moment. Thinking I might pop a blanket on tonight?

PrincessTweetz · 08/11/2010 19:41

Harverina..Jude is in a vest, babygro and sleeping bag, and at the min he has 2 blankets casually thrown over him, and later when I go to bed I will pop another on before the heating kicks off completely...some may think it sounds over the top, but I can feel a proper chill these nights so kind of go from there..plus even dd woke last night and told me she was cold, so I grabbed a fleecy blanket and tucked it right over her quilt so she couldn't kick the covers off. I did the same with her tonight. Hope that helps xx

sayitwithme · 08/11/2010 20:58

princess sorry to hear about your news... hope things continue to look up for your sister's step-daughter. Just looked up what you were talking about as had no clue and wow! I might have to give it a go!

'nuff respect haverina for being out til 1am. My pumpkin hour used to be midnight at best before DCs and now it's 10pm so I'm in awe of your stamina! Grin The most exciting prospect in my social calendar at the moment is the new Harry Potter movie... Blush

sleepy congratulations on moving into your new home. The view sounds to die for. Envy

stinky so sorry to hear about the bumpy start back at work. Hope things are improving/settling a bit.

Well we had a berakthrough last night but it might be short-lived for reasons I'll explain in a bit. DS slept thru from 6.30pm til 6am without waking once!!!! Shock And on a separate (but maybe related?) I was dead proud of myself as I made a proper Sunday roast for the first time in donkeys and blended some up for DS. He ate it all, despite grunting and growling his way through it (DD did that too at 7 months - what IS that all about?!?). However, he didn't go to bed too smoothly tonight, think he might have a cold coming, so not sure what the night ahead holds.

Made a turkey mince meat loaf (got the recipe off MN) and fed that to him tonight, blended up with carrots, potato and brocolli. He, again, ate it all up but whinged his way through it. The noise goes right through me like a blade... sets my teeth on edge. Almost had to have a couple of paracetemols afterwards. Hmm

Still no sign of teeth, despite bright rosy cheeks. Still no sign of moving but his sister didn't either until she learned to bum shuffle. She hated tummy time and he does too.

sayitwithme · 08/11/2010 20:59

princess - so sorry, that should have been two paragraphs - one about your sister's step daughter and one about vajeezling, or however you spell it! It didn't all come out very well as I've written it. Apologies again.

Mistymoo · 08/11/2010 21:53

Well chicken pox has now all scabbed up so out and about again.

sayitwithme DS has been dribbling for months and has had rosy cheeks several times but still no teeth. He only moves backwards but can pull himself up in the bath and nearly manages to pull himself up on the couch. He's only 6 months Shock, I can't remember the other 2 doing it so soon. I hope he doesn't start walking too soon because I'll have to keep an eye on him even sooner - you can tell he's not my first!! The longer they are not mobile the better in my opinion Wink

harverina · 08/11/2010 22:08

sayitwithme, I spotted a tooth for the first time at the weekend! It is just a flat white bit at the moment. Only saw it as I was standing at Eilidh's head while her Dad was chainging her and she was screaming. I was very excited! I dont think that it has quite pushed its way through her gum yet. Eilidh loves being on her tummy now. She used to hate it but is constantly rolling over to play with her toys. If I leave her for even a minute she moves quite far...not sure if she is shuffling or crawling, she never does it when I am in the room...she is also all over her cot too Confused I video taped her today so will have a lookto see how she is getting around the room!

Glad to hear that you got a full nights sleep, its wonderful isn't it?! I'm afraid Eilidh has been back up during the night this week but only the once for no more than 20 minutes so I can live with that. Your roast dinner sounds nice, will need to give meat more of a go this week. Made Eilidh soup today which she had for her tea with rice cakes. She gobbled it all up.

princess thanks for that...I have put a blanket over Eilidh tonight. Its so much colder this week Sad.

Sorry to hear about your sisters stepdaughter, hope that she is ok?
