Thought I'd start a Post-Natal thread as there are so many of us now sorry about the uninspired name.
Well I am slowly realising the sleepless nights thing is no myth - VERY tired!

Neeko · 02/09/2010 10:10

Thanks nicnac and bettymum That's H after half her hair fell out! Blush

Bettymum · 02/09/2010 10:21

Neeko - wow! A lot of lovely hair then! I have managed to put a couple of photos up, I think.

nicnacinoonoo · 02/09/2010 10:23

wow bettymum they do look the same. alexander's eyes maybe look a bit darker. are they?
everyone comments on how much my two look alike as well. except that Ajay's eyes were darker than Kacie's. will have to try the wearing the same clothes thing and dig out some of Ajay's baby pics.

HEalth visitors are useless aren't they. Mentioned to mine earlier about George's night waking & distracted feeding & she tells me to either give bottles of formula to fill him up in the daytime (he's exclusively bf & won't take a bottle) or to start him on solids (he'll only be 18 weeks tomorrow!) I thought they were supposed to support & encourage bf'ing & advise not to wean until 6 months???

Loving all the photos!

Ds had his first session at pre-school today. Spent the rest of the day trying to track down school uniform & shoes as they have to wear uniform from Monday. He's getting so grown up. He's only just turned 3 and already off to school!

harverina · 02/09/2010 22:46

Love all the photos! I will try and put a couple up now too!

zeeky that is scuh rubbish advice you have been given! No supprt for you at all. It makes me mad. Luckily my HV was quite supportive of BF'ing.

Zeeky · 03/09/2010 01:40

Haverina luckily for me I wasn't really seeking advice from hv, just interested as to what rubbish she would come out with! I only go to the clinic to get G weighed as they are awful at giving any constructive advice!

Here I am up bf'ing at 1.30am. I'll be up again about 4.30 no doubt. Doesn't seems to matter how much he feeds and sleeps during the day, he is consistently waking between 1 & 2 and again between 4 & 5. I'm just praying it is a phase that he will grow out of as he was sleeping through until 5 or 6 most nights.

Zeeky · 03/09/2010 07:14

Wow - after my post above, he didn't wake again until 7!! A 5 hour stretch of sleep for me - bliss! Hopefully he has broken his waking pattern of the last two weeks...

harverina · 03/09/2010 21:58

Zeeky, thats great news, you prob felt so much better for getting some decent sleep last night. Hope tonight is even better! It's funny how 5 hours seems like a full nights sleep now! Eilidh slept 10pm till 6.30am this morning which was great. She then went back to bed till 9am.

Yesterday we all went back to bed at 8am and we all woke up at 11am - is that bad?! Felt so good for it.

Going away on our hols tomorrow. Really looking forward to it. All packed but the house looks like a bomb has hit it! Going to go and tidy up - hate the thought of coming back to this mess!

Hope you are all well and having a good friday night. Hope your little bundles are tucked up in bed and sleep all night Grin.

Zeeky · 09/09/2010 18:55

Hey where is everyone - it's been very quiet here. Maybe everyone is up to their eyes in purees & baby rice :)

Still having rubbish nights with George. The last 2 nights have been particularly bad with him being wide awake, thrashing around & squealing for a couple of hours. He's not crying, just wide awake & hyper which keeps me awake! Last night I think it was cos he was trying to fill his nappy as after a couple of hours of him banging around his cot I went in to feed him again & he had a big dirty nappy!

Oh well, just have to hope we have a better night tonight.

PrincessTweetz · 09/09/2010 20:01

I'm still here Zeeky!!! I always pop on, but noone was posting so thought I'd keep quiet and not bore everyone!!! ;)
Hope you have a better sleep, last night Jude only woke once at 4.30..really happy!! He's in bed at 7pm, and normally wakes a few times from around 12ish. The worst bit is when one of my angels sleep in, the other one doesn't, and without fail, they both seem to wake up between 6.30 and 6.55am!!!
It's been my dd's first week at nursery and she's done really well! The tears have stopped now too, so that's a bonus. The first day I left her, I was crying nonstop for 2 hours....I cried when I left her, cried in the car park, cried in the car, cried at my mum's, pulled myself together and popped to get a pair of jeans that would fit me (!!) and burst out crying in the car park , (a song was being played called Stay With Me!!), and embarrassingly enough I cried walking around the shops Blush
The thing is, she doesn't even seem to notice me when she gets picked up...she runs straight to her dad (I secretly love that tho cuz I've not got nor ever had that), and yesterday my mum came with me to get her, and she ran straight to granny!! At least I know she's not missing me Hmm
Jude's fascinated with his hands, I'd forgotten how cute it wsa..in the mornings he lies there rolling his hands around, it's well cute, and he's constantly reaching out for stuff too, newspapers, hair, dinner plates Blush Grin. Can't believe OMG, it's not nearly 6 months...it IS 6 months since I had him, n he was all hot smelling &tiny & dark in my arms, on my sofa that I'm now sitting on while he's tucked up chubbily and snuggly in bed..well his crib lol. Oooops...I'm rambling...Happy 6 months to all you mummies approaching your halfyear with your cherubs..we've come a very long way since we first started posting!!!! Wink x

Zeeky · 10/09/2010 13:46

Hi Princess! Glad I'm not the only one here! DS started preschool this week too. No tears thankfully but he has been doing 2 mornings at a private nursery since April when we had all the tears (mine & his!)

had a better night with George last night - only woke at 10 and 4.30 which meant I got a bit of uninterrupted sleep. I've started putting him to bed at 7pm same time as DS1 as he seemed ready & does go straight to sleep. It means we have our evenings back :) not that he was any trouble, but it is nice to have a bit of child-free time together.

PrincessTweetz · 10/09/2010 19:29

I agree...I absolutely love my babies (Makenzi-Shei will always be my baby lol!!), but I deffo love having them both tucked up by 7ish, tidy (ish) house, and a chance to be a 'grown up' lol....I've tried getting dp to rub my feet while I laze on sofa, like the old days but he's having none of it !!!!

It's that time of year for me to start making christmas cards too, so I'll be able to make some at night, now that I'm not off to bed at 9pm every night to cope with every hour and a half waking!!!!
I'm off to watch a very solemn last bb...I'm officially a sad act but I love it :( xx

harverina · 10/09/2010 21:53

Hi! I'm here too! I have been popping on and thought you had all disappeared! zeeky hope tonight is as good has last night. princess poor you crying like that. I have to admit i'm a crier so I would be exactly the same. I was crying just looking at nurseries online for when I go back to work next year! We have been on our hols this week in aviemore. Going home tomorrow. Its been a great week. Eilidh has been wonderful. She is still waking during the night but only once. She still usually sleeps for between 6 and 8 hours before wakening so I can't complain. Eilidh will be 23 weeks on monday and she is so interested in food! We are starting baby led weaning in two weeks time. Going to do it on a weekend so that my dh Is there too. Eilidh is teething big time. Poor baby, its horrible for them isn't it? Eilidh rolled over last night for the first time while my dh was changing her. I was so excited! I was starting to worry that she would never do it. She has also learnt how to scream and does it all the time, even when she is smiling. Its so high pitched...had a couple of interesting nights this week eating out! Sorry for no paragraphs, i'm on my mobile phone. Hope you are all well Smile

PrincessTweetz · 10/09/2010 22:02

Harverina Jude's a screamer too...I had started to think it must be down to my household being noisy having an older child, and Jude picking up on the noise levels Blush
Well done Eilidh!!!! It's great when they do things for the first time, I was on the phone to my mum tonight and watched Jude rotate like a clock hand in a full circle..I was well impressed but when I told my mum she hummed and then carried on with her conversation...I must lead a boring life to other people!!!! :) xx

Bettymum · 11/09/2010 08:54

Hello, I'm here too! Just struggling a bit from lack of sleep. Last night I had Alexander waking up twice, and DD once as she'd wet the bed, so I had to strip the bed and make it up again at 4 in the morning Confused.
I went out and bought all the little weaning spoons and things last week, exciting! I am taking the DCs to Italy in a couple of weeks to see my sister and her three DDs, so I'm leaving weaning till we get back. I'm also going to put Alex in his own room when we get back, he is growing up!
Princess how do you make your cards? I did some last year with red cards from Hobbycraft and green felt christmas trees, I thought they were lovely but don't know what anyone else thought of them Grin.

Zeeky · 11/09/2010 09:28

Well done Eilidh for rolling over! George managed to roll onto his side for the first time on Friday. He's a fat lad so doesn't move very much :) he's also learnt to scream recently although it's more of a screech. The first time he did it he looked round in shock as if to say "who did that"!

Had another random night of him being awake for a couple of hours. Eventually he did a massive burp which must have been the cause!

We're trying to hold off weaning for a few weeks as we're off to Eurodisney at the end of sept & really don't want the hassle of dragging a load of babyfeeding stuff with us. With bf'ing it should be easy.

PrincessTweetz · 11/09/2010 10:04

Bettymum, I'll pop a couple of pics up when I get the chance for you to have a nosey at. I'm sure they were lovely cards...will you be making your own again this year? I'm hoping I have enough time lol x ps...gonna take half hour out from the housework lol so I'll do the pics now xx

PrincessTweetz · 11/09/2010 10:22

I've put a couple up Bettymum....apart from the iris folded cards, the rest were done with stamps, cut and coloured, and either layered with foam pads, or placed flat, and I also used various christmas papers for the backgrounds. The shops have already brought out their christmas stamps and papers, so if you get the chance to make your own again this year...happy shopping lol xx

Bettymum · 12/09/2010 09:27

Wow, they're lovely Princess! Do you sell them?
Bit of a sleep deprived haze here this morning...woken up by a hungry baby at 11.30, then 2.30, then had to strip DD's bed again and make it with clean sheets, then Alexander grumbled again, so back into bed about 3.30, then woken up at 5, took him into our bed and dozed till 6.30 when he woke up for the day, I left him with DH and crawled into the spare room for an hour's sleep. I think he's getting close to weaning but it'll be a lot easier to leave it till we're back from Italy and I don't really want to start till he's six months. I'll just have to deal with the lack of sleep for a few more weeks...
Anyway, it's a glorious sunny day here so feeling OK.

PrincessTweetz · 12/09/2010 18:55

Thank you BettyMum, I have sold the odd one to family, but wasn't sure if I was quite good enough for normal people to buy them lol.
Poor you, hope you get a better sleep tonight....I could do with a long soak, and an early night, but I have to get things sorted :( cuz I'm off to Devon in the morning :) Something tells me it's gonna be a loooooooooooooooooooooooooooong night!!! Should be worth it when I get there though. I'll catch up with everyone's news in a week's time....if I don't get one last chance to pop on tomorrow morning hehe Wink xxx

Bettymum · 13/09/2010 08:25

Well after that horrible night on Saturday/Sunday, Alexnder didn't wake up till 6.45 this morning!! So happy! So refreshed! :)

Zeeky · 13/09/2010 10:39

Bettymum it makes such a difference getting the extra sleep doesn't it? Had a better night with George too. He only woke once at 3 and as I'd gone to sleep at 10 it meant I'd already had a good chunk of sleep before he woke. Feel so much better for it today as yesterday I was dead on my feet all day.

Helenwombat - I'm afraid I often call him Fat Lad which I really must stop before DS1 picks it up and calls someone at nursery fat lad! He's such a chubster though - very cuddly & kissable :)

harverina · 13/09/2010 21:37

bettymum and zeeky, glad to hear that your getting a bit more sleep. Eilidh is still only waking once during the night but I feel totally shattered so far this week. Eilidh woke at 5am for a ten minute feed then was back up at 7.30am. She had a feed, was changed, then went back to bed. I was just about to follow her into bed when the phone rang and a workman said he was on his way to fit my windows Angry! I need to start going to bed earlier. Last night I sat up till after midnight for no reason. I suppose I just feel like I get some time to relax once Eilidh is in bed and before I know it, its so late.

Yeah zeeky its so lovely when they do somthing new. I probably get a little over excited! Eilidh has been saying mama since she roughly 18 weeks. Its not always clear though, but this week she has been saying it all the time. She first said it one night when she woke up around midnight. I was getting out of bed and she just blurted it out. My DH was not convinced but then she said it again, and again, and again...Grin.

Feeding has been so much better - back to longer feeds of 10-20 minutes and very wet and dirty nappies. She has been peeing for Scotland!

We have set a date for weaning and I have planned my menu! Avocado, sweet potato and stewed apple. I am so excited, its quite sad!!

Hope you are all well. Bought myself a lovely teapot so I'm away to have another cup of tea (you'd think I was 68 not 28!)
