Just thought that I would get this started before the ante-natal thread gets filled up, not that I've had much time to post since I had DS but others might be able to multi-task better than I can!

LaDiDaDi - DS has watched the Sky+ recording of the film Robots so many times now that he can predict when the ads are about to start and asks for it to be fast forwarded

Moosy · 11/01/2010 18:25

We love Robots too, the DDs nearly know it all off by heart! They watch far too much at the moment, but I'm trying not to feel guilty as normally they're very active and outdoorsy so I'm sure they'll make up for it soon

Went to a clinic today and apparently she's put on 18oz in 7 days! I'm now beginning to wonder if maybe the HV's scales were wrong last week and perhaps she hadn't been losing weight then. If I disregard her 2 weighings last week then she's put on 18oz in 19 days which seems far more likely! And if that is the case then it means I've been worrying and doing FF top ups unneccessarily but of course I'll never know so I'll carry on as we are for a bit then slowly try to cut out the FF.

Sorry for all the poorlies, hope you're all better soon

damnitdamnit · 11/01/2010 18:56

Hi all not had a chance to catch up with the thread as Ebony still in hospital. However she is much better and will hopefully be coming home tomorrow, and afetr a nights sleep i will hopefully get some chance to mn and fb.

GoldenSnitch · 11/01/2010 20:39

Hope eveyone and thier babies are feeling better and staying well.

I've just ordered Catherine a baby sleeping bag. She was stirring this morning at 5.30am and when I checked on her, she was uncovered so I pulled the blanket back over her...she then dozed back off and slept till 7am!! So I'm hoping this sleeping bag might lead to some longer sleeps for all of us. We didn't put DS into a sleeping bag until he went into his cot so I only had 6 month+ size.

Had my fist day today at home alone with both the children and it went OK. DS only got grumpy once and we managed to do lots of playing even though Catherine was awake and wanting to feed a lot during the afternoon. He's been shouting and hitting me when he gets frustrated with her so I was dreading being alone with them both. So relieved that it went well.

Looking forward to being able to drive again though. It'll be so much easier when I can take him out.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 12/01/2010 09:57

snitch, I had first day yesterday. we didnt have all day together because of nursery, but other than that it went really well. i think getting back to old routine helps.

(everyone, please excuse lack of decent punctuation, spelling and capitalisations im learning to type one handed )

GoldenSnitch · 12/01/2010 10:42

Attempting routine today. We're going to walk down to the local toddler group. It's the only thing we go to that doesn't involve driving so I need to make the most of it!

AmazingBouncingFerret · 12/01/2010 10:58

Walking in this snow is a nightmare im glad I have the pram to hold onto otherwise I would of been on my arse several times! Its even worse now that its turned into horrible slippy mushy slush, will be glad when it's all gone.

Claire236 · 12/01/2010 13:09

I've been getting some good exercise walking ds1 to school in the snow. Trying to think of the good it's doing my thighs rather than how hard work it is pushing a pram through snow.

Had bad night with ds2 last night. He barely slept all day having been hungry all day but only ever having a few ounces at a time. Then last night he slept 1-3am then was awake until 0430 when he went to sleep until 0700. Today he's slept for a whole 20 mins although he's just gone to sleep & looks like he might be staying that way for a bit (touch wood) He's also back to bringing up what looks like a whole bottle at least once a day & doing this horrible pained crying as if he's got wind between bottles. Was going to take him to see hv today but felt like crying so hid at home instead. Also came on today which didn't help. ds2 is only 6 weeks, thought I'd have longer than that before first period.

anniebigpants · 12/01/2010 13:58

claire-just out of interest what formula are you using? The reason i ask is my DS2 was having a lot of problems with wind/colic etc and he was on SMA gold which he has been on for almost 5 weeks since i gave up bf, i did a bit of research on the net and switched him 2 days ago to Cow & gate Comfort and i can start to see the change, hes not in nearly half as much discomfort with wind etc, im still using infacol as well, maybe worth a try?
Ive been in tears today as DS2 was screaming for almost an hour and i couldnt console him, he seemed in pain, hed been fed only an hour and a half previous and taken nearly 5 oz, i tried everything, hanging his nappy, trying to rock him to sleep etc, he seemed hungry again so i offered another feed and he walloped back 4 oz. Hes hardly sleeping through the day, i cant get anything done as if hes not feeding or cat napping hes usually crying, he wont lie in his chair or under his play gym, hes on my shoulder now as im typing.
My period started bang on 6 weeks as well, ive been bleeding almost a week now and it is so heavy.

Hope everyone else well.

madmissy · 12/01/2010 16:51

oh the joys of womanhood

ds has had a cough and is all snuffly and croaky, his poor cry is all hoarse just hoping it stays clear of his chest

claire you must be shattered as his sleep seems so sparse! how are you feeling todya?

ds still feeds every 3 hours but seems to be going tad longer in the day- but not at night

bluesatinsash · 12/01/2010 17:08

Hi everyone,

I'm still way in my comfort zone at home as DH is off for another week. Not even thinking about next week and getting DS1 to playgroup but Mum and friends have offered to take him as I can't drive til 3rd Feb. If the snow is gone I'll walk with pram but shitting myself nonetheless about getting 'out there' again.

DS2 had a bad night too, took over an hour to settle after his 3am feed, just lying beside me crying sore as I sang 'my favourite things' from sound of music on a loop. He does nap well during the day and I'm stict about him not sleeping into a feed so will wake him if he's still sleeping 3 hours after his last feed. He can now stay awake for @ an hour-hour and a half after each feed.. Going to buy a bouncy chair on Thurs, we didn't have one for DS1 - what the hell did we do, I can't remember!

I used Aptamil for DS1 when he went on a bottle at 4 months. HV told me SMA gold was causing constipation . DS1 never had any bother with Aptamil but the price does me.

LaDiDaDi · 12/01/2010 17:34

We are going to register DS tomorrow, pleased that we both still love his name after weeks of indecisiveness before he was born. I'm quite excited about making him official!

I'm going to go to docs tomorrow or Thursday as I need to get contraception sorted and I want them to agree that I'm fine to drive, rang ins. company yesterday and they said that if docs agree then I can.....freedom! Hopefully the snow will all be gone by the end of the week and then we can go for little walks too.

Oh, having a weird behaviour from DD (3.7) who is constantly saying that she is hungry...she's no twiggy and usually has a really good appetite and diet but she seems to be saying it because DS is feeding all of the time. I'm trying to distract her or offer only breadsticks or melon as snacks but I wondered if anyone else had seen this? Or had any better ideas on how to manage it?

anniebigpants - he's been on Aptamil, Cow & Gate & Aptamil. Bought some Farleys Nurture today to try. Oddly the SMA seemed to suit him better than the others. I think a lot of his problem is wind & he was bringing up loads of it with SMA. dh has just taken him off me as I'm losing the will to live & he's brought up loads of wind & is now hiccupping. I'm giving him Infacol although I'm not sure it's making a difference. Will give Comfort formula a try next. Your ds sounds very much like mine. The last few days have been a nightmare.

madmissy - I'm feeling pretty crap tbh. I like being able to be honest on here. I'm not constantly complaining in real life like I do on here but need an outlet.

sparklycheerymummy · 12/01/2010 21:47

i was told with dd to try any new milk or bottle etc for at least 2 weeks...... not that i did..... i had every milk under the sun including soya stuff that smelt like powdered mashed potato...... i also tried every bottle and the best ones were the cheapest tall bottles with latex teats......i found this out after investing in nuk, avent and mam bottles..... cant remember dr browns or the tommee tippee ones being out 8 years ago!. Toby had a really good day..... out all day from school run in morning ..... to friends, shopping, to soft play centre with friends.... to dds swimming and finally drop off at brownies..... and i coped!!!! he is fast asleep now...... but not sure for how long!

aNYONE KNOW WHERE I CAN FIND A HUMIDIFIER..... SUPPOSED TO HELP WITH SNOTTY NOSES ETC!!!???

1petshortofazoo · 13/01/2010 15:49

The physio people came today to asses regan, she said he has got 90% of his nerve function back and there is nothing for her to do. Maybe if they didn't wait nearly 4 weeks before seeing him there may have been something for her to do! But at least hes on the mend.

LaDiDaDi · 13/01/2010 16:51

Pleased to hear it 1pet. I've had quite a good day here but a bit concerned that ds has slept a lot so will probably be wide awake most of the night!

At one point today I did think how ridiculous I must look, dd had me dressed in a fairy crown with a wand in one hand, ds bf in the other arm, a feather boa around my neck and a pink blanket over my shoulders. We were pretending that she was my mummy and I was her little girl and it was my birthday. Not sure who ds belonged to but glad no one knocked at the door! Usually hate that sort of play but as you can tell, I got quite into it!!

Haha ladi what a combination

LaDiDaDi · 14/01/2010 15:34

Having a disappointing day, dd is with PIL this afternoon so I had thought that I'd get loads done without her but unfortunately DS has wanted to be fed almost continuously from 1pm and is still going!. Have less than 30 minutes to do all that I wanted to....

Hi ladies just crashing from Jan 2010 board although Ds arrived 11th Dec

Can I just ask those with little ones who have been in hospital with bronchiolitis how are they doing now Ds was admitted new years eve and spent 7 days on oxygen the thing is he's still really wheezy and breathless at times and coughing loads although he is drinking fine.
Thanks Ali x

madmissy · 14/01/2010 20:36

i never get what i want done with these 3 i have given up on trying lol!

GoldenSnitch · 14/01/2010 20:45

I had visitors over today and just had to apologise for the state of the house! It's a mess but between them, DD and DS are taking up all of my time at the moment.

DS is really not taking having a new sister very well at all and has regressed with his potty training and is still very angry a lot of the time. He told me yesterday that he was fed up because of baby Catherine Made me feel like a real failure. I tried so hard to prepare him with books and talking and making all the changes well in advance but he's really struggling.

Think I'm going to try driving to take him out next week if the snow has gone. He told me that he wanted to go out in Mummy's car today so I know he's fed up of being home. The insurance company say I can drive when I feel ready so as long as the ice has gone, I think it might make life easier if we get out and about.

Claire236 · 14/01/2010 21:16

Feeling awful today. ds2 had his worst night last night & only slept 3-5am. dh was able to take ds1 to school today so I got another couple of hours sleep while ds2 slept from 7-9am. dh is away with work tonight & I've been in tears several times today dreading him not being here. Can't carry on functioning on only a few hours sleep a night with ds2 screaming the rest of the time.

GoldenSnitch · 14/01/2010 21:28

Sorry to hear that Claire. I hope your DSs let you get some more sleep tonight. Do you have anyone who could come over in the morning to help you with DS1?
