Captain I'm sending you much love. I believe you're a very smart cookie to plug the tap (so to speak). I had a similar realization many moons ago and quite honestly haven't missed the regular indulgences. My occasional margaritas taste all the better and I will openly confess that in 15+ years I doubt I've finished an entire drink. I'm a sipper. My emotional state is much calmer. Oh, and like smoking, I did it COLD TURKEY. I'm a firm believer that if you set your mind to something you can do it!! Good Job! and Good Luck!

VG hello

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 20/12/2009 20:32

cc well done to you re drinking. and good luck.

ts yes 5 weeks is a long time (feels like longer)
He adores his milk, and asks for it constantly. It was heartbreaking settling him to bed with just water for a week, as they know the routine of chair story cuddle milk etc, and when it never came he just kept saying 'meh' 'meh' and by the third night he just burried his head in me and went to sleep.
bless. We will get round to a cup eventually. I am certainly not going to stress over it atm.

vg yes I remember it was dizzy with the tooth.
I have had root canal treatment on this tooth twice, but luckily it lasted over ten year. Unfortunatley at my last dental appointment in August she told me it was fractured too (whatever that means) and to keep my eye on it.
So nothing else they could do but take it out.
Feels better atm, not had pain relief since this afternoon, which makes a refreshing change as I have been taking them for 2 weeks now.

Lots of snow out side. DD was so excited yesterday and dh made her a tiny snowman, so I have promised we will build a big one tomorow as it is very deep now and more to come tonight.

Is everyone almost sorted then?

ts I am also a sipper. in fact I hardly drink at all these days. Maybe the odd glass of red, which I promised myself tonight, but can't be bothered.

If I have a gin or vodka or wine and it has been sat for more than an hour, then dh drinks it.

I never dare drink more than a glass incase I need to take the dcs anywhere. Bit pfbish probably as if a dire emergency I would ring 999, but It is just how I am. I think maybe because dh drinks alot, so I think one of us should be sober when dcs are in the house.

However if we have Port....

TwilightSleighing · 20/12/2009 20:36

No1 I see. Now I understand. I though he was refusing it altogether. Poor thing but yes he will get use to things.

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 20/12/2009 20:39

ts I also went cold turkey re smoking. Got up to around 30 a day at one point, when I was running the pubs.Ridiculous.

vg sounds like you have had a wonderful day, glad your mum is around loved ones. Hope she is feeling ok.

I am feeling a bit lonely. Dh is working on nights, and is not off now till xmas day.

TwilightSleighing · 20/12/2009 20:41

I feel the same way. If I drink then how can I be sensible in an emergency. I have had enough at least once in the last 6 months to make me silly. And you know....nothing happened. No emergencies. I laugh at myself for being so strict on myself....but tis me and I'm awesome. LOL!!!!

TwilightSleighing · 20/12/2009 20:44

30! WOW You definitely needed to change that. I've always felt odd having had no problem at all quitting cold turkey. Good to hear of another successful turkey out there.

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 20/12/2009 20:47

I know what you mean but I can't help it.

I am now trying to work out how to upload pictures to laptop form my mobile.

cyteen · 20/12/2009 21:01

Am rather of all you sippers. I'm a slurper and drink too fast. It's annoying because I actually don't like getting drunk unless it's an occasion to iyswim, like going out and getting merry with friends or whatever. At home I don't like getting tipsy but I love the taste of wine and beer. If more places sold good alcohol-free beer I'd gladly drink that 9 times out of 10, but nowhere does.

no1 what a pisser about your tooth. Think I'm having something similar - old root canal site is making my face ache today, possibly due to a bunged-up sinus. Luckily for me though, I have 200 quids worth of dental treatment booked in January Merry Christmas! Hope yours is on the up now.

Poor little M, I can just picture him nuzzling his head against you. I thought of you today actually as DS has been a right mardy arse all day and I know you often say that about M, although he's always been the soul of jollity when we've met.

Not much to report here. DS mardy as described - lovely, but moaning on about nothing much. I had visions of taking him to the swing park for ecstatic first experience of snow - took camera all ready to record the joy - he cried as soon as he got outside the front door and refused to walk anywhere, so I lugged his 2st frame to the park and back for 5 minutes of swing pushing

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 20/12/2009 21:15

LOL cyteen yes he is still mardy as ever, however went to see dad today and he was full of joy
So every one thinks I am lying. Although they did witness his anger/temper and the hitting.

He has developed a very bad temper, but tbh they can't talk properly and tell you exactly what they want all the time, so he just makes this very loud noise. Very hard to describe.
Very loud and annoying.
Does it when he wants something or when you take something off him. then hits.nips or pulls hair. Delightful he is.
He has started repeating everything in the last few days though, and his favourite word of the week is 'pretty'

DD never fails to amaze me with the conversations. How funny it is to have a chat with one so small. Truly amazing.

In fact I have to be very careful as I mentioned to dh the other night before I went out, that she was knackered, and she overheard and said.'no mummy I not knackered'

DingDongMiamlaOnHigh · 20/12/2009 21:16

evening all, feeling rubbish..only a cold though so i'll survive!

TwilightSleighing · 20/12/2009 21:35

No1 you have to edit your conversations from this point forward. I fear one day my thinking-out-loud moments will come back to haunt me. DD1 is soooooo all about telling folks what she hears.

SazzlesOnASled · 20/12/2009 21:39

DD1 constantly repeats 'Oh...My...God...' from Mamma Mia

cyteen · 20/12/2009 21:41

Boo miamla, tis bug season for sure, especially among us parents of toddlers.

Apropos of nothing, here is a really beautiful moving performance by Corinne Bailey Rae for you all to enjoy...DP and I saw this when it was on telly and sat open-mouthed through the whole thing. I never had much time for her earlier stuff, too neat and tidy, but this just caught me.

TwilightSleighing · 20/12/2009 21:54

Sazzles mine says that too and hasn't even seen Mama Mia. She's repeating playground chatter. Maybe THEY'VE seen Mama Mia. LOL!

DingDongMiamlaOnHigh · 20/12/2009 21:57

just had a googlewave with TS...

SazzlesOnASled · 20/12/2009 21:57

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 20/12/2009 22:09

yay hotter let me know when and where.

TwilightSleighing · 20/12/2009 22:13

DH has already fed himself at the bar so my cooking is derailed. I'm going to let him deal with DD1. So it's actually me who feels bad for skipping out on the WAVE!!!!

BTW the WAVE works wonderfully as long as the translator doesn't join. LOL! OH and now everyone can see how badly I spell!

Sazzles they are two peas in a pod. WAIT....gotta IM you back.....

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 20/12/2009 22:17
