Under what circs would you not send dd t a state school EPPM? TBH if you are confident in your current choice and circs, I wouldn't bother.
Infant schools don't seem t have open days like the seniors do (here at least)....you can contact the local schools direct and ask for info/guided tour. You also have slightly longer to apply (I have to have applied for dd1 by end October).

I am crossing everything that ds will get in as a sibling as they aren't in our catchment school, and I really don't want to have him at the school on the main rad in the opposite direction to the dds.

CantSleepWontSleep · 16/09/2009 22:25

Thanks Jas (N Herts I assume). I haven't heard from any of my friends that they've had letters yet, so I'd assumed that it wasn't just a case of me being overlooked.

EPPM - dh now had no work for 8 months, which is the main reason, but also feel it might be a bit unfair on ds to have to spend an hour in the car twice a day doing the school run. We'll see how she gets on in village, and consider moving them both to the private one (which we adore!) when ds is school aged, if work is good for dh.

Jas · 16/09/2009 22:33

Herts, can't remember a N. Not hard to find and check at some point though.

CSWS - Save your money for secondary school....

EachPeachPearMum · 16/09/2009 22:37

Jas- I suppose I am worried in case she would have to leave her current school, and places being what they are round here, then she would be without a school place, possibly for a very long time (I know of children being offered schools 3 miles away- unbelievable in a city with 300 primary schools )

School run is a nightmare though... and I feel so guilty about DS being in the car for 2.5 hours a day so I'm with you on that one csws

Jas · 16/09/2009 22:44

Unless you are going to move her in September, that could be a problem at any time though.

Why not phone round, look, apply and then refuse the place when offered if you don't need it. You may discover the perfect local state infant, love it and be offered a place....

EachPeachPearMum · 17/09/2009 02:23

Well we would need to 'get religion' for that... so not very likely! (the walking bit)

mustrunmore · 17/09/2009 07:52

Oh I cant wait til ds2 can manage the whole walk to school. We;;, he can do the distance, but not without zso many distractions that it takes about an hour

He's learnt a new fave expression... 'I dont want to', said in voice that implies this is a valid reason for nything and everything.

Lesson learnt yesterday... if you've onlt done one 5km run in about 3 weeks dues to hold and teeth probs, donr be suprised when a 5km run and 3 hours of aerbobic classes on one day is hard !

Flamesparrow · 17/09/2009 07:59

Because the rest of the time its just not hard at all....

OP posts:
mustrunmore · 17/09/2009 11:31

Its nver hard enough to make me want o give up and go for a steam instead!

Guess what we're doing? Making xmas cards

EachPeachPearMum · 17/09/2009 12:22

What happens if we do bold on here?

EachPeachPearMum · 17/09/2009 12:22

oh... nothing

Flamesparrow · 17/09/2009 18:13

Ooh bold is gone.

Stepmum is getting a new harley, and has been fiddling with dad's status saying how he loves her and wants her to have x one. I left a comment saying did he also love me and want me to have new things. She has replied saying no to buying new things, I am getting a new baby . It started out jokey, but knowing they spend a small fortune on my step sisters etc, that has hurt .

OP posts:
Flamesparrow · 17/09/2009 18:14

Why can I never just accept the situation with them and move on?

OP posts:
Frizbe · 17/09/2009 22:12

Now when you said new bike, I thought push bike, not a HARLEY tight gits for not spending owt on you {{hugs}}

Can't apply till end of Oct for school here, which is a shame as I went away all fired up to do it!

Jas, sorry you having to sort all the funeral stuff out n {{{hugs}}} Happy Belated Birthday, sorry I don't keep up much with facebook

EPPM no open days here, but you can call school to look around.

MRM at you being so tired after a mere 3 classes and a 5k run, I'll just sit down with a cup of tea and contemplate that for a minute

Waves at CSWS and Phoenix, hope you're both good

Dd1's school is lovely so I'm hoping dd2 can get in, its only infants, they then have to move upto the junior, but it's a great start for them. That been said local ejjit kids (teenage and bored) have been vandilising it this week, apparently the head caught them in the act last night and managed to see them off, but this week alone they've broken the kids play train (specially built in the playground) and burnt the gazeebo down, and the place is overlooked by houses as well

Frizbe · 17/09/2009 22:14

Oh dooo lally gran update, she rang my mum this am all worried as my auntie hadn't arrived back at home last night, mum pointed out that she'd taken auntie home, that she doesn't live with my nan anymore and hasn't for about 40 years tis not a good sign is it....they managed to get her into Dr's yesterday and they're making an appt to get her assessed......

Jas · 18/09/2009 07:41

Frizbe - Has gran been getting slowly more confused and you've noticed more now because aunt was away or is it a recent change?
If it at all sudden, make sure gp rules out infections etc, as things like utis often cause confusion and memory loss in elderly people and are easily treated.

Flame Try and let it go...you can't make other people into something they aren't. Even family. You have your own lovely family to concentrate on now. Take care.

Flamesparrow · 18/09/2009 07:52

Ooh yes - things like very bad wee infections can cause severe confusion.

The dad thing always comes back to the same - if he paid my DC half the attention he does the others, things like spending money wouldn't be an issue.

I am exhausted. Woke up at 2.45am feeling very sick with stomach and back ache. Had nice irregular aches for most of the night (plus the feeling sick), so sod all sleep. Now just left with feeling sick from tiredness.

CantSleepWontSleep · 18/09/2009 17:27

Yay - perfect flame!

mustrunmore · 18/09/2009 20:48

f#lame, thats brilliant! I'm chuffed for you

So, poll please.... do I or dont I do the 10km run I'm entered for tomo?

In favour... I want to get my medal and goody bag, I like runs, I'll feel very bad if I miss out, I've never done this course before, there's a great playarea for the kids so it'll be a day out,I also think its good for them to see me exercising in a role-model kinda thing, and I know I'll make it round eventually.

Against...I'm not fit and well out of training (only done 2 runs and 3 classes in about 3 weeks) so I'll be slow and possibly even have to walk parts , a 10km is much harder than a 5km and the people that enter are of a higher ability in general, my temporary filling fell out today so I'm kind of expecting pain at some point again, its a very hilly course, and its 2 laps of 5km so a bit demoralising second time round.

Jas · 18/09/2009 22:10

Yay Flame. Perfect timing.

mrm- no.

mustrunmore · 19/09/2009 08:37

I'm doing it.

Flamesparrow · 19/09/2009 08:46

Nutter

OP posts:
Jas · 19/09/2009 09:15

I knew you would. I was surprised you even asked an opinion.
I hope it goes ok

mustrunmore · 19/09/2009 14:54

Well I wasnt at all sure I would!
So. Done it. Very badly . Wasnt even the tooth, was just the fact that I havent been training . I finished it of course, but bloody 1hr 5 mins . Thats at least 6 mins too slow for an ok time, not even a good time. It was nice to see ds1 on the top of the climbing frame waving though!

And all that effoert for no goodie bag All we got was a schoo lbar and a medal and water. Raking through the freebies is half the fun of races!

ANyway, I saw an ad for another 10km in November, so I 'm going to look it up and see if that might br a god incentive. Rainforests. There's a 1km for kids, but ds1 not sure he wants to do it.

We hired a rowing boat for half hour after; boys loved it
