Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Bleuravin · 09/07/2009 11:44

Yippee! That's great Kali.

Hopefully things go well with the reintroduction of the marital bed too

B52s · 09/07/2009 12:14

Thanks NorthernLurker for the info on heart murmurs. Doctor wasn't too worried so I'm trying not to be. We have an appointment on August 11th at the hospital. Schulte - hope Hazel's appointment comes through soon. Wonder what they'll go through together next?

Schulte · 09/07/2009 12:20

Marriage?

Yay for Kali!

Bleuravin · 09/07/2009 12:23

Marrying them off already?!

B52s · 09/07/2009 13:04

Hazel and Sam
Sitting in a tree
K-I-S-S-I-N-G
etc

Well I hope they both come out the other side of this with nothing more to worry about.

Bleuravin · 09/07/2009 13:12

Yes, fingers crossed for everyone.

Does anyone remember what I'm supposed to be doing today? I keep thinking I'm forgetting something...

Bleuravin · 09/07/2009 14:53

So this is my new plan for my daily routine as inspired by the FlyLady and reality:
Check emails
Get self ready for day
Get Ben off to work
Dishes from living room
Dishes into dishwasher
Wipe counters
Clean a toilet
Yoga/Excercise/Walk
Write for at least 5 minutes
Laundry (see one of every other day routine)
Sweep (see one of every other day routine)
Tidy (see one of every other day routine)
Mail (see one of every other day routine)
Dishes (see one of every other day routine)
BIG TASK OF THE DAY (see one of every other day routine)

Every other day routine:
Laundry
washed OR folded and put away
Sweep
kitchen/hall floor OR living room
Tidy
living room (15min) OR bedroom (15 min)
Mail
open OR organise/put away in files
Dishes
start dishwasher OR empty dishwasher
BIG TASK
house OR personal

Once a week routine:
Vacuum stairs
Wash bed clothes
Check on garden
General pick up

I'm hoping I can live up to my expectations Does it seem reasonable? Can anyone give me any hints on certain points to make things go fast?

Kalikaroo · 09/07/2009 16:56

Bleu that sounds amazing! You're a very motivated person. Wish I could get myself sorted out somehow to do that kind of thing. Really must give myself a big kick up the ass to get my life sorted out in general really!

Bicnod · 09/07/2009 17:24

Bleu - very impressed. I have mostly been napping on the sofa with Oscar today and that's about it. I did manage to make some lemon cupcakes (mmmmmmm) but unfortunately I was coerced by myself into eating FIVE of them, and I only made 12... this is why I don't make cupcakes. Note to self - do not make cupcakes.

Bleuravin · 09/07/2009 17:25

Well I have good intentions Kali...my follow through is not always so great though but that's what makes life interesting I guess.

dawntigga · 09/07/2009 17:28

Bleu well done you! Am absolutely useless at that kind of routine but much envy admire those that can do it

ScatterBrainedTiggaxx

Bleuravin · 09/07/2009 17:34

Mmmm cupcakes...I SO know...whenever I bake I have to say to myself that I must save some for X or else they all end in my tummy and on my thighs... jiggly thighs are sweet on Meggy, not on Mommy.

PuzzleRocks · 09/07/2009 19:06

I have done some heavy duty gardening today and now my hands are really sore.

I had a lovely lunch with my brother and his girlfriend. They got very broody.

Kali - I'm so pleased for you.
And happy anniversary.

Bleu - Sounds great. It took me a while after I had DD1 but now I have a good routine going and am pretty well organised. Thinks don't take very long at all if you stay on top of them.
It really will make you feel so much better. Well done you.

Bicnod · 09/07/2009 19:48

Oh blimey. DH is currently trying to get O to go down in his crib awake...

Bicnod · 09/07/2009 20:21

...and he's still trying...

AuldAlliance · 09/07/2009 20:22

Evenin' all!
It is mayhem trying to pack up for moving house with a 3mth old baby and a 4-yr-old.
The place is a bombsite.

Boff, have finally managed to have a conversation with DH about the holidays and I fear those dates are not possible , will e-mail you. Hope your DD is OK.

Bleu, your routine looks good. I am sure that Boff the Über organiser will have some tips for keeping it all ticking over.

Bicnod, I have finally been forced to face facts: easy and fun though he is, Alex will not go to bed at night unless he is (i) on the boob or (ii) in the sling. Am trying to tell myself it's early days and doesn't matter (but am not convinced). Good luck to yr DH...

Got to go, packing boxes call!

Schulte · 09/07/2009 20:22

Errrr Bleu... I hope you don't mind, but let me give your list the Schulte treatment...

Check emails - yes defo and MN thread too. Actually, MN thread first!

Get self ready for day - yep, get DH to look after Meg while you have a leisurely shower.

Get Ben off to work - surely he can do that himself?

Dishes from living room - hmmm, get DH to deal with them in the evening?

Dishes into dishwasher - ditto

Wipe counters - ah, what for? Unless they are really filthy. Or... DH.

Clean a toilet - no no no. Toilets don't need cleaning every day. Step away from that toilet brush now.

Yoga/Excercise/Walk - walk to the local bakery to have a cup of coffee and a croissant!

Write for at least 5 minutes - why not make it an hour?

Every other day routine:
Laundry
washed OR folded and put away - if you must. So long as you don't iron it

Sweep
kitchen/hall floor OR living room - again... only if they are really filthy. Really REALLY filthy. Save the cleaning for when Meg can crawl!

Tidy
living room (15min) OR bedroom (15 min) - do NOT make your bed unless you're expecting visitors. Leaving it unmade is better because it prevents the dust mites from breeding. So I have read.

Mail
open OR organise/put away in files - unless it's exciting mail i.e. a wedding invitation or a birthday card, I'd say leave it unopened for a month or so. Filing happens once in a blue moon in this household. Or file into the bin straight away.

Dishes
start dishwasher OR empty dishwasher - Now this surprises me... starting the dishwasher takes about a millisecond? Get DH to do it.

BIG TASK
house OR personal - make it personal!

Seriously I think you're being a bit ambitious there. I have no idea how much I achieve in a day but I am certainly very good at procrastinating and delegating to DH. Tis a useful skill

Oh Christ. DD1 STILL not asleep. WTF is she doing?

Schulte · 09/07/2009 20:28

She lost her Upsy Daisy under the duvet. Ah how I hate this Upsy Daisy person.

Bicnod · 09/07/2009 20:34

Auld - I know, I'm all for the path of least resistance... but DH has promised that he will do bedtime every night until he cracks it as I had a minor hissy fit and said I don't have the energy to faff around at bedtime at the end of a day with O, not on bugger all sleep a night... I think we make life particularly difficult for ourselves as neither of us can leave him to cry, so we're doing the pick up as soon as he starts crying and put down once calm thing...

...silence in there at the moment - ooooo I'll have to eat my words and some humble pie if he's done it. Bicnod to DH: 'it won't bloody work and I'm tired and I want to eat some food and chill out for a bit before we do dreamfeed and bed', DH to Bicnod, in what was IMO a bit of a smug and superior voice: 'i'm in it for the long game', Bicnod (in full teenage strop mode) to DH: 'whatever' while flouncing off to make dinner. I am a very unreasonable person in the evenings.

Bicnod · 09/07/2009 20:35

Bloody hell. he's done it. only 50 minutes and 25 attempts apparently... think i'd better be quite nice to DH for the rest of the evening...

Bleuravin · 09/07/2009 20:36

dh is out of the house 12-14 hours a day...if I don't do it or leave it for him...well the house looks like this (not actually mine)

bumpalump · 09/07/2009 20:40

Schulte I haven't visted for a long time but you just made me laugh out loud! I remember why I used to drop in while preg now....Thank you.

Bleuravin · 09/07/2009 20:40

but it looks that bad...almost

BoffinMum · 09/07/2009 20:40

Just to announce that DD is now out of hospital. She is looking a bit pale and poorly but much happier to be at home.

I have shown her Bleu's FlyLady post and I live in hope.

Bicnod · 09/07/2009 20:42

....oop, no, O is mithering... hmmmm, its going to be a not particularly relaxing evening then...
