No climbing out of the window here yet! J can now easily manage the step out of the back door and escapes out to mess about in plant pots if he gets chance. He can also open the door into the utility room, climb down the step and then get into the garage (filled with all sorts of dangerous items) so we've had to put a bolt on that door. Lots of crying here as well if he doesn't get his own way. If he has something he isn't allowed and sees me heading over to take it away he starts screaming then in readiness.

Amberc · 06/08/2009 14:04

We've created monsters!!

pleasechange · 06/08/2009 14:57

I must say I am glad to hear that some others have babies that scream for their own way a lot!

abdnhiker · 06/08/2009 16:22

I'm sitting outside in the garden on the laptop - I love wireless, I can't believe it's taken me this long to get a laptop!

Amber that's crap news about the house - some people don't want to sell. I'm smug that the house that rejected our bid is still on the market 8 months later. I hope this guy has the same thing happen to him.

Fraser is a nightmare these days too - he just lies down and starts shrieking. And he throws things. It's such horrible behaviour that I'm a bit shocked as DS1 never was quite that violent about anything.

ktpie I think you've a right to feel upset about the job being offered at a higher salary, but don't feel undervalued. It means they've just belatedly realized how valuable you were.

Fraser's climbing everything, including on to the kitchen table which is rather scary.

And can I vote for a thread title in welsh (if Essie promises to translate it for us honestly)?

bitofadramaqueen · 06/08/2009 18:21

Amber, I did a semi intensive driving course. Am currently hungover and waiting for my dinner so will coma back and post something more comprehensive later!

PenguinProject · 06/08/2009 20:26

Doped up Penguin here. Tooth got much, much worse over last 48 hours, big swollen, can't eat or talk properly (so not all bad then!). Went to emergency dentist at Kings College where even the head dentist lady said "That looks like agony". (I was getting paranoid that I was being a dramaqueen, no offence BDQ). However, because they use a iv anaesthetic, have to go back with a chaperone and no baby in 10 days time. Apparently this iv thingy means I won't know they are taking my tooth out or even remember the procedure. How come it's not available for childbirth!? Some of you may recall I had another wisdom tooth out when we were about 20 weeks pregnant (same day as I had my scan ). That time they just yanked it out because I couldn't have any anaesthetic anyway, much more painful obviously, but easier than all this faffing about.

Sorry to be so tooth centric . Essie and all other London ladies, I really recommend Kings college if you are in any tooth pain. Bit of a wait, I was there for 90 minutes in total, but very professional and no cost for antibiotics, ibruprofen, x-rays and for seeing them.

Great house Amber, it has a pool!!! But if the sellers are that bad over an offer they might be even worse when it comes to completion. I agree that it all just seems like bad karma, esp if it smells of wee . I think Ali's right, you should go on Location, Location, Location.

Speaking of tv stars, Debs, have I missed you on tv? I'm sure it was August you thought you were going to be on.

Sybil - We have a laptop chaser here too. In fact I bought R a toy one, that he puts on his head...because whenever he comes running over to my laptop I put it on my head so he won't break it.

Amber - R thinks that DH and I cuddling or kissing is the funniest thing in the world.

June 08 - I see it, I want it and if you don't give it to me I'm gonna scream the house down?

As well as the tantrum screams, my little boy seems to be practising screaming in lots of different ways just for the fun of it. It's not fun for me.

Got email from my boss yesterday, the level above me will be put on notice of redundancy risk within the next couple of weeks. After that it'll be my turn along with my peers (incl a friend just back from mat leave).

I've forgotten what else I was going to say and who I was meant to be replying to, sorry. Think this post is probably long enough already though!

bitofadramaqueen · 06/08/2009 21:43

PP the dental stuff sounds awful - poor you I've shared my past dental woes on here before so wont bore you all with them again but suffice to say you have my sympathy!

Amber I did a semi-intensive course over 6 weeks (but had no baby to worry about). I had around 5 hours of lessons a week (2x 2hour, 1 x 1 hour). It worked really well for me and I'm so glad I learned to drive (I passed my test in 2007). Really liberating! I liked the semi-intensive route because I was driving regularly and building on the previous lesson all the time, but I also got to drive in different conditions, different times etc. Am so sorry about the house by the way! I've not had a chance to look at the link, but I'm very nosy so I will later.

Still feeling a bit wine weary here... Just been mentally spending a month's wages on the new kids/baby boden stuff, but I managed to restrain myself to a pair of trousers and a t shirt for S and got a £10 off code from MN so bonus!

ktpie thanks for letting me know that J doesn't have a bed time drink either. S still isn't taking any so I think we're just going to scrap it. He has a milk drink in the morning, has it with his cereal and always has a yoghurt each day in addition to any cheese etc that he might have so got to hope he's getting what he needs.

No words here still, but getting much more vocal. Lots of doh doh doh type sounds and oh oh oh things, and key word recognition like 'cbeebies' (scurries to the tv).

On ball pits... S got a tent for his birthday and we foolishly put some play balls in it which he loves. I'm always having to use the hoover to sook them out from under tv cabinet, bookcases etc. We bought that pop up pool Sponge that you have but haven't had any time in the garden since then. Hoping it might get an airing this w/e but if not it might get a stints as the ball pit to give us a break from having the tent in the living room!

Loving all the climbing stories. S's favourite is climbing through and under things like the chairs in the kitchen which have some good under, up and over type moves, through the handles on his wooden toddle truck walker thing and generally any other small and awkward to get into spaces. He's also a big fan of sitting down at the moment. Our living room window is almost to the floor, so he likes sitting on the window ledge. Another favourite is to sit side saddle on his wooden trike while playing with his wooden activity cube thingy.

Oh Amber you should so go for Location...! How fabulous would that be?

Can't remember what else I wanted to post so I'm off to look at Amber's link and send evil thoughts to the owners!

DebInAustria · 06/08/2009 22:04

Hi everyone, busy 2 days here, our anniversary today - 15 years so went to the spa bath with our boys. Haven't cooked for 2 days due to eating out which is great. Still no 2nd viewing
PP - programme is 25.08 at 10.30 am.
Having to boil water for drinking here at the moment which is a pita!

so, anyone decided on the new thread title - I like the , I want it one .

PenguinProject · 06/08/2009 22:48

BDQ - R has a pair of Boden baggies (ebay! ) and I love them so much.

We've got the same ball pit too - why I ever thought a ball pit would be a good idea I don't know. We've used it as a pool a few times though and I like the fact it provides some shade.

Happy anniversary Deb - 15 years is brilliant! Why are you having to boil water for drinking? (Did I miss something?) Have put your program on our family calendar!

DebInAustria · 06/08/2009 23:20

Don't really know why we have to boil the water didn't fully understand the letter but it's the whole village.

ktpie · 07/08/2009 09:39

Morning everyone,

Penguin - rubbish about the tooth, hope it gets sorted without too much more pain.
Bad news about the redundancy notice, what do you do?

No ball pool here, considered buying some and am now glad I didn't as I'm already sat in a sea of toys without balls to add to it. What a grumpy old lady I am.

What a pain having to boil your water Deb.

I'm a bit fed up as we were all meant to be going to a 24 hour bike race tomorrow but as it has been so wet we've decided it probably wouldn't be a good idea for me and J to go. The camping field will be a muddy mess in no time so me and J would effectively be tent bound. Wish he would hurry up and start walking, at least then I could put some wellies on him and let him loose in the mud, can't really let him crawl through it!

ktpie · 07/08/2009 19:59

Where is everyone? Have you started a new thread without telling me or are you all out enjoying yourselves?

PenguinProject · 07/08/2009 20:07

Just you and me KTpie!

(Whispers) I actually was kind of hoping for redundancy. I work for an investment bank and would get an ok payoff... but now it all seems real I'm not so sure. Esp as DH is a SAHD. We would probably go to NZ for 6 months or so if it happens which would be great. What happens after then, who knows? [hmmm]

poppy34 · 07/08/2009 20:24

Was just thinking same thing ktpie.

Pp can see why reality of redundancy is bit unsettling - I know I fantasised about what I would do but I am not so enthused now it might be real ( no immediate plans as did a round while I was off and wouldn't rule it out). Is tooth pain ok- long wait?

Deb happy anniversary

big vote here for I see it, I want it thread title- not so much climbing but we get meltdown if you take treasure off her. Keys are a favourite so can no longer enter or leave the house without an attmpted key grab then a siren wailing scream when she doesn't get it.

Bit tired as busy week and finding heat bit draining. Looking forward to Monday catch up!

bitofadramaqueen · 07/08/2009 20:27

That's bit exciting PP ! Why NZ?

I liked all the 'i want it' type suggestions for the new thread.

AliPalli · 07/08/2009 21:29

I've been lurking too.

Deb - happy anniversary.

PP - hope you aren't too worried about redundancy. (BDQ - PP's DH is a Kiwi.) Although I can completely see why you would be. Poppy - hope that it doesn't become a reality for you too.

James was away last night and is due to get home in the next half hour. What has been nice about being home alone is eating tea with Peter at 5.30, putting him to bed and then having a tidy kitchen and the whole evening to do what I like from 7.30 onwards. Last night I watched a trashy film "He's not that into you". Tonight I have already watched the more high brow "Three Colours Blue" in order to compensate. However, I think I enjoyed the trash more than the culture

Apart from Peter pronging a pea with his fork (which impressed me) and eating it, there really is no other news.

whinegums · 08/08/2009 10:58

Lurking here as well. Penguin, you have my dental type sympathies. My MN name sums it up for me! I'm still having problems with my gums, and will have to have some new crowns at some point.

Happy Anniversary Deb.

It looks like we may have hit lucky on the childcare front. There's a new nursery opening near us at the end of August. It looks great, the people running it have another nursery that has good ratings and reports, and they have a space. Phew.

I'm trying to replenish my work wardrobe without much success. Usually I can wear jeans and stuff to work, and from what I saw from the other people in my new place, anything goes there too, but I feel the need to bin jeans after living in them for the past year and smarten up.

Not much else to report here. Must go - B is waving a book and wants a story.

Looking forward to seeing BDQ and Viva on Monday. Have a good weekend all!

ktpie · 08/08/2009 16:11

Sorry Penguin I posted last night then wandered off! NZ sounds great. Are you on FB by the way? Think I am still missing a few people, or I'm confused with RL names!

Poppy - another key grabber here. He likes to grab them while I do up his car seat.

Ali - well done Peter for getting the pea, don't make the mistake I did and give him a whole plate of them, each one took ages for J to prong but he was determined to keep going and if I did it for him there was a tantrum.

Whinegums - good news about the nursery. I have no advice on the workwear front, at work I was always the scruffy one, wearing the same old worn out stuff day in day out, probably a good thing I'm not working now!

Right I'm going to go and make a risotto, DH is away and he hates risotto so we don't normally have it, big treat for me, haven't got any parmesan though so it could be a disaster.

DebInAustria · 08/08/2009 20:34

Where is everyone? Thanks for the anniversary wishes.

Ali - know what you mean about having the evening to yourself. We eat together but I still don't get chance to do anything until all 3 are in bed and being the holidays the boys are getting later and later. Tonight we stuck to our guns and by 8 they were all in bed so I've ironed for an hour and made a tiny dent in the ironing pile - what fun on a Saturday night.

Ktpie - risotto sounds lovely despite the lack of parmesan

Whinegums - Nursery sounds good, and how exciting to be restocking your work wardrobe - no suggestions I'm afraid, I haven't been out to work for 4 years now!

Poppy - how's your weekend?

PP - how's the tooth?

Feeling a bit as those people haven't come back for the 2nd viewing, getting fed up with keeping it tidy just in case so things are starting to go to pot now!!!

Amberc · 08/08/2009 20:51

Oh god we have had a mare with Luke. He was up all night long last night as he seems to have had the worst ever rection to the MMR/baby flu booster injection. He has a temperature of 38, his face is covered in spots, he won't eat or drink milk he has the worst cold he's had ever with green goo coming out of his nose non stop and a terrible hacking cough. Has anyone else had this? The spots aren't meant to happen unti 2 weeks they said. He's got them overnight - surely that's not right?

BTW does anyone listen to the LV advert's music and think to the last weeks of pregnancy? I do - it's always on at the mo and where I had the tv on non stop when I was waiting to pop it was also constantly on.

DebInAustria · 08/08/2009 21:40

Amber when did he have the injection? Ethan had his on Wednesday, he's been a bit off, but no spots. He's been off his food too but has still had milk.Bit of a fever - about 38 but no higher. The jab here was just mmr though , no flu jab - what's that?

poppy34 · 08/08/2009 22:01

Quick post as watching princE caspian on sky and it's ace.,.

Deb- lovely weekend- my dad was round so had lovely afternoon.

Amber- there is a thread on this somewhere on mmr reaction which is why I put it back. Will try to find it bit sorry to hear Luke suffering.

poppy34 · 08/08/2009 22:06

a bit later that symptoms came out but thread here amber (ignore using calpol debate at end) [http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/vaccinations/800203-Anyone-else-DC-got-quite-ill-after-MMR-NB-NOT]

pureeandpearls · 09/08/2009 10:45

Bloody glad I only went away for one week- it's taken me all morning to catch up!

I have missed the boat on a lot of things but wanted to say:

PP- ouch. I feel your pain xxx

Amber- perfect house. Tosser seller man person not wanting to give it to you. His loss. Definitely call Phil and Kirstie. Hope L is better this morning- what a nightmare. If in doubt, check it out (ooo, so good it could be a government slogan!)

Everyone else- hello! DH is driving me up the wall. We got back yesterday and his brother, fiance and our nephew arrie from Oz tomorrow so he's turned into psycho-Kim-and-Aggie getting the house ready. I'm trying to avoid him!

OP posts:
bitofadramaqueen · 09/08/2009 13:41

Afternoon all. Been lurking a bit. Bit grumpy as had nice day planned, weather a bit ropey and S was up screaming half the night. No idea what was wrong - no temperature, refused calpol and teething powders, couldn't be consoled by DH or I. He's not slept at all today, DH trrying to settle him without success.

Sorry, very self-centred moany post. Am however looking forward to meeting up with whinegums and viva 2mo.
