My God, Amber, I could move in and be your housekeeper. (Except I'm shit at anything domestic...) See, if I lived there, I'd never leave the house to go to soft play!
But tell us more about the poo and wee smell - I'm intrigued, because it looks all shiny and stuff inside. I was imagining a place owned by an older couple who hadn't done anything with it.

Rolf too late with that cork - you've opened some floodgates now! Allnew I relate with what you say about the newborn stage. I really can't be doing with them. Friends have young babies and I'm just not interested really but once they're past 6 months I can feel warmth. As you all know I hated having a newborn!

Penguin are you having your tooth out? My ache is the gum around another tooth, and I'm sure I had something stuck in it the other day (yuck, sorry!). I'm going at it like mad with the Corsodyl (top tip!) in the hope it goes away. And I will take you up on your Wii trial offer!

Having a total crisis about my body now. I had a bit of time this morning (thanks to Iestyn's 5.45 wake up - Amber, how do you manage?) so spent some time trying on clothes. Indeed, something has gone wrong in the last month - I'm a bit of a blob, an apple shape now. I guess it's linked to cutting down on the bfing? Thing is, I don't eat in a ridiculously bad way. But I don't get any exercise. But I'm shocked because I was normal a month ago, and now I'm a flab bucket.

And I'm hungry now - but 6am is early for breakfast.

Essie3 · 05/08/2009 10:34

I'm also terrible at thread titles.

But current thoughts are along the lines of a mega thread meet up. Abdn were you serious?

PiggyPenguin · 05/08/2009 11:11

Great house Amber but seriously huge. You will definitely need a good cleaner, I can't cope with my semi!

Essie it must be a really difficult decision re:two kids, but for what its worth I didn't find it that much harder having two than one. And the really tricky young stage is over relatively quickly. (Well ok, it takes a couple of years but after that its pretty straight forward). The thing is, you never regret having a child, but you could regret not having one for a very long time.

Well, thats what I told dh when we were discussing whether to try for J anyway!

J is better but still not eating. He tried a few things yesterday but was sick pretty much straight away so we are still on a milk diet here. Fingers crossed it will get better soon.

Essie3 · 05/08/2009 11:18

Sybil does Jamie have the same bug Iestyn had? Iestyn was fine in himself, but had a couple of mega vomiting episodes, and wasn't eating.

ktpie · 05/08/2009 11:51

Damn just deleted my half written post, it was fascinating and entertaining, unlikely I will be able to recreate it word for word so you will have to make do with this one.

BDQ - J doesn't get another drink once he has finished his dinner but he goes straight up for his bath then bed so there isn't long between last drink and bed. He seems to cope.

Essie - I may well at some point take you up on the quilting masterclass, not just yet though, made the mistake of browsing Ravelry last night and think my next project will be something like this or maybe the sheep, unlikely mine will end up anything like that!

I don't know how people cope with their DHs away a lot, Essie and everyone else who does it you have my respect.

I'm kind of glad I didn't really make a decision about when to have no 2. Not really looking forward to the first 6 months of newborn and 18 month old but I'm hoping that after that it will be a little easier, or am I deluding myself!

I'm in on the campervan! I started having ideas last night that a caravan might be nice, DH isn't so sure. Ideally we would get a canal boat. This is the first year we haven't borrowed the ILs boat for a week or so and we are really missing it. It is pretty much me and DH's perfect holiday. There isn't really anywhere sensible for J to sleep on their boat. The sort of boat we would want would start at about £40,000 so might be a while before we could afford our own.

Abdn - I fell asleep this morning after DH had gone to work and had a dream that I had gone back to work and was telling my friends about seeing my post advertised for more money than I was on and I actually woke up crying! Didn't think it had upset me that much but it has made me feel undervalued.

Amber - the house looks great, we could all come and stay hope they accept todays offer, have my fingers crossed for you. Sybil is right about the cleaner, we just moved to a much bigger house and it is permanently a tip, might be because I am a lazy bum. Yes more info on the poo and wee smell required. We once viewed a repossession that stank of cat pee but it was in a terrible state so not a surprise!

Essie - sounds like the weight could be linked to less BF. My friend warned me that she put on 2 stone when she stopped. I cleverly avoided that problem by being preg when I stopped so had something to blame any extra weight on.

Thanks for the tooth brushing tips, pretty much what I was planning. Not sure what to do about the biting because I think he thinks he is giving us a kiss, used to be nice before the teeth appeared, so feel a bit bad getting cross with him. Plus saying no doesn't seem to have an effect with anything else he does!

Got a very whingy boy today, not sure if it is post jabs, seems well but just whingy.

Right better stop there before this post gets any longer.

Amberc · 05/08/2009 12:53

Our final bid has been rejected even though he said that he wouldn't accept less than it yesterday. You would therefore think that if we offered that amount it would be accepted. I now hope that his house burns down and he doesn't get a penny the greedy tosser. Back to square one.

ktpie · 05/08/2009 13:07

Oh Amber that is rubbish news. Doesn't sound like they really want to move does it? We once viewed a house where the sellers said to us that they weren't sure if they wanted to move, errr why are we here then!
Either that or they are greedy and have deluded ideas of what they can get for it. You will find something else.

pleasechange · 05/08/2009 13:26

Oh sorry amber, that's very disappointing. It either sounds like they don't really want to move or that they now think they can get more hence moving goalposts. Either way bad karma and I'm sure you'll find something nicer

Amberc · 05/08/2009 13:58

I hope so. It now means we will definitely have to rent a property which is a pain as it means moving twice. Also there isn't much on unfurnished. Hey ho. Onwards and upwards I guess.

Essie3 · 05/08/2009 14:11

Oooohhh, ktpie, I so want that sheep blanket!! I can't knit properly though. Iestyn says 'aaaah' for sheep now, but I suppose he was genetically programmed to make sheep noises before anything else...

Amber such a bummer. Just a pile of stress you don't need.

Amberc · 05/08/2009 14:59

Luke says 'dah' for every animal, mineral or vegetable. It also means 'give me that' or 'take this item I have presented you with'. Lastly I think it can be used for 'what is that?'. The only other thing he ever says is mumumumumumumum. That definitely is for me! He did say aeroplane and hello once but he's never repeated them. I must say I was fairly shocked at aeroplane!

I have seen more houses I like on the internet but they are just a bit fursther away. I have massively limited myself by the fact I can't drive so I will have to force myself to get a move on. I did do a pretend theory test last night and for the first time ever I passed! Was thinking of doing an intensive driving course where you do the test at the end. Anyone ever done that?

ktpie · 05/08/2009 15:05

Essie - I've started on my first sheep this afternoon! Did it without looking at the picture so mine is going to be a little different. It's crochet, my nan tried to teach me when I was little but I didn't get it, was always better at knitting but I taught myself recently with a book and it's easier than I thought. Also if if falls off the hook not much unravels unlike knitting where if it falls off the needles it's a disaster, this is important when you have little helpers. Better get back to it.

Amber - good luck with finding a rental.

Essie3 · 05/08/2009 15:13

Ah now, vocabulary. If you're happy to use the term quite loosely, Iestyn has quite an extensive one.
'aaaahh' for sheep. 'boo' or 'moo' for cows. 'miaow' (actually 'iaow') for cats. 'ee aa' for donkeys. 'da' for thank you. 'dia' for pointing things out (it's from 'sbia', 'look', in Welsh.) He says Dad, Nain (grandmother) and Dai (!! he's south Walian!) for Taid, grandfather. Then...a slightly different 'iaow' for an aeroplane, usually with his hand in the air. 'iaow iaow' for speeding cars and sometimes tractors, although often they go brum too, which is the same as a raspberry. Also 'ee aa' is used for fire engines.

So, it's all to do with context. I swear this is a sign of a higher intelligence, because when are you ever going to see a donkey and a fire engine in the same place? Or a cat, aeroplane and speeding car on the same page of a book?

p.s. major omission: Mam. He says mamamama when he wants something, but never says it to me.

AliPalli · 05/08/2009 15:18

Amber - a nice house, and how annoying that they turned you down. On the plus side (for me at least) your ongoing search means that you can post more amazing properties for us to gawp at.

Hmm, the ball pit that Peter so loved on his birthday doesn't seem to be too sturdy. Peter has collapsed it and is sitting on it.

We were meant to be having the MMR today. However the nurse told me not to do it as he has just finished a course of antibiotics. I had called the surgery yesterday to check about this and they said it would be fine. She took his temp while we were there and it was up a bit (I hadn't noticed), so she is certainly right to postpone. The swab results came back and it wasn't impetigo, but some other bacteria. Anyway he was on the right a/b's and his had looks better just about.

Hmm, can't really remember what else I wanted to say. I think we better go out, as the ballpit is being ignored now, and my ankle being chewed.

Essie3 · 05/08/2009 15:34

LOL, a little ankle biter Ali! Your description of Peter has now made me think of the film Superman where the toddler lifts the giant articulated lorry...although I suppose a ball pool isn't quite on the same scale!

spongebrainmaternitypants · 05/08/2009 16:27

Hmm, interesting chat about having more children - you've put me off now! I am very lucky cos dh is home most evenings and I have a lot of 'baby' friends round here so no shortage of company. But can understand how difficult it must be to do it all alone - a day on my own at home with A and I'm going slightly mad!

Oh and lol at puree being bright enough to spot your ambivalence Essie - does that mean I wasn't?!

Amber, house was gorgeous and I'm disappointed for you, but like Ali, I love house hunting vicariously so will continue to enjoy your links .

Hi to everyone else. Better go as A has been with my mum and dad all day and I'm now playing on the PC while they're baby minding!

Amberc · 05/08/2009 16:27

Tee hee at Essie's description of Peter! I wanted to get Luke a ball pit but I know the balls would only stay in the pit for about 10 seconds. Luke got bored of the ball pit at soft play after 5 minutes.

Essie3 · 05/08/2009 21:41

Is everyone staying away because the thread is nearly running out? Someone think of a title or I'll just write June 09: O na byddai'n haf o hyd.
[FYI: 'were it still summertime', but in full cynghanedd. Hm, might work on an English cynghanedd now...]

pleasechange · 05/08/2009 22:15

essie I think that would be very apt!

AliPalli · 05/08/2009 22:41

Very tired here. The best I can think of is:

June 08 - I am the Emperor in this house, and you, Mummy, are my slave.

Amber - maybe you should apply to go on Kirsty and Phil. Just watched it and they are looking for new people. here

Essie LOL at Peter the superhero baby.

ktpie · 06/08/2009 07:32

Amber - I like that suggestion.

Here we have an amazing climbing baby, he attempts to climb up everything. I found him sat on a table in the sitting room yesterday looking very pleased with himself.

Fairly limited vocabulary here, the odd hello and last week a fairly clear 'hello Grandma' when he picked up something he thought might be a phone.

ktpie · 06/08/2009 07:33

J has just popped up behind the sofa, stood on a pile of boxes.

pleasechange · 06/08/2009 09:27

morning ktpie! We have a little climber here as well - and he usually has a bruise on his head to prove it! He even tries to climb out of the swing while it's going, which is a bit worrying

PiggyPenguin · 06/08/2009 10:45

The most apt title for J would be:

June 08 - I see it, I want it, it's mine!

The squealing if he doesn't get a phone/blackberry/laptop he spots is really painful. And he now pulls your hands away from the laptop when you try to type.

He is a climber too. During the (short) hot spell earlier in the summer I wondered into the lounge to find he had climbed onto the sofa, onto the windowsill behind, and was halfway out of an open window.

Amberc · 06/08/2009 10:54

OMG - the climbing stories - i thought Luke was bad climbing the sofa and beds! We don't really have anything else he could get up onto thankfully (yet!). Luke actually dragged Mark's hands off me when he tried to give me a cuddle so I also route for the I see it I want it it's mine!
