ooh, I was born in Kingston Hosp - lived in Surbiton & Chessington too, went to Tiffin Girls... I used to really like Kingston, especially the river when the sun was shining. Fantastic shopping too

Morning all! Will catch up properly latter. Yesterday was hell, sick DD, crying DS, incredibly grumpy DP and a complete lack of acknowledgment from anyone that I had a splitting headache and felt crap. To top it all off DP threw a complete strop in the middle of the night because DS was crying and I thought, that perhaps, since I've been getting up twice a night for the last 16 weeks, he might comfort DS...arghhhh. He's bought me a cup of tea this morning rather sheepishly, but I'm still awaiting a grovelling apology and the offer of looking after Dcs so I can have a lie in ..as if...I just think DP completely forgets what hard work it is looking after a baby sometimes, and that breast feeding is actually quite knackering and demanding. I think we're just both incredibly tired at the moment due to bugger all sleep, staying up too late every night and crazy chldren! Sorry about that complete rant, I feel mildly better now.

Off to Bury St Edmunds to see my Dad today and to take DD to a big adventure playground near his house, so fingers crossed it doesn't rain.

Hope all the sick DCs are feeling better today. Am impressed with the dedication to shopping shown on this thread. Right am off to book myself a one way ticket to Thailand make a cup o0f tea.

Elki You still up for tomorrow?

elkiedee · 20/05/2009 08:56

HKZ, yes if you and your LOs are. I'm feeling sleep deprived but find being out and about in company is better than being at home. I would send you my mobile no via Facebook but I don't know if I'll be able to get on, have real difficulties getting into it, will try later. Best of luck with the weather.

dog lovely Cat Stevens' song father & son.

Hkz sounds like DP needs a bit of a talking to! I think you're right though, they just don't get how knackering it is to BF because it looks so damn easy. My DH just told me he wishes I would express more because he likes feeding LO - very sweet, but I am not going thru all that faff just so he can have a fun 5 minutes - no, it's being stashed away for my trip to London!

stripey last night LO was really restless so we listened to white noise at simplynoise.com and it made us all sleep super deeply! We used the oscillating volume setting so it sounds like waves. Could imagine I was on a beach... Did you post a link once for white noise streaming? Would you mind posting again if you still have it? Would be nice to have a stream or something!

books hope you get back for some quality MN time later!

elkie and hkz maybe we can meet up week after next (from June 1st) when I am in London? If you're up for it.

No plans today, but already looking forwards to making chicken risotto tonight and watching the apprentice!

missjackson · 20/05/2009 09:48

spink thanks so much again for book, will be very interested. And will def have questions for you about career. Am worried that my first degree doesn't have enough psychology in it. Am off to investigate now.

rrrayray · 20/05/2009 10:43

morning all.

my goodness when am i going to have time to catch up. This thread is whizzing past.

Esme, despite screaming blue murder at the actual jabs, has been absolutely fine to date since. thank goodness. Haven't even given any Calpol, as Legs don't seem Tender and Temp a happy 36.7.

Set a new sleeping record last night- 11 hours!!!!!! Shame i was awake with throbbing boobs from about 4.30am Despite expressing before bed! Any of you who still have their babies in moses baskets in your room...... just thought i'd mention Esme's sleeping pattern changed MASSIVELY when she went into her own room and stretched out in her cot. She immediately started sleeping longer at a time.

Esme currently in Door bouncer next to her toy tub, trying to get into it by the looks of things, has both hands on it, and one leg half up. Dotty little Tot!!!

Got to dash.... nice weather here & TONNES of washing to get through!

Hope your all well & Sorry not to catch up this time! xx

juleswastink · 20/05/2009 10:51

hi

mm and hongkong

hope u both have better days today

rray - sounds good

have my relaxing day today just with bracken as dd1 @ nursery till 3pm bliss
going for a perm on sat have had @ least 4 when i was younger

missjackson · 20/05/2009 11:03

11 hours! Jaw droppingly amazing, that must be lovely for you ray! We've put munchkin down in his own room for the last 3 nights, but he still wakes up when we come to bed around 11pm. And then I bring him into our bed. I think it's so damn quiet where we live that he just hears every stair creak (wooden floors here, carpet in old place)... so today I am going to download a CD of white noise and put it on the stereo in his room and see if that helps him get past the bit where we come upstairs!

My hair is falling out! Seriously, I have thin patches around my temples, and clumps of hair on the pillow every morning. Gross and awful. Have googled it and apparently normal around 4 months, but hope it stops soon.

Just had lovely long bath and pamper session while LO lay on the floor playing with his toes and gurgling!

stripeywoollenhat · 20/05/2009 12:20

missjackson - here is a site which does downloads of hairdryer noise, which is what we used (but an mp3 of our own hairdryer) - though she is growing out of needing it now. not that she's been going to sleep very easily lately, she is quite out of sorts. i have a book called the wonder weeks and it says it's normal for her to be all 'fussy' (ie. grumpy and apt to scream her head off) at the moment, so we are bearing with it, but it's a bit wearing, really...

i seem to be losing a bit of hair at the moment but not as fast as c is... have to change her sheets all the time, and the bath is always swimming with stray hairs. i think she might actually go bald, which is almost upsetting - i know the hair will grow back but still...

so much to catch up on... spink at dp, have you let him back in the house yet...? also moose and hkz - i think you are both owed and you should let them know it...

oh, and thar she blows... best get back into appropriately servile position and prepare to be grumped at...

also, dog, that nordic kids site is evil. my poor credit card.

Hi all,

miracle of miracles. DD has gone down for an afternoon nap, whats that all about???????? Need a rest though, Zach awake from 2.30 till 4am last night, despite having a good tanking up session at 10pm. Am shattered this moning, DH got up with both of them at 6.45 to give me half an hour or so of extra sleep, was so when he went to work!

Note to all first time mums, try not to keep in contact with too many mums from your ante-natal classes, as their children all have birthdays at the same time as yours making it v.expensive around your LO's birthday and also makes organising parties a nightmare! Just spent about a tenner in Sainsburys on birthday cards alone. The week of DD's party she has 3 more to go to, 2 on the same day!!

Moose I'll happly take the caramels off your hands but trying to palm me off with the strawberry and orange??? Does anyone eat those?

Dog enjoying your choons, don't think Zach is anywhere close to being in danger of slipping down a plughole . Isla doing well, sorry you had a crap morning, DD always seems a bit boisterous at our sure-start centre too.

SAS Can you believe I am a sometime teacher of IT to year 8's!!! I mostly just tell them to turn it on and off again because I don't know any other way of fixing it, they know far more than me . I now know who to consult when I need a new outfit for some weddings in August, phoned up the credit card company for a new pin yesterday, felt a bit tired of having no money (been very good to not spend on it for 18mths) and wanted to get in on all this shopping!

HKZ sorry about your crap day and night . DH is very grumpy when sleep deprived, hates waking up in the night and is one of those competitive sleep types (always far more tired than me even though I may have been up 3-4 times Bfing ). He does get up with DD every weekend though without complaining so I will let him off his moods in the week.....for now!

MissJ and stripey welcome to the 4mth hair falling out club, see mooses post earlier for details of why this happens. Funny as I didn't find birth at all stressful this time, must just be the stress of a newborn instead

Hi to everyone else, Getting some rest now!

PatTheHammer · 20/05/2009 14:50

crap, so tired I double posted!

hongkongzoe · 20/05/2009 17:30

Miss J Sounds like a grand plan! Love the Cat Stevens song too, watched the film Rushmore again recently and it has some fab Cat Stevens sngs on it, and the faces too....

Dog Sorry you had a crap morning. DD is being a nightmare today too, she is definitely not well. I thought she was better this morning, but all she has done is moan and tantrum all day and is really cuddly (cuddles are a sure sign of illness as she is soooo independent normally). She has a temp again this evening, so now am feeling guilty for dragging her to my dad's and then round an adventure playground.

Stripey That's a geat white noise link, just used their free sample on Jude and it chilled him right out. Agree with you about Nordic Kids, I discivered it when DD was born and had to hide my credit card to stop me bankrupting us.

Pat Can sympathise with your sleep deprived night, DS managed to be wide awake 3.30- 5, then up at 6. Nowhere near sleeping thorugh the night, its really starting to get me down now, especially since I was spoilt with DD who for some reason just slept through from 12 weeks.

Am hitting a knackeredness all time high at the moment. DP still in foul mood, think we are both pretty exhausted. He's normally pretty laid back, with DD we have pretty much done the childcare 50/50 as both were flexible with work, if anything he's done more of the childcare than me. She was FF so we did one night on, one off with her. I think he's feeling a little out of it this time as I am BF. He's completely supportive of the BF, just wants to be a bit more involved. DD was also completely easy going, where as DS seems to need a lot more attention and is completely grumpy quite sensitive. Anyway am still waiting for apology from DP, he's working this eve,so he better return in a better mood.

This post has taken me 1 1/2 hours! Arghhh

Hair falling out all over the place here too, mine's gone all wispy at the front.

elkiedee · 20/05/2009 17:50

MissJackson, I'd love to meet up. How long are you in London for and will you be in Muswell Hill again?

Elkie Did you get my message on FB? DD is ill with a temp again this evening and has been miserable and a nightmare all day. Was thinking we could postpone til fri or after half term? Sorry for short notice, but prob a good idea to keep her at home in case i murder her until she gets better.
Am up for meeting with Miss J too!
