Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Evening all,

Warning: grump alert!

Am fuming, I've been feeling really rough all day today. Forced myself to go for a walk after the school run and then felt really washed out and exhausted for the rest of the day, on top of which I got a proper soaking from the torrential downpour that chose to deliver itself at precisely school run o'clock!

Well, DH has phoned a few times 'to see how I am' and I was starting to thing 'ah, isn't he sweet, he's worried about me' until 5.30 when he rang to ask if I was feeling better because he had been given a free ticket to see the blue man show tonight and thought he would go straight from work! Little so and so wasn't ringing to see if I was ok at all, he was either trying to pluck up the courage to tell me or sounding me out to see how I would react when he did.

After hearing me on the phone he decided to pop home first and was here for a grand total of 30 minutes - rushed the boys up to bed, before shoving a small box of milktray at me and running out of the door throwing the phrase 'I have no idea what time I'll be back'over his shoulder as he left!

So here I am feeling poorly, all on me lonesome but for a snotty grumpy poorly baby, a 5 year old with a bad tum, a 7 year old who 'isn't tired' (yeah right) and a dog that whines a horrible high pitched whine constantly every time DH goes out in the evening! AND I dont even like milk tray! AND it was me that heard about the blue men first and I would've liked to see them!

HARRRUMPH!

Ah Moose, hugs to you too. Do you have any chocolate in the house? Could be worse you could be stuck inside with my DH, I prefer it when he buggers off out

Oh, telly fixed last night when he got home, nothing wrong with it apparently, I'm so dense

Love the youtube dog!

Boo for evening alone MM, but LOL at the part where he shoves the small box of milk tray at you! Get on the phone to a friend and plan a night out soon, and he can stay home and babysit!

Pat cribbs is excellent for me too because of John Lewis, which is the store I would most like to be my home. It's a plan. Or the seeds of one, anyway.

Expressed today! Yey! Only got 3oz but that was just one boob. It was during his lunchtime nap and I wasn't sure when he was going to wake up, so I thought I had better leave the other one.

Boring day at the farm and feeling blurgh because I need a haircut (and a tummy tuck). Every day I mean to do some pilates, but there's always cake to eat instead something else to do.

PatTheHammer · 19/05/2009 20:37

LOL Dog! Tried a few times and then gave up, its so temperemental, also don't think it likes women, bloody mysonginistic (sp?) electrical appliances

LenniEd · 19/05/2009 20:45

4 pages help me out here - what's happened? I've got 5 minutes tops - am never going to make it.

Midwifery sounds like a fab career Dog - admirable to try and train with 3 kids too, hope you go for it.

Having fun and gorgeous weather here - hurrah! Unfortunately DS decided to wake 11pm - 1am most nights this week so far, and up at 6am at the latest. Humph! DH commented today that he doesn't get all that much milk or attention during the day - think he's got a point.

Got to go

PatTheHammer · 19/05/2009 20:59

Lenni- Gorgeous weather???? Where are you? Secretly gone off abroad??? Sorry for the crappy nights, sometimes feel like DS wakes a lot if he has had very little attention in the day

MissJ Seeds of plan duly planted, yay, John Lewis!! The toy bit is an absolute fave with DD Well done on the expressing, you guys are much more committed than me, I have always got better things to do!!! Booked my first post-natal haircut for next week, I'm such a state! V.excited now

Dog post some links if you find some good choons.

Just enjoyed some blueberries and ice-cream, need some choc now, moose fancy sending a couple of those milk tray this way????

EachPeachPearMum · 19/05/2009 21:36

Eek... no DH isn't a mner... I was talking about dp who you were all having a dingdong with... d a f t p u n k
My previous run-in was about faith schools...

DH does acknowledge the superior entertainment and wealth of knowledge to be found on mn... but he doesn't post, and only reads a thread if I force encourage him to

@Pat and the television... my father used to work for schools IT support millions of years ago (you know... when computers were the size of Stonehenge, built of stone, and ran on solar power....) and he said the first question they always asked was "Is it switched on?" frequently followed by "Yes, but is it plugged in?"

Moose those blue men look funky... am [grr] for you too!

Dog what is car?
I still haven't replaced mine... been 'doing' it for erm... well... 6 months now

Spink · 19/05/2009 21:50

thanks everyone for understanding my at dh.. he doesn't have a clue what he said, and I haven't got the energy to explain.. I don't want to rely on him to feel good about myself anyway, I know that if I can step out feeling sassy it doesn't really matter if my tum is a bit soft. I kind of think that if you feel sexy, you are sexy, so I'm not that bothered about being bigger than usual, but I need to make more of an effort to treat myself well, you know? I actually feel so much more positive about my body since having the dc's, really proud of what it has done, iykwim, even if it is a bit droopy..

dog pleased ds turned out to be ok. I would DEFINITELY be up for meeting! Pat too! We should've moved to Seaford by then so anywhere sussexy there would be great - I have no commitments (other than moving house in June so anytime suits me!

MissJ book will be in the post tomorrow - hope it helps! Exciting that you're thinking of retraining - I LOVE my job - if there is anything about clinical psychology you want to hear about I can go on for hours... I specialised in paediatrics during training (and would love to go back to it) but then worked in adult mental health and now work in clinical health (ie in a general hospital with people who have psychological difficulties associated with physical illness). so if you want to know about any of that
I used to really like yoga, especially because it was so relaxing - it would be great if I could get into it again. For now I am just struggling to find the time. I know that once I get into a routine with exercise it will be part of everyday life, but it is SO low on the list of priorities...

hkz sorry you're feeling poorly. Hope it is just a passing thing and will move on very soon

moose poor ds2 does he know that losing his curls and having short hair for a bit is a badge of honour for being so courageous and brilliant when he was poorly? We used to give kids certificates of bravery when they lost hair or had other physical changes to deal with when they were poorly.. seemed to help a little.

pat ooh you're so much healthier than me, FRUIT and ice-cream, i just had icecream. It was green&Black's though so that must be good for you, no??

moosemama · 19/05/2009 21:58

MissJ all my friends live too far away for a night out - sadly we are spread right across the country so we always have to arrange weekends rather than nights out and that ends up incorporating everybody's offspring as well. It usually ends up being like a big family party, very enjoyable but not exactly a break from the old routine iykwim.

Fortunately we have arranged 2 nights out the week before my birthday and our closest friends are coming down for the weekend but staying in a hotel as it coincides with their anniversary. We are going to see Benjamin Zephania on the Friday and Mark Thomas on the Monday. To be honest I feel so fat and unnattractive at the moment and I don't have anything to wear so am dreading it. Especially as some of DHs work colleagues and their partners, who are at least 15 years younger, gorgeous and super brainy, are coming to both evenings.

I have invested in a pair of black wide legged linen trousers and then gave up shopping as I was walking round in circles not being able to choose anything. I would really like a nice pair of wedges and a smart but casual top or jacket to got with them but that brings with it another set of problems relating to boob versus waist size! I am hopeless at shopping for myself, have looked at literally hundreds of tops and shoes and come up with nothing. I even started a thread about it a week or so ago as I got myself into such a panic. Any suggestions gratefully received.

Pat which chocs do you fancy, I have turkish delight, some weird honey thing, hazelnut praline, choc orange truffle, strawberry fondant or smooth caramel left. Actually I'm sending them all - I feel a bit bleurrgh from eating the rest of them! Give me green and blacks or lindor any day!

treedelivery · 19/05/2009 22:01

Spink - feeling your pain at dh there. Not helpfull. Not good in any way.

MissJ - so agree about the chat at playgroup. It's hard to get past that initial stuff. I never have but am crap at making friends anyway. I Want to tak about the price of a pint and fab exotic holidays [not that have much recent experience of either]

Moose - aiding and abetting [sp?] the shopping - I like it! Love the stuff you have bought.
DD due her final lot of jabs tomorrow. Not going. She has had a cough and runny nose on and off for a week or so so no way. Often have panic attacks should never had started with either of them.
Am admiring your stance on eating the choc even when you don't like. for you missing out though. Thats big treats for you then at weekend [lie in till 2pm?]

Dog - we just got a megane for £1300 and do you know, it's blooming brill. The car seats are so much easier higher up. Where are you for meet up?

Big waves to books and Lenni, HKZ, Pat and Julie and EPPM

Spink · 19/05/2009 22:04

moose - do you live anywhere near a john lewis or debenhams? They do a personal shopper service, with no pressure to buy, and apparently if you are wanting to buy an outfit (or part of one) for an occasion they can be particularly useful. Since sorting out this personal shopping trip I've looked into it in some detail you see

treedelivery · 19/05/2009 22:07

missjackson DD stands when you hold her hands or hips. and i am with you on the good intentions of doing pilates... but ya, there's cake to eat things to do.

i wish we had Monsoon here.

chefswife · 20/05/2009 05:27

aaahhh, the cross out didn't work.

EachPeachPearMum · 20/05/2009 05:57

Moose- what about bravissimo for norkage-fitting top?

sparkleandshine · 20/05/2009 07:09

@ pat - i used to be 'IT support' (i use the term loosely - it was a very small office and i was the only one who had any kind of IT skills) my fave phrase was "switch it off then switch it on again" nearly always solved the problem!

moose so it's not just my DH that does this then? He doesn't go out often but when he does I find out about 10 minutes before!

bentalls also do personal shopping, my local monsoon used to be brilliant then the lady left and the new one is rubbish (kingston). Moose I'd buy a tightish camisole in black and a monsoon shirt if this colour suits it is lovely but if not it does come in lots of colours. then you do it up at the bottom and leave open across norks.

sparkleandshine · 20/05/2009 07:16

reckon this would be good for hiding stomach and flatter norks monsoon dressy thing over black trousers...

sparkleandshine · 20/05/2009 07:19

or this

sparkleandshine · 20/05/2009 07:19

...I think I'm off to Monsoon today!!!

sparkleandshine · 20/05/2009 07:32

i like this as well
