OK, I'll start. My name is Jammy and I want to be healthy. I need to lose a lot of weight. But I'm not going to focus on that. I am going to focus on being healthy, and looking after myself. I joined the gym today, so that's a good start, right?

Foxy, I know what you mean. I feel like I need some kind of motto stamped on the back of my hand that says 'You will only feel worse about yourself if you eat this'.

Another tip from me is to take your food to the table with empty plates and serve yourself what you want, preferably a small portion so that if you must have a second helping it's not so bad.

I say that as someone who ate Green and Blacks chocolate ice cream last night as a comfort for feeling so ill. I was hoping that I would continue not to feel hungry but the bacon and scrambled eggs that I just had would beg to differ...

JammyQueenOfTheNewYear · 31/01/2009 20:02

Yay! I just took a leaf from Foxy's book, and when DH brought me a choc ice after dinner I thought for a moment and decided I was actually very full, so went and put it back in the freezer

Well done Jammy I bet that was hard. I do love a choc-ice! Good going!

JammyQueenOfTheNewYear · 05/02/2009 20:25

How are you all doing? I've been horribly good while I was away. At least I think so. Will try the scales at the weekend to see if I've done any good though.

I just found this informative.

keepingitRia · 18/02/2009 17:23

I didn't know this thread was here.

I'm Ria and I'll happily sign up to another thread where I promise I'll move the moon and then fail miserably.

I have lost approximately half a stone since I weighed in at my heaviest. I would like to lose 3 stone for now, then maybe another 3 1/2. But my immediate goal is to crack week 1 of this and to be able to fit some of the stash of next-size-down clothes that are bunging up my bedroom. (I would also like to sign up for Race for Life, but am too scared just now, need to get a few weeks into the training first)

and if I ever manage to run 5k I would like my old PE teacher to be passing when I do it

Sputnik · 18/02/2009 18:36

Right, I'm officially on this thread now.

I will return!

Ohforfoxsake · 18/02/2009 19:51

Thanks Jammy

LOL at your PE teacher witnessing your running Ria

And Sputnik, thanks I feel better for knowing I am not alone in my crapness. Am struggling to clamber back on the wagon!

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 18/02/2009 21:44

Does any one else want to do the race for life (remember it can be walked instead of running?). I see from their website that most events will allows push chairs this year - is there anywhere that a few of us can get together and do it as a group? I will state clearly at this stage however that JAMMY DOES NOT RUN!

LoveaDAISYcal · 19/02/2009 13:41

me too...although it has to be said my healthiness is being rather forced upon me

I'm going to sign up for the Race for Life. I was meant to do it last year and was booked in, but was pregnant and sick so didn't do it.

I'll do it this year, but obviously won't be close enough to do a joint event.

I'm aiming to go swimming once or twice a week, walk as much as possible, and get the Wii Fit sorted out and use it regularly.

Ohforfoxsake · 19/02/2009 14:33

I've just started training for it - I ran 2K today! But I will start my proper training tomorrow. Today was just a test.

We are in the process of signing up for it. Just going to try and get a group of us together.

LoveaDAISYcal · 19/02/2009 15:48

Well Done on the 2K foxy

keepingitRia · 19/02/2009 19:31

well done foxy.

I walked almost 3 miles with DS1 &2, DS1s friend (who had a stitch after 10 mins) and baggins in the buggy.

And I got a treadmill from freecycle so I get on with that over the weekend.(DH can't complain if I didn't pay for it can he)

Am still too scared to sign up for Race for Life, but I have looked at the dates and stuff.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 19/02/2009 20:17

Well done Foxy!

I walked 1.5 miles this morning and 2 miles this afternoon pushing jamlet in the buggy. Made it to 10000 steps on my step counter for the first time this week

Am turgid now after too much dinner but I only had half a corn muffin and not too big a portion of chilli, then loads of veg

Are you still bf Burnsie?

Well done on the 20 mins. I find it so very boring trudging away on a machine. At least at home you can watch TV!

Go on Ria, sign up! you can walk it and it sounds like you are well on track.

I did my first out door run today. I was going to do it according to my plan - which was walk for 5 mins to warm up, run for 1 min, walk for 3, repeat x3. I thought this wasn't enough, so put my Ipod on and ran/walked for each song. Got around the park, and although I had 'lead legs', it was OK.

Sunday I will do the same to the gym, do a class, same on the way back.

Also took all my measurements today, so hope to shrink before your very eyes

Ohforfoxsake · 20/02/2009 16:18

And well done Jammy too (sorry, baby pulled my hands off pooter, had to post quickly!). The meal sounds OK though. We often have chilli, but I like to use chorizo sausage in it too, keep the saturated fat content up

keepingitRia · 20/02/2009 16:31

I could walk it easily I think . Will see how things go over the next few weeks, running-wise and financially.

Have got the treadmill in the house now, just have to work out how to put it together aand I could be pounding away before bedtime

IKWYM about 'ripping him off'. DD1 decided herself that she'd had enough and I felt ripped off!

Sometimes I think it would be good to still be bfing, but LO is a fiesty madam and quite frankly I don't trust She's taken to slapping me around the face for attention

But that's not for this thread!

I went running today. I have 3.5 points left of my WW allowance. Today is good

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 20/02/2009 20:57

Well i ended up having a very healthy lunch today. The course I was on provided lunch, but it was quite odd. No sandwiches, which is the norm for our place, but lots of fried tit-bits and sausage rolls, vol-au-vents etc. But I faced the test and passed and resisted all of that so had a pile of celery and carrot batons, 4 dorito chips, and some grapes and strawberries. I had an apple on my desk and popped up to my office to get that and my manager took pity on me and gave me his banana as well.

And 2.5 miles walking plus going round and round the field near us with jamlet on her "bike"

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 20/02/2009 20:59

Am of your stamina on the cross trainer burnsi. I have to do a 100m sprint on it as part of my circuit at the gym and it gets me totally out of puff!
