Also - we've been wingeing about needing these for ages!! will pick 2 up tomorrow!!

Can just imagine it already sitting there tomorrow night with screwdriver in hand putting it all up! lol

simpson · 30/01/2009 23:04

Like the toy box and the white wardrobe.

We had one of those tables and they are good but you will have to be careful with A as the corners are quite sharp.

She won't be able to cruise round table iyswim in case she falls on it.

LuckySalem · 30/01/2009 23:06

Well I'm gonna chuck the tables in between the sofas so she shouldn't be able to get to them anyway if ya get me! Its just for us to put a drink etc on as we dont have anywhere to put them normally.

Gingeme · 30/01/2009 23:49

I have two of those lack tables the boys use them all the time. How long do you want the furniture to last? The second wardrobe looks like a better investment tbh as the first probably won't last long. Ooh I love Ikea.
We have the Gustav Klimt picture in our front room of the boy sleeping on his mother. Its so lovely.
Well happy shopping. I'm off to bed. Night all xxx

simpson · 31/01/2009 12:25

Hi all

Is end of an era here...double buggy has been relegated to shed

Just having a big blitz on house (hoovering etc) as DH is off today then we are going into town for a bite to eat and food shop.

Weather quite sunny.
Hope everyone is well....

madmouse · 31/01/2009 16:46

waahooo have just managed to turn out nine beautifully baked train carriages can't wait until they are cooled completely so i can decorate them

simpson you feeling blue about the double pushchair? wistful?

Lucky have you been to Ikea yet?

simpson · 31/01/2009 17:34

Madmouse - well done on the cakes

Are you having party tomorrow? (sorry if you have mentioned it before brain is mush )

We are having DD's party tomorrow at my mum's house.

Yes wistful that double buggy not really in use and no more babies in this house [blue]

Yes, Lucky let us know what you bought...

simpson · 31/01/2009 17:39

Ooops on [blue] meant obviously

Lilyloo · 31/01/2009 17:49

Is Lucky still lost in Ikea it's a buggar to get out of once your in there

MM oooh piccies please!!!!

Simps i know what you mean but got couple watchers on my rocking chair and bath seat so am hoping to use money for that for dd new car seat. I guess you have to look forward to how things are going to get easeir without tiny babies around.

Wow Gingeme he is really moving now , this part is really hard i think!!

We went to the Trafford centre today. Treated dc to build a bear stuff, it was really busy is madness when you think these outfits cost £10 each for bears
Got dd1 some new shoes and ds a jumper and nothing for me or dp! Looked wistfully in the shop windows of places i used to shop pre dc
M fell out of the pushchair at ELC though felt terrible. She had been sat on te floor playing with things and i just sa her on the pushchair to put a book back and she tried to stand up and fell out. She banged her head and bust her nose think she may have 2 black eyes tom!

Ok here's what I bought

gonna put it away for either xmas or 2nd bday
2 of these that i'm hoping to put under window as seats/storage but they might be too big
is VERY sturdy hence buying it
nice big deep drawers
again nice and sturdy so I can throw away the one that's about to collapse
to go with the easel obviously lol
for the obvious
gonna try this to help her sleep better

Had a lovely day with aaliyah walking around IKEA (holding my hand) exploring everything. She enjoyed playing with the toys while I looked at which wardrobe etc.

Then we went to DP's mum's pub for lunch on the way back (she was screaming and I knew I couldn't drive all the way home with that) Had a lovely breakfast for dinner then watched the first half of the MANU V EVERTON match while his family watched DD. Did 5 mins behind the bar so his sister could have a fag break. LOADS of fun

Got home and DP's in bed still as far as I knew he was going to bed when we left at 11am so I figured he'd be getting up when we got in at 7pm but he wasn't. Spoke to him about getting up and helping with the stuff out the car and just got grunted at. Come back downstairs to give DD a bottle and discovered the comp screen still on so he obviuosly went on the comp after we'd gone and is now too tired to get out of bed.

He's quizzed me on how much i've spent £120 and then winged about it.
I had a winge from him this morning cos I wouldn't change my plans for him. - Told him if he wanted to come to wake me when he got in and we'd go straight away and be back by 12 but he didn't so I figured he didn't want to come. He then winged about how he wants to go IKEA and its not fair that I'm going without him (even though I'd told him i'd sort it out with him)

Sorry for the winge but its so horrid to come home to this after a lovely day.

LuckySalem · 31/01/2009 20:13

Lily - OUCH to M. Hope she's ok.

JustKeepSwimming · 31/01/2009 20:44

Lucky - good shopping
Ignore dp he's being an *rse.
He needs to decide what his priorities are in these situations.
Great that you spent some fun time with his family though - aren't they the ones that aren't too interested normally?

we don't have any matching furniture, anywhere, all sorts of handed down/inherited/donated/bought in 2nd hand shops + the odd bit we've bought new!

In the boys room:
a new Mothercare white bed (ds1)
a new (well was for ds1) cot from M&P (ds2)
a repainted donated chest of drawers (that MIL used for DH when he was a baby )
some bookshelves we bought new 5yrs ago
a freecycled small wardrobe
an ancient sofa (we bought it new about 10yrs ago, ds1 was born on it )
a beanbag (new to us).
We will get another Mothercare bed for ds2 at some point to match the other one, so i guess we will have matching then, lol!

have PIL here, mil made a lovely dinner, yum
dh put the boys to bed
i had a snooze earlier
and now having some red wine, yum.
all good.
and been promised another lie-in tomorrow!

can't remember anything i was going to say.....

madmouse - yey on cake, hope decorating goes ok. have looked at getting those moulds before but chickened out - you are a fab cook though so worth it.
is it tomorrow you're having a party? have fun
simpson - you too

oh, we've got last minute invites to a posh ball in London on wed (bro can babysit, yey) so have tried on dressed, have one that fits fine. will wear a shawl thingie, just trying to find some nice jewellery to wear. trying ebay. any tips on where to look online? want something a little 'bling', with black and/or white.
pearls????

JustKeepSwimming · 31/01/2009 20:45

Lily - ouch for M!
it's so easy to happen.

LuckySalem · 31/01/2009 20:50

Technically we didn't need ANY of the stuff I bought - DD's clothes could have stayed on the floor and the bookcase would have done us. Could have bought cheaper stuff for DD's presents and din't need MORE storage boxes as the plastic ones we've got would have made do BUT I dont want to make do when I've saved to buy her a new wardrobe (expecting to pay £300) and can therefore buy them now.

DP seems to think I should have kept the money in case something went wrong. (cos of the economy)

LuckySalem · 31/01/2009 20:52

Yes thats the family that dont see her much. I figured that as I was going past I could call in and they did all come to her birthday.
I've layed HUGE hints that we cant afford it and even suggested that we'd walk down to meet her one day after her shift so we'll see what happens now.

simpson · 31/01/2009 21:08

Lilyloo - Hope M ok now?

Lucky - well done on the shopping. Am of the easel...want to get one for the Dcs to share when DD is a bit bigger...

Glad you had a fab day.. just ignore DP when he is like that...(easier said than done i know!!)

JKS - very of your night out.

Got DD's party tomorrow and forgot to get candles for the cake DH just gone out to late night shop...hope they have some

LuckySalem · 31/01/2009 21:10

I am ignoring him mostly but am a little that thats how I was greeted.

simpson · 31/01/2009 21:16

Especially when you come back all happy from having a nice day out with his family.

Grrr men!!

LuckySalem · 31/01/2009 21:17

YEP still had a lovely day and I really wanna get a job behind a bar now! lol Just a few hours a week but it will clash with DP's work

JustKeepSwimming · 31/01/2009 21:17

Sorry realised i repeated myself about wed - but i am excited about it

lucky - it is esp sad as you'd had a lovely day out
really i want to shake your dp sometimes, grr.

simpson - i hope you get some candles - remember you only need one

simpson · 31/01/2009 21:20

Lucky - could you not work at his mum's bar? Would your mum babysit?

JKS - he got some

Lilyloo - cheers for tip on helium balloon from Asda BTW by brother picked one up for her today

LuckySalem · 31/01/2009 21:22

I could and my mum could babysit but they live in opposite directions.

I wonder whether I could offer to help out fi they'll watch aaliyah in the bar. That way if she wants me i'm there but I still get some time to myself as chances are they'll take her out for walks etc ..... hmm do I have a plan forming here?!

simpson · 31/01/2009 21:22

JKS - forgot to say did the same as you and have switched from classic style MN to new to get purple read threads.

But does yours get the names wrong on who posted most recently? It keeps saying it was me but then shows yours/or anyone elses iyswim?

madmouse · 31/01/2009 21:32

oh lily hope martha is ok. it always happens in a public place hey

I have finished decorating the cake. there is a pic on my profile but it is hard to see, easier on facebook. lucky says it is still a bit hard to make out, but maybe if you know it is a train and 8 carriages decorate with a few hundred dolly mixtures

JKS sounds cheesy but it is really easy. it is only a four egg sponge mix (eggs butter flour sugar) and a secret called cake release from Lakeland Limited which is a fat you brush inside the mould to make sure the cakes fall out easily when done.

Nathan has in his room:
Basic cot from Babies R Us with a slightly more expensive sprung mattress
Trofast storage system from Ikea with coloured boxes
An odd cupboard which is made up of leftovers of an old desk we found in the house when we moved in (we basical removed the desk top and pushed the rest together)
An Ikea shelf unit with doors in front (cardboard in a wooden frame)as wardrobe

Had such fun with nathan today, good thing no one saw me . He was sitting on my lap facing me and I helped him pull off his socks. He then grabbed one sock and I had the other and I imitated him. Waving sock, eating sock [sorry , holding sock with teeth and pulling. He thought it was amazing

Never mind me

This time last year I was thanking God for epidurals but most of us were starting to think I would never dilate. Nathan was born 4.21am

simpson · 31/01/2009 21:43

Madmouse - have seen pic of cake on FB. Looks amazing. 2nd pic much clearer.

Lucky - sounds like a plan to me

In Molly's room we have:
mothercare cot & mattress
2nd hand chest of drawers that DH painted, rocking chair
plastic chest of drawers for wipes, cotton wool, shampoo(still not used as no hair )
adult single bed
small wardrobe
