Just while I read through.
My dad sent me this and I thought I should share

PARENT
Job Description

This is hysterical. If it had been presented this way,
I don't believe any of us would have done it!!!!

POSITION :
Mom, Mommy, Mama, Ma
Dad, Daddy, Dada, Pa, Pop

JOB DESCRIPTION :

Long term, team players needed, for challenging
permanent work in an
often chaotic environment.
Candidates must possess excellent communication
and organizational skills and be willing to work
variable hours, which will include evenings and weekends
and frequent 24 hour shifts on call.
Some overnight travel required, including trips to
primitive camping sites on rainy weekends and endless sports tournaments in far away cities!
Travel expenses not reimbursed.
Extensive courier duties also required.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

The rest of your life.
Must be willing to be hated, at least temporarily,
until someone needs $5.
Must be willing to bite tongue repeatedly.
Also, must possess the physical stamina of a
pack mule
and be able to go from zero to 60 mph in three seconds flat
in case, this time, the screams from
the backyard are not someone just crying wolf.
Must be willing to face stimulating technical challenges,
such as small gadget repair, mysteriously sluggish toilets
and stuck zippers.
Must screen phone calls, maintain calendars and
coordinate production of multiple homework projects.
Must have ability to plan and organize social gatherings
for clients of all ages and mental outlooks.
Must be willing to be indispensable one minute,
an embarrassment the next.
Must handle assembly and product safety testing of a
half million cheap, plastic toys, and battery operated devices.
Must always hope for the best but be prepared for the worst.
Must assume final, complete accountability for
the quality of the end product.
Responsibilities also include floor maintenance and
janitorial work throughout the facility.

POSSIBILITY FOR ADVANCEMENT & PROMOTION :

None.
Your job is to remain in the same position for years, without complaining, constantly retraining and updating your skills,
so that those in your charge can ultimately surpass you

PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE :

None required unfortunately..
On-the-job training offered on a continually exhausting basis.

WAGES AND COMPENSATION :

Get this! You pay them!
Offering frequent raises and bonuses.
A balloon payment is due when they turn 18 because
of the assumption that college will help them
become financially independent.
When you die, you give them whatever is left.
The oddest thing about this reverse-salary scheme is that
you actually enjoy it and wish you could only do more.

BENEFITS :

While no health or dental insurance, no pension,
no tuition reimbursement, no paid holidays and
no stock options are offered;
this job supplies limitless opportunities for personal growth, unconditional love,
and free hugs and kisses for life if you play your cards right.

Forward this on to all the PARENTS you know, in appreciation for everything they do on a daily basis,
letting them know they are appreciated
for the fabulous job they do...
or forward with love
to anyone thinking of applying for the job.
** AND A FOOTNOTE ?
THERE IS NO RETIREMENT -- EVER!!! **
If you are fortunate enough you will become grandparents!

GRANDPARENTS GET TO START OVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LuckySalem · 17/02/2009 19:44

Ok so I took my time and read through it all carefully then DD woke up and now I can't remember anything. Grrr - sorry (sheepish) so I'm just going to answer things and if it was yours WOOHOO.

About DP - Its all sorted and I was over it before I went to bed. lol

Teeth - Still none here am gobsmacked at the 15th Tooth

JKS - Sounds like a lovely time shame you missed first steps but I'm sure it'll happen again soon.

Have washed my curtains today [smug] Bet DP doesn't notice but I dont care cos I can tell

madmouse · 17/02/2009 20:29

JKS that does sound out of character for Tom.Hope he is ok.

Filly the meetup is in Coventry at a soft play area called Purple Planet close to the town centre. I do bespoke directions fro who wants them. We start around 12. Some London ladies are coming in by train at 11.28, I will be at the station as a welcome committee. I live close to Cov so I guess that makes me the host

It would be so very lovely to see you, but yeah, travelling all the way to Cov on Sabbat for pure pleasure is not really what you are supposed to do, i understand that.

LaT did Sabela walk on her new socks Glad it cheered you up

Lucky, that's a fab job description

Well i have one tiny tot here who thinks he does not need to nap now he is one. He stayed awake in the car and even refused to snuggle down on me, so he had a hard time falling asleep as he was overtired.

We did have a fab meal in pizza express at lunchtime. Nathan sat in a high chair eating pieces of my pizza and most of a jar and had a whale of a time flirting with the waitress and laughing at kids at the next table

Our lovely bedtime ritual is being changed too. Mister declines milk and does not want to cuddle until sleepy. He wants to get in his cot, wide awake, roll on his side, talk to himself and fall asleep in three minutes. I guess I should be grateful. But i feel a little lonely

AngeChica · 17/02/2009 20:31

LOL Lucky .

Sounds like a fab weekend JKS.

Still no words here.

DS's molars are coming through (no's 9-12). I know it's not supposed to be related but he's had a fever in the evenings for 2 days now.

I need to have a quick moan about DH as well. Is off work this week but has done nothing but study all day. Could spare 20 mins each day to tidy up and get something ready for tea really though, couldn't he!? He picked up DS from childminders last night and lay in darkened room with grizzling DS for half an hour til I got home from work. Did not have the nous to give Calpol and some milk which would have perked him up stright away. Really he hasn't got a clue.

Sorry to vent!

LuckySalem · 17/02/2009 20:31

Awww MM - I can see how that would be lonely. I've lost my dream routine again. She's gone back to wanting me out of the room to drink her milk in peace again.

I think Aaliyah really is dropping her naps now. She didn't have one yday and she only had an hour this morning (after waking up nearly 1 and 1/2 hours earlier than normal) was really cranky when it came to bedtime this evening though.

JustKeepSwimming · 18/02/2009 07:47

Morning all

Tom slept all night, woke at 5.45. That means he slept from roughly 4.20-5.45 = 13.5hrs
Seems absolutely fine this morning so don't know what it was all about
Haven't had a nappy change yet so will see....

Lucky - LOL at the job description, too true most of it!
yep 15 teeth! tom was the same, expecting the 16th soon, then a pause for a few months, then the last 4.
No signs of walking yesterday, though H was hardly awake either - 2hrs, then 4hrs sleep , then 2hrs up, then 2.5hrs sleep, then 1.5hrs up, then bedtime. still asleep now!
(effects of Mon nursery when he hardly sleeps at all)

Madmouse - aww, it is sad when they start growing up (& away). though i had a lovely snuggle with Tom on the sofa yesterday as he slept on me for a bit - made the most of it and said to DH not sure how many more times in his life he will sleep on me it was nice
MInd you H doesn't sleep on me anymore either, loves his cot & the peace and quiet, lol.

Filly - i don't know the rules, but come please come

Ange - i think lots of them have fevers with teething, runny tummies, sore bums, etc. all these things which supposedly aren't related, you know your baby though.
Silly DH, sometimes they do such silly things don't they!?!

right, have done tom's breakfast and still not posted this so best get on with it!

Lilyloo · 18/02/2009 08:52

Morning all

JKS glad you had fab time! Do you think they could be out of sorts having a routine change at weekend ?

Ange sorry about dh my sympathy me and dp still not talking from Mon!!

Lucky i love that on reading job description , no i wouldn't apply however on doing it i have to say its a job i couldnt do without well most days

Simps poor Molly who got the amber teething necklace on here ? Did it work ? What you cooking today ?

LaT at S being a 'british scruff' !!

MM ahh double edged sword , well done on him doing it on his own but the bedtime cuddles are so lovely!!

Filly would be lovely if you can come , MM directions great! Hoping they will get me there.

Mrs M sorry no ideas on stopping grinding teeth, think its just one of them things, i do that!!

Went to visit my nan yesterday which dd1 loved as got loads of attention. Gave her my old 3 wheel pram which she is hopefully going to sell for me (hopefully bit of money for our jaunt down next week.)
Also took M for her feet measured she is nearly a 4 1/2 big feet takes after ds i think.
Not sure what doing today might go up to my sisters.

LaTrucha · 18/02/2009 10:18

Just popping in to say she is Spanishified . It's not too bad. I'll try and post a pic, failing that, catch up, later!

simpson · 18/02/2009 11:34

Hi all

This teething lark not fun at all

How long does it take for the tooth to cut through, seems like its been going on forever...

DD was up at 1am, 4am and DS up at 6am so shattered

Bit worried about DH too as he looks very tired and Molly's whinging/crying all the time does not help...

Had a teething poo from Hell this morning, all up back etc. Was bright red...thought it was blood at first

simpson · 18/02/2009 11:35

sorry that post was all me me me but brain too tired for personals sorry!!

LaTrucha · 18/02/2009 18:34

I can totally sympathise Simpson. The first two teeth (they are her first, aren;t they?) were absolutely hellish for Sabela - and us! Three and four were pretty bad. She now has fits and starts.

And I'm sorry to say that the first ones took two weeks to come through, so brace yourself!

Thankyou for the offers of posting! You're very kind.

Lilyloo- what did you get up to in the end?

JKS - 15 teeth! Does he do them in batches? . Sleep sounds ...erm.. confusing and tiring!

Angechica - you're welcome to the vent. I sometimes feel I can't leave Sabela without having a list of 'She cried' etc when I get back. Must say my DH is generally marvellous, though.

Madmouse - about bed time. There was a time when you would have paid good money for it though! LOL at Nathan flirting. Sabela practically flies out of her pram when she sees another child at the moment! BTW, you are quite right about not changing to fit in in Spain... at least I thought you were until I realised today that the little white overcoat that I bought her she absolutelly adores! She wouldn't let me take it off. And she kept her little hat on too (you see, I'm too embarrased to call it a bonnet - which it is).

Lucky - Can you believe my HV gave me that list before Sabela was even born!

I realise that when I went shopping for the first friend of mine who had a baby, I was actually expecting to find things much more like the things that Spanish children wear, so I'm being a bit less uptight about it. She does look very very cute (I think)I'll ost pictures whn I can. WE're off to Ikea tomorrow! I haven't been for 6 years and I'm very excited! Sad, sad...

simpson · 18/02/2009 19:10

2 weeks!!

Yes they are her first but I think there are several coming though at the same time...she would not let me look today.

Her eating is not too good either which is a first for her too

Oh well...this too shall pass

Glad you got some nice stuff for Sabela...

What are you buying in Ikea tomorrow??

Lilyloo - We made some lovely fairy cakes but DS lost interest in the icing part

They made the house smell nice and homely

JKS - How was Tom today? I have to 2 really shocking nappies poo like water sorry TMI and her bum is red raw now

LaTrucha · 18/02/2009 19:21

Oo .. anything I fancy!

I only said thsat because I was in a state of total exhaustion and bewilderment, thinking, 'It can't be going on this long, can it?'. If shes not letting you look, they're nearly there, if she's anything like sabela.

simpson · 18/02/2009 19:23

i hope they are nearly through...she has eaten very little for the last couple of days...

At least DH is off work tomorrow...then on Friday DD has her booster injection, poor love!!

JustKeepSwimming · 18/02/2009 19:38

Simps - poor DD maybe it's worse for girls? neither DS has really been bothered, a bit of teetha occasionally and that's it.
the boys have both had yukky poos today, DS2 smelt the bedroom out this morning, had to open the window to get some fresh air in!!
Keep going with the sudocream & teething stuff and hope it passes soon.

LaT - look forward to photos
We are off to Lakeside Ikea tomorrow too!
Getting some furniture for currently un-rented flat, hiring a van and everything! boys in nursery for an extra day to let us get on with it. on a timescale though as we have to make it back to nursery to get them before 6.
DS2 has done the teeth in batches:
1-8 25wks-30wks
9-12 43-49wks
13-15 54-55wks (12.5mo-ish)
& 16 soon i'm sure.

Lily - you may be right about change of routine - though i did leave notes
Both boys on normal schedules today.
Hope you & DP have made up.....
(btw not sure about the whole DS at footie thing, i would be tempted not to let him go, make DP go anyway and maybe it will sink in with DS? sorry if you've already covered it)
Is there a way to measure feet without going to the shoe shop?

right, off out to Nando's soon with other mums from the bf group i used to go too (may go to again).
yum

Lilyloo · 18/02/2009 20:18

JKS i think there is a down load for measuring their feet ?
Maybe ask on here ?
Have lovely evening. Not really made up but he has bought me some wine and a bar of choc... will accept graciously but am going to have good talk tom am still really cross how he was with the kids.
He is definately not going on Sun just not sure whether to leave him at home or take him and leave him on sidelines ?? Dp still going either way.

LaT post pics .........

Simps so sorry she is having it tough. Could it be because she hasnt had any yet? DD has been pretty ok with hers has quite a few now though. Thinking another one coming as awful nappies today too.
Hope dh is ok too ... are you worried signs showing from before ?
Lol at J getting bored at the icing bit thats the best.
I ended up going visiting my bf who just got her new house so bought her some pressies and called up for an hour. Then dancing this evening.
And cross with ds again as he lost a game for his ds

No plans for tom. Have got surveyor coming round as changing our mortgage need to take dd for hair cut too.

OP posts:
simpson · 18/02/2009 20:39

Lilyloo - DS getting his hair cut tomorrow too.

Think DH is ok but I just worry as he really has to get a good nights sleep as meds make him so tired and DD was up lots...oh well....

Glad you and DP sorting things out.

JKS - I posted on a thread recently about shoe measure thingies and apparently you can buy the clarks one on e bay or start rite sell one on their web page....

LuckySalem · 18/02/2009 20:44

Just a quick msg from me cos DP is off for a week and a half from tonight. I have glanced through but we're going to bed now so no time to try to remember.

Dont talk too much and if you do get to a new thread make sure you put the link here so I can find you again.

If I dont speak to you before then I'll see you all on the 28th

Lilyloo · 18/02/2009 21:19

Wpw Lucky some serious us time hope you change the sheets after all that time

OP posts:
simpson · 19/02/2009 12:21

Wow Lucky you will be gone for ages!! Hope you will miss us!!

Well DD seems a bit better today but still can't look in her mouth to see if it has broken through the skin...

Of out to town later to buy myself an outfit for my Grandmother's 90th party on Sat.

DH taking DS for haircut later too....

Have a good day, all!!

LaTrucha · 19/02/2009 16:55

HI all - a fairly uneventful trip to Ikea, apart from Sabela vomiting copiously all over herself, me and the carseat on the way there. I guess she gets travel sick. I managed to spend more than I though on things I don't really need, so a spot-on Ikea experience.

We're all very quiet on here at the moment. Whassup?

JustKeepSwimming · 19/02/2009 17:36

evenin' all

been to Ikea, un-rented flat and home again. boys been at nursery. dh & i knackered. but we did everything we needed to do and have some good photos for DH to use on the lettings website.

Lily - i will google and see what i can find. we may brave town at the weekend, or not...
How old is DS? he seems to be going through a tricky age if he stands on the sidelines he may throw a wobbly at not being allowed to play, dp may feel sorry for him and give in, or end up rowing with him again. i would keep him home, then any wobbly will be in private and not embarrass dp and put him in such a bad mood again. just my opinion.
are you reducing your mortgage? i hope so. ours is fixed rate, boo hiss. though the rented one is variable and has gone down which is great

Simps - hope DD better today/tonight. will try to avoid buying more stuff if i can help it!! but will look.

Lucky - wow, that's a long time off for dp, have fun

LaT - it's easy to do that in Ikea, we did on Monday but were good today, on a mission and focused. Hope S ok afterwards.

tis quiet on here today, easy for me to catch up.
Had a lovely meal out last night with other mums, chicken burger & chips will see if all the furniture moving today has cancelled it out when i get on the Wii later.

right, more collapsing on sofa needed!

simpson · 19/02/2009 18:03

Hi all

I agree its very quiet on here ATM

DD just gone to bed

She has not been too bad today and I got quite a lot done....

DS had his hair cut and looks much neater

Lots of injections tomorrow

DS got pre school booster and DD got hibb booster.

DS having his first happy meal as a treat afterwards then we are meeting my brother and his girlfriend.

My brother is going to study in Poland for 4mths and his girlfriends visa has expired so she has to leave the country (is from NZ) so they will be having massive goodbye to everyone next week. So trying to see him when I can!!

LaT - have you posted ant pics of Sabela in new clothes yet??

simpson · 19/02/2009 18:45

Guys, check out nathan with the noodle on FB!!

Hope you don't mind me directing people there madmouse...Tis sooo funny

We have a noodle killer!!

Lilyloo · 19/02/2009 19:26

Evening all tis very quiet

He is nearly 7 JKS apparantly is quite a hormonal time for boys. I guess your right will keep him at home i dont think he would carry on tbh at the side of the pitch but who knows he very emotional at the moment.
We geeting a mortgage with dp bank so he getting good staff discount. We have fixed currently so will have to pay redemption penalty but still worth it as saving quite a lot.
Glad you managed to have successful trip to Ikea.

Simps hope tom is ok dont envy you of that one! M had her first McD today well shared some of dd and ds.

LaT yep sounds like a normal trip to Ikea.

Had lazy day here going to soft play with dd's tom though!
