Dear All

sorry sorry sorry not been on for a bit but its been manic. Am properly back at work doing a case in east london which is 1hour drive each way plus bit crazy to get charlie form nursery. Plus morning sickness - now seems to have gone hoorah not the 9 months i had with charlie . Frankly no time for posting messages or duplo.

Charlie I think looks like she is aboutto cut 1st tooth!!! Am I the last one with no teeth?

Charlie a proper little monkey and learnt to crawl a week before her 1st birthday - daddy put a cheese and onion crisp at the other end of her mat and she crawled all the way to get it and eat it. However in the space of 3 weeks she is now crawling a rapid speeds, into absolutely anything pulling herself up to stand taking little steps to things and today was actually trying to lift a leg to pull herself up on to the settee.

Main thing here though is words has learnt to give and take things and thankyou is the word of the week. Cute .

Not sure whether i can do 28th yet lots going on here with dh relatives extremely ill so everything up in the air.

Just past the lafway point now with number 2 - seems veru mad indeed. Mrs mc you must only have a couple of months left

Anyway toodle pip for now will try to be better

Lilyloo · 16/02/2009 20:20

Wow Nicky you sound busy. Well done to Charlie on the talking. We just have pointing and an 'uuh' to accompany it!

LaT poor Sabela what will she make of being 'spanishified'

As for dp he came home , had mood cause i took dp to football. Have ignored him he has taken himself off to other room. Cant be bothered and quite frankly sick of it all being about him!
Neither of us are at all tired

Sounds oh so familiar Lily! That baby is going to wear a damn bow and look demure if it kills me. Not sur ehow it's going to go with her cheeky grin.

Nicky - we have only a cople of words, but round our place 'ana' means I want that. ANd we hear it quite a lot!

Good point too. When are you due MrsMc?

Lilyloo · 16/02/2009 21:10

Lol LaT i definately could not do demure with M so good luck

Nicky - Still no teeth here.

No bedtime of our dreams yet but she is getting there.

Is anyone else LO's cutting out their daytime nap? I really dont want to lose this as she's getting grouchy at around 5pm and thats not fun.

Spent the day at my mums today - nothing exciting to report I'm afraid.

JustKeepSwimming · 16/02/2009 21:25

Really quick hello as i'm off to bed.
I'm back, had a lovely child-free time & got a roast cooked for me by MIL on my return

Hope everyone is ok, LaT - love the 'spanishification' plans....

speak properly tomorrow

simpson · 16/02/2009 21:37

Hi all

Nicky - still no teeth here yet but they are almost through at the top...reckon there are about 4 or 5 on their way..

New word of the day is nana for banana...very sweet!!

She still crawls very slowly but is starting to get up onto her knees holding on to things...

Had a good afternoon at a friends house who Dcs are the same age as DS. He was soooo tired when we got back he fell asleep on the sofa after tea and had to be carried to bed!!

No real plans tomorrow with both Dcs all day but DS wants to make fairy cakes so may do that. DD may get to have one if she is lucky....

LaT - have to laugh at the spanish babies little bonnets etc...Molly would go mad trying to rip it off her head!!

LuckySalem · 16/02/2009 21:39

Simps - Its bugging me too - We normally go to Babyclub but with it being half term they're closed.

Not going to soft play/swimming which are my other two fail safes cos they'll be packed.

Am thinking of going sealife centre but DP wants us to do anything "new" as a family so am very unsure what to do.

simpson · 16/02/2009 21:53

Lucky - i normally go to toddler group with DD tomorrow which is closed too. DH working all week. Grrr...

Going to take DCs to garden centre one day to look at fish etc

And on friday they both have injections then may treat DS to his first Happy Meal afterwards!!

Other than that....a bit stumped as to what to do..

madmouse · 16/02/2009 21:59

same here with half term. soft play definitely a no-no with baby who cannot yet crawl. Too many wild tots.

Nicky hello, do try to come to meetup please!
lol at cheese and onion crisp as incentive for crawling.

jks you cannot stay away for ages then just come on for 1 minute. details!

LaT I am feeling sorry for Sabela. You are taking integration a little bit too seriously . She's a no-frills kinda gal. Reassure her that the socks have NO frills. Hope they bloody well turn up soon!

Nathan has a teensy bit of a temperature and i am freaking straight away. Silly cow. He has eaten lots and is ever so happy. Probably time for the next tooth although no telltale lumps. He has the top two and bottom two which ones are next?

simpson · 16/02/2009 22:10

Madmouse - that is the only thing that makes me freak out is a LO with a temp.

When DS knocked his tooth out and lots of blood, kept calm etc..

Hope he is ok....

Think the next teeth are the top side ones (the pointy teeth), next to the front ones iyswim...however they seem to be the teeth Molly is getting first

LuckySalem · 16/02/2009 22:19

MM - Simps is right - its the next ones across and they keep working like that apparently But as simps says different children do differnt things! lol

Bit annoyed with DP but only a bit. He took Aaliyah down this morning to give me a lie in (as a favour ) DD made a HUGE mess in the living room ALL toys thrown around the room.
Kitchen was already abit messy as we hadn't put the dishes through the dishwasher last night.
Been at mums all day came home to exact same mess as was here when we left (and some more) Took me half hour to clean it all and that included the cooker top/sideboards/sink/brush and mop both rooms.

So why couldn't he have had a quick nip round before he went to bed?

Anyways only a little annoyed...lol

madmouse · 17/02/2009 09:29

no fever here, he had a bit of a sweat at 9 that was the end of it. Maybe he had just been too busy.

He is sitting in his bumbo and i am leaving him there for 15mins, as the amount of porridge he has eaten does not bear thinking about and he needs to settle first

fillybuster · 17/02/2009 10:35

hi guys

really hard to keep up on this thread - i can only pop in every few days and, boy, do you ladies like to talk!!! yes, i know...pot, kettle, black!!

i'd love to come to the big meetup on 28th but it might be a bit tricky as its the sabbath...but can i have details (or a link to the meetup thread, if there is one?) and I'll do my best to convince dh that its what we should be doing that day!!

been very under the weather on and off for the past few weeks: have had tonsillitis twice, and now coming down with a nasty sore throat...yuk Kids are great: Tamara is doing pretty much the same as Charlie, started crawling a week before she turned 1, doing lots of talking (thank you, there, that, eli (for elephant, hiya, and her big brothers name very clearly!) and is into everything. Lots of kissing and cuddles (and she goes "aaah" when she cuddles her toys!) here, too. 4 teeth through already and the top two middle ones pushing through right now - she's a bit unsettled and doing awful teething poos in the middle of the night (and all day!) but seems to be coping ok-ish. Quite amusing, since ds didn't have any teeth at all until 14mo ! she's eating everything that ds (3.5) eats now: fishfingers, sausages, roast chicken, veg...and gets very annoyed when we don't use 'proper' cutlery (ie no baby spoons allowed!).
Lily - sorry things have been so tough, hope it eases off
Susie - v amused at 'spanishifying' your buggy!
Gingeme - enjoy your boys! V impressed at George's sleeping
MrsMc
Katie - hope you feel better soon
Lucky - enjoy your delayed valentines
Simson - hope dd gets better soon, horrid when they're ill like that, isn't it?
Madmouse - at Nathan carrying toys around - ds was like that!
MixedMama - so glad you had such a nice valentines day - and well done on the sleep training!!

OK, back to work - still hating my job but grateful to have one at the moment and really need to keep it!!
Love to all xx

JustKeepSwimming · 17/02/2009 11:35

Hey Filly

Lily - glad Dh still has a job, though probably stressful atmosphere at work.
Probably true for too may people at the mo

right so, we went to London, checked out the tenants, tidied & cleaned the flat & got a handyman in to fix some bits (the bathroom floor needed replacing, etc.) - that was the work side of things.
We also, watched lots of the rugby, ate out (curry & Mexican), ate in (Valentine's Day - prawns & steak and ben & jerry's ice-cream ) & had brother & his girlfriend round some days.
Wandered in Covent Garden & along King's Road - didn't really buy anything, just window shopped.
Went to Pret & Starbucks and had chocolate brownie/lemon drizzle cake & read the paper (even read the Daily Mail as it was there and felt more of a treat as we normally get the Telegraph which is fine but not v gossipy!).
Drank lots of yummy wine & some beers (not been into beer since getting pg with DS1), esp with the rugby.

Have not stood on the Wii Fit since getting home...

Came home & PIL had:

  • done washing, ironing & put away!
  • got a roast all ready for us for last night
  • entertained & looked after the boys brilliantly
  • taken them to playgroup on Fri & to nursery yesterday
  • managed to get enough sleep themselves, just!

Think they have gone home truly knackered....

DS1 up at 5.30 Mon & 5.45 today, not so good.
DS2 sleeping brilliantly & napping brilliantly too
(sorry to those struggling - have to say it's so worth it if you can get them so fall asleep themselves)

DH working on and off this week so hope we will get to do some family things.
Have to sort out new furniture for the flat, wanted to order Ikea stuff but one thing can't be ordered online, argh. and it won't all fit in the car.
May try and hire a van on Thurs, put boys in nursery, and get it all done on one day....
(the furniture there came with the flat and is knackered, esp the sofa - i washed & ironed the covers but they are still grey in places, yuk!).

DS2 took 2 steps while we were away & that we missed it. Hasn't done it again since.
Loves to crawl carrying something - in fact has made the skin on the back of one hand sore where he rubs it on the carpet all the time hope he gets on his feet soon then it can get better.

DS1 was sooo cute when we got back, 'Daddy & Mummy, you arrived! we are all together again!'

right, will try and keep up from now

simpson · 17/02/2009 11:36

Hi

Filly - sounds like Tamara is doing well My DS didn't have any teeth till 14mths either...

Madmouse - Molly will now not tolerate the bumbo since yesterday and is out of it in seconds!! Grrr...

She is having a nap ATM long may the peace last!!

JustKeepSwimming · 17/02/2009 14:08

H has 14 teeth now, the 'conventional' order i think is:

  • top and bottom middle 2 incisors (doesn't matter top or bottom first) (4)
  • then the 2 incisors on either side of the middle ones, giving a row of 4 top & bottom (8)
  • then the 4 pre-molars, leaving a gap between these and the incisors (12)
  • then the canines filling in the gap (16)
  • then the molars at the back (20)

The extra 4 to make 24 come after the baby teeth have fallen out and been replaced (7yrs -ish).

So H is on the canines, 2 through, 2 coming.

Lucky - i would get annoyed too tbh but blokes really don't see the world in the same way.
maybe just say before he or you go(es) to bed, the toys must be 'cleared' away, not necessarily tidied as you are setting yourself up for more work then!
we don't relax until the toys are cleared out of the way of walking at the very least

Think both boys have diarrhoea...

LaTrucha · 17/02/2009 14:42

Afternoon all!

Madmouse - I've left you a messgae through Facebook but you saved me today. Thankyou, thankyou (BTW this means that he parcel arrived. It was wonderful).

GLad the Spanishification of Sabela has tickeld you. She has resisted manfully, in that she has been 'teething' (yeah, right. I KNOW you don't want wear a bonnet!) and has kicked up a fuss both times I've taken her out today. So, she's still a little British scruff. But I HAVE arranged to go shopping by myself this evening, so.....

LOL at you all being fed up that there are no playgroups at half term. Imagine that for 6 months! (I have no right to whinge today as Madmouse has cheered me up - just thought I'd say)....

GLad Nathan's temperature went away and that the othes LOs seem well - apart from the diahorrea JKS - sorry.

Eating and drinking JKS, that's the way to do it!

Madmouse - I hope you enjoy your concert.

HAve to rush to sit with Sablea while she sleeps - we're still ignoring and accomodating working on Sabela's nap style

fillybuster · 17/02/2009 14:56

JKS So pleased you had such a good break in London. Remember that conversation we had a few months ago, when you were feeling so run down and we discussed 'letting' your ILS do a bit more for you and the boys??? I'm delighted to hear it went so well for all concerned...now you just have to give yourself permission to do that again for another weekend with dh, possibly even to somewhere other than London ...but you do probably need to give your ILs a chance to recover first!! Glad to hear Tom is sleeping so well....Henry will get there in in his own good time....
Hope the diarrhoea goes away soon...yuk....!

JustKeepSwimming · 17/02/2009 15:06

Diarrhoea not too bad but DH told me DS2 had a horrid nappy this morning - meant him actually putting washing on before i got up
then ds1 had a yukky nappy after lunch so think they've both got something... they seem fine though.

Filly - i know, you were so right
Plan is to let DH take both boys to PILs for odd weekend and leave me here so i can chill in my own bed (always sleep better here) and get on with odd jobs without worrying about them.
Though i have had stern words with DH about the safety aspects of PILs house & garden...
Have 6 days in Bermuda in June without the boys for brother's wedding coming up
(have to shift last stone before then though)

LaT - you made me think, half-terms & holidays are odd without pre-sch & playgroups, but 6 months...feel for you.
could you totally buck tradition and go and knock on the neighbour-with-baby's door?
Either be bold as brass (they'll let you, you're English!) and invite yourself in or get her round to yours but don't take no for an answer....
I would go nuts living with my PIL - and they are fab as the weekend shows.

waiting for DH to come in so DS2 can nap, he can work at home & ds1 and I can go and collect a chair for DS1.
Gingeme - inspired by your 2 Lomsk (pod) chairs, i decided to buy one from Ikea, then found a local one for sale on eBay and got it for less than half-price (17.50)! Think ds1 will love it
Hope your house not too manic with all your boys

JustKeepSwimming · 17/02/2009 15:10

Oh, and had a quick feel, H now has his 15th tooth through

simpson · 17/02/2009 16:04

JKS - glad you had a good time away.

Very of your Ikea bargain!!

Molly upstairs in cot currently refusing to sleep settling herself!!

Spent a small fortune on ingredients/utensils for tomorrows cooking session with DS.

LaT - glad MM cheered you up!! Anything you need/miss desperately I don't mind posting over...

JustKeepSwimming · 17/02/2009 16:53

Just been to collect it Simpson

DS1 fell asleep in the car on the way back, was up too early this morning & may not be 100% either, so letting him nap on the sofa for a bit...

DS2 asleep too.
Dh making hot chocolate.

should do something useful while peace reigns....

(oh and me too LaT - will post whatever's required to give you a smiley day )

simpson · 17/02/2009 17:25

Hope they feel better soon JKS.

DD's teeth giving her a really bad time. She was inconsolable just now, crying so much no noise coming out

Nurofen seems to have done the trick and she is happily scribbling on DS's etch a sketch

JustKeepSwimming · 17/02/2009 19:11

Thanks Simps - hope DD stays ok.

DS1 wouldn't wake for tea, just cried if we tried to do anything with him, gave him some neurofen too, he slept some more on the sofa, i took him up to bed at 6.
H had a bath and dh put him to bed, no stirring from T.
Hope he's ok tomorrow...

Wii Fit - still 9,5, no change from my few days away, yey!!
All that cleaning & tidying up must have balanced out the beer & mexican!
