Lol MrsMcJnr I realy don't think of it like that. Ive always wanted a big family. My Mum actualy thought I was going to follow in both my aunts foot steps and have 9 but I don't think so somehow.
Luck love the colour. Very pink! I don't often see that colour You are clever
Rubysmum poor love having Reubella. I take it she didn't have her BCG? We were talking about that today. I guess its only offered in areas that a rife with it. All my 3 had theirs when they were born.
Oh yes Simpson the boys went to bed just after you left. George only slept for about an hour but was pretty warm when he woke. Due to his jabs me thinks. We had to wake Edward at 5.30 for dinner but he went down ok at 7.30
Lillyloo we're used to hectic in this house. Best way to be I think though the peace at 7.30 is welcome I can tell you
Sorry mm can't come I'm afraid DH working but I hope you all have a great time. Look forward to the photos
Off to bed soon. Going to be painting the kitchen tommorrow. New blind too. Can't wait.
Night all xxx

madmouse · 11/02/2009 23:09

Lily we refuse to do Valentines, boring hey, but it is so commercial

ginge made me laugh to read that George does not eat much breakfast. Do you know how much Nathan weighs? 15lb5!!!!!!Well the way he has been eating since hopefully a bit closer to 16lb but he is a complete titch. But eats like a horse.

Lucky why are you so scared of mmr?

MamaMaiasaura · 11/02/2009 23:11

Hi, been bad again. Love the thread title. Ds2 keep snicking washing off the airer and running off with his brithers boxers on his head! lol.

Will come back very soon and read up, but need sleep. Am taking clomid again woo hoo.

mixedmamameansbusiness · 12/02/2009 08:42

morning all....

ohhh valentines day... i think my mum may pick up the kids on sat and have them at hers for the day and we might go to the cinema or something... we dont make a huge effort altho DH did come home the other night and tell me he has left £100 for me in the bedroom to go and get my hair done as i mentioned getting some low lights etc the other day. we went to see slumdog millionaire the other week and it was fab.. if you havent seen it i def recommend. the plus point of v day is that i will def get the casting vote on the film and i want to see the curious case of benjamin button. going the other week made me realise how much i miss the cinema, but it is bloodyexpensive isnt it.

MrsMcJnr · 12/02/2009 09:18

Valentine's is always a bit forgotten here because DH's birthday is 13 Feb. I thought 29 Dec was a bad day for a b'day but 13 Feb is worse, there is so much hype for Valentine's and it's hard to get a table for dinner. We are having a Lebanese meal tonight after we have seen the Dr as my folks are coming over for dinner tomorrow night and Sat night we have friends arriving around 10pm from Scotland so no time to do anything that night I remember last year, DS was 3 weeks old and I made DH a card from old card, tin foil and coloured tissue paper think we had a lovely M&S meal, what I would do to go to M&S food hall now!

LaTrucha · 12/02/2009 09:53

Lucky - looks great.

Mixedmama -
I did think that golf might be good as it it outside - for activity - but not contained liek a gym so it would cut down on your dad's fear factor.

MadMouse - Sabela seems to eat much more than some other babies but she's still a titch! It doesn't seem to make sense, does it?

Awen - congratualtions on TTC

Mixedmam - sounds like DH is making a good effort there!

MrsMc - you REALLY miss M+S don't you? I must confess to checking all the big department stores last night ot see if they deliver abroad. They don't. [sad

Lily - congratulations on the steps. I didn't realise M was small. You certainly don;t seem to fret abou tit as much as I do / did! I hope you can wangle some time to yourself. We have had various plans, but so far I have been swimming once by myself and shopping maybe three times since Sabela was born. I remember I felt like I was walking on air on the way back from the swimming pool. There was a plan for me to go everyday while I was here, but it seems to have evaporated.

We don't do anything for Valentine's either as we both hate the commercialism. It IS the 6th anniversary of our first cup of coffee together on the 13th though, so we're going out for hot chocolate and churros (quite like doughnuts but in long tiwsts) by the sea on Friday morning.

simpson · 12/02/2009 11:59

Nothing happening for V day here either....far too pricey & crowded for me!!

Just got back from hosp where it went ok (why are receptionists always rude?!) DD has dropped to the 25th centile for weight and weighs 18lbs 6 so need to keep an eye on it but not too worried iyswim.

I have to try her with some egg but it has to be something that has got egg in it so it is not so strong iygwim. So any ideas?? Something like a cake but can't have soya or milk in...

Also dietician said it will be much easier if I can get Molly feeding herself finger foods more as she can have sandwich although she said the bread will need to be toasted due to lack of teeth!! Also said she should be eating more high fat stuff like avocado and cooking in olive oil (which I do anyway)

She should be having neocate in her food too to get more in her and I can freeze it.

Other than that she is pleased and said her protein intake, veg intake, calcium very good.

Representative from Neocate is going to see dietician tomorrow so said she would pass on any feed back I had and then contact me...

Gingeme · 12/02/2009 12:54

Afternoon ladies.
That sounds like a positive hospital visit Simpson
Hi Awen sounds like fun in your house with your two boys. DH refuses to let ds3 wear boxers don't know why though.
LaTrucha that is so sweet that you remember the first coffee you had together the first drink we had together was a Smirnoff Ice and I had already had 2 or 3 before hand wouldn't have a clue of the date.....
Don't realy do valentines here either. We buy a card for eachother but thats about it. I have in fact got a realy nice one from moonpig.com. Our names written in the sand
Just having a lunch break from painting the kitchen. Nearly done as were doing the same colour. DH put a new plug socket in and were putting a blind up and getting rid of the curtains.
Well better go no peace for the wicked here you know

Gingeme · 12/02/2009 12:55

Wow theres alot of smileys there aren't there?

Lilyloo · 12/02/2009 14:11

Ohh MrsM they are doing a £20 m&s meal deal for valentines thinking i might do that for us , lazy i know but hey ho!
Other than that i made a card with M at toddler group for her daddy and dd came home with one today and ds will probably too.
Would love to go out but doubt it!

Really would like to see slumdog MM after its reviews.

Simps could you not do eggy bread ? Makes the bread cripsier just use small bit of egg or would that be too much ?

LaT not really sure how small she is she was always under the average line but climbing on the centiles. TBH haven't had her weighed but really could do with taking her.

Awen good luck!

Gingeme the card sounds lovely!

Best go dd just come back with our neighbours little boy to play!

Getting ready for half term dc off tom for teacher training. DS doing a football club next week 10-3 so dont have to worry about entertaining him!

OP posts:
MrsMcJnr · 12/02/2009 14:22

LaT - now churros y chocolate are a MASSIVE benefit of being in Spain! it has to be the really thick stuff though none of that cola coa stuff

Gingeme - ah that card sounds really nice

Lily - saw the M&S ad for the VD meal last
night on TV, very envious! there do seem to be good deals on stawberries here, a punnet for a euro as a VD treat!

Simpson - a friend of mine whose baby had a very violent reaction to egg when she was 6 months old was advised by the Dr to give her cake at a year as it is a lighter way to try egg. Guess that might be tricky for you though given that most cakes have other dairy in them too

AngeChica · 12/02/2009 14:57

Not keen on churros but a cafe I know in Bcn used to do these amazing suizos which were like really thick hot chocolate sauce with cream on the top. Truly wicked

I remeber being excited to find Branston pickle, Marmite etc. in the deli section of El Corte Ingles - maybe you can find some treats in there if you have one nearby LaT & MrsMc?

DH has been away since Tues at a conference. Managed OK yesterday as DS was at childminders so I worked from home and could get the dog out after dropping him off. But today it's snowing hard and DH not back til late. I think the dog will have to miss his afternoon walk at this rate. We've missed out on most of the snow til now. I do have to venture out to get milk for DS though!

Maybe dairy free section in some big supermarket will do a cake that has egg in but no dairy? Or health food shop?

I feel romance is fairly dormant if not dead in our house these days (sigh). DS night time faffing playing a big part.

Well night garden over (DS just loves it) so am going to brave the wilds outdoors.

LaTrucha · 12/02/2009 15:20

Angechica - I can SEE an El Corte Ingles from our flat! And they do cheddar which is fab because Sabela loves it. Thst is the kind of chocolate we're going to have! How can you NOT be keen on churros, por favor? We were strictly dead in the romance department until Sabela started sleeping. Hope it gets better soon.

Simpson - I'm thinking about the egg. Tortilla is egg / no other dairy fried in olive oil but it's quite a strong taste. Sounds like a good trip, though. Sabela has always been around the 4th centile, so I'd be bloody happy at the 25th (although I know it's not the be all and end all lalalalalalalala)

MrsMc maybe that's what you can make baby out of then, chocolate and churros! Remember, when I was pg with Sabela all I could eat was Complan, ice cream and brown bread!

Gingeme - your house just sounds amazing! And the card sounds lovely too. Here's a for you.

Lilyloo- Oh don't think you have to get her weighed because of what I said! I'm just still a bit mad obsessed about weight. I like it when other people have small'uns! Sorry.

All well here. Sabela has just pointed out where her 9th tooth is coming through (though not yet). Hope that means we get some sleep tonight

simpson · 12/02/2009 19:19

Evening all

Am feeling a bit of a pants mummy this evening as DS refused tea (not ill or anything) so I didn't let him have pudding. He kept saying he was hungry but it was starting to become a habit. He will refuse/not eat much tea then fill up on yogurt/chocolate mousse

DD been very whingey today creeping around doing the mumumum. She creeps right past DH to me. grrr.

She has eaten very little today too...

LaT - 9 teeth We are still waiting for the first here, but I keep seeing flashes of white under gums...

Ange - cheers for reminding me will try sainsburys free from range tomorrow...

Lilyloo - DS likes eggy bread. Molly is still pretty tiny but long. She started at birth on 75th centile, then has been on 25th and in the last couple of weeks dropped to 9th.

Height she has always been on 25th centile.

Gingeme - Aww at the moonpig card...I chose DH's card while in queue at WHsmiths as it was the nearest to me

Mrs Mcjnr - my Grandmother is 90 on 13th Feb. Is a total nightmare taking her out for meal I agree!!

Mixed mama - bless your DH leaving you £100!! Have not been to the cinema in aaages...

Awen - good luck with TTC!! How long did it take you to get pg with DS?

Madmouse - glad Nathan's appitite back. Maybe we have swapped now as Molly not eating ATM. She doesn't even really want her milk...hoping its not to do with it now being in a cup...

JKS - when are you away? Or is it now

Lilyloo · 12/02/2009 20:15

Evening all

LaT wasn't driected at you just that i should really know what she weighs as need to think about next stage car seat etc!

DP had pretty rough news this week. They have (you prob heard on news) made/making lots of staff redundant at rbs. They have taken lots of managers in today and yesterday. He has got a call that his level of staff will be taken in tom Am doing my best to stay away from the banking anger at bonus threads!
If he looses this job we really are thinking of upping sticks and moving abroad to start again!

OP posts:
Lilyloo · 12/02/2009 20:26

Simps tough one!I always say no pudding etc if they dont eat tea but usually end up giving in later on when they say they are hungry but try and make it some cereal or fruit etc!
Iguess its hard when M does he clingy thing too. All quiet on that front here thank goodness but know how stressful that is!
Hope tom better for you.

OP posts:
simpson · 12/02/2009 20:43

lilyloo - it was horrid as DS crying saying he was still hungry but think he was just shocked that I stood firm iyswim.

I was soooo tempted to give in and give him a banana though

Oh well guess who will be hungry in the morning

Awful news about DP. Hope everything goes well tomorrow

What does he think will happen?

madmouse · 12/02/2009 21:13

Oh Lily so hoping your dp will survive this round of redundancies what a worry! Please keep us posted. I can imagine you dream of starting again abroad, but unless you have specific skills it is not a great time to do so as the recession has bitten everywhere.

Is M still in her baby car seat too? Looks like Nathan will be in it until he gets too long for it, skinnymalinks

Simpson it is entirely normal for Molly to drop a bit, she has suddenly burst into activity with sitting and crawling , but I guess she is being watched a bit more because of her dietary issues.

Nathan was 50th centile for lenght but has now dropped to the 9th (I am 5.5 dh 5.6 - and he only got that 'tall' thanks to a teenage growth spurt so a child of us never belonged on the 50th ). In terms of weight he is below the centiles. His paediatrian is supremely unconcerned. He is just doing his own thing and he is fine. Having said that he is gaining weight at the rate of knots, has been eating all day. 2 weetabix with fruit, a biscuit, 2 fromage frais, rice cake, 4/5 large jar, yogurt, another biscuit, big helping of dinner (same as us beef and tomato stew with rice), more yogurt...

Centile charts are overrated.

Lilyloo · 12/02/2009 21:15

Well done you for stanidng firm i ont think i ever have am too tired tbh to have that fight at the end of the day

He is hoping that his level will be ok ...for now... but who knows! Our neighbour has just been given redundancy package after 20+ years so anyones guess!

OP posts:
Lilyloo · 12/02/2009 21:19

MM yes she no way near outgrown her seat but she would like to be able to look around more!
I have no idea where she is on centile tbh! She eats what we do for every meal so no real idea of amount she eats either Her bowl looks pretty empty by the end but that includes the swathes on the table / highchair/ wall and floor eaten by the dog!

I think maybe go to Aus with sil! I could do my teaching and he can be a sahm dad

OP posts:
LaTrucha · 12/02/2009 21:23

Well done for standing firm Simpson - my DH tried to refuse food once. His mother just said 'fine' but then it was served up again at every meal until he gave in. And she cooked all his favourite food for his sisters to eat in the meantime. She is one tough cookie. He never tried it again. M is whining for you becaus eyou are not just a good mummy but a lovely one!

Lilyloo- I'm so sorry you are suffering all that stress. I really hope DH has good news tomorrow.

Madmouse - I agree, centile charts are overrated. One day I might even be pleased that DH we lost the red book! BTW DH has told me off because I haven't told you how happy he is about Nathan's assessment. He says he feels like he knows him and is delighted for you.

madmouse · 12/02/2009 21:26

simpson you did well with your little man, well done for standing firm

LaT bless your dh

LuckySalem · 12/02/2009 21:56

Simpson - Well done for standing firm. Even DD gets this sometimes if she refuses to even try what's on her plate she doens't get anything else till at least an hour later.

Lily - I hope your DP survives this round of terminations. Feel free to let us know.

MM - We're both short here too, Haven't had DD measured since she was around the 4 months mark. Went to get her weighed today but no HV in

Well we went to "language & play" group today and what a bore. It was a few songs which none of the kids were interested in cos they're too young and a story which again none interested in (rather play with the sand) it would have been a really nice thing if we could have got some quiet while the story was there. IYKWIM

Tonight did the same thing again and only got wingeing for about 1 min so I think we're getting there.

Dp worked last night so we've not really had a day off with him (although he did come to the play group this morning)

VAL DAY - Is getting postponed till next thurs as DP is working on it. We've decided on a Curry and a film at home.

Feeling lonely today - I think its cos DP didn't have a day off with us.

QUICK QUESTION - Its bin day tomorrow and everyone's put their bin out this evening. Now as usual I've got a extra bin bag that wont fit in my bin. AIBU to put it in next doors nearly empty bin?

madmouse · 12/02/2009 22:41

Lucky i don't have that problem - nathan never refuses anything edible . Tonight he tried to take a box of raisins to bed with him , to be honest it is the box he is trying to eat , raisins are for scattering.

I would not use neighbours bin without their consent. People can be surprisingly possesive about it, plus if the weather is bad and the collection does not come they are stuck with your waste.

LuckySalem · 12/02/2009 22:42

Ahh yeh - Didn't think of that one (none collection) will see if she's about in the morning before they come otherwise i'll wait till next time.
