why are your parents pressuring you Lucky.. my parents get annoyed everytime i go back to work esp my dad, altho they help out loads so cant complain about them.

LuckySalem · 11/02/2009 21:17

The border is Winnie the pooh too so its definatly themed. I think I'll get the wallpaper paste this weekend and try to put it up. Only thing is I KNOW DD will pull it down again! lol

MMR ok - she seems ok but doubt i'll sleep much without worrying. Am resisting the urge to go check on her every 10 mins.

LuckySalem · 11/02/2009 21:18

Cos I said we couldnt afford the £300 (and some) per person holiday as we dont' earn enough so now they think we're struggling and that I should just go back to work now cos A is old enough for nursery lol. Its ok - In one ear and out the other! lol

Lilyloo · 11/02/2009 21:18

ooh would like to do a belly dancing class MM!

Lucky i cannot see how i could ever find a job around 8-6.30 dp main hours minus the nights he then comes home and works and the nights he rings and says he has to work late was 8pm last night!

Also how would i keep up with dc extra activities ?

I feel like i am on a merry go round sometimes and would just like to step off for half an hour.

How can i ever follow my career ? Think i may have to delay it until the dc are grown up at this rate!

Oh well M did two steps at toddler group this am! Was funny as she still seems so little. Even sat at toddler group with babies from 7-9 mth she about the same size. The mums were saying wow she is an early walker!

Lily - dont worry about it then.
The only hours I could work to work around DP would be 8-12 fri - tues and no one has that at the mo so I keep telling Jobcentre no work for me and they're ok about it.

Lilyloo · 11/02/2009 21:23

Looks lovely Lucky! Hope she likes pink
The furniture looks good!

DD room is pink and purple with fairies on and she loves it! Feel that M more suited to ds room actually lol!!

OP posts:
LuckySalem · 11/02/2009 21:24

I hope she likes pink too as its gonna be a buggar to paint over. It didn't look that bad when I first painted it then it dried and but I kinda like it now!

LuckySalem · 11/02/2009 21:25

P.S - have you seen this thread? I'd be sooo with my parents if they EVER did this.

mixedmamameansbusiness · 11/02/2009 21:26

you are like me Lucky... I always say too much to parents so they always end up putting their pennies worth in... couldnt be without them tho.

Latrucha - thanks for the golf suggestion have told DB and he says he is going to speak to my dad.

Lily - your children will remember allt hose activites tho... i remember going dancing when i was younger and going to competitions and things and am so grateful my parents (my mum really as my dad worked long hours too) for taking me to them. I know that it is hard just being in mum mode allt he time and I will say again like i did the other day that i am in awe of those of you who are doing it full time.. i wish i was more like you.

mixedmamameansbusiness · 11/02/2009 21:30

Lucky I had to post and say get him now... what a liberty... why did she send him tho as it sounds like the relationship is far far from perfect. feel for her.

Lilyloo · 11/02/2009 21:30

I guess i am just finding it hard for this to be 'me' though iyswim!
Wow your damned if you do damned if you don't!

JKS talk to me again about your time away

OP posts:
mixedmamameansbusiness · 11/02/2009 21:35

Lily - your DC have lots of hobbies do you have one??? Could you get one that involved you actually leaving and going somewhere to do it.... somewhere nobody knows you as mummy IYSWIM... or is there no one to watch them?

LuckySalem · 11/02/2009 21:38

Oh lily - MM has good advice. I'm so looking forward to dissapearing once a month to have a day to myself (come rain or shine)
Maybe if you set yourself some time that he HAS to come home for (make sure its something you make a monthly/weekly payment for so he can't just not turn up without you "wasting" money.

Lilyloo · 11/02/2009 21:47

Thats a good point MM at the minute i think i am in limbo.
No longer working or studying which i have done pre and since dc.
Maybe thats what i need a specific bit of me time.
Howvever it would have to be dp having them which put s spanner in the works.
My dad doesn't really do grandchildren and my il's live too far away.
Will have to think about that one!
Thanks

LuckySalem · 11/02/2009 21:49

Do it when DP has to be there. Insist that you are having a specific time to yourself and he'll have to come home for that. One night a week is not going to hurt him.

Lilyloo · 11/02/2009 21:51

Your right LS!
I am lucky in i still have quite a good circle of friends from work etc and neighbours so i do still socialise quite a bit.
But a specific bit of me time is a good idea. now what can i do ?

OP posts:
LuckySalem · 11/02/2009 21:55

Do something you LOVE... I decided that cos I would only have a few hours a week (or once a month) that I would spend that time doing something that I LOVED.
If you think of something and think oh I'd quite like to do that then its not the right thing.

madmouse · 11/02/2009 21:56

Hi all

Jealous at the meetup but nice to have a peek at the pictures and have a preview of the big meetup.

Rubysmum do come, it is so close to you! , Fragoline how are you, are you able to come? Ginge you changed your mind yet?

Lucky you have done a fab job with Aaliyah's room beautiful. And how well is she eating with a real spoon! Nathan is nowhere ready for that, he would have someone's eye out!

Lily busy you, and I can see why you felt unsupported guess it is hard for dp to leave on time if there is pressure to stay late in the current economic climate. I had to request a new court date for an immigration hearing I am doing. The sponsor (who is bringing someone here for a visit) can't come on the day as he has a training day and does not feel safe to push for a day off. But that does not mean it is easy for you!

How's everyone else? My mind is a sieve.

All well hear, Nathan very happy except screaming at the physio, minx

Lilyloo · 11/02/2009 21:57

struggling to think guess will have to look whats on offer..

OP posts:
LuckySalem · 11/02/2009 21:59

MM - Notice I was no where near Aaliyah when she had the spoon and that in the pics you can't see the floor
DP had a heartattack when he came in and there were beans ALL OVER THE FLOOR.

mixedmamameansbusiness · 11/02/2009 22:00

agree you have to do something you really want... that is what my french clsses are for... a bit of stimulating me me me time doing something i lurrrvee.

madmouse · 11/02/2009 22:03

Lily if i am right (doubtful ) you are trained to teach and do something with special needs children? Are there no jobs for classroom assistants, maybe one-on-one with special kids. school hours, term time etc.

Lilyloo · 11/02/2009 22:06

MM that was what i pretty much did where i left.
Think i may look again come Sept when dd1 at school. Prob not teaching but a ta role.

You are right on job thing though dp bank making loads of redundancies so i know its not easy for him. His boss finding out tom whether he got a job just left him message saying if he goes it was good to work with him

Gingeme ? how fabulous to ?see? those familiar babies, what a lot of cuties! Thanks for sharing! The migraines stayed away last pregnancy luckily for me, hope my BP isn?t the issue whenever I look at your pics I say to myself ?Gingeme has 5 kids! 5 boys! What a woman!!?

Thanks JKS I know what you mean about Jade Goody, awful

Simpson ? that?s great about the milk and the cup, I wish I could have more luck with DS.

Rubysmom ? sorry to hear about your pain engaged baby already?? Mine was transverse last scan but I think she is now breech, will find out tomorrow. How many weeks are you now? German Measles, poor Ruby my Aunt was born with it because my Mum had it at the time my Gran gave birth. Nightmare.

Lucky ? hope DD is ok tonight (and you!) I?ve had to change story time after his bath and massage all DS wants is his milk and wasn?t enjoying the story so I am trying to find a more suitable slot in the day until he?s older.

Lily ? thanks I know you are right, the other Mum wouldn?t have mean to put me on a downer, she did look shattered. What an exhausting day for you!
