JKS just saw your pic, you are one glamorous mummy

JustKeepSwimming · 05/02/2009 20:15

Thanks for all the lovely comments

Oh Madmouse - try not to worry, they all get these bugs As long as he is drinking, esp that dioralyte stuff (yuk, don't know how he tolerates it!) he will be ok, and although it will take a while his eating will come back too. It's frustrating that a 'simple' bug can throw them back weeks worth of progress (whether with food or sleep or even development).
think you may get your wish about the weather.....

LaT - you are sounding so down too will look at other thread in a bit. Can't remember DS1 having that much of a reaction to the MMR, but everybody's different. Keep her dosed up on meds so you know she's not in pain. Then try to stay as near to your previous (at home) behaviour with her as poss (tricky i know with PIL about) so she keeps some sort of stability and you are predictable to her, iykwim.
The first few nights in a strange place are always pretty rubbish sleep wise with our two. makes going away hardly worth it sometimes!
(yes the hangover was worth it, thanks!)

hmm, not liking the Fern dress, though her figure is looking good i have to say.

Simpson - that's pretty awful at wilkinsons good on you walking all that way though
good news for ds about school.

Gingeme - you really need to come round here and help me declutter.....did go through the boys clothes earlier, only got rid of a few bits but tidied them up at least.
would think you would be hardened to the climbing antics by now!! ds2 is learning too, learning how to open the kitchen cupboards and pull out all the stuff in there. Esp heavy tins of beans which he then drops on the floor, narrowly missing his toes....we have a gate on the kitchen door, just need to remember to shut it more often

dh cooked some spag bol at my request, yum boys gone to sleep brilliantly - they are both in a really good phase at bedtime which is great. won't last....

watching some recorded 24 - why is it so confusing..????

LaTrucha · 05/02/2009 20:17

I have been thinking that you live in a different country than your native one Madmouse. I thought you might have some words of wisdom. I don't think it helps that I love my life in Aberystwyth so much!

I find it so horrible when Sabela is ill. I have had a major wobble aswell today! I can't help thinking she would be so much happier at home! She ate no lunch and had half a wetabix for tea. She looks really thin too. But they do change dramatically in days, I find so I'm sure that adorable little tummy of Nathan's will be back.

You're right, I do have cabin fever. I hate being stuck in all day. It doesn't help that there are no mother and baby groups to look forward to hear and there is a waiting list for baby swimming time! I thikn I might start a thread on here and see if I can find any mummies out here. Sabela loves the company of other children so much it feels horrible that she has no playmates here.

Have you got lots of support on hand for the weekend coming up? I'm sure you have, but I hope it involves people coming to see you, instead of you having to trek out.

Lilyloo · 05/02/2009 20:46

Lat i guess it's probably a culmination of everything.
Her jabs , being under the weather , the new environment (remember she hasn't had a chance to prepare for this like you and it's really hard to adjust as an adult)
I agree with JKS they do sleep very little in new places for a while and with MM if you are unhappy she will pick up on it.
Hopefully tom will be a better day for you all.
Are you miles from MrsM ?

Simpson i often wonder why they stop people. I remember when my friend won a load of marks vouchers and i got them off her was over £200. I spent them all in one go for the dc as we were going away. I can still recall knowing a security guard was following me as i piled my basket whilst pushing dd1 in her pushchair!

Lucky you haven't name changed have you there is a Salem1 about the place today ??

Does anyone know where Lucky is? This is the second day she is not on here, most unusual

JustKeepSwimming · 05/02/2009 21:19

She's not been on FB either.

Didn't say she was going away or anything?

madmouse · 05/02/2009 21:40

texted her but no response so far.

AngeChica · 05/02/2009 22:18

are you in Galicia LaT? Isn't that where your hubby is from?

www.mumabroad.com looks like a helpful site - but this is mainly the more "ex-patty" areas, which Galicia isn't of course. MrsMc may know some sites where you can perhaps try and hook up with any other expat mums in your area.

lucky sent me a message last night...

LuckySalem · 05/02/2009 22:19

oh, I AM here its just hard to get online on a weds and thurs cos DP is off work.

Just gonna catch up.

AngeChica · 05/02/2009 22:20

no i tell a lie it was Tuesday.

madmouse · 05/02/2009 22:20

as long as she is ok Ange

have just posted on AIBU thread. never again. why did I do it, should have known better. getting flamed straight away.

madmouse · 05/02/2009 22:21

Hey Lucky, you ok

You are part of the furniture, like missing the comfy sofa lol

LuckySalem · 05/02/2009 22:55

Ok all have caught up - kinda

MM - DD used to have reflux (I know its not the same but) she only stopped throwin up when we gave her about 2 spoonfuls of babyrice just before a bottle of milk. Do you think that would work for Nathan? If perhaps he had a cracker to line his stomach before the milk?
I hope he gets better soon, I'm just like you when DD is ill mainly cos I dont feel experienced enough to know if its anything to worry about.

Ange - My nan makes cards. She buys 3/4 of the same design then keeps one whole and cuts out parts of it from the other one and builds them up to make the card 3D IYKWIM. If you want me to tell you anything else let me know.

LaT - I have read on MN that a few of the LO's have had a reaction to the MMR, Fever and general unusualness for 2/3 days then all ok. I read up on it cos I knew I'd panic if anything like that happened what with all the bad press it had.

Well today we put up the wardrobe and chest of drawers in aaliyah's room. All thats in there at the mo is chest of drawers, wardrobe and cot and its already pretty full - still got 2 toyboxes, wicker toy box, chest of drawers and all her knick knacks - just dont know where i'm going to fit it all lol

Having an "i'm annoyed" day today with DP. He doesn't seem to pull his weight even on his days off and i'm a little peed off. So we'll be having words tomorrow when i'm not annoyed and can talk without shouting! lol

DD's tantrums are getting worse and so is her nappy rash!! Its BRIGHT red and seriously looks like bad eczema on her parts Its boiling hot

LuckySalem · 05/02/2009 23:03

MM - which thread? We can all come and join in if you like-- gang up on the rest ;) hahaha

Hmmm, comfy sofa? No I am of course a chaise long!! lol

mixedmamameansbusiness · 06/02/2009 08:59

going to catch up... but DS2 now has chicken pox... aggghhh

LaTrucha · 06/02/2009 09:10

Morning all. I'm off to look at that thread Madmouse. I'll defend you! Don't worry, we all have crazy days on Mumsnet where we think 'oh, that'll be a good idea. Everyone will agree with me.' and then they don't.....

Lucky - if you're anything like me you'll shout even louder for waitng!

Ange - We're in Cartagena in the South, just under ALicante so it is pretty touristy - although Cartagena is a pretty normal town. I'll have a look at that website though. MrsMc - any ideas then?

Mixedmama - Poor you! Poor DS2

Simpson / Lily - I have actually accidentally shoplifted with Sabela. I'd given her some Babybels to play with and she'd dropped them in her cosytoe. I didn't find or remember them until we got home. She hates them anyway!

I am currently perched on my bed, next to sleeping and snoring DD (who will not sleep in her nice safe cot, hence me perched to stop her rolling off my bed wheer she will sleep)with DH snoring on the other side. I may be round for a while on MN at this rate!

I saw a lady in her car with her arms folded looking very fed up. All was explained when I saw her sleeping baby in the carseat in the back! How many of you have done that?

JustKeepSwimming · 06/02/2009 09:14

oh no mixedm hope he's ok with it...

hi there Lucky

madmouse - i have learnt don't go out there! unless it's just a friendly fun thread.
only you know the details of your friends so know if you did the right thing for them, but MN won't let you off that easily!

ange - i'm a new addict to card making, haven't tried to sell any, just make them to stop me spending a fortune on nothing special in card shops!

mini-spoilt-teenager-birthday rant:
dh bought me:
a john grisham book (hasn't noticed that i think he's cr*p though i did use to like his books)
a pair of leather gloves - i asked for some but...they are a weird beigey colour like something granny would wear, i can't see that i'll wear them....

ok, i'll be fine, real present is dinner tonight
(and maybe a quick casino trip!)

AngeChica · 06/02/2009 09:15

happy birthday JKS ... hope you are getting a lie in

LaTrucha · 06/02/2009 09:15

JKS - Make it clear you'r enot impressed. He still has time to rush out for diamonds!

I can't find that thread MM.

JustKeepSwimming · 06/02/2009 09:20

Thanks Ange
sort of..i woke dh as he hadn't heard ds1 get up.
they went downstairs but ds2 was already stirring, i lay there listening to him crescendo-ing waiting for dh to hear him....felt bad for ds2 so got up and brought him down.
'oh i just heard him'

then they came and woke me up (with tea) at 8.

JustKeepSwimming · 06/02/2009 09:21

LOL, i don't want diamonds really but some flowers might be nice....

click on madmouse's profile, see her recent posts, there's an AIBU about ttcing thread.

mixedmamameansbusiness · 06/02/2009 09:23

happy birthday ladies

mm... i think you dealt with that thread brilliantly

simpson · 06/02/2009 09:31

Hi all

Mixed mama - Grrr on the chicken pox. Hoping DS hasn't caught it from his friend at pre school who is now off with it.

Madmouse - Am not brave enough to go in AIBU How is Nathan now?

LaT - ((hugs)) Hope Sabela is better today...How are you doing?

Lucky - Glad you are back Was DP pleased with the footie? Let us know how "words" go?

When I got up this morning, my heart sank as there is more snow!! DH not home till 9pm and the thought of having both DCs in the house all day does not thrill me with joy

But horaay DS's school is still open as long as no more snow!!

Hi to everyone else...back later!!

LaTrucha · 06/02/2009 09:44

Good idea JKS!

Glad DSs school is open. Still glad I'm not in the snow!

simpson · 06/02/2009 09:45

Lucky - forgot to say, you have my sympathies with A with temper tantrums, whinging and sore bum.

Got all 3 here. My mum had to come round yesterday as she could tell I was at the end of my tether with her She brought a takeaway too

We are thinking of getting a play pen (2nd hand) won't stop the whinging or temper tantrums but at least she won't creep after me and also her new thing is flinging herself backwards in the middle of temper tantrum and banging her head so play pen would be good to put her in then as she won't be able to hurt herself!!
