morning,

mm sorry nathan is under the weather... lily and simpson have said everything i might have said and as you said before you are amongst friends here so no need for the about your memories.

we are in the final stages of chicken pox here... but it is so icy outside i cant face a trip even downstairs.

jks - hope your evening was fun.. looking forward to being filled in.

feel a little jealous actually that on FB everyone has got pics of them playing in the snow with dc and like muppetts dh and i went to work and my boss was really surprised to see me... now feel like i have missed out on the chance of snow to play in

hope everyone is cool and will chat later.

JustKeepSwimming · 05/02/2009 08:51

hungover

first in years

was good, more later when i get home...

simpson · 05/02/2009 08:55

Morning all

JKS - how was your night??

Madmouse - Hope nathan better today

mixedmamameansbusiness · 05/02/2009 08:59

nope ds2 seems to be fine- strange since it is supposed to be really contagious... tbh ds1 seemed completely unbothered by the whole thing, if he didnt have the spots we wouldnt have known he was ill. he hardly even scratched.

jks- made me laugh... look forward to hearin more

simpson · 05/02/2009 09:01

Madmouse - forgot to say its a good sign that Nathan wants to eat/drink etc.

I would spoon feed little and often (only fruit/veg) and see how he gets on...

Are you at home with him today?

madmouse · 05/02/2009 10:30

morning all

jks how is your head

not bad here, Nathan slept 8-7.20. of course I was awake through the night checking him

he has been busy drinking dioralyte and only chucked up a bit of mucus from his cold I think. he has hungrily accepted a few spoons of frutapura at a rate of a spoon every few minutes and is carrying around and nibbling rich tea bicuits (well currently sleeping on me )
rang the doc back and he says seems to be on the mend. he said I should only feed him boiled rice and live yogurt . not sure about that bit but I just agreed with him...

Lots of snow here!!!

JustKeepSwimming · 05/02/2009 12:18

madmouse - he is sounding better, keep going with what you're doing. when they have a bad cough it does make them be sick if it happens at the wrong time. H has a cough and i think a sore throat as he does a little whimper when he stops coughing

smear tests - had one finally a month or so ago, was fine, much better than i remembered! and results were all clear had put it off for ages though.

so last night, will try and upload a pic for profile, though it's not a great photo.
it was good, apparently it's normally really really ott and opulent but they had scaled back this year as it's not the done thing to flash the cash atm.
we went to a place called the battersea evolution, which i'd never heard of before but is apparently the biggest indoor dining room in central london, or something.
it was a free bar i was good though, stuck to white wine and avoided cocktails (DH had a couple of them so not sure how he's feeling today!). but only saw sparkling water on the table and i don't like that so didn't drink enough water.
head not so great still, have taken some more neurofen and drinking lots of diet coke! i'd forgotten how hangovers felt!! actually i'm not feeling rough like i remember from uni so i must have been relatively sensible

there was this auction thing you could bid from your seat with a little machine, v clever. we bid on an evening at Hobbs with discounts on clothes (£50, think it went for 1000+!) and on a session with an interior designer - DH (think he went mad and bid 200 but it went for over 800, phew!).
some people there were still happy to spend lots so the credit crunch hasn't hit some people!!

right, waffled on, meant to say, went with see through knee highs, and i was cold so glad i had them on at least!

AngeChica · 05/02/2009 12:26

It does sound like nathan is on the mend madmouse. Just think, your BF has prob prevented him from having a tummy bug til now!

Bit depressed here as I think I am going to have to ask work to do 4 days a week for a little while. Hopefully i can drop back down once we are a bit better off but we are just struggling a little having embarked on the renovation work - it's a bottomless pit. The more I do the more I have to pay the childminder but it's still just about worth it.

Am currently on hold for B & Q for 40 mins....ho hum... Their customer service is truly appalling!

You shall go to the ball JKS . I bet you had a great time. A certain social networking site says its your birthday tomorrow as well!

Thanks for the craft ideas Lucky. Am deffo considering cardmaking, might be able to make some pocket money out of it as well. And you can get all the bits on Ebay as well.

I loved everyones snow pics. We only had a little up here, oddly!

Housemum · 05/02/2009 13:16

a laugh for a cold afternoon!

This had me chuckling - 3 kids here, secondary school has been closed all week, infants were open and she went yesterday, today they are on skeleton staff, and as we live a mile away and at the top of a hill that's like sheet ice I'm staying in!!

OK for milk and bread, but we have had to start on the soft marg I use for baking as we ran out of utterly butterly! If we're here much longer the loo rolls will run out...

mixedmamameansbusiness · 05/02/2009 13:48

have uploaded a pic of my boys... was meant to do it when you were all doing it the other day..

am very bored... dc asleep... dh thinking about coming home as no work going on... feeling lazy.

Housemum · 05/02/2009 13:59

MM - I'm the opposite, getting twitchy - have cleaned living room (including fishing lost toys from behind sofa etc, full on de-clutter), sorted spare room, have now got 2 bin-liners of stuff for charity, have priced up stuff for NCT sale next month, wheely bin is full and don't know when they'll be able to get up our hill to empty it, recycling bin nearly full. Have just started on bathroom cupboards...

mixedmamameansbusiness · 05/02/2009 14:00

blimey HM well done... my house is reletively tidy atm which is why i am bored... it could do with a proper spring clean and de-clutter tho.

Lilyloo · 05/02/2009 14:09

afternoon all snow been flutterling since this am here!

really need to do some ironing but struggling to motivate myself!

JKS glad you had good night hope the nagover clears soon.

MM sounds like he is on the mend. I honestly think they do build up immune system. DS has probably had 5 days off school since he started and 2 of them were a holiday. But when he first started nursery he was 3 and dd1 was 6 mths and they were constantly off with one thing and another.
I on the other hand rarely get their bugs as i have a great immune system from working with kids all my life!

Ange i am sure houses eat money. Our first house was virtually derelict and it definately did. Hence our second house was a new build I guess needs must!

Mixedm you feeling even more lazy now housemum posted that I am

Did anyone see this morning r/e the working / single mum damaging 'their' child children society report ?

OP posts:
Lilyloo · 05/02/2009 14:10

'nagover' hangover

OP posts:
Housemum · 05/02/2009 14:11

I'd tidied, which is why I'm on de-cluttering now. DD2 has got rid of one bin liner of stuff which is a big deal for her as she hates parting with things. Have got some knitting I'd like to be doing but DD2 will keep asking how I do it/can I show her and DD3 will just try to pull it off the needles, so that will have to wait. DH not home until late tonight either. Bored...

JustKeepSwimming · 05/02/2009 14:21

Hangover is going slowly - takes longer that it used to to get over these things! and the late night (bed about 1am) knocks me out too.

DS2 still sleeping, really must get DS1 to do something different, have let him watch lots of tv - some new programs he's not seen before so he's transfixed

Hoping ds2 will wake up and force us to go out, maybe a trip to the pet food shop - they have some rabbits, mice, etc. there to look at so worth a trip. then could go on to the factory shop for a cheap toy/book....
IF H wakes up. last time i sat here thinking he would be up any minute he slept for 4 hours
he loves his sleep - takes after me
(missed his morning nap today though)

Yes it is my birthday tomorrow - 34. normal playgroup in the morning then DH has the afternoon off, i may try and get my hair cut - think it may be time to start dyeing over the greys too or is that a bad birthday idea?!

impressed by all your cleaning/decluttering efforts, think Gingeme is the queen of decluttering!, i am a lazy *rse and 'stuff' just collects. though i have started listing some things on ebay. have a bid on one thing, yey! lots more to list, takes me longer than i think.

HM - that video clip is funny. i would have stood there looking at it for ages in disbelief but they seem pretty cool about it all!

Oh, and i've added a pic, it's not great.
You can see the necklace & bracelet at least (i had plain studs for earrings), and some of the dress. i wore the black shawl thing on top for a bit then hung it on the chair once i warmed up (bought it in India years ago on a trip).

Lilyloo · 05/02/2009 14:44

ooh JKS you looked lovely
talking of dresses did anyone see Ferns on this morning

OP posts:
mixedmamameansbusiness · 05/02/2009 15:57

JKS lovely and Fern mmm,... not sure about that myself but great that she has the guts to wear that

Gingeme · 05/02/2009 16:00

JKS very glam. Hope your head feels a bit better sooon. I'll try not to shout lol at quenn of de cluttering. Yes I do love a good clear out. My wardrobes next when and if the weather improves a bit
Madmouse is Nathan actualy drinking the Diarlyte? My kids hate it even mixed with a drop of juice
George has discovered he can climb now. He climbs on to ds's bed, the sofa, his walker and on to the toy cooker we bought for ds4 for Christmas I think I need some medicine for my nerves....
Well thats about it from me. xx

simpson · 05/02/2009 16:03

Am totally knackered...

Walked into town (30 mins) then around shops then 30 mins walk back again...

Totally but got stopped by security guard in wilkinsons He had been following me round shop and I left after buying nothing because they didn't have the photo album I wanted. The alarm went off too But the guard was waiting like he knew the alarm would go off iyswim

Dunno what set it off as i only had jars of baby food from Boots in the basket on buggy. I offered to let security guard search buggy but he apologized and let me go

JKS - Love the dress. Glad you had a good night..

DS is very wingey because he is tired. Spoke to his teacher today about how he will cope with school all day in Sept and she said he can do half days for as long as he needs to which is good.

Gingeme · 05/02/2009 16:03

Fern is too plain to wear something like that. If she had a bit more make up and some dangly ear rings then maybe. You can tell she isn't comfortable too by the way she is standing .

simpson · 05/02/2009 16:06

Gingeme - found wine to be a great medicine for nerves

LaTrucha · 05/02/2009 18:55

I don't think she looks comfortable either. In fact the dress doesn't look very comfortable to me.

Jks - you look lovely. Glad you had a good time. Hope the hangover was worth it.

Simpson - Blimey! I often leave shops without buying anything. Poor you.

Madmouse - how is NAthan tonight? Glad he seems to be taking fluids reasonably well.

We're having a horrible time. Sabela is completely peed off, ill and in pain. Cue equally miserable parents.

She is behaving completely out of character. She always pretty much hates being away from home but she always enjoys being with people. But she will scarcely even look at her grandparents. We hardly slept last night and she had fever all day too so that doesn't help. I have just had to leave her in her cot to cry because she is impossibly clingy with me.

Has anyone else had a bad MMR reaction? - probably people with older children. I'm not sure if it is that, or teeth, or what.

Sorry to keep whinging but things don't seem to be going my way lately.

Please tell me she will settle down.

LaTrucha · 05/02/2009 19:14

Any ideas over here would be welcome.

madmouse · 05/02/2009 19:59

LaT sorry things seem to be really tough for you out there. Sounds like you have cabin fever too. Have you got Sabela nicely dosed up on nurofen/calpol? Do you need me to send you anything. Don't forget I'm an immigrant the start is the hardest.

Well I think Nathan is on the mend, but it is two steps forward one step back. I had a major wobble about it this afternoon, just need him to get better now. Hos lovely recently acquired toddler tummy has all gone again and I find it hard to see how he is ever going to eat again. He is drinking but still barely eating. And top top it all off dh is due to go away for the whole weekend. Although he has said if he is not happy with Nathan's condition he is not going bless him. I am just hoping for really bad weather so I cannot get to work tomorrow and dh cannot go away

Bein ill is making Nathan so tired that he nearly fell asleep on his mat while being put in his hated pyamas and on his play mat clutching his train when I came upstairs with his milk, bless.
