Afternoon ladies. Have just been reading through yesterdays thread re the sahm bit oh yes I count down the last hour before 7pm wanting a bit of pece before DH comes in from work I have just had a bit of a ding dong with him about it actualy because he starts his annual leave Friday so I suggested going to my parents for the weekend. He said 'I'm going out Friday night' so I said 'but I need a break and a change of scenery, and so do the boys' he said' ok well go Saturday morning'I was on my way out to get Edward from nursery and said 'no don't put yourself out for us' and slammed the door . He's got 2 bloody weeks to go out aaaagggghhhh....
Sorry about that and breathe
JKS hold ups are brill but then again what shoes are you wearing? Could you not get away with pop socks? I wore them a couple of times when I was pg and we went out. No one will know.
I am trying to avoid the Jane Goodey story till Friday when I have my gp appt. Told DH this morning and he assured me it was just a gland thing
madmouse could be the coughing. George did this a few weeks ago he had a nasty tickly cough and if it happened while he was eating he was sick. Might be worth getting some simple linctus to soothe the cough a little
George did realy well sleeping last night. He went to bed at 7 as usual with a bottle. Slept till 4.18 had a bottle and slept till 7.52 I feel almost human today. Mind you he did have a huge bowl of shepards pie and sweet corn for his dinner and 2 fromage frais
Right off to get some lunch now.
Two little ones having their naps.
See you later xx

LaTrucha · 04/02/2009 12:51

DD has temperature and totally grizzly today so aLTHOUGH i was enjoying reading your discussion of tantruma we're having one here so can't join in right now.Roll on nap time!

Lilyloo · 04/02/2009 13:41

It's a lovely one lot's of littlies there and my sis goes too so had nice morning.
M attached herself to me for first hour and pulling my top up but she then crawled off to play and i had nice chat with my sis.
So going to try and find more in the mornings when dd at pre school.

MM poor Nathan hopefully it was the cough ?

Simps rofl at ds what did you say ? Sounds like a good tip!

JKS ooh wish i was going to a ball i wouldn't worry about having tights if you have long dress on. Post us a piccie!

Gingeme i wouldn't read the JG thread i haven't either as my sis having some gynae problems and awaiting a load of results

LaT hope Sabelas mood improves for you.

Mixedm great news r/e ticket I always say i will do race for life in memory of my mum , actually may do it with dd1 this year.

Think dd1 was about 18mths last time i had one!

OP posts:
Gingeme · 04/02/2009 14:39

illy its every 3 years now.
Got a letter from the passprt office to say Georgespicture was too light taking him to get more done Friday

LaTrucha · 04/02/2009 14:48

Lily - LOL at pulling your top up. Sabela is even less subtle - she does a full arm stretch point at my boobie and if I ignore ehr she pokes it! Glad you enjoyed your group. I'm really missing mine.

JKS - enjoy yourself tonight. I would go for hold-ups myself but if you have to go for knee-highs - do the nude ones.

Lucky - I secodn MM's idea about leaving LO. HAving said that it is impossible to do it here as as soon as she makes a peep both the DGs are there asking what the matter is. Not a lot of help. Makes me a prisoner of DD!

Madmouse. I used to have some of those shoes but really they'd be much better now. I've bought some sturdy looking slipper socks from ebay but if they're no good, I might take you up on that offer.

Mixedmama - glad to hear the job situation is working out for you in the end. Now, did you get the holiday sorted?

Simpson - lol at DSs new word. Sabela's is 'poo' which she said yesterday. DH and I have a funny little 'she's done a poo' dance and she has picked it up. She starts doing it as soon as she's done one!

Gingeme - I agree about the SAHm thing. It's difficult because I feel I'm pending on DH for certain things which he's not really aware of. It's no this fault he does all he can. I love it but when DH isn't there for an evening it can be even nicer once she's gone to bed!

MrsMc - I do find Spain much less baby friendly really. For example, the entrances to shops are much less well prepared for wheeled vehicles of all kinds and you're right - the snacks etc are not half as good. I also find that there are so many frills and laces etc on all the prams and I can't stand all that stuff. Also, the safety recommendations are very different, I think. Sabela's cot - which was my SILs has bumper, quilt, duvet, pillow etc etc . I think they think I'm weird as the first hting I did was to take it all out - I tried to do it qithout any fuss or notice but the cot does look a lot more bare. Have you not been able to find a mother and baby group? Me neither. We're in Caratgena, Murcia BTW

Well, I think what Sabela is having is a reaction to the MMR which she had early almost 6 weeks ago. I'm very becuase her red book has gone missing and we can't register ehre without it. DH has now said - 'don't you remember I go it out of the case and put it on the trolley when I got the passports out. Well no, I don't.

I am a true cancerian lady as I am truly hating being out of my house. MIL still won't let me do anything in the house. The truth is - which she knows - is that she's bored stiff and doesn't have enought ot do herself. It leaves me with Sabela in my arms all day which I don't enjoy even if she is lovely. As soon as I put her down the DGs are squawking round her and it's not long until they start saying, 'oh, she wants her mummy.' We had a word with them at lunch time. We'll see if it works. I knew I would find this very difficult. . Oh well. DH does need the time here. I'll have to do my best to adapt - which I'm not very good at either!

Off to ebay more toys while DD is sleeping!

simpson · 04/02/2009 14:50

Grr on the passport pic Ginge...

I haven't had a smear since before having DS

Mixedmama - I have to pick my tickets up from Euston station in those machine thingies...

Sorry about TMI, but how many times do your LOs poo in a day if they are not ill etc???

DD still seems to be pooing a lot and I guess I need to try and work out what is normal etc.

Think DS only pooed once a day at this age...but can't really remember.

Lilyloo · 04/02/2009 14:56

LaT guess you need to give yourself time to adjust!

Simpson dd does 1 a day occassionally 2.

mixedmamameansbusiness · 04/02/2009 15:01

LaT - Turkey is very much like that aswell pillows and frills on everything. They also really mother their children... they were all really shocked at how DS1 can feed himself (he was 2.5) and their 6 year olds were being fed by their mums and having to be coerced at that.

Holiday is sorted thank you... all booked... just me and the kids and flying out with my mum and bro and back with my bro, so he can help, altho tbh he isnt that much help bless him and to top off his usual stuff yesterday he had a fit and now has to be tested for epilepsy.... it looks like he is never going to be able to be med free and live without worry, in fact i think we all worry more than him.

mixedmamameansbusiness · 04/02/2009 15:03

Gingeme - pls remind me (again) of the date for the meet up at your and I will see if i can switch my days at work... what are the timings etc... just going to figure out a nice long bus route.

simpson · 04/02/2009 15:16

Mixed mama pleeease come then we will know what each other looks like for meeting at Euston Although obviously I have seen your FB pics...

It's on 11th Feb (next Wed) around 12 ish.

LaT - Grr on PIL. LOL at poo dance. We have a poo song which is totally made up obviously and we seem to be singing it all the time at the mo...

LaTrucha · 04/02/2009 15:29

Simpson - DD usually goes 1 or 2 times a day. She has been known to go five or six times!

Mixedmama - That holiday sounds great. One thing about my bro is that I do think he's genuinely scared about his condition - which he needs to be. He's just been put on a load more meds and actuslly can hold a conversation now so I feel a bit better - although part of me is always waiting for the next down.

Lilyloo - adust? Moi? But why can't I just have everything exactly how I want it?

Am getting myself sorted a bit with world band radio and books in English from Amazon.I',m also starting a Spanish course at the uni at the end of the month. Haven't I been a busy LaTrucha?

Gingeme · 04/02/2009 16:20

mm there you go simpson just told you a week today about middayish but I'm easy on the time realy as I have no school runs as I have already told DH hes doing them that day Try to come. Would be lovely to see you again.
George does about 3 poohs a day depending on what he has eaten realy.
As soon as the boys passports are done we are booking a holiday 2 weeks in Tenerife in August. DH swapped 2 weeks holiday with a bloke at work so he now has 3 weeks in August. We are also having a little mini break to Haven in May. Thats booked now. Oh I can't wait I can tell you.
No pooh songs here. Just Edward with his new word ..............

madmouse · 04/02/2009 16:40

i was home for ten mins and had just given Nathan some cold milk which he drank greedily and out it came together with the yogurt he had managed at the childminder

just had a call back from doctor who thinks it is a bug. to give him dioralyte and take him to hospital if he does not keep fluids down and to call him back tomorrow.

any of your los had this? ginge surely you over the years? any tips do i offer any food at all? what? he pinched to savoury crackers from my pretzel mix!

simpson · 04/02/2009 17:26

Madmouse - poor Nathan.

Does he have cows milk or ff?

I would stay off the dairy and try the small really pureed jars/fruitapura and see if they stay down.

The time DD was being sick for days and keeping nothing down we were told to offer fluids every 15mins and offer food with lots of water in ie melon etc.

It is more important that he gets fluids than food ATM.

Also dilute the milk with water.

Are his nappies still wet?

We took DD to the hospital because she didn't wee and was lethargic.

How is Nathan in himself??

LaTrucha · 04/02/2009 19:15

Sorry to hear about Nathan, Madmouse. I hate it when they can't eat. Simpson is wise. I would concentrate on fluids too. Sabela has had a soaring temperature this afternoon and it was horrible. She just wanted to flop on my chest. She perked up afterwards though. Hope Nathan has a good night and feels better int he morning.

madmouse · 04/02/2009 20:11

well, we have had him sip dioralyte and because he has to have small sips he has only had a few ounces, but it seems to perk him up already. I would not mind if he would wake up a few times during the night for some more to drink.

there was wee in his nappy but not a lot.

but he has not vomited since 3pm and he has not had real diarrhoea, just a very nasty poo this morning.

as soon as anything (including fluid) goes into his tummy it makes a huge rumbling noise . have decided against his evening milk and offered a bit more dioralyte.

Will he feel better in the morning? Did I do it all wrong yesterday giving too heavy foods too soon? . Feel bad insecure mummy.

madmouse · 04/02/2009 20:13

simpson he was a bit lethargic, but seemed a bit better after some dioralyte. He has been playing with an envelope while I was cooking and throwing bread and crackers around while we were eating. I assume as long as he is still interested in his toys he is ok?

Lilyloo · 04/02/2009 20:50

MM if giving him anything to eat just dry toast or such like. Anything plain and bland for a few days. Dry biscuits etc
I would really leave the dairy as it's too heavy!
Also i know flat lemonade is really good for settling upset stomachs and stopping the vomiting.

Other than that lot's and lot's of fluids. I could never get mine to take dioralyte so well done!

OP posts:
simpson · 04/02/2009 21:03

I agree DS hated that dioralite stuff.

I would give him water/fluid little and often.

It is soo hard to know what to do for them when they are sick so don't beat yourself up about it.

Yes toast/dry crackers are good. They may make him more thirsty too

As long as there is some wee in nappy that is good.

Hosp also told me that for every half hour after having fluids/food that they manage to keep it down they will be getting something from it iyswim.

Lilyloo · 04/02/2009 21:10

MM agree don't feel bad it's all bit hit and miss.
He is going to get a few bugs i guess being at cm.
dd1 was ill for first 6 mths at nursery.

Hope he better soon!

OP posts:
simpson · 04/02/2009 21:12

Also tip that the GP gave me with DS when he had similar thing at 11mths is to give fluids every 15-30mins.

Think there is more chance of it staying down this way than if they down 4/5 ozs in one go iyswim.

madmouse · 04/02/2009 22:19

Thanks Lily and Simpson for telling me what i need to hear. i get so incredibly emotional when he is ill and restless, always thinking the worst.

Lily you are right about the childminder. The 22 month old who is also there is always having some lurgy of sorts. I guess it will give him a good immune system in the long run

Just back from Tesco and I felt really forlorn walking around there on my own with quite intrusive memories of doing the same when Nathan was in scbu.

Oh what is up with me so maudlin [angr] sorry

even bought him a lovely new Winnie the Pooh changing mat. His old one had cracks in and some sick got in the cracks. Vile.

he has been sleeping like a log since 8pm so he must be comfy. He has not sicked up since 3pm so that is good. He only did one pooh, this morning, so no real diarhoea. He is very thirsty Simpson, we actually need to take the cup from him after a few sips or he will drink hiself sick, literally. Dh says it is his body knowing it needs fluid as he is not eating. Havebought some rich tea biscuits for nibbling tomorrow if he wants it. I am going to be very careful with spoonfeeding as he loves his food and I think he takes spoon from me even if he should say no iyswim.

hope to be back to my happy self again tomorrow.

Hope JKS is having a good time. You think she went bare legged?

madmouse · 04/02/2009 22:53

Goodness me it is a madmouse solo act tonight. Lucky where are you??

Forgot to tell you the nice bit. Nathan is feeding me! He has been putting bits of his cracker in my mouth and offering me his cracker to bite off i think it started when he did not want his new (first!) toothbrush and I showed him how to clean my teeth with it
