Madmouse - DD no where near building towers. Just just got her head round banging 2 bricks together to make noise

I write a journal every day which I like doing. Wanted a record of DCs very little iyswim.

JKS - Grrr on the early start. What was that loud bang?

Is your pre school open today?

madmouse · 03/02/2009 09:10

Morning all

Not expecting anyone to actually read my blog. it is full of waffle definitely .

JKS sympathies. Nathan was awake approximately every hour and a half. Cant believe only a few months ago he was like this all the time. His temperature went right down and i even put a blanket on him and he seemed fine, just wanted to snuggle into me and sleep on me. In the end at 5.30 I gave him warm milk and a clean nappy (because of sore bottom) and he settled until 8.10am.I am definitely feeling though

He is slowly eating a bit of breakfast and playing with a shaker as well so seems to be on the mend. We have been invited to a special needs stay and play that starts today, and he looks well enough to go.

A present just arrived from his girlfriend in Oxford, a bird feeder just like the one she has , genius idea from my friend who is a primary school teacher , will get some food for it today so we can watch birds together, especially now with the snow.

Lucky hope the snow is still there for you.

JustKeepSwimming · 03/02/2009 09:58

Found out what it was just now!
PIL brought an old set of golf clubs up with them for DH (used to be his grandads and he's sentimental about them apparently). i had stood them up in dh's study, just come in here and found them on the floor. phew! freaked me out just a little in the middle of the night. won't bother standing them up again....

H loves banging the bricks together oh and knocking down any towers i make...

Nathan sounding a bit better today, hope you both enjoy the playgroup.

Pre-school open, sing and sign closed. walked all the way there too, hmph. was a message on the home phone from last night but i hadn't heard it ring.

simpson · 03/02/2009 10:20

Ds's school closed today and not bothering to go to toddler group.

Wasn't counting on having DS and double buggy now in shed. Its too far for DS to walk to find it closed...and too icy/cold.

Hoping DS can go back to school tomorrow as he is bored. Although in back garden scraping snow off his toys ATM so that may keep him occupied for all of....5mins!!

Am saving DVD of The Snowman for when things get really bad!! When DD starts whinging then DS normally copies, does my head in

DD being pain in bum whinging. Have had to put her in cot just so I can have a cup of tea and she seems quite happy up there singing etc.

LuckySalem · 03/02/2009 10:47

The snow has turned to icy stuff - no good for a snowman!! and too cold for DD
I KNEW I should have played with it last night while I had the chance but it was dark.

Sorry to hear no school Simps - Me and DD going to baby group today (not sure how much longer she'll be allowed in there though)

simpson · 03/02/2009 10:58

Yep...turned icy here too but I think there is more snow on the way Thurs or Fri.

Enjoy baby group.

Do they have a toddler group that continues after iyswim?

LuckySalem · 03/02/2009 11:00

no toddler group is on a fri!! oh more snow

Lilyloo · 03/02/2009 11:05

loads and loads of snow here but sunny now!
but they kept school / pre school open so trudhing up and down hill!

M had great night one wake up at 2.30 but she in foul mood today might put her out in snow that should shut her up

OP posts:
simpson · 03/02/2009 11:29

Lilyloo - glad Molly is not the only one in a foul mood

She has been in cot for 30mins now wide awake but quite happy...

DS has just "helped" me to cook lunch

LaTrucha · 03/02/2009 11:46

Hi all!

FInally online here in Spain where I'm sorry to tell you, the sun is shining. Congratulations to all of you who love snow, but I hate it and am very glad to have missed it. How is it today>? Still falling?

I hope NAthan is better Madmouse. I'm a fretter too. I hate it when she doesn't eat, even if I know the reason.

Lily, Simpson and Lucky - Sabela is trying her luck too. For example, one of her tricks is to spit out anything she is ealting if she sees anything she'd rather put in her mouth, for example, papaer. This morning she was happily eating a banana when she saw some paper, spat out the banana onto the pale pink dress I had just put her in and went hell for leather for the paper so I couldn't clean her. I told her no and she continued so I said 'Sabela!' not loudly but in a stern voice and she burt into floods of tears immediately. I didn't hug her straight away and DH said that was good.

JKS - Sabel is a demolition expert too, although she is developing a liking for puttining things back in a box when she has got them out.

Ok can I have a whinge?

It's a relief to be talking to you guys as it is somehting normal. All is a little strange here. My MIL won't let me do anything or pay for anything so not only do I feel completely a parasite but I'm bored too. Sabela is great but I ususally get a break from her - and she gets to watch me which she likes - doing the hoovering etc...

Also, she has not toys to play with. I brought minimal ones as was told there were loads here but they are all teddies and as you know, our LOs can't do much with them yet. We haven't been able to get out any money till today so I'll buy some later. She doesn't have anywhere to walk either as the floors are all tiles. I have to work out Spanish internet shopping so I can buy her some non-slip soles. DH says there is no word in Spanish for non-slip, so I'm not sure how I'll find them.

I've also just bought a pushchair which I think Sabela hates. I liked it because she can face me but the seat is a bit bucket-like and she doesn't seem to like it. Am a bit because only I wanted to buy that model.

So, my big question of the day is: What kind of shoes / socks / slippers have you found best, and could I buy them form here do you think?

Thanks of reading hte whinge - if you did!m . ~It's nice to be back and hear all about you and yours.

Lilyloo · 03/02/2009 12:55

Snow piccie on my profile

LaT glad you got there safely. Can MrsM help ?
DD still just in socks as she won't keep soft shoes on and would rather not put her in 'real' shoes until she is properly walking!

Simps just put her to bed could feel my nerves fraying!!!
DD watching Cinderella asked her if she wanted to go build a snowman but she doesn't!

OP posts:
simpson · 03/02/2009 13:27

Lilyloo - Am having a bad day here.

DS decides to put every book he owns on the top shelf of his book case at exactly the same time DD rams a whole broccoli floret in her mouth and is sick everywhere

The good news is I don't think DD slept all that time while she was upstairs so will be due nap soon. Oh no, here she comes, creeping towards me mum mum mum. Grrr.

LaT - good to have you back!! Sorry can't help on the shoe front as DD not even standing yet. She wears tights under everything saves me putting socks back on again & again...

JustKeepSwimming · 03/02/2009 16:08

Simpson - put on the Snowman yet?
DD napped yet?

Had a v lazy couple of hours as H has slept. I tried getting the colours out and ended up colouring in Thomas on my own while T watched CBeebies!!
Ah well he had pre-school this morning so he's allowed some chill out time...

LaT - glad you all got there ok and are settling in. so are you living with your in-laws? if you are going to be there a while you'll have to set ground rules from now - even if it's awkward for a few days. better than spending months trying to bite your tongue. even if it's only helping your MIL with jobs.
Can you try and buy stuff off ebay from sellers that will post to Spain?

Have added some snow pics to my FB page
T enjoyed it - would have stayed out longer i think - left him on his own for a bit as H was getting too cold. Was nice in the sunshine though.
It hasn't all melted, i thought it would have by now.

JustKeepSwimming · 03/02/2009 16:17

G - re next Wed. what time are we thinking? T's pre-school is shut that morning so we are free all day.
Thinking of maybe driving to yours (can i park anywhere around there?) then driving home again.

PIL arrive here the Thurs morning staying for a few days, DH & I are having our first 'days off' since having T - just going to London, but yey!
So T can switch to Thurs pre-school, i think.

So....would want to leave yours by 3ish?
What do you think?

simpson · 03/02/2009 16:30

Gingeme - I am also up for next week.

Have to get underground and want to avoid rush hour but other than that am fine.

JKS - He had watched film by midday

LOL at the colouring in!!

Felt sorry for DS as he wanted to go outside but was too cold for DD. But he did have the option of playing in the back garden which kept him amused for 30mins or so. But he wanted the front: more snow and is bigger. Oh well...

Good news is his school is open tomorrow

madmouse · 03/02/2009 16:48

Hello

Nathan seems a bit better, still sleeping lots but has eaten some weetabix and a bit of pasta. Has just done two really smelly poos, one solid (lucky dh)and one kind of newborn consistency but very foul smell (not so lucky me . I blame the sweetener in the nurofen .

special needs stay and play was cancelled because the school is closed . Had a letter and an oral invitation then a call to check i was coming but no one rang to tell me not to brave icy conditions with my tot in tow grrrrrrr.

LaT good to see you, glad you are ok.
Nathan has a pair of these, they are beautiful with leather soles and there are many different ones, he only wears them occassionally though. if you want me to buy and send you some shoes get in touch xx

hello everone else

simpson · 03/02/2009 16:55

Ok bad mummy alert

DD has just tried jelly and loved it and eaten a whole pot!!

She kept making these big sighs as in "hurry up mummy and feed me more!"

Gingeme · 03/02/2009 17:13

simpson. George loves jelly too.
re meet up any time from midday realy. JKS did I give you my address? Yes we have a car park right outside the flats. I left a message for Barristermum on FB but she said she probably won't be able to make it as she is in the middle of a 4 week case . Shame cause she realy doesn't live far from me.
George is still snotty today but thankfully slept much better last night
Right off to make some dinner. Will pop back later to catch up properly

simpson · 03/02/2009 17:22

With DS I was so PFB I don't think he had jelly till he was over 2

Ginge - Think I have your address. How far are you from tube?

LuckySalem · 03/02/2009 17:23

Simp DD has jelly and icecream for pudding most nights or a yoghurt!

simpson · 03/02/2009 17:27

Lucky - this was my thinking. She can't have yogurt or custard or ice cream or rice pudding.

So whats a bit of jelly???

I just remember being at a baby clinic (with DS) and jelly was made out to b crack cocaine for LOs Grrr.

DD whinging at my feet again

She has now learnt to tug on my trousers till I acknowledge her....

LuckySalem · 03/02/2009 17:30

LMAO Simps - DD is so good at that too. She normally mummmmms me then if I even try to ignore her she's pratically pulling my trousers down trying to climb my leg
She's kipping at the mo - peace and quiet!

Taking her to silly barts in the morning (soft play) then we're coming back having a kip and emptying her room ready to put all the new furniture in there on Thurs Just gonna leave her cot in there overnight.
Liverpool V Everton FA Cup tomorrow which DD has to stay up for (apparently)

simpson · 03/02/2009 17:42

Lucky - thats just it. I was trying to ignore the whinging at this is her new trick!!

She was so bad today creeping from the front room to kitchen where I was MNing cooking whinging at the same time so I was picking her up and putting her back in front room with toys etc.

But DD was having none of it and kept crawling mum mum mum waa waa back to me. Grrr.

Days like this I wish I still smoked

MrsMcJnr · 03/02/2009 19:40

Hey ladies we have torrential rain here again today I would much prefer snow!!

Where?s your blog located MM? no towers here, just lots of noise and destruction of anything I build glad to hear Nathan is feeling better and hope you have a better night.

JKS ? ugg what a night for you hope tonight is better

Simpson ? that?s a lovely idea about the journal. I kept one when pg with DS and I am reading back on it a lot at the mo. DH tried to get me a 5 year diary for Christmas so I could keep it up but couldn?t find one I really must try and write something. No nap from DS here this morning either and he did a disappearing act from his safe area ? I found him on the balcony I felt sick for hours afterwards! I?d only been out of the room for seconds too.

Hello Lily, hello Lucky and Gingeme

LaT ? glad the sun is shining with you (where are you again??) DS is doing that spitting out thing too, he hasn?t quite grasped that he can eat what?s in his mouth and then have the next thing! It must be strange being at your MIL. Everything is so different when you have a child. I wonder how you will find Spain now you have a little one? I?d be really interested to know as I used to think it was so child friendly but it isn?t when it comes to places to change your baby when out and about, places for them to play like soft play, the selection of snacks you can buy etc, the cost of clothes and toys. As you are going to be there a while you must have a chat with your MIL now and set ground rules for all of your sake! The supermarkets are the best bet for toys really, children?s shops are really expensive. I did get quite a lot on British eBay at Christmas as even with shipping costs they were much cheaper. We have either marble or tiles here too. Most of the time DS is barefoot in the house, I think it?s the safest option even if it is a bit chilly but if we are out he wears Shoo shoes with leather soles, you know the soft pull on shoes. Expensive here so get some on British eBay if you haven?t got any. If you can find a Chinese shop near you (like Pound Stretchers and everywhere here) you can buy foam tiles that fit together to create a soft area quite cheaply, that?s what I have done in Xavier?s bedroom. There is a website www.mumsinspain.com that might be useful, it is no way as busy as Mumsnet but it gave me some great pointers in the early days. Also, feel free to CAT me if you want to chat about stuff in Spain and then we can chat without boring the others

LuckySalem · 03/02/2009 20:18

OMG Aaliyah is such a pain lately. She's really throwing her weight around trying to see how much she can get away with. She either doesn't understand no or just ignores it i'm not sure which yet. She's been having back arching tantrums and screaming fits for most of the day Feeling like a totally rubbish mum today just hope tomorrow goes better.
