JKS - well done on getting DS1 to eat tea.

DS pretty good eater but sooooo slow. Drives me mad!! He took over an hour to eat tonight.

Gingeme - hope it goes ok at the doc's tomorrow.

Am at the hosp with DS tomorrow as since his ear infection last Oct he doesn't hear me (could be toddler selective deafness )

Gingeme · 01/02/2009 20:35

Thankyou shall do.
I have just looked out the window and its all white out there

LuckySalem · 01/02/2009 20:40

G - hope you're building it up into something it isn't, IYKWIM.

I will have to look out in a mo. DH is getting the train to london tomorrow. PIL are planning to drive home to Hampshire.
Have been trying to warn them that driving may not be such a great idea tomorrow but feel like i'm being a drama queen.

right, off to bed soon....

JustKeepSwimming · 01/02/2009 20:53

No Lily - you've had your share already
the party sounds perfect for little girls

Have got some jewellery of dh's gran that may be good, it's 'marcasite' which is fake diamonds i think. have a necklace, bracelet and earrings.
the earrings are clip-on which worries me as they might fall off but they seem pretty tight.

was wondering about pearls with a black dress, any thoughts? not that i have any mind you. have been looking on ebay for jewellery bits but not sure...

madmouse · 01/02/2009 20:59

ginge please do get it all checked out pronto. and do keep us posted please

and you will make a fab doula whatever your age, i mean with your experience

JKS my best tip for jewellery is large tescos and sainsburys. quite surprising what you will find...

am frustrated. Nathan woke at 6.45, bit onay but happy to play a bit, so offered him a bit of food. he ate a little pot of fromage frais all clean. 20mins later I offered him a second one which he also ate, but then chucked both out again

Decided to take him to bed with calpol for his temperature. He did have his warm milk and went to sleep beautifully. I am just such a worry head. Would have loved to take him to the doctors if I did not think the doctor would ask what i was doing there . I think it all goes back to the time when I was holding nathan and it was dh who noticed he was not breathing . As soon as something is wrong with nathan I feel I am unable to be a good mum. Hope it passes before he is 18 and that I will be more lackadaisical with no2.

Lily was thinking of you with the snow forcast. I know you are sick of the stuff...

If there is lots of snow it will be hard for me to cycle to Nuneaton. But if Nathan is not well i wont go anyway.

madmouse · 01/02/2009 21:01

meantto say Nathan is moany not onay?

Gingeme · 01/02/2009 21:18

Madmouse try to avoid dairy when they are sicky or poohey hope hes better tomm xxx

madmouse · 01/02/2009 21:39

ginge it is (apart from cake and ham sandwich hohum) the only thing staying in. wish i was still bf

simpson · 02/02/2009 08:06

Ooooh lots of snow here. DS is very excited

Won't be able to get to hospital appt as my mum can't get here to have DD.

Was supposed to meet a RL friend for lunch too and can't do that either

Madmouse - hope Nathan better today.

Gingeme - Let us know how you get on at doc's...

simpson · 02/02/2009 08:25

Think DS's school is closed too....

Fragolina · 02/02/2009 09:43

Morning, lots of snow here, all white and still falling. Haven't gone to work today because feel really awful - throat infection, then was sick half the night because the antibiotics didn't agree with me! about my mix up on the meet up dates - will put 28th Feb in my diary.

Will be in London on Sat 7th/Sun 8th - any good recommendations for baby friendly activities and hotels?

JKS - Wallis good for jewellery

Madm - hope Nathan doing better. Is he taking plenty of liquids?

Gingeme - Hope you're feeling beetter, please let us know what the doc says. Think you'd be a fab doula. I love the idea of it, but don't know if I could really do the practicality of dropping everything to be at someone's side for however long it takes (i.e. don't know if DH would manage!)...that's prob because I was in labour in hospital from Wednesday evening morning to Friday morning!

Lilyloo - how's dd's bruising?

LaT - sunny in spain?

Have been feeling quite broody lately, but still have to sort out my rubella vaccination,as they found I didn't have the antibodies in the standard blood tests they do for pregnant women. Apparently I can only get it as the MMR on the NHS, and I have to have two vaccines. Will get around to it soon.

Anyone got good sore throat rememdies? Feeling quite queasy as well, and home alone, so not sure if have the energy to sort some breakfast out for myself, let alone lunch!

Fragolina · 02/02/2009 09:44

oooh, and anyone want to meet me in London on Sat 7th Feb? DH going to a rugby match, and me and T will have to entertain ourselves

MrsMcJnr · 02/02/2009 10:40

Hey ladies can?t believe that I haven?t posted in so many days that this thread dropped off my watch list nothing in particular to report as to my absence, just busy. Hope all is well and that all the babies with birthdays between Xavier?s and now had lovely days

Some very impressive electric storms here last night, we kept losing power it really is wet and nasty outside. If it weren?t for DS I?d be staying in all day but the walls start to close in on him if we don?t go out for a walk at least so I?ll have to brave it. Have his first appointment with the Spanish state paediatrician to try and align immunisations schedules etc soon, right at DS?s lunchtime in fact, he?ll be fractious!

Hope you are enjoying the snow beats rain any day!

Now to try and catch up?..!

Gingeme · 02/02/2009 11:16

Morning ladies. Another rough night with George Hes all snot today and not himself at all.
DH and the other ds's have been out in the snow. George and I watched from the window I'm not silly.
Cancelled my docs appt. Got another one Friday morning.
MrsMcJnr give me rain any day atleast that doesn't bring London to a stand still
ds3 off school today.
Madmouse how is your little boy today? Better I hope.
Frag I did make some enquiries on mn about becoming a doula and alot of ladies said its brill for family life as you can work around it so to speak. I was worried because I don't drive too but was told the client pays for all your travel expenses. Also traveling on public transport helps if you want to read up on stuff cause you do that on your journey.
Well bored kids here time to get the colours out.
Keep warm all xxxx

madmouse · 02/02/2009 11:35

hello

lots of snow here too. i am at home as Nathan still had a temp this morning and was very unhappy. so i am trying to manage the office by email and mobile. i had a lot of staff on the way to London they all stranded and the one determined soul who made it was told the training was cancelled

i am wondering whether Nathan has sinusitis. tmi alert, he has thick yellow snot with tiny blood traces like I get myself. It would hurt for sure. He seems to be getting a bit better.he last had calprofen at 8.30am and he feels cooler and is a bit livelier. Has eaten a bit of yogurt and not vomited since 8pm yesterday. he does not normally drink enough water but at 4am he was like a baby who'd been on a desert trek, gulping water from his tippee cup.

ginge hope George perks up, fragolina you too

laT get back here!

Lily how bad is it?

mixedmamameansbusiness · 02/02/2009 11:56

morning ladies lost the thread.. will catch up soon

Gingeme · 02/02/2009 12:06

madmouse George has that, yellow snot with tiny traces of blood! Is thst what it is? He just fell asleep on our floor Ive just put him to bed!

madmouse · 02/02/2009 12:16

nathan is asleep on me ginge, I am doing some online training with one hand

I looked on nhs website and it seems to match, apart from sickiness. maybe it is a virus.

george has it too? does he have a temp? pain?

ibuprofen seems to have done the trick here

Gingeme · 02/02/2009 15:24

A slight temp, no sickness though. Mmmm interesting/I'll keep an eye on him.Yes Nurofen works wonders doesn't it?

MrsMcJnr · 02/02/2009 15:58

Lilyloo ? had to laugh about the paint and the washing, what a monkey! hope your new jumper is ok. I?m dreading taking X for more injections sorry to hear things are stressful for DH, my DH and I have left the banking world now but it must be awful at the mo

Simpson ? LOL at DD?s escape, I get warning here as when DS escapes it is onto the marble floor and I hear him crawling out of the safe zone!! I know a little girl of 5 who had some digestive problems when she was a baby and she is scared to poo. Hope DD is much better these days. When does your class start? congrats to your Mum on having her book published and that?s lovely that she dedicated it to your DC

LaT ? hope Sabela is now ok and you are safely over here I also hope it is not so wet and miserable where you are!

Hello and welcome OchAye loving the name!

JKS ? hope H is feeling better and that you have been getting more sleep. I?d like 4 kids too, we?ll see some say that the sex of the child can be determined by when you have sex because the female sperm swims slower but lives longer and the male ones swim faster but die faster so for a girl you want to have lots of ?soldiers? waiting in the wings to bombard the egg and for a boy you need to effectively use the 12 hour OV window to conceive ? personally, so far I have covered all bases at fertile time but based on this theory I did think this baby might be a girl!

Hello Fragolina, Lucky and Angechica

Gingeme ? hope the lump is nothing but get it checked out x

Madmouse ? Nathan loves his food doesn?t he? what an ingenious way for the therapist to get him to use his right arm on the subject of BLW, I can?t help thinking that if I let DS eat exactly what he wanted he wouldn?t get as nutritious a diet, after all, I?m not too good on deciding what to eat myself from a health perspective (I like crap ) I?m sure I?d eat a lot better if someone organised my meals!! He always wants a bit of our food but that?s fine if he?s had a decent amount of his own.

Just been to see paediatrician to marry up Scottish and Spanish immunisation schedules. He?s a bit behind because they have the Men C at 6 months instead of a year here (and then the Hib at 15 months) so I need to get that done soon. They don?t get the MMR here until 16 months but get the PCV at the same time not that happy about that, seems a lot to give a little one in one go also, the PCV isn?t standard here you have to buy it yourself - hey ho! I also asked about dentists and they don?t see a dentist here until they are 6. Think I?ll just take DS to mine next time I am back in Scotland to get him used to going.

Mama & Filly ? LOL about the next one, you go girls

Filly ? hope the next few weeks go ok x

simpson · 02/02/2009 17:23

Has anyone read the story about the 14mth old baby who does not grow and is the size of a newborn??

Well baby's pead is quoted in paper and its only DD's crap doesn't seem to know whats wrong pead He says he has been a pead for 17yrs!!

All snowed out here

DD not very well either, no temp but exceptionally whingey. A dose of calpol has helped.

But might make tomorrow difficult if she is not well enough to go out as DS's school deffo closed. DH not back from work till gone 3pm.
