of the French holidays. DH would like to go to Spain this year, but we went when dd was 2 and it wa 2 to 1 I don't fancy taking ds when he's 2 when we have dd to watch too!!!! So i've persuaded him to wait til next year! We'll more than likely go back to the same place we went when dd was 2. It's somewhere I went pretty much every year when I was young, but my Dad booked the apartment in Spain and so will I which makes it much much cheaper, then book flights seperately etc. Plus it's not a hugely popular resort, French people go there as it's not far over theFrench border. It's quite quiet but the beach is lovely and so is the pool in the apartments we stay in and that's all that counts with dc in tow.

I have however, booked an exotic break via the Sun we're having a weekend in a Haven like we did last year!!

Dh also gets a bonus on 1st Feb as he's been at his worklace 10 years and he is desperate for us to go to Disneyland Paris so we'll do that at some point this year too. Got to get looking for deals as we'll be able to book soon

DD starts school tomorrow feeling a bit odd about it

oooggs · 11/01/2009 07:42

oh a holiday all our money is going into the house at the moment

sol - yes but in Cornwall you can meet up with me

pesha - hope the dcs are better soon

eddas - can wait to see pics

last night was much better - all asleep by 7pm and Jack up at 6.30am - which is early for him but he was coughing - I feel much better for it. Infact pure peace now as only ds2 and I up - b;imey one toddler is so easy - now why didn't I think that when ds1 was this age????

oooggs · 11/01/2009 07:43

morning eddas - wow G starting school - hope she enjoys it and doesn't get too stroppy tired

StealthPo09IsHere · 11/01/2009 08:47

glad last night was better oooggs, i bet you needed it! lol at one toddler being easy
Pesha, sorry you are all ill Hope it's over soon

Sexonlegs · 11/01/2009 09:35

Morning all

Oogggs, money can't buy a meet-up with you ! I haven't met you - I can't afford it!!!!

Pesha, pants to sickness Funny that we are both thinking France. We are going to go Portsmouth to St Malo- it's an overnight ferry so will get a 4 berth cabin, and we have found a gorgeus cottage in Brittany for 600 quid. They also give us 15% off the ferry if we book the cottage with them, so the ferry will be 460. I thought that was pretty good for August.

SPB, how are you feeling?

Morning Eddas. Hope G has a lovely day at school; I bet she will. Just take some tissues for you!!

Good here; had a lie in again Dh loves getting up with the girls at the weekends so who am I to stop him!

StealthPo09IsHere · 11/01/2009 10:08

I has a lie in, as well! Let's hope everyone had a good sleep last night.
I'm fine thanks, how are you?

StealthPo09IsHere · 11/01/2009 10:36

well just realised that when I make T's birthday cake I'm not going to be able to lick the bowl out Small price to pay

Pesha · 11/01/2009 11:15

Lol SPB, just have to make sure you make extra icing so theres plenty of that left in the bowl to lick!

Oooggs - glad you had a better night

Eddas - Good luck with first day of school tomorrow! Thats good luck to you by the way, I'm sure G will be fine!

SOL - we I looked at the over night ferrys as J's mum gets a French property owner's discount off Brittany ferries but even with that it works out at least £100 more than going Dover to Calais and driving and after Disneyland at new year we are counting every penny! Plus the last few times we have been to France we've been on the overnight or all day ferries and my dc never sleep, at all, and are manic and so over excited on the way down or sad and over tired on the way back and I hate trying to occupy them for 8 hours in a confined space! At least in a car they are strapped in the back and I can turn the music up to drown them out!! Anyway, asked them this mmorning and they want the one with the shared pool near Cahors which is £607, am amazed we can get somewhere so nice, when I started saving them I thought we would be going for one of the campsites in France with the tents already up and the kids clubs which would have been nice but our own little cottage is so much better!

Maia carried on being sick last night but you wouldn't know it to see her now, in fact all 3 completely manic and bouncing off the walls [tired] I am not feeling that much better!

runnyhabbit · 11/01/2009 16:29

Evening all

I've text MJ today. She messaged me on FB, but I'm pretty sure her dh is still on nights, which is prob why she's not on here so much.

SPB - CONGRATULATIONS So excited for you, but I can't tell me dh atm, because he is very, very broody.

Well, I still have a job. But they made 27 staff redundant Thats a total of 65 since Sept, and there was only about 200 to start with.
The downside to me keeping my job, is that I now have to work extra hours.
I really don't want to sound ungrateful,(and feel free to slap me if I do sound ungrateful) but it means that I will be working around 30hrs per wk, which is nearly fulltime, and something I didn't want to do while the boys are so little.
Still, on the plus side, I still have a job, and the extra money will def come in useful.

I've been on at dh for us to book a holiday this year Was really impressed with Thomson Family club last year, so think we'll go with them again, just to diff resort. Think fate is on my side, because a Thomson brochure came through the post yesterday, listing a lot of new family friendly hotels

And thank you for all your birthday messages have been thoroughly spoilt by dh and the boys. Dh bought me one of those mini laptops (netbook?) so it means I can now MN all round the house

StealthPo09IsHere · 11/01/2009 16:33

oh no runny
Glad you still have your job. Is there no-one else who would welcome the extra hours that doesn;t have the commitments you do?

Eddas · 11/01/2009 17:22

glad you still have your job rh, pants to extra hours though my boss made a fulltimer redundant on monday we only have a staff of about 15!! I knew it was coming, but was hoping it wouldn't be me.

I;m really anxious about tomorrow. I know it'll be fine, but it's new and I always worry about new things I think it's the unknown. Plus i think i'd got a bit too comfortable at the pre-school, you know, in the carpark waiting to pick up!! Thankfully there are lots of pre-school mums already at the school I'm pathetic aren't I

Northernlurker · 11/01/2009 18:09

Ladies - you do NOT want to go to France etc for your holidays. You (and your waterproofs) want to come to Scotland with me

Another friend told me she is expecting today - hurrah for her! I know so many pregnant people atm! I'm pleased to say it does not make me broody though Just worried about all the new baby presents I need to buy...

Sexonlegs · 11/01/2009 18:41

Hi loves

Runny, blimey, a lot of redundancies. Glad you have your job albeit a few more hours than you would like. Glad you had a lovely birthday too.

Eddas, wishing you and G all the best for tomorrow. It is a big step, and you are bound to feel nervous etc. Will be thinking about you

NL, too late! France is booked! I am so so excited, even though it is months away.

Pesha, where is Cahors then? I couldn't see it. We are gong to be near Dinan. I am blown away by how inexpensive the properties are.

Hope everyone is ok and have had good days. We have been for a walk with friends followed by a fab pub lunch.

Now need to do bath/bed. See you later x

geordieminx · 11/01/2009 19:03

Whereabouts you going NL?

cazboldy · 11/01/2009 19:11

all this holiday talk....... I'v NEVER had a holiday !

Pesha · 11/01/2009 19:42

Get saving Tescos vouchers Caz, with the amount of shopping you must do you'd have enough for a holiday in no time!

Runny - glad you kept your job but bummer to extra hours, i dont think you sound ungrateful at all. I am job searching atm but don't want to work much more than 20 hours and also would prefer to do that over 2 or 3 days rather than 5 but there is just nothing about.

SOL - Cahors is in the south, East of Bordeaux. Here in fact. Although cant actually book it yet as have to order clubcard vouchers as deal vouchers first and have to change my address to new one before I can do that but shall be doing it first thing tomorrow. Am slightly worried that now wev'e decided where we want to go it will be booked up! Nathan wants to have his birthday on holiday which is 2nd August so hoping for 1st wek of August, if not the 2nd week is still available but last 2 weeks are booked up already - eek!

No more sickness today but J and I still feeling crappy and N still got dodgy tummy a bit so will be keeping them both off school tomorrow. I don't mind them being off when they're ill and subdued but they're not, they're bouncing off the walls going stir crazy with being cooped up and I'm feeling too rubbish to keep up with them!

Northernlurker · 11/01/2009 19:47

WE are off to Mull - of course. We always go to Mull and I absilutely love it. Love it in the rain, and love, love, love it in the sun - which we do get quite a lot of.

Northernlurker · 11/01/2009 19:48

Northernlurker · 11/01/2009 20:01

We will indeed pass Glasgow - probably at about 9.30pm on a Friday night on the way to pil in Perthshire for the night then Mull the next day - but if you're thinking meet up GM you'll have to let me know and I'll see what we can do - would freak dh out a bit though
