Here's a new thread especially for Kate79.

(she couldn't access the old one).

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
SusiS · 29/01/2005 17:24

hahaha helsy, yes, we deff get the 'man flu' in this house wink - oh and yes, veeeeery serious!!

had a quite busy day today; we've been out today to sort out a few things in the other house. soon it can go on the market wohoooo

atm dp is asleep, lucas is chewing on the phone cable (a not connected one) and chicken roast is in the oven - gosh, i am starving! due to all that running about i didn't have anything yet; well, a banana and tea

Libb · 29/01/2005 18:32

Helsy, thank you. That is really sweet to know you have been thinking about me. We are still not completely on even keel but I know I am made of stern stuff when the occasion calls so who knows what will happen? Whatever, DS is my priority.

When I was 23 I went to Italy on my own to stay with a penfriend, we hated each other because he din't like the fact that I wasn't some slapper just out there for a sure thing. He had the nerve to tell me that he had met some nice English girls in Ibiza that were nothing like me, they were not so "uptight" and apparently Mr Motivator was there too. Therein lies the sadness of the whole situation!

Physically I was a size 10/12 and mentally playing with the idea of doing an arts degree so I could restore paintings in a fantastic old museum somewhere. My dad convinced me the money was dire and that is why, 8 years on, I am now an admin officer with one failed marriage and a ton of debts to sort out (not that I can blame my Dad for the last two!). I think I am a lucky old soul really (even with the recent skirmishes with DP).

I am also dead chuffed that I had my DS in May because this is one of my all time favourite threads

Bozza · 29/01/2005 22:12

LOL Libb - I'm glad you had him in May too. Aren't we all sounding old, going on about what we did when we were 23. BTW it was 8 years ago for me too. I hold you responsible for this Cat!

Helsy DH definitely gets man flu and I think DS seems to have started with it. Hope you enjoy your night out.

OP posts:
Judd · 29/01/2005 22:27

I'm all excited about the 23 conversation because I think Helsy is older than me
Mind you, if DS keeps on with 4am pukage, I'll be looking at least 100 by the end of the week! Poor little sausage, he really seems to be holding onto this bug, whereas I'm hoping I've had it and got rid of it quickly.
DH sings in the northern arm of a national choir - they have got a "Sing Swing" concert on at the Bridgwater Hall in Manch tomorrow night and he's got to dress up in 40's gear.
DD's new favourite pastime is "teaching baby Ollie wrong words". I keep finding her sitting with him, popping up the mouse on his hide and seek game, and solemnly saying "Moo Moo". She thinks it's hilarious (and so does he!)
Oooh and christening was lovely. Loads of people in our church and then we had a buffet lunch in the hall afterwards. Had to take DS home for a sleep halfway through (also worried about what looked like conjunctivitis starting off) but I'd already got a babysitter on standby so as not to interrupt my buffet table onslaught . So I spent one night this week at the Trafford Centre taking back clothes that DS got as presents which were too small (yep - 9-12 months is too much of a squeezy squish squash for him!). However he also got the most gorgeous Christian books with jigsaws, jiggling hamster, and lift the flaps - very impressed by his "haul" indeed !!

Linnet · 29/01/2005 22:44

Hey everyone. Wow, 23 I have recollections of being 23. I had dd1 who was 3, I was a stay at home mum and I was doing a home college course. Since we're sharing clothes sizes I was and still am a size 10.

Life here is ok. We've all got horrible colds. Dd1 had it first and has given it to all of us. So dd2 has now had her very first cold and her very first temperature. So she's not been sleeping very well at nights but she's getting better now. Of course I now have the cold and so does Dh which is very unusual as he never ever gets colds.

Got another date through for dd2's 8 month check up and if falls on the same day that dd1 has a dentist appointment! Last time it coincided with my dentist appoint. I'm hoping that we'll be finished the check in time to make it to the dentist it's not to far between them so we should be able to make it.

Finally got paid, yeah, this has been a very long month but now I can afford to get my haircut and pay for more driving lessons and put some away for our holiday.

dd2 has finally sussed how to crawl properly but of course it's too slow for her. So, she crawls for a bit then drops down and crawls like a commando across the floor as it's faster. She's not been eating much because of her cold but today she managed to eat a lot more so she must be getting better.

Glad to see you are all doing ok will talk later

Linnet

23?? omg, centuries ago ... hmmm, used to be very sporty () - had my own horse by then and was with him every day! so not much time to do other things; but all the parties happened to be at the stable anyways - oh, and size 12

judd: your christening sounds great

had a good night! ds slept 6.30-6 - woke me at 5 though! we are all up now (even dp ; he came to bed at 2am!) and we are planning on going swimming today!

SusiS · 30/01/2005 14:48

oh my, very diff day today! lucas is not himself today. and haven't still not figured out what it really is
something teething, ear pain, tummy pain, flu symptoms ... dp and i took it on turns to carry him about - we never do that! so far he had maybe 10 min sleep all day; he just won't stay down. gave him some medised 30 min ago and kept carrying him about (omg, such a heavy boy!) - after 10 min i could put him to bed and he is still there! so fingers crossed he catches up on some sleep now, he really needs it!

kbaby · 30/01/2005 17:47

Im going to have to log on more often. I cant beleive how much youve all posted in a week. Ive skimmed the messages so sorry if ive missed anything.
Casmie, I hope your DS is better.
Also I think there were lots of others with colds and bugs(cant remember who though sorry) anyway hope your all feeling better.

Been feeling really sressed this week and shouting at DP all the time. I think working full time is too much. DP works 12hrs a day so hes not around much to help. I also think that because my job is stressful and busy its making me feel worse. I sat down on Friday and worked out the sums to cut my hrs to 3 days a week but id be losing 10k a year which is quite a bit. Im stuck I dont know what to do. Half thinks just cut my hrs and ill soon get used to less money and the other half think struggle on for now until baby no 2 and then cut the hrs. I feel as if my whole weekend is spent visiting nan's, mums, shopping, cleaning and washing. I dont seem to get any time to enjoy doing things with DD.

On a lighter note. Shes got 2 teeth, They came through last friday. Felt a bit guilty as dd was restless and I didnt know why so gave her some calpol and she moaned in her sleep for a bit. Then the next day I find 2 teeth. Poor thing no wonder she was upset.

Katy, re the dummy. DD has one and were also up about 4-6 times putting it in. Although last night she slept from 7pm until 8.45 this morning. She only woke at 4.30 for the dummy. Not sure why but heres hoping its the way forward.

Ok off now as DP'S WATCHING THE RUGBY AND i HAVE TO RESCUE THE CAT FROM BEING DRAGGED ACROSS THE HALL FLOOR BY ITS HEAD.

lucas was a bit brighter in the evening (lots of medicine) and even ate his dinner - mashed carrot/potatos - and his bedtime bottle! skipped the bath though
i finally put him down at 7 and oh my, 50 min later he is awake again!!! not upset though, hope it's only a quick chat to his friends grins
dp offered to stay home to share nightduty - we both think might be a rough one - but oh well, won't be the last one for sure!

oh egypt that sounds like you are having a tough time yourself! hope you figure something out that suits your whole family

kate79 · 30/01/2005 20:26

got a scanm for ds knee tomorrow i'm a bit nervous.

susis-health visiter didn't notice the clicking hip/knee i told her and she said get it checked, maybe you should mention.

thanks for all the advice on the dummy girls i have had a few better nights he is waking crying for a few seconds then as i'm about to crack and go and pick him up he falls back to sleep again.

spots · 30/01/2005 20:28

There is ALWAYS a baby sick on this thread. Poor old Lucas. (Susi, didn't know you were doing house selling stuff... ?) How are yours Casmie?

Like 'man flu' very much. Or at least, I don't... if you know what I mean.

DD has started walking her feet along the ground with proud giant footsteps, when you hold her hands so her weight is supported. And today I found her standing up in her cot .

spots · 30/01/2005 20:29

sorry Kate posts crossed... don't be nervous about the scan. Hope it goes ok.

kate79 · 30/01/2005 20:40

it's ok spots

have got about 2 mins on laptop before battery go, and can't find the charger. so this is the last on from me tonight.

spent the weekend looking at houses there is nothing we want, but got a buyer for our place who wants to move fast! the prospect of moving back to my mums inbetween homes is making me regress to a teen angst state !!!!!!!
goodnight girls. hope everyone gets a good night with there little monsters. lots of love xxxxxxxxx

Casmie · 30/01/2005 20:41

To be honest, we're all a bit knackered here, although better than we were.

Ds2 has a bit of the snots and grots (coming to the tail end with very runny nose and a bit grumpy and tired) BUT he's stopped waking in the night thanks to mummy and daddy putting their foot down about him having lots of cuddles if he doesn't settle immediately!

Ds1 is as right as rain apart from a bit of a residual cough now and then.

Dh is still pretty rough but out of the temperature stage and just in the exhausted/sore throat/hacking cough stage.

I bypassed the high temps altogether and just went for the latter stages but my asthma is aggravated - controlled under medication, but the buzz the meds give me means I cannot sleep under their influence so I'm back to shattered.

The end is in sight though.

Sorry to hear other babies are feeling poorly - hope all are better soon.

Kate - good luck for the scan tomorrow! hugs

helsy · 30/01/2005 21:02

OOh, JUST sat down. Boo (dd2) fell asleep on the bottle so I expect another wakeful night. She came in with us again last night, but as she's had a bad cold since at least Christmas I feel cruel letting her cry for too long even though I know we're getting into bad habits. Dd1 is in trouble as she threw a toy at dd2's face today, so no cbeebies for three days (she decided on that one) and no friends coming to play for a week.
Judd, I'm thirty ten! August 2004.
Spots - very impressed with your Amazing Walking Baby.

egypt · 30/01/2005 21:30

hi all.
its been a nightmare getting online the last couple of days.....so whilst the going's good, i'll say, casmie, hope you are all back to normal soon and you manage to get some sleep. kate good luck with the scan, spots, wow walking ! dd holds on hands but doesnt take steps yet.
kbaby, sorry you feel like your life is such a rush. bless you.
and anyone else feeling down....

we're on a good footing at the moment and i dont want to jinx it, but dd woke at 520 last night. if she doesnt finish her bedtime bottle i give the rest to her when she wakes. she goes through until 8 after her one wake up. the night before it was 230 mind then until 8 so there really is no saying when she will wake, but she will! fingers crossed it continues.

lots of love xxx

Judd · 30/01/2005 22:01

Well, here's hoping for our first vomit-free day....the washing machine doesn't know what's going on! DS is back on fine form, smiling and flirting with all and sundry at church this morning - little poppet. DH has made loads of lovely AK recipes so I've been busy finding things to freeze them in for most of the evening. Now it's time for ironing and Two Pints of Lager. During a slack moment (playing Snap with DD) I calculated that it's exactly 100 days until DS is 1 - blimey. See - SAHM and mind still sharp as a razor blade
Helsy - shock age revelation! You don't sound a day over 39, honestly

egypt · 30/01/2005 22:08

thats good news helsy. and your dh cooking! wow

SusiS · 31/01/2005 07:55

so, that night's over. and what a night. lucas woke every hour! not really upset luckily, just needed help with lost dummy/too hot/too cold/on tummy and at 4am i had to top him up with medicine - he was glowing hot!!! had his morning bottle and is enjoying cbeebees grins and is playing with his toys. so much brighter this morning

SusiS · 31/01/2005 07:56

but a very tired mummy

SusiS · 31/01/2005 08:48

oh wow, it's the last of january already!! where did the time go?? we won't go baby signing today, don't really put lucas through that, i rather give him another day rest! - well, and i might need some rest myself!
might get my oh so long promised bath!! it's just so diff sometimes to fit that in. well, mostly because i like to take my time once i am having my bath - can be anything up to an hour (good book, nice drink!)

egypt · 31/01/2005 11:48

mmmmmmm, long hot baths...........

dd was a bit weird last night too. she woke at 930 for a grumble, didnt go in, 1030 for a cuddle, 1130 for a drink, slept until 430....drink....then until 8. not so bad but not the best. anyway, 2 out of 3 aint bad, so hopefully we're on the straight and narrow.

how is everyone today? just been to mothercare and bought one of those back seat mirrors so you can see your babe whilst driving. (rear facing car seat).. it is so funny. dd loves it. she can see mummy too

off to mum's for a few days next week and dont like not being able to see dd whilst driving on my own.

egypt · 31/01/2005 11:56
