nicky6 · 28/03/2008 22:14

just a quick hi - went out tonight fo rthe first time by myself and left dh in charge. Arrived home at 9.30 dinner saved for me and charlie bottled bathed and in bed fast asleep since 7 marvellous.

anyway have to go

gingeme · 28/03/2008 22:15

Yey for dh. Lucky you Nicky6. x

madmouse · 29/03/2008 11:42

Quite jealous of those good sleepers, although Nathan seems to have laid off the fun and games at 5am for now. We have just come out on the other end of a growth spurt, so that may have been it. The night before last he did 11.30 til 3, then 3.30 til 7.45! that me and my boobs were awake waiting for him since 6.30 , last night he did 11.10 til 2 and 2.20 til 5.20, slept through his medication at 6.30 (manages to purse his lips against the syringe anyway) and started messing about at 7am, wanting a feed every hour. Routine???. I cannot captivate starting bedtime at 7, he is normally screaming by then with colic, although it is getting better.

gingeme · 29/03/2008 11:58

Morning ladies. Most babys don't settle to a routine till about 3 months old anyway so you just have to play it by ear for a while. Thats what I have found anyway.
George had a funny night too. Slept from 7.30 - 1am had abottle then slept 2-5.30 another bottle and slept till 7 where dh got him and other ds's up so I had a bit of a lay in. Trouble is I don't feel any better for it
Ah well have to keep telling muself its not forever and I most definately won't be doing it again
Mind you the smiles and gurgles out weigh the sleeplessness. Wouldn't you agree

Fragolina · 29/03/2008 13:44

I agree gingeme - the gurgles definitely outweigh the sleeplessness! ANd really we only have a few more weeks to go until the 3month mark. Can't believe how fast the time has gone.

I have bought myself a pair of earplugs, and told DH he is in charge of the night shift. Have ebm ready for him, and will sterilise the breastpump and have it ready in case I'm in danger of exploding during the night....so excited at the prospect of sleeping ALL NIGHT LONG!

Beller - the new man sounds lovely, am so glad Thats a shame about George's dad though, and it really is his loss.

Housemum · 29/03/2008 13:53

Morning! (oops, afternoon - time flying by as usual!)

Have just about hit the magic 3 months - DD3 now 12 weeks old, 3 calendar months on Thurs. It's my birthday and she gave me a great presenet - she slept from midnight to 5.30 - the longest stretch we've had yet!!! What an angel!!!

Had BRILLIANT b'day present from DH yesterday - lunch at The Waterside as it's my (shhh, whisper) 40th (pass the walking frame...)

Routine is still not happening but I was pretty laid back with the other 2 and routines sort of worked themselves out (suppose I'm a bit of a baby whisperer in that I make my routines fit what they seem to want to do rather than trying to impose it strictly at the start) We may be turning a corner...

Housemum · 29/03/2008 13:55

Great conversation overheard:

DD2 "Daddy, when I grow up I'm going to be a doctor in Disneyland and if you're ill you can come and see me"

DH " but they don't have doctors in Disney"

DD2 "I know that of course, I'm going to be the first one"

gingeme · 29/03/2008 15:41

Bless your DD2 housemum they come out with some great stuff don't they?
HAPPY BIRTHDAY love sounds like its a good one so far.
Were all still in our pjs here. Doesnt happen often but I just couldnt be bothered. Dh going to work soon so he's going to have to get dressed
Well nothing very exciting to report realy. xx

AngeChica · 29/03/2008 16:39

Fluffy at Tamara sleeping through ... how old is she now? Last night I tanked Alek up with extra EBM after his 11pm feed - he settled really easily and he slept for 5 hours, I cannot remember when I last had 5 hours straight. he is only 8.5 weeks so I think I must be patient for him to sleep longer in the next few weeks. Wiating for the magic 12 weeks eh Gingeme

I can only do the topping up every few days as it takes me that long to get the EBM together!

We had a hectic morning, took turns to clean up shambolic house while other took LO out in pram, as we had a viewing on our house, first on in over 2 months. We still have an offer standing on the house we saw just before Alek was born but cannot proceed until we sell this one.

LO had so much fresh air has been crashed out most of the afternoon. DH, LO, me and dog were all just snoozing on the sofa for the last hour!

Hello Beller!

Happy birthday Housemum!

Wow Fragolina that sounds amazing - a night of sleep .

If you search MN on BW you can find out response of Tiktok and other BF experts re BF I think.

those who mentioned LOs not interested in toys / playmats etc, I have seen a massive change in Alek just over the last week or so, I can put him on his playgym now or in his cot under mobile and he will be entertained for 20 mins stretches, still not so keen on chair but I can put him in his car seat while I do things in the kitchen. You think it will never happen but it does!

katyt1 · 29/03/2008 19:41

hi all

housemum - happy birthday
lol at your dd

ange - hope the house viewing goes/went well. i went shopping at lunchtime and left dh in charge. came back to find ds1 napping beautifully in his room and ds2 crashed out on dh who was also asleep. things stayed that way for nearly 2 hours i got lots done and even started on the papers/crosswords ok so i shd have slept but hey.
oh and ds2 is getting into the playmat thing too. laughs at his cot mobile and loves looking at black and white bits on toys.

gingeme - dressed yet ?
meant to ask is the transport museum worth a visit even if not free? think ds1 would like it? (22mo now and does love trains/tractors/trucks/etc.)
and hmm at your gp. i've been given a prescription and there was no talk about it bringing on af, purely for contraception. confused? and only cos you've said, but yes i'm am SO premenstrual atm. poor dh thought it was just sleep deprivation but even with a few extra hours, thanks to dh, still as snappy as ever. and low energy levels, it all makes sense. will get to chemist on mon.

fragolina - best of luck, hope you get a brilliant nights sleep

madmouse - sorry to hear nathan is still struggling with colic, hope it eases at the 12 wk/3mo mark.

henry slept 7-3.30 last night then didn't really settle until after another feed at 4.30 (having woken ds1 by screaming all of a sudden). but the long sleep is getting longer every day. only a bit longer to go to get to ds1's morning get up time of 5ish!!
hope the clocks changing will help...

wine calling...

madmouse · 29/03/2008 20:07

Nathan has been crying lots today. Not sure why, he has not slept much, so maybe he is over tired. He did manage to kick his legs in the bath and enjoy it this morning, which is a first. He is grouching at dh at the moment.

Feeling hot bothered and tired. Sometimes that means lo and I make each other more hot and bothered, anyone else has that? I hope he sleeps.

Don't forget the clocks changing. We have decided to take the opportunity to change Nathan's meds to 7.30am and pm. We had left it at 6 and 6 as in hospital (although in practice it has become 6.30) because we were worried about giving him critical meds while colicky, but it is actually easy to get it in when his mouth is wide open already .

beller · 29/03/2008 21:15

hi again,

Misedmama - i cant believe you had to get the bus!!! Thats outrageous!

Gingme - it must be something about Georges, He waked up around that time too..has gone thru the night a couple of times, but not on a regular basis!

Madmouse - George has been a bit more tearful the last couple of nights too

Thanks for all the best wishes re new man! Must admit its hard work dating with a young baby, but hes worth it . Hes coming round for dinner tomorrow night and really looking forward to seein him

Hope everyone is having a good weekend, George has been in bed since 8 o clock, we will see how long it lasts! xx

gingeme · 29/03/2008 21:18

Evening ladies.
madmouse George has been grouchy today too. Yes with you on the making eachother hot.
katy1 I thought the museum was brill. If a bit packed but we still got to see everything and there are loads of buses and trains for lo's to climb on and try out
I got a playmat for George from Ebay and he just loves it. In fact all the boys play with it which I think makes it all the more entertaining for George. I put him down on it today for a bit popped into the kitchen to get ds3 a drink and he had turned round the other way
He keeps turning onto his side now too.
Very clever little fella

beller · 29/03/2008 21:26

have uploaded a couple of recent pics of George xx

gingeme · 29/03/2008 21:39

I like the top one beller. He looks as if he is waving

nicky6 · 29/03/2008 21:55

Hi all well not only was dh great last night but charlie went down at 6.45 (by dh) and slept til 3am then fed straight back down til 7am - hooray.

However mega poos today so i doubt i will be so lucky. thanks for reminder re clocks had completetly forgotten.

Checked out nurseries in my area as was told waiting lists etc, one of them has a waiting list of 2 years that means you have to put name down before you conceive??? How on earth does that work.
Beller - nice to hear from you - did you look into setting up nursery in the end I am thinking of doing the same.

barristermum - are you going back? and what are you planning to do re childcare - its a tricky one.

must dash
lots of hugs and sleep wishes

Naetha · 29/03/2008 22:37

Hello all, sorry I haven't been on for a while, you know how it is!

Ben's doing great, lots of smiles, a bit of laughter and loads of babbling! We had to give up watching a TV programme because he was babbling all the way through it!

Sleep wise he's settled into his routine fairly well. Often it's a challenge keeping him awake / not overtired until 6:30, but then he's usually fast asleep after having a good 5-6oz by 7:30. We then usually wake him up for a dream feed at about 11, then he'll sleep until 3am, then usually wakes about 5:30 / 6am with wind or poos. If it's a weekend, I'll take him into bed with us and he usually falls asleep on my chest, during the week I'll take him downstairs for some chillout time. A couple of times over the last week he hasn't really wanted anything to eat between 11 and 7, sometimes only taking in a couple of ounces. Having said that, sometimes he'll take 6oz at his 3am feed! Hopefully he'll start to ease up on the feeding at night and we can drop a feed and for the first time in about 5 months I can sleep for longer than 4 hours!

Anyway, his majesty calls...

Naetha · 29/03/2008 23:15

Well he's just had his dream feed - unfortunately he's only taking 3-4oz, and that's with constant waking up - he usually takes about 2oz himself before falling fast asleep again.

We've graduated from the swaddling to the grobag without too many problems - thankfully his moro reflex isn't too bad any more, and he will suck his fingers to soothe himself. He still flails on occasion, but it's usually just a case of using the baby whisperer technique of pick up, put down until he settles.

Took DS swimming for the first time last week, and he absolutely loved it. SPent the whole time looking around at everything going on around him and occasionally splashing - hopefully can take him every week.

Things are finally back on track with me and DH in the bedroom department (DS moving out of our bedroom made a big difference!) The only problem now is that we were a little hasty and didn't use protection both times, so hopefully Ben won't have a little sibling just yet . Hopefully the fact I'm still expressing nearly all his feeds and haven't had a period yet will mean we're safe! I feel like a bit of a muppet after giving the healthcare professionals dirty looks when they mentioned contraception!

I have complete baby brain at the moment - I'm sure I had lots to say and ask, but entirely forgotten...ah well never mind! Right, off to bed while I get the chance!

Naetha · 29/03/2008 23:33

Oh, and am I being overindulgent to buy this? He loves to bounce when we hold him around his waist, but don't really have any handy doorways in which he could use a bouncer... It's expensive, but looks good

Any thoughts?

lilyloo · 30/03/2008 08:51

Gingeme love the pic

Beller lovely to see you back shame about George's dad but guess you didn't expect anyting different. His loss anyway and hope things work out with nm and George feels better soon.

Barristermum no don't hear anything from MrsMc anymore Cerys sounds great what a good girl am ver of her sleep.

MMama glad to hear things improving with dh hope he understands where your coming from and things can get better fo you.

Fluffy hope you can start getting a sense of normality back soon. What a good girl Tamara has been for you though that must have helped.

Amani poor you sending you ((((hugs)))) feel free to post if you want any virtual support with things. Hoping you have got a little more sleep last night.

Katy well done on gettng into the size 14 you will get there it just takes time as they say 9 moths on 9 months off. It isn't good though esp for relationship when you feeling down on your self. Although the bf has helped me get to pre preg size it hasn't got rid of saggy post 3 dc's belly and don't think it will so am having to get use to that. Although dp now given up smoking since last Oct and has put on over 2 stone so he is the one on dit in our house so don't feel too bad i guess.

Frag hope you had the full night sleep you wee looking forward to am very was thinking it prob been at least 6 months since i slept through the night, prob same for most of us

Housemum happy birthday sounds like you had a lovely day , any nice pressies ?

Ange hope the house viewing went well!

Beller hope mealgoes well tonight.

Nicky good luck on getting nursery place it really is stressful getting them in one esp the one you like. I shouldn't be too bad this time as dd1 still in nursery so Martha should get a place.

That looks good Naetha. Can't imagine getting pg so soon after having a baby, although my neighbour got pg when her lo was 3 mths so it could happen and she was bf!

Well Martha doing ok here she still waking for two feeds but quickly goes back to sleep so happy with that as she is still bf. Can't believe she 11 weeks already

Anyone know anything about kushties ? I bought one for Martha to take her swimming but am unsure whether she can wear this on it's own or needs another nappy or something underneath?

Hope everyone has nice day today we have nothing planned other than a party for dd1 seems like we have on every weekend, good job i don't attempt to have a social life

I wish I had a video of what just happened. No wonder Nathan is doing so well, talking about determined...

He was doing that thing that he does in the morning of wanting to snack every hour. After the second time I went nooo and dived under the covers. DH took Nathan in bed and put him on his chest. Nathan then started to push shove wriggle and crawl off my dh onto me and just when dh said 'If I did not know better I would think that...' he latched on to my arm! Right, baby gets what baby wants (an expression borrowed from midwife on the observation ward on day one when I said I think he wants to feed, she said no he doe snot need to but when he latched on it was clear he did )

Good to see you Naetha. Hello Nicky and Lily

Oh wow madmouse its amazing what they can do. Always reminds me of when I was having a bath with ds4 and he wriggled up my tummy to my brest and started feeding. They are briliant arent they?
Neatha that looks fantastic. Let me know what its like when you get it and I might get one(don't tell dh )

Naetha · 30/03/2008 19:51

That montage is gorgeous Gingeme

Jumperoo was a total hit, although tired him out rapidly - he was manic in it for about 20 minutes then cried until we took him out because it was too overstimulating.

Looking forwards to it giving me a rest soon!
