took ds1 on holiday when he was 11 weeks. it is easy, very easy, with a baby, as food safety not an issue for them directly. on our first trip he fed and slept on the plane out, fed, slept and cried on plane back, but it was ok, they have such little cries at this age. looked around him on the helicopter transfer, twas me who needed hand holding for that one. staff in hotel very sweet about bringing the babysitter of us two their food, other parent had glorious reading/chatting eating time alone. very worth taking plenty of muslins to hot country - they are shade, bed sheet, all sorts. ditto take a sheepskin, you can then plonk baby down anywhere to sleep properly and it helps temp regulation.
is tricker once they pass 18 months, with need for toys etc to be packed, not fitting in cots, not being quite ready for grown bed. did have one wonderfdul trip though to lake bohinj in slovenia at that age, cooler weather, pristine environment but european enough to rave over our child, as opposed to doing the british sniff at his existence...
and fn41, don't miss the maldives, honest! i no-no'd a recent sri lanka trip, because for our kiddies used to these climes, the heat and humidity is a struggle. mind you so is air con, don't forget to pack warm clothes for air con!
god i wish we had something booked but dp endlessly busy, may manage another norfolk or north devon week later in the year. love that sort of break now, suits us all. we are actually consdiering using the take a nanny on holiday company as well, as its me and dp who need to rest.
i'm a wee bit pished. i've had a glass and a half of merlot. how did i end up on computer (looks bemused and goes back to previous thing)
