i'd go the non-perv route on facebook too, fn41

turtle23 · 23/05/2008 16:32

facebook sounds good. I'm on there but have no idea how to make a closed group..

fitnfortyone · 23/05/2008 16:41

HAve just tried one, called Marchmums if anyone wants to try finding it? It's set as closed so approval has to be given to join...have sent Merry an invite as she's already on my friends list, so anyone want to test it for holes fire ahead!

fitnfortyone · 23/05/2008 16:42

not "tried", have set up

fitnfortyone · 23/05/2008 16:43

oh, and might be a good idea to put your MN alias somewhere obvious if it lets you?

turtle23 · 23/05/2008 16:46

just searched it...can't find it. please send me an invite? I'm on Merry's friends, have a baby as my pic and turtle in my name. x

turtle23 · 23/05/2008 16:50

merryberry · 23/05/2008 16:56

fitnfortyone · 23/05/2008 16:57

fitnfortyone · 23/05/2008 16:58

MMH hope you don't mind me jumping your gun like that...

merryberry · 23/05/2008 17:03

lookee, can we have a relevant object picture for the group ID picture fn41? how about this silver rattle for their baby days? you know where i mean, top right hand corner?

littleducks · 23/05/2008 17:04

oh dear wondered how long it woyuld be before it got too technical for me! facebook sounds complicated.

also feel like teriible mum as obv havent taken anywhere near as many pics of ds as i did of dd, prob have 25 tops, oops! i did get prof pics taken at toddlers last week of the pair of them but got proofs yesterday and they are rubbish! dd wouldnt really pose as asked then ds started crying and they look like photos iwould delete if i took them on digi camera.

went shopping in lakeside yesterday, NOT A GREAT TRIP, managed to restrain and entertain dd with colouring in buggy but ds cries most of the time, i should know by know not to wake a sleeping baby, i thought i would wake feed then shop but IT DID NOT WORK! Did get some delicious popcorn though, trying to resist it atm. And some lovely french babygros, but my brain is fried as i couldnt translate some slogans in there but shopgirls didnt have a clue either just said it wasnt going to be offensive!

merryberry · 23/05/2008 17:08

yikes, i am drooling into keyboard. that's not popcorn that's porncorn.

phwoar!

HolidaysQueen · 23/05/2008 19:04

Oh FN41 - what a great idea. I am a facebook addict (when I'm not being a mumsnet addict). Just sent a request to join the group. HQ x
P.S. What a sweet little boy you have - he has such expressive eyes!

turtle23 · 23/05/2008 20:09

Am trying to get my head round going to bed at 9. DH is away for a week so why am I awake while DS sleeps for his 6 hour block? Have realised to my amazement that it is much easier without DH around as I know it's all up to me and dont get disappointed when I ask him to help and he wont.
Is anyone else considering going on holiday with their baby? Cant believe how many places are baby-friendly and fully equipped!

fitnfortyone · 23/05/2008 20:20

ok, page updated...anyone else want to be an admin in case i get run over by a bus while wearing dirty underwear?

Ooh, that popcorn looks good...but not sure if it'll taste as good as it looks, won't the choc deaden the crunch?

HolidaysQueen · 23/05/2008 20:23

hi turtle - Oooh holidays - my favourite thing! We've got a holiday booked for mid-June in a villa in Majorca for two weeks. It's equipped with baby stuff and has lots of space for all the stuff we'll probably bring that we won't use. My big worry with hotels is what you do with the baby in the evening - when the baby is sleeping are you meant to just sit in the dark with no tv??? But then again, I wouldn't want to use babysitting services every night either. We have both sets of grandparents coming for a few days at either end in Majorca, so they can be our babysitting service

So we'll see how self-catering goes first and if that goes well, we're may do a trip in November as well and will probably go back to the Red Sea and stay in a hotel which we know is really good for babies and small children.

And then if we have any money left in our holidays account , and if the baby is well behaved on planes, we might try a long haul trip next Feb just before I'm due back at work!

turtle23 · 23/05/2008 20:26

HQ- We're defo going back to where we stayed in Egypt in January prob next march, but need something closer to home for this autumn...which company did you go to for villa?

fitnfortyone · 23/05/2008 20:27

turtle, we're planning to go to LA in Feb, which is far enough away not to make me panic about going on hol! At the moment I can't go over to stay with my parents as we need photo id for a flight (and I'd have to take the car seat as well as the xplory since they have nothing over there). Could go by ferry but not sure if need photoid again (so long since i travelled that way) and the journey is too damn long for me to drive myself. DH still hasn't passed his test.

I got loads of brochures while waiting for the birth to keep me occupied, was gutted to find out you can't have babies in the little huts on stilts in the maldives! Obviously you're only allowed to make the babies there

turtle23 · 23/05/2008 20:28

Oh and am going home to Vancouver at some point..when I'm brave enough as it will just be me and DS on the plane! Eek!

turtle23 · 23/05/2008 20:32

fnf1-Why no photo id? You'll have to do the passport thing sooner or later?

fitnfortyone · 23/05/2008 20:44

yeah, we'll be getting him a passport, i just think it's crap that you need photo id to fly on a domestic flight, and passports are not the cheapest! Poor mite'll be 5 and still wandering round with a passport photo where he's only a couple of months old

merryberry · 23/05/2008 20:56

took ds1 on holiday when he was 11 weeks. it is easy, very easy, with a baby, as food safety not an issue for them directly. on our first trip he fed and slept on the plane out, fed, slept and cried on plane back, but it was ok, they have such little cries at this age. looked around him on the helicopter transfer, twas me who needed hand holding for that one. staff in hotel very sweet about bringing the babysitter of us two their food, other parent had glorious reading/chatting eating time alone. very worth taking plenty of muslins to hot country - they are shade, bed sheet, all sorts. ditto take a sheepskin, you can then plonk baby down anywhere to sleep properly and it helps temp regulation.

is tricker once they pass 18 months, with need for toys etc to be packed, not fitting in cots, not being quite ready for grown bed. did have one wonderfdul trip though to lake bohinj in slovenia at that age, cooler weather, pristine environment but european enough to rave over our child, as opposed to doing the british sniff at his existence...

and fn41, don't miss the maldives, honest! i no-no'd a recent sri lanka trip, because for our kiddies used to these climes, the heat and humidity is a struggle. mind you so is air con, don't forget to pack warm clothes for air con!

god i wish we had something booked but dp endlessly busy, may manage another norfolk or north devon week later in the year. love that sort of break now, suits us all. we are actually consdiering using the take a nanny on holiday company as well, as its me and dp who need to rest.

i'm a wee bit pished. i've had a glass and a half of merlot. how did i end up on computer (looks bemused and goes back to previous thing)

turtle23 · 23/05/2008 20:56

fnf1-you could always get him a fake id lol

e14mum · 23/05/2008 21:03

Going to Toronto in September with just me and dd... eek is right!
