If it was broken it would probably have bled and be very sore. I would think it would have bruised very quickly too.

Octothechildherder · 09/02/2008 10:57

Morning

Hope you are all okay - esp POTCs nose!

We ran out of formula last night so gave ernie cows milk and he hoofed it down much easier than formula. He also didn't cry afterwards which he has been doing with the aptimil and he completely refuses Cow & Gate - hence the cows milk (had bought some Cow & Gate instead). I have started a thread about it and about mixing cows milk anf forumla in the same bottle. I am thinking of changing to cows milk if he prefers it - he has a really good diet and eats well so not worried about the nutrition side of it.

Oooggs - how are yours getting on with cows milk?

Boys at football and ernie asleep - off for a shower!

mammyjo · 09/02/2008 11:00

Hi Octo You can mix formula and cows milk if you want to, but if he took to the cows milk straight away anyway then I wouldnt really worry about doing that. If he is having a good diet then he should be ok without the extra iron in the formula, and if it suits his tummy better then it sounds like its the way to go!

mammyjo · 09/02/2008 11:02

It is sometimes mixed as some children just dont like the taste, and so gradually introducing it by disguising it often works. Not something I would do as it just means more hassle of still making formula up!

Octothechildherder · 09/02/2008 11:03

Cheers mammyjo - I forgot to say how lovely your ds was last week. When we were having lunch someone had moved his shoes a bit - he went over, did up the velcro and put them neatly back next to eachother - it was very cute! Mine would never do that!

Bugger - ernie awake - argghhhh

mammyjo · 09/02/2008 11:11

Bless him! Shame he is not so particular about things being tidy in the house though!

mammyjo · 09/02/2008 11:13

F is asleep and has been for 1.5 hours. She was very grizzly first thing this morning which was obviously because she was tired, but she never does this. She felt really clammy during the night too. Hoping she isnt coming down with something else now, she wouldnt eat her breakfast either. There is always something!

mammyjo · 09/02/2008 11:14

Octo, I think I saw your ds2 briefly as he ran past me several times! My ds had a fab time there and keeps asking me when are we going back!

Sexonlegs · 09/02/2008 12:21

There is always something is my brother's motto!

Hope F is ok.

K seems a bit grizzly today; hoping once her lunch had settled she will have a big nap and be brighter.

runnyhabbit · 09/02/2008 13:20

Feeling sooooo tired today

W woke up at 12.30am, on/off crying/grizzling and did not go back to sleep until about 4am
At one point I actually took him out for a drive and wandered around Tesco (think it was about 2am) Fell asleep in the car, was still asleep until I led him in his cot, when he started screaming again.
Finally put him in his pushchair downstairs, stuck the tv on low, and I slept on the settee.
He woke up crying at 6.30, and had done the biggest poo ever, all through his nappy, vest and sleepsuit. Of course, our bathroom is still out of action, so had to strip him off and sit him in the kitchen sink (and our kitchen isn't the warmest)
Even after we cleaned him up, he still wouldn't sleep (and dh had to work this morning) so I was left with both of them, because by this time J had woken up. Thank goodness for Thomas! Stuck that on and the 3 of us curled up under the duvet on the settee.
Been down to my mums for a shower and tlc, but still haven't been able to rest properly. Dh is home now and has just gone to pick the boys up from mum.
I'm so tired, but my mind is racing. Just can't seem to switch off. And I really hope that this is the last of his virus. Just wondering if the dr was right? or should he have had ab's? Who knows?

Plus, had a leaflet through the door saying that our water will be cut from 8am til 11pm on Monday for "essential mains work" Rang the helpline number and asked if they we're actually going to be working til 11 at night. And apparently, yes, they are So not only will we not have water - chances are we won't get any sleep either. FFS.

Sorry for the whinge

CaptainDippy · 09/02/2008 13:39

Hello SOL Birthday Buddy !!

P is on full fat cow's milk here.

Can't remember anything, am ill Kept waking up last night feeling dizzy and sick; and now just thrown up into my dinner Off to bed, but feeling guilty at leaving DH with girls.

@ Joe knocking you out, POTC - Hope you are ok.

My bra size is 32GG BIG mamas!

StealthPolarBear · 09/02/2008 14:46

oh no everyone seems ill or injured!
runny at the water being off as well

mammyjo · 09/02/2008 14:53

Big mamas indeed CD!! Dont feel guilty for leaving the girls with dh, he is their dad after all! Hope you manage to get some rest xxx

Runny, you poor thing, that night sounds hideous. Hope you get some respite at your mums. Having the water turned off for so long is ridiculous. Are they not giving you bottled water to cover you for the day? If not, then I would want to know how they suggest I look after my baby, change dirty nappies and make up feeds. A couple of hours is one thing, but all day is ludicrous They would be getting a rather ranty phone call from me I think! {{{{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}} to you xxx

SPB, is T sleeping better now?

mammyjo · 09/02/2008 14:56

And thankfully, F seems fine this afternoon. Think she was just tired this morning and needed some extra sleep, phew!

oooggs · 09/02/2008 15:52

cows milk fine here octo but have been doing mixed formula 7oz & cows milk 3oz from about 8 months. Now straight cows milk.

You ok ellie - how's the nose?

runny - that sounds dreadful hope you get some rest

hi mj, sol, katy, caz & dippy and everyone else

CaptainDippy · 09/02/2008 17:58

Bluergh - feeling a bit better, made DH take older 2 out for a walk so got an hour's rest; but he forgot his keys so was hammering on the door and phoning the house The back door was open!!!! Rah!! Then we went to the local children's bookshop / cafe for some sandwiches as I just couldn't bear being in the house any longer - the girls have been so tired and grumpsome today.

Hope everyone else has had a better day than me. Sigh.

Sexonlegs · 09/02/2008 18:10

Oh CD, hope you feel ok and don't have a bug - all you need!

Hope everyone has had a good day. All very quiet on here - you all got lives??

elkiedee · 09/02/2008 18:51

CD and RH, sorry to hear you're both having such a rough time. grrr at your water company, RH.

We got to Ilkley safely this afternoon, D really seemed to enjoy the train journey - he was quite a handful as he was bouncing around most of the time but roared with laughter, and we had a table to ourselves as you can specify 3 table seats and the 4th person found herself somewhere else to sit - much to my relief as I'm not sure how we would have kept D off her nice hot coffee.

We went to visit the people who used to live two doors along from us in Leeds when I was a kid. Their youngest son who's about my age was there as well with 4 of his 5 daughters, he was telling us about his business, he's done really well for himself running after school clubs. I'm glad for him as he struggled at school with his dyslexia. But I can't believe how much like his dad he looks now. My mum enjoyed showing off her grandson (well, she's had to wait a long time for him).

oooggs · 09/02/2008 19:04

Oooggs, poor little Erin. Hope she will settle for you. Would you try her with some more water later, or has she managed to keep some fluids down today? Have just remembered that I didnt post that veg lasagne recipe for you, do you still want it?

Things are a bit manic here atm - have started supply teaching but childcare a nightmare - my dad coming next week to help out! bless him - though we may get to go out on Valentines Night for the first time in 7 years

We are having chicken with pesto and pancetta - slice open a chicken breast, fill with pesto (or anything really) then wrap around the pancetta - takes 5 mins - chuck in oven - we are having salad with ours.

Have wine, boys up in bed and silence is all around! Off to see if there are any good films on tonight

Catch up later
