Here we go! (or should I say here wii go!?). I'll try doing a link too...

Incidentally, I had a dream last night that Cerys suddenly learnt how to blow proper raspberries! Don't know where it came from but it could be that she has been trying since she was about 4 weeks old and did it entirely by accident yesterday!

don't worry he didn't take it personally and he is very in touch with his feminine side. he went to yoga today wearing a pink hat.
he was born on 15th sept - but I know what you mean about losing count of the weeks.

I get him weighed as in the run up to weaning whilst he is still putting on
6oz+ a week from bf i'm not concerned about changing anything.
is anyone else going to bf past 6 months. I want to do 12 months until I go back to work.

I am knackered too, ever since Anna started sleeping in the evenings (which is bliss) she is now waking up earlier and earlier in the morning despite feeding at 10.30/11. This morning she woke at 4.53am and didn't go back to sleep until 6am by which time my boys were up and shrieking. I just can't cope with less than 6 hrs sleep - yawn!

I am thinking about trying a bottle of formula at 10.30pm to see if that helps lo sleep a bit longer, she is 4 mths tomorrow and I don't really want to wean until at least 5 months. (But I might start pureeing some food soon, quite exciting really )

But good news is that DH gets the frame and pins removed from his broken leg on 28th Feb - hurrah!!! less than 6 weeks . Unfortunately he is in a bit more pain today but hopefully just healing pains .

kelmcd · 18/01/2008 12:21

Arben has also forgotten what sleep is and when the appropriate time to do it is, certainly not during the night! Me too am a walking zombie today, dont know what is going on but thinking he defo showing signs of needing a little extra on top of his milk
Is anyone elses LO rolling or turning yet?? Arben isn't tho he does manage to get his but hald way over he has really strong legs aswell and is a whiz in the door bouncer, very amusing to watch

kinki · 18/01/2008 17:44

hmmmm, fio, you're going to have your hands full with your little boy, you mark my words....

Joking aside, I know what you mean about keeping your baby a baby for a long time. I am actively discouraging any development.. If he sits forward, I push him back, if he tries to weightbear, I bend his knees. And as for rolling, well that's just not allowed. He's been warned, if I catch him doing it, it'll be the naughty stair. And I'm not weaning him till he's 5.

canadianmum · 18/01/2008 19:34

kelmcd - arben is so sweet, and I love his little sock holders. You are clever organising video on the internet. I barely manage the odd digital photo sent by email to my mother!

kinki - I am fine with the rolling and sitting, it is the crawling and walking that I want to avoid as long as possible. Babies are just so much easier when they just stay in one place and look cute dontcha think??? .

Must dash and order the curry.........its Friday night after all

kyala · 18/01/2008 19:57

We gave in and gave Lucy a bit of formula (Aptamil) this afternoon, she seemed to love it and fell asleep on it, this eve whilst I was in the middle of making dinner she started crying, figured she was hungry so gave DH the bottle to keep her quiet (planning to give her the booby before settling for bed) and she's just puffed up- alergic reaction!

BLOODY WONDERFUL!!
So my little babe has gone up to the hospital with her Daddy whilst I get the other little angel to bed (although she's turned into a little devil for this occasion lol)
AAARRRGGGHHH!
Am slightly annoyed!
(Rant over, please excuse the intrusion!)

kinki · 18/01/2008 20:10

Oh, kyala, I hope she's ok. How worrying for you. I know how stressful it can be to stay at home when daddy takes lo to the hospital. Hopefully big sis settles down for you. Keep us posted.

amyclaramum · 18/01/2008 20:27

kyala- hope lo is ok ? poor love ! and poor you ! take care and let us know how she is

Eloise is rolling already and uses her baby gym to push her feet against to get round - it is quite scary how quickly they get onto the next stage ! Like you Kinki and Fio I wanted my 3rd DD to stay little /immobile as long as possible !!

Happy weekend to all xx

kyala · 18/01/2008 20:32

WOW! Amyclaramum that's amazing, Lucy can't do anything but smile and laugh at the moment (well not right now as she probably can't even open her eyes now bless her)

I feel so guilty, she started rubbing her face earlier but I just thought it was cos she was tired
Haven't heard anything from DH yet, he's been gone over half an hour now, have got all sorts running through my head. . . trying to keep my mind off it with games and tv.
Will keep you all posted, I'm sure it'll be fine but she's had quite a bit of milk so it might get worse before it gets better

MrsFish · 18/01/2008 20:45

Oh dear Kyala - I hope it isn't too bad, I have never heard of a baby having an allergic reaction to formula before.

I am also feeling sad that Ben is growing so quick, I have a huge pile of clothes that don't fit anymore and such cute outfits too, I'm sad that he won't wear them again I had him weighed yesterday, he is 15 weeks old today and weighs 16 pound 15 ounces and fills a 6-9 month babygro He has this week really started to grab at things and reach out to touch the toys on his car seat and rocker

kelmcd Have I asked you recently how old Arben is? I know I asked someone Anyhow he looks so grown up in that vid so I was just wondering how old he was

hannahsaunt · 18/01/2008 20:50

Kyala - thoughts are with you just now; it must be a worry.

Venturing back here after aeons away - I have really struggled with maintaining every day life with the dreadful lack of sleep but we have turned a (little) corner in that ds3 is now pretty much only up once through the night between 10.30pm and 7am which is a relief. Otherwise he's a perfect Gina boy and he slots in beautifully around school runs etc. He's very active and waggly but not rolling - neither of the other two did until after they learned to crawl. Mind you, ds2 was crawling at 6mo which was a bit of a shock. Ds3 is itching to join in the rumpus with the other two - there is nothing he likes more than watching and shouting encouragement from the sidelines.

You can tell he is the third though - I had to count the weeks on the calendar today to find out how old he is

laksa · 18/01/2008 21:03

Hi guys,

Not sure if you remember me, have been away for a bit as was quite down about Bella's slow weight gain and the whole am I making enough milk to feed her saga. Well I'm back as have finally realised that she is obviously healthy if a bit skinny

kyala, oh my goodness, poor little lucy, hope she feels better soon. You don't expect them to get such violent allergic reactions to formula

Fiofio, I know what you mean about the rolling, getting bored thing. Bella has been rolling for a while and where previously she would lie on her play gym having fun she now rolls over and gets bored really quickly. She gets so frustrated with not being able to crawl yet, she is such a grumpy thing when she can't reach her toys

Kelmcd, Arben looks like he loves his door swing, he does have strong little legs

My sympathy for all those with insomniac babies. I am propping my eyes open with matchsticks as well, my lo feeds every 3 hours through the night at the moment...where is the shattered emoticon when you need it, yawn.

As for the weaning question. Bella is feeding much more frequently at the moment so I am hoping this is a growth spurt. I have no plans to wean her early as breast milk apparently has more calories than solids at this age due to the fact that babies digestive systems can't absorb all the nutrients properly. Since Bella is still a little underweight I want her to have as much breast milk as I can get into her without her getting full on solids. I am planning to breastfeed till she is a year old and introduce solids when she is about 6/7 months. Seems a shame to give up breast feeding when we are both enjoying it so much more these days, also I quite like eating like a horse and not putting on weight

xx

kyala · 18/01/2008 21:14

ok they're back now, lucy's looking hideous and dh is fun laffing at the fact that he was surrounded by 4 nurses cooing over her! [raspberry emoticon]
anywho, this is going to be a long night, lucy's fine but I'm going to be up all night listening to her breathing just to make sure

MrsMar · 18/01/2008 21:54

Hello everyone, haven't had a chance to fully catch up on everyone's news, just wanted to say hi! We're back from our hols, we went to St Lucia with my mum and dad and we had a fantastic time. Luca absolutely loves the water, we bought one of those baby floats from jojomamanbebe with a little seat thing the baby can stick his feet through and paddle with. He was off round the pool on his own, no fear at all and giggling like a nutter! He loved the sea too so I'm now going to take him swimming at least once a week. I've added a couple of pics to my profile of my little water baby

I hope everyone's well, I'm off to read the hundreds of threads I've missed! Take care everyone xxx

kyala · 18/01/2008 22:58

Aw bless your little angel MrsM, he's such a stunner!!

MrsFish · 19/01/2008 08:37

What a beautiful boy MrsM, you must be so proud

sophus · 19/01/2008 11:09

Rant alert

So DP has gone to Las Vegas for business for 8 days . He had to leave at 5.30 a.m. so for once he had to pack the night before. i cooked him a lovely supper last night, as well as doing baby stuff, whilst letting him run around the house like a stress bunny.

Just got Linus to sleep after a particulalry over excited couple of days, and was trying to finish off cooking supper when he came up to me and said "i need to wake up linus as all my clothes are in the spare room"

WHAT A MUPPET.

so i had to pick up sleepy baby, turn off all the lights upstairs and carry him to another room. Then DP went and got his clothes, woke L up as he threw his stuff on the floor and then finally i could put the baby back to bed and then get on with supper.

dal21 · 19/01/2008 11:27

Hi everyone

Have skimmed posts. Just back from mums and her cast is finally off and she is heaps better - hoorah!
Our LO's are defo growing up! Ryan is rolling and using his feet to push himself around. Loves being sat up - I reckon he is going to be off as soon as he can!

Well I talked to my GP re. weaning and I am going to start Ryan on some baby rice etc from next week, he will be 20 weeks. The health visitor from the surgery is going to give me a call - but am reassured from the advice I got. Right am off out for lunch with friends, am hoping Ryan is ok - he keeps rubbing his ears and I have just read that one of the side effects from the Rotavirus injection can be an ear infection, so am going to keep an eye on him. having said that he doesnt seem to be in any pain as he bounces away in his chair.

catch up later all.

kinki · 20/01/2008 12:40

I'm very of your dh Sophus going to Las Vegas. I love Las Vegas. My dh is off this week too, though he's only going as far as Scotland. I'm quietly looking forward to the peace and quiet when he's gone.

Glad your mum's arm is doing well dal. I bet she'll be giving Ryan extra cuddles now! I hope he hasn't got an ear infection. None of mine have been troubled with them, but I know they can be quite painful. I'd keep the calpol close at hand if I were you, just in case.

Also of your holiday too MrsM. Hope you all had a lovely time, Luca certainly did by the sounds of it. He definately seems to be a little waterbaby. I'm thinking of taking ds2 to swimming lessons after easter (he'll be 3 then) for a bit of special one-to-one with him, luckily the local pool have a creche that I could use. Not sure if I'm ready to inflict the general population to myself in a swimming cossy yet though.

Kyala, how's Lucy? Been thinking of her, hope she's ok.

Lovely to hear from you hannahsaunt and laksa.

Hopeysgirlwasntbig · 20/01/2008 19:20

Dal, glad you're Mum is on the mend

Canadadianmum, all I can say is GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR t that van driver. Hope your DH's pain gets better.

I've started Niamh on some baby rice and some baby porridge. She seems to really enjoy it. I've just ordered online a Beaba babycook, can't wait for it to arrive! Going to go all organic and healthy for my little girl!

Hope everyone is well. Will catch up 'properly' soon. x x
