Here we go! (or should I say here wii go!?). I'll try doing a link too...

Incidentally, I had a dream last night that Cerys suddenly learnt how to blow proper raspberries! Don't know where it came from but it could be that she has been trying since she was about 4 weeks old and did it entirely by accident yesterday!

pears/apple etc

dal21 · 25/01/2008 21:11

Hi all

work was fab - ryan was a poppet and we discussed a very interesting role - so need to start looking into childcare options for a few days a week. very exciting!

Kink - am hoping you are feeling better. sending you . Please dont be scared and please stay positive. Sometimes a good cry is all that is needed.

Kelm - with pears/ apples - puree them and you can then either add the water if you boiled them to get them to the consistency you need. Or you can add boiled/ cooled water if you need to.

Hopey - gym at home is the way forward. AK has since retracted what she has said and it caused an absolute stink on the bfeeding board - but I have no idea how I would have made Ryan wait til 26 weeks - he is absolutely devouring the food and is sleeping much better as a result - both during the day and at night. He took 2 tsps at baby rice this pm so per she who must not be named, tomorrow 11am feed is pear puree (fingers crossed if Ryan has no probs with the baby rice tonight)

Right off to bed, nighty night!

kelmcd · 25/01/2008 21:13

sorry Dal having a total blonde moment - puree them raw??

Chattyhan · 25/01/2008 21:28

Hello everyone - just touching base - sorry i haven't been around much, i've been checking in to read your posts but not much to add! My week has been consumed with trying to potty train ds1 so unfortunately Alex hasn't had much of a look in! But we're all fine and plodding along!

Kinki - sorry to hear whats going on with you - will be thinking of you om tues and sending hugs your way!

PLP - great news about cerys op date!

I've got Annabel Karmels first year planner and have been reading up on the weaning section as i couldn't remember a thing! I don't think Alex is ready yet and i'm going to wait until he is (not neccessarily 6 months) He's 19wks this sun!

I had a little stomach bug last weekend and while i got over it very quickly i've been left feeling exhausted - i think all the sleepless nights are catching up with me! Alex is still feeding 3 times in the night every night! So sorry if i've missed anything i'm really not with it

Chattyhan · 25/01/2008 21:31

Kelmcd - depends how soft the fruit is! Apple needs to be cooked but mango can be pureed from raw!

kelmcd · 25/01/2008 21:34

oh my gooddness,, my brain has really disappeared tonight i am so at my dumbness but do you just boil it as you do with carrots etc?

kelmcd · 25/01/2008 21:35

Chatty - i think my sleepless nights are catching up on me too! we are feeding twice and grizzlinging.....goodness knows! I am a walking zombie

kinki · 25/01/2008 21:38

I am effing furious at my dh. Just found out tonight that he has 'forgotten' to tell me that a close family friend died a few weeks ago. He couldn't make the funeral and it didn't occur to him that I would want to go. Ffs, it was ME who had been writing and speaking to her lately. He said he didn't say anything because his way of dealing with death is not talking about it. He doesn't get why I am so angry at him. Selfish git. I am so angry. He's done it before too when he 'forgot' to tell me his uncle had died. Took me 2 months to discover that one.

Hopeysgirlwasntbig · 25/01/2008 22:03

oh kinki, I am sorry . I have to admit, I'd flipping cross on that one too, I get why you're angry. Men!

MrsFish · 26/01/2008 08:23

kelmcd - chop your apples/pears and put in saucepan, had 1-2 tbsp water or pure unsweetened apple juice, cover and cook over low heat until soft then blend to a puree. Its more of a steamed method rather than like carrots

kelmcd · 26/01/2008 10:31

thanks MrsFish will try these today

kelmcd · 26/01/2008 11:09

i apologise if i'm boring you with these videos but i thought i would show you Arbens jumping skills. He has now got how to actually jump in it

MrsFish · 26/01/2008 11:24

Awww, thats ace

Hopeysgirlwasntbig · 26/01/2008 13:44

feeling very smug with myself, ahum, as long as these work, but have uploaded some videos of Niamh here and here. Modern techonology, innit brill!!

Hopeysgirlwasntbig · 26/01/2008 13:46

It worked it worked!!

kelmcd, your vid is great. Niamh's not quite up to Arben's standards yet, she needs a bit more practise!!

HammerHeadShark · 26/01/2008 13:56

Hopey - great videos - its really interesting to see Niamh as Millie was born the same day! She looks very similar, she makes the same squeaky laugh noises and has the same little dress and vest from Next - spooky!

Kinki - sorry to hear about your DH - mine is being a bit of an arse at the moment too. Sorry to hear about your friend. Not what you need with plenty on your mind already, take care. Ps Thanks for Gene Simmons update - he is sort of attractive in a filthy ugly sort of way

Kelm - love Arbens bouncing, what brilliant strong legs!

Purple - great to hear about Cerys.

Mrs Fish - you are the baby chef equivalent of Gordon Ramsey - are you as sweary??

Dal - v. impressed at you having a gym in your garage, but very relieved I don't have a garage for very same reason.

Anyway, popping down to my mum and dad's for the weekend to let them spoil the DCs. Have a good one

xx

kelmcd · 26/01/2008 14:01

Its great to be able to do these videos as my parents live in Australia so they can see how he is growing etc! keeps them invovled which is so important to us. Plus we have a website forhis pics for everyone else t see to, take some each week. Its a good keep sake aswell

dal21 · 26/01/2008 18:51

Hi all - DH is bathing and putting Ryan to bed, so hopefully thats me off duty for the night. Have had a celebratory glass of Ovaltine while relaxing and catching up.

Chatty - Hope you are feeling better. Am sure the nights will get better once weaning starts, fingers crossed.

Kelm/ Hopey - loving the vids! Very very cute. Arben looks very cute and seems to enjoy the bouncer. And Niamh is adorable too! Is that your DS with her?

Hammer - hope you have a fab time at your folks.

Well I have had a lovely day of doing absolutely nothing. Ryan was moved onto pear puree today and absolutely loved it. He is only getting small amounts per GF's planner and after his evening baby rice was finished he let out a yelp of displeasure...he wanted more!

I have also decided today to only bfeed til Ryan is 26 weeks old. A part of me would love to carry on (the emotional part that loves the closeness it brings) but rationally I also know that I want my body back for a reasonable length of time before trying for no. 2. Cannot believe that 26 weeks is less than 6 weeks away. I used to think 26 weeks would never come, now it almost seems upon me! Feel really sad thinking about it, but also think if I do it for longer, I may regret it and think I should have taken the chance to have me back while I could. Don't think it will be as easy if we ever have 2 DC's. Does anyone else feel the same or are you continuing to excl. bf past 26 weeks?

Hope all having fab weekends.

dal21 · 26/01/2008 19:04

started [[http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/2724/465331 this thread] on AIBU. Am i the only one who thinks puree lead weaning gets really bad press on mnet? I talked to DH about baby lead weaning and he looked mighty scared. Think I may stick with purees a good while.

dal21 · 26/01/2008 19:04

this thread even.

canadianmum · 27/01/2008 12:52

hopey - anna is sitting on my lap fussing but as soon as i opened yr video of niamh she was transfixed - so cute .

dal - i get the impression that those who think blw is the only way to go are just much more vocal than the vast majority who happily do purees and have done for years. my boys had their food pureed until 18 months and now are 5 and are great eaters of all kinds of food. they are also so slim you can see through them!! if you had been weaning ryan 5 yrs ago you would not have even bothered to ask yr gp if it was ok as the recommendation then was 4-6 mths and NO later. amazing how things change!!!

amyclaramum · 27/01/2008 14:29

Hopey - your video of Niamh is sooo cute - Eloise was watching it with me and like Anna was transfixed by a baby talking to her in her own language !!!

Kelmcd - Arben in his bouncer is so gorgeous ! My 6 yr old kept asking to see the jumping baby again !!

Kinki - sorry about your friend and I understand how annoyed you are that your DH didn't tell you - but do you think he was being super-sensitive as you are worrying about the bronchoscopy so much at the moment? Thinking of you and hope you are ok ? How is expressing going ?

Talking of DH's coming from another planet mine has gone to New York - has to work there on Monday and Tuesday but he organised to go Saturday morning so he can catch up with an old school friend and enjoy a weekend break ! He seemed surprised that I wasn't too impressed /interested - fgs when am I going to get a break ?? Sorry for ranting but Eloise chose yesterday to refuse to sleep at all in the day and then screamed all evening [hmmm] think she must be teething ! I am sooooo tired and irritable now and kind of resenting my DH being away - do you think I'm being a miserable old cow ?

Anyway - Dal - you are brave to venture into the minefield of BLW/PUREE !!- but I completely agree with Candianmum that if Ryan had been born a few yrs ago you wouldn't have had a choice anyway ! Sounds like ryan is doing really well with pear and baby rice etc !

Hello to Hammer and PLP and mrs Mar and anyone else I've forgotten with my sleep deprived brain !

Hopeysgirlwasntbig · 27/01/2008 18:00

Hi Hammer, we obviously both have great taste in clothes! I have gone dresses 'mad', Debenhams sell SUCH lovely dresses and I've got some real bargains. Her wardrobe is kitted out up to 2 years! Hope you had a lovely weekend with your parents. x x

kelm, it really is good being able to put videos on the net. Some of my family don't see us often and it's so much better than a still photo isn't it. I shall bookmark your website and keep dipping in.

dal, was it chucklet ovaltine?? Yes, it was DS1 with her, he's 11 now and absolutely adores her. Both boys do. They seem to have a very different relationship with her than their relationship between each other. I guess there's no competition with her, whereas boy do they argue with each other!! I've not tried pear yet. Niamh's a bit out of sorts this weekend, she keeps on letting out these high shrill noises, I think her gums are really sore, she had v red cheeks this morning, poor baby . Great thread you started. I'd say do whatever you feel like doing, maybe when Ryan reaches 26 weeks review your feelings, you may not want to give up, then again it may be the cut off you need.

canadianmum, that's so funny about Anna watching Niamh, there is a special type of communication between babies isn't there.

amyclaramum, glad Eloise enjoyed watching Niamh too! No, you're not being unreasonable at all, Men!!!! Remember when my DH went to Denmark on my birthday last yr, I WAS NOT IMPRESSED! I truly hope Eloise sleeps better today, it's horrible this teething business, poor bubs, they don't understand why their mouths are sore, not nice.

I've had a lovely weekend, my Dad and stepmum (who I've managed to get to join Mumsnet - she's supernan have a search and say hello to her for me, she's so so lovely!! and v funny!!! She started a thread lastnight titled 'How do I lose half a stone in an evening', you can imagine the replies!) came to visit. Dad did a champion job with DH in the garage. We've managed to get rid of tonnes (literally) of stuff and have now got an up and 'running' gym. Diet 1st Feb here I come, got 2 stone to lose!

Got a bit of a painting 'fetish' going on, put up a frieze in Niamh's room, she chose it herself yesterday, SO funny. Me and stepmum were holding up samples for her to look at and she consistently smiled at this one mermaid border! SO that's the one she's got. Also the Superbaby grow arrived on Friday and I've pinned it up on her wall, it looks fab. When I get round to it I'll take a pic and put on my profile. Anyway, got lots of painting I want to do in the house.

PLP and kinki, how are you my lovelies? Hope you've had a nice weekend.

Hi to MrsMar and MrsFish and Fio and sophus and MrsBumble and ChattyHan and kyala and everyone else. x x x

Have a lovely evening

MrsFish · 27/01/2008 18:24

Hopey I am on this topic for weight loss, I have lost half a stone so far and need to lose two more stone. The girls are really nice and chatty and we weigh in on a wednesday and post up what we have eaten at the end of each day, well most days

sophus · 27/01/2008 18:53

a.c.mum - totally sympathise with you, DP got back from his week in Las Vegas and complained that i wasn't giving him a chance to have a lie-in so he could get over his jet lag. Since when have i had a chance to get over my 4.5 month induced exhaustion. My reply was two-fold 1) i said "get over it, you're a parent now" and 2) handed him a baby, a bottle of EBM, a clean nappy and then i went riding for the morning.
